I reckon you could use both/either. I'm sure Orcs aren't fussy about cutting down small or large trees when it suits their needs. Humans certainly aren't!

Thanks everyone for the feedback
I will probably go with the larger planks as that's the type of barn I grew up in. Yes Theo was raised in a barn . From the time I was 8 years old till I was 18 I worked 40hours or more a week for my family's (cousins) landscape supply business. Wake up at 4 am, go to "the farm" work a couple hours, shower head to school, get picked up by my uncle and head to the farm for 4-5 hours, go home shower and sleep for 5-6 hours then repeat. I enjoyed it, still prefer a job where I can get sweaty over a desk job any day of the week. The Barn i "lived" in was over 100 years old, rock footings held up posts made from debarked trees, all the walls were 12" or wider planks that were 20' long floor to roofline one piece. You don't see that anymore due to trees not surviving that long anymore before being chopped down and cut up. I'd drive out one day to snap a picture of the barn but it was leveled about 2-3 years ago by a tornado winds. My cousin didn't rebuild it as his business insurance wouldn't cover the complete cost, so he sold the lumber from it to a lumber reclamation company that looks for old wood like that and uses it in new construction.
All this talking about it has me wanting to build a replica of it , that would be huge.....not as big as Viks leviathan build, but it could probably give his little tank some cover .
I'll need to go get some more of those planks, I bought them a few years back at hobby lobby I believe, so hopefully they will have something similar.
In the mean time I picked up some green wash and a new terrain piece on my way to work yesterday.
Way watcher green gw. I've got all these orcs to do and never had green wash
The terrain bit is a new one from the reaper bones line. It's a weapons locker, but the back side looks like a plain old crate to me. It's hollow underneath to hold hidden objectives and the paint pot fit nicely inside it with room for almost a second pot with it (both laying down of course....that sounds dirty ).

only a wee bit of it would be covered by ANY barn...
and i think living in a barn... gets pretty cold in the winter...or am i wrong here?
that piece looks interesting...tho i am not really able to tell what it is supposed to be and how it works... looks like a container... can you open it? but who in that scale could operate it?
30672
Post by: Theophony
It is a container, but it doesn't actually open it. It's supposed to be a weapons transporting crate with biometric lock set on one end. It opens and the martini dispenser pops out. Just like in the iron man movie.
I didn't actually live in the barn, but we ground up tree bark turning it into mulch and then bagged it and stacked it on pallets. Long tedious work. The wind did come between the planks easily enough, but so did the heat. Many 100 degree Fahrenheit days spent in the barn sweating.

Bah. I've done landscaping for awhile but not for *that* long Not envious either
I've got a couple of the weapon crates, they aren't bad at all. I wish the shipping containers sold for that rate... but if wishes were fishes and all that... Still a nice bit of terrain to have around.

Are you doing shading on your Orcs? Cause Waywatcher Green doesn't really work that way. You would have been better off with Biel-Tan Green for that. Or Athonian Camoshade.

I think you can kind of use glazes like washes, but they aren't quite as good for darkening the crevasses so much as tinting the color in general, if I'm thinking correctly?

Thanks Vik, good to know I don't have a problem......
Well I primed them already, and immediately started to paint them, well one of the fatties. The primer I used must be bad, or I didn't wait long enough....or humidity as after the first base coat dried it cracked and I got white crackle throughout the model. So second basecoat applied...it cracked too. So third basecoat applied....it caught fire, burnt, fell over and sank into the swamp, but the fourth basecoat (good thing she was a fattie to begin with ) will have to wait till tomorrow as its off to work I go.

@Vik, sorry, my lack of explaining trikes again. As the primer continued to dry it caused the paint to crackle. No liquid green stuff needed, just needs more than the 4 coats of paint and 2 washes I gave her. You can see in the picture that there are some small crackles left on her orange dress and on her legs. She's laying down now since she hard a large meal.
@Dr. H, the Zombicide: Black Plague kickstarter is finishing in a few days, there next stretch goal announced this morning is a not certain monty Python knight who knows how to identify witches.
@Grimdork, true Dat. Still fighting the urge to go buy all three copies of toxic city mall they had at 1/2 price. All those zombies for $90, plus extra tiles and stuff too, but I think I have a plan for these zombies....not very cunning, but hopefully fun. I don't want yo start the contemporary Zombicide collection as the BP looks so good and I'm going to get that instead.

30672
Post by: Theophony
Well the runners are zombies, I just need to zombify them some....and better pictures. We've been getting serious rain here for weeks, high water levels and some flooding, including some flash flooding in areas, so humidity might have been the problem. You know besides me painting before the primer is even dry .
Also big question to the crew (anyone who stops by here that counts you as well)
The end of July marks the opening of the Conan pledge manager from the kickstarter. I've already dropped a bunch of money into it, now the question is
1 do I get a King pledge and one of each kickstarter exclusive figure (will get me about 200+ figs, some large ones),
2 or do I put in a little more and get a king and barbarian pledge ( over 400 miniatures )
Check it out over in the kickstarter.com the look for Conan: hybornean quests boardgame (some of those figure numbers represent furniture like tables and chairs , but it's still like 140+ figures and the rest of the 200 is the furniture. All plastic the same as dust tactics.

hmmm... the individual models look very good... the furniture is promising... and the monsters (of these i haven´t seen that much...) are promising too... where i see a bit of a problem (for me) would be the plethora of mono pose models...but that is something you have to cope with... so i think this is my major factor for decisions...
30672
Post by: Theophony
Well monopole will be fine especially if I can find a use for them in Kings of War as that would help them rank up nicely. If you look in the updates section of the kickstarter they have been showing off all the models there. I'm at work right now so it's hard to bring pics over on my break time and on my iPhone, but the Thaug model is enormous.

that is an ugly fether...and a huge one to boot^^
i am a bit lost in all thngs concerning conan...i´ve read the rather old eighties comics of course, but never truly getting the hang of these...
the KOW armies of yours also would be the only use for these...from my point of view... with all that AoS stuff about i think a new fantasy playset is the only way to avoid stupid deathstar fantasy.
how do the conan models fair in comparrision to KoW stuff in mini to mini pricing?
30672
Post by: Theophony
It's been a really long time (25+years) since I've read some of the Conan stuff. I keep forgetting to try and grab them from the library when we take the kids twice a week.
Price wise the Conan king pledge was $135, and came with 74(ish) models but got over 100 models in the stretch goals (including furniture, and huge free models like Thaug, and 10 tentacles to use with him) so way less than $1 a figure that route. But there are so many different models in there that rank and file troops aren't going to be very common. Kings of war stuff is darn cheap too, especially if you buy the bigger boxes or wait for kickstarters. Usually around $1 a figure, but no where near as nice in my opinion as these models.
I'm really torn as to my future fun stuff.(kickstarters I have coming)
Creature caster is finally in the last legs of producing and I have locked my pledge in for that (mountain dragon, and Warrior Demon)
Kings of War 2, I just did the $50 pledge, so hardback rulebook, softback rulebook and Blaine on a dinosaur. Plus counters and stuff.
Dungeon Saga: dwarf kings hold, I got the basic pledge, but there's a ton of models including a dragon
Zombicide: Black Plague, still wrapping up now but still a ton of models for gaming and should be same scale as Conan and Blood Rage
Blood Rage, right at about a 100 models, some rather larger nasty monster to boot.
Conan....undecided, but probably leaning towards the king pledge and a barbarian pledge (400+ items)
MODcubes, I have five sets of these coming, and a cunning plan for them....hopefully.
Most of these would make great D&D figures, but with Blood Rage, Conan and Dungeon Saga all being board games, along with Zombicide I think I'll have plenty to do besides mass battles. Plus some of these can make great warbands for Mordheim andAlchemy.

I'm also in the Creature Caster boat. Ughhh taking forever! I think his brain may have fallen out once he got funded lol. On the plus side, count yourself lucky that you're not in the AvP Kickstarter. Wow. What a horrendous mess that was.(though in fairness, Prodos Games are finally rolling out the pledge rewards to backers!)

Yeah I'm glad I skipped that one. I'm learning some kickstarter lessons....the hard way. I've dealt with jeremy before, and had difficulties with communications, but it was right before he sold his last company.
Well like I said I'm not back, just don't have the time, but the ideas are flowing. Zombie related ideas.....and Servo skull ideas , well combining the two . The new idea are the Servo skulls are a crack (pot) team sent in to deal with zombie plagues on imperial worlds. When there's nothing biological left of you then you don't have to worry about catching the zombie plague. So at work last night I got the new army name for the boys.

@vik, the unit name came first, already had the ASSmarines, now we have the holes to complete their character they really are more of a classic split rail fence than a cattle fence. Just wanted something easy to paint up and create some character for the boards. The posts were left over pieces from another project and I knocked them out in about ten minutes for 12" of fencing.
@graven, I'm thinking of what to do, but no inspiration has hit yet, besides, every time I enroll in a competition I fail out before the end. It would better serve me to hide my shame here in my thread.
The family leaves on vacation on Sunday. They are driving to Michigan with ALL of my family (mom, dad, brother, sisters and brother in law along with my niece). My brother in law was given a vacation allowance for working at his job for 20 years. They decided to rent a house in traverse city Michigan close to the beach that sleeps 12, rent three cars and everyone drive up there. It's a belated 50th anniversary present for my parents. Everyone was sick last year on their anniversary and money was tight, so we had to hold off. I couldn't get time off from work to go along, but I am flying up there on Thursday morning to surprise them before they begin driving back home on Saturday. We will split ways then and me and my clan will drive back and spend a night in Chicago and hopefully see Sheds Aquarium and possibly the natural history museum before driving home on Monday for me to go back to work Tuesday. Don't tell my kids as no one outside my wife, and sister know about me heading up by plane.

The simplicity is so nice that I am almost ready to box up some of my paints and clear the desk . Seriously I love to build stuff, but lately I haven't been getting any games in except a train game with my kids. My brother in law has been so busy and I just hate trying to set stuff up at the FLGS with peeps I don't know. Especially since I work so many strange hours (most nights are out) three mornings a week are out and Sunday is a no go. Then I have to fit my family in there too.
Just watching the videos of the Zombicide Black Plague made me appreciate the fun of gaming again. No worries about terrain, painted figures or points.
Also in other news I've gotten pretty fed up with one of the kickstarters (creaturecaster) . I've just sent a private request to see about a refund, which if it happens will just get turned around into more Zombicide stuff. I'm also tempted to cancel my Conan pledge and go CRAZY with Zombicide Black Plague (all in sorts of crazy), but I think I'll hold out there as there's some great sculpts amongst the over 200 figs I'll be getting.

Zombicide looked cool but ehh, meh, had to pass. Probably gonna pass out on bones 3 too, though it does have a nice selection.
I do wanna paint some more boardgame stuff ala mars attacks!, but I've been feeling the need to terrain it up once things settle down a bit.
I hear you about the no gaming... its kind of rough with the kids.

So I did some thinking last night and got over a bit of "I want all the cool exclusives from all these different games". I sent refund requests to Conan, Blood Rage and creaturecaster (which I had done last week) and I am currently waiting on hearing back from all of those. I will be channeling all those funds into Zombicide: Black Plague......and maybe regular zomicide too . Though I won't be getting all the regular Zombicide exclusives. Since they've already done three seasons and two expansions the best I will do is get them and maybe some of the add on boxes. I think what really pushed me over the decision breakpoint was watching a video of how to easily paint up the zombies.
Sorastro's Zombie painting guide on youtube
I have never watched painting videos, and haven't really bothered to become a better painter of the years, but he pointed out some really basic steps that I just jumped over or took the wrong direction with all this time. One of those things being green flesh....as you may have seen my previous zombies all had regular skin tones. I was always getting frustrated by painting the skin dark green and then trying to bring it up to a lighter tone and achieve the results others were getting. But not anymore. Quick coat of Rotting Flesh, then brush on Waywatcher green (which I picked up for my servo skull boys last week) and your basicly done till you weather and seal. Four steps to his method, but you can do more. So I'm going to give it a go.
Giving it a go means I need moar Zombies . Miniaturemarket had a couple boxes of the toxic city mall expansion for half price last week due to damages. Then they emailed ME (no one else, just ME) that if I came in and spent $25 i'd get 500 points ($5.00) off my next visit. well at half price that box was $30.00 so that was the plan......plans go bad though and as I went in today I saw they also had a tin of Armypainter strong tone, which is the guys secret recipe for weathering zombies. Normally $30 on its own, since it was dented I got it for $10 . So here is what I walked home with
oh and the "Damage"
well off to unbox my 43 new figures (plus other content) and get zombie painting. Automatically Appended Next Post:

So far on the trip my flight out got delayed, missed connecting flight, and had a woman thrown in jail for drunk and disorderly after cussing my kids out and throwing (and hitting ) my son with a rock. Local cops were excellent and took the away, she won't be arraigned till we leave town anyway so we don't have to deal with her again. My sons alright, the rock hit him on the inner side of the elbow, not even a bruise. She is obviously off her meds for bi-polar condition (which her neighbor told us about), and has had multiple issues before where the police were involved.

@LDD, I didn't even plan for him to be a priest/vicar, just painting the suit black and then realized it could be a priest.....God had his hand in this figure getting created.
Well, still undecided on refunding my Blood Rage and Conan pledges, got replies from both of them on how to do it or wait till the PM and then get the refund. Blood Rage has some awesome sculpts, especially the Giants and Fenrir (who I'd use as the alphabomination), as well as a bunch of cool Viking looking guys. Still it would cover a $100 pledge for Zombicide if I got rid of the Blood Rage pledge. Conan has just so much stuff in it that would be useful including fantasy terrain, lots of character sculpts and.... a game. Now I just have to wait to hear on creature asters decision. If he refunds me then that's a knight level pledge in itself, then I'll just drop blood rage and it get a knight level and a basic pledge so I get all the extra goodies (tons of Zombies), more boards and more dice. Might even pick up some extras like the NPC-2 set which has Bruce Campbell's boomstick.

If the Kickstarters have not finished you can just cancel your pledge, so I am little lost as to what your problem is unless they have finished which they usually don't let you refund anyway.
Plus you should have backed route 666 it has awesome sculpts great gangs and is like a newer version of Dark future but way better.
Plus you can make your own gang vehicles using cheap 1/64 cars, so if anyone has any old toy cars knocking around you want rid of let me know I might be interested

@Vik, the stretch goals for Black Plague gave us exclusive figures that won't be in retail later on. Some of the better ones were Troy and evil Troy (good and bad Ash from army of darkness) and tim the enchanter along with King Arthur and the Knights from Monty Python and the holy grail. the NPC-2 box is a box of "special" zombies you get extra points for killing and you get to pull "special" cards for weapons/upgrades. NPC stands for Notoriously Plagued Individuals. They just announced that one of the "Special" weapons available only in that pack is the boomstick, not sure what they called it, but it was similar.
@LDD, both of those kickstarters mentioned they would refund any individual 100% up to 60days after close of the campaign, and still refund after that just minus the 8-10% Amazon takes. I saw that route 666 game, but it was the wrong scale for me. Plus I've just gotten tired of the scifi stuff and the fantasy stuff is hitting me right now.
I need to get miniaturemarket to start carrying the clear litko bases. They order from Litko, so maybe I can special order some so I can really do up the Zombicide figures.

That was really good of them most don't offer any kind of refund, zombie obsession can't be a good thing how long will this craze run for LOL
Yes I know what you mean about route 666 it did put me off at first then I saw all the conversions that were being made and shown and I was hooked, plus 1/64 scale cars are cheap as chips mostly and great for converting so I was hooked.

 LDD you jinxed me
After all the email exchanges between me and CMoN they said they would refund me, but then just emailed me saying that the packing slips have been printed today and it is too late. The wording on the email is terrible as the lady who sent it first says no, but then says that she is sorry that she can refund it today . I believe it was supposed to say can not or can't, but got screwed up.
Oh well I'll figure it out another way. I just need a knight pledge....but anything extra I can get will be icing on the zombie cake.

Sorry dude I honestly thought you struck gold with that, but to be honest all the Kickstarters do say no refund after funding.

@giraffex, CMoN does excellent work taking artwork to miniature. They have Adrian Smith as one of their core artists, and tons of great sculptors. For single piece plastics you really can't go wrong with their stuff.
@Grimdork, just back from Mjniaturemarket. No go on special ordering from them. All that they will get from Litko is on their site already and they don't want to expand their product line. Oh well I guess they don't like money
Lots of stuff to do today. I'm going to try and squeeze some painting in eventually, but just worked at church for three hours. Have to make a run up to school to schedule my last class and fill out graduation papers. Run by Home Depot or Lowes for some things, mow the lawn and try and BBQ dinner tonight. so much for a day off.

Ehh, I expected as much. Amazon only seems to carry the 25 packs of clear bases too, guess I'll wait for black friday since i've waited this long as is.

You shouldn't have too much trouble moving the Bloodrage stuff Theo. Seems like many (most?) people bought it for the models alone, so now that it is known what the finals look like it should zip around pretty well.
Hell, I might look to buying a second one, though probably not for full cost, and you should be able to get that for a few weeks after you receive it.

Well my creature caster pledge has been refunded. Well at least partially, the original pledge is somewhere in limbo, but the extra I put in has been refunded. Unfortunately the $CAD has dropped so I lost $8(real dollars) In The year since funding. The original pledge might have been refunded somewhere else (old card) or is taking longer due to the switch from PayPal to stripe. Either way there's my cash for a huntsman pledge at least for Zombicide Black Plague.
Special thanks to Kenny the project manager who has been great and is the only reason I think Jeremy Glenn hasn't been lynched yet.

Well the grass is still long. Didn't feel the desire to play outside after working at church today and then still working at the hospital tonight. I'll get it I. The morning....unless it rains or......zombies. I finished a few more today (4-5) and had done some more yesterday (5 or so) which means this is the most productive I've been painting in years. These also have the added bonus of having a varnish coat on them so they are also THE most completed figures......EVER . I still need to bloody them up, and do so nurgle's rot weeping wounds in them. Clear bases will be a future project for these guys and skanks.
Also while bored I decided to look for Zombicide on a whim and found it cheaper through Target.com (well same price rough as miniaturemarket.com, but I think I still get 5% off with my Target credit card) or save a buck off of MM and order it through Walmart. Both are website exclusives and need to be ordered, but they both had free shipping. I might just wind up with the modern version of Zombicide after all.

I think your current problem with the ever growing grass is reflecting on the z's...zombies are a very interesting breed...very open for personal interpretation of the theme from individual to individual...yours for instance are greener than mine will ever be, but that is good as variations on a theme always offer new insights and possibilities...man what a horde already...better switch the guns then to full auto...

I never would have gone to a green color for zombies if I hadn't watched the painting tutorial a week or so ago. I always tried more natural flesh tones, but was never any good at them. So when I saw this quick and dirty method of mass painting I tried it....and liked it. The green will also help in the game as there will be tons of figures on the board at one time and the green is a pretty easy way of seeing that those are not the players "Actors".
On another note I stopped by miniaturemarket on my way to work.....there were zombies to be had in the form of the main box set. I had over $6 In Store credit and could kick t up today. So I am the proud owner of 71 (6 survivors, one abomination, 8 fatties, 16 runners, and 40 walkers.) more figures and now the base game as well so I could actually play Zombicide. Too bad I work this weekend, and my kids leave for camp Monday morning for a week . That will just give me more time to paint models and clear the gaming table in the basement and maybe try my hand at a solo game or two.
Also painted the skin on the remaining survivors and the Zombicide that I already had. Zombivors are survivors who die...but come back as even harder to kill. You still control them, but basically they are for playing really long games as they can take I believe five wounds before going down instead of two wounds that survivors take before dying.

@AoV, thanks, and good luck with your wait on creaturecaster, I have a bad feeling more delays are on the horizon.
@Grimdork, the rules look really simple, and I don't think it would be too hard to adapt them to marines versus tyranids/orks/ or tau
@mymearan, thanks, your guy looks awesome. I have a bottle of blood for the blood God ready along with nurgle's rot as well. Both will get applied after I finish a large batch of zombies and survivors and do some final touches and use a flat sealer first so they both look slimy compared to the rest of the model.

That's a good idea. I'll think about doing that as well.
While at the hardware store earlier today picking up parts that I thought would fix my lawn mower I saw a can of spray paint specifically formulated for plastic that to me looked very close to the GW rotting flesh color. The paint was called honeydew, and I might grab a can of it next time I'm in there. Of course next time I'll take a figure painted with rotting flesh to see how close they are. Army painter makes a matching paint but at $14 a can I think I might give this one a go for $6.
On lunch break now (8pm local time) and just sitting and reading the rulebook again. I love the fact that this is such a beer and pretzel game. Takes me back to the good old days of gaming with my buddies from school. If any of them lived close by I'd definitely hit them up for a game and just to catch up on old times. Automatically Appended Next Post: Just because I wanted to get them ready for priming, and I never watched any Unboxing videos or say pics of exactly what you get from the Zombicide main box.

Elsa and her zombivor version
I painted Elsa a few days ago and last night I did the zombivor. Unfortunately I choose the wrong color for the skin tight suit, did exhibit grey instead of stormvermin fur . Close enough for government work I guess and since they won't be on the board at the same time I think it's fine.
Neema and her zombivor alternative
I was a little worried about going from black skin to zombie skin, but I'll just chalk it up to the outbreak virus changing their skin tones. Maybe later I'll revisit the idea, but for now I think I'm good.
Julien and his zombivor. I need to do the hockey mask in a different color. Probably white, but that can wait till the details and gore get added I think.
Spent yesterday and most of the night at the hospital with my son. He had a allergy onset asthma attack that we were having problems controlling. We had to leave in the middle of church to take him. Went to the local children's hospital which is part of the hospital network I work for, and waited for what seemed like forever. The last couple times we had to take the kids there it was in and out in an hour or so. This time it took 5-6 hours and none of us had had lunch and we were all done by the time he was released. A good hour or two was because the computer system went down, but otherwise it was not the usual visit. He is doing fine now, but we needed to get him steroids to get his lungs back up to full strength, especially since all three of them leave for church summer camp this morning. Didn't want to have to drive 3 hours to pick him up again because we didn't get it treated yesterday.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Just finished Raoul's zombivor as well. Forgot his beard before putting on the strong tone. Remedied that now

Post by: Theophony
Yeah Shaso, you can come back as a good Zombie. Still fighting the good fight even after death. The zombivors came out in one of the expansions so not all the actors have alternate zombie versions, unless they are sold separately and I'm not aware of it. Very possible.
Played my first game of Zombicide. Not sure if I did everything all right, but the basics were really simple to follow. I did mission 00, it only takes 2 times and about 20 minutes. I ran with the four survivors that I had painted up. Raoul, Julien, Neema and Resa. Took about 6 turns to complete the mission and only Neema took a wound. In return she killed 5 zombies while the three others killed 5 between them. I went with them using all noise free weapons. Fire and axe, crowbar and frying pans(2) for most everything. The sawed off shotgun got used once and the pistol got used twice I think. Raoul whiffed on three swings with the frying pan at a critical point, and a lone zombie survived long enough to bite Neema. We'll have to keep an eye on her.
10 dead zombies later the survivors reached the mission objective and Raoul the not so mighty flipped it and got 5 experience points. Everyone was still in the blue band range for experience. Very helpful to keep everyone close together there. In game turns the more experience you get the higher in the bands you go. Start in blue then yellow, orange and finally red. As you flip the cards to determine zombie spawning the highest experience band color determines how many zombies (and what type) show up. By keeping everyone at blue you encounter fewer and seeker zombies until you all get close to advancing levels. Kind of like old D&D, sucks to be a first level wizard when surrounded by 15th level fighters while going after dragons.
Also painted up a couple of civilians that come in the angry neighbors expansion. I got the two sharpshooters painted up and toned, they are drying now. Also primed all the contents of the core box.

Post by: Wehrkind
Has anyone ever had the noise effects make a difference? I don't know if our group tends to stay clustered more often, or just play very linear/choke point style maps, but the location of noise counters other than the survivors (who each count for 1) never made a difference. Is that just a Prison Outbreak issue, or do other versions have the same deal?
30672
Post by: Theophony
I could see where they could make a difference if you wanted them too, but I think in a regular base game there won't be that much of a distraction. Unless you split up. I was purposely trying to not use noisy weapons, but at some points I considered using the guns more because of trying to clear a square I front of me so the actor with the crowbar could advance next turn. Pop a door open quietly, and enter the building without making a bunch of noise.
Well before I left for work I basecoated the zombies from the main set and hit them with the waywatcher green. I o my got one each of them covered, but here are the sames for those zombies.
The guys that make Zombicide have a very different idea of how women dress. Every female model (zombies)has exposed g strings. Those guys really must want to crack open a cold one. (Bad necrophilia reference from CSI).

30672

Well a horde of Zombies is just fun .
In other news I got the refund from Conan KS. So as of right now that's enough for 2 of the Zombicide:Black Plague knight level pledges. There's really no "additional" buys that I want from that set. I'm going at least the double knight so I get 2 sets of the month Python characters and two of the ratabomination. If I can swing a third knight level then I'm going to do that and have extras of the kickstarter exclusives to sell/trade off.

I had a change of scenery. Wife and some other moms drove down to see the kids at church camp today, so I brought up all the primed zombies, a basic brush, rotting flesh paint, my painting towel and filled a red solo cup to clean the brush every so often. Sat in front of the family room television and listened to supernatural season 5 episodes 1 and 2 (lucifer is set free). Just chilled, which is probably why I dozed off every now and again. That and the comfy club chair I was sitting in.
I didn't want to bring up all my paints and try and do a few models, so next on the agenda wi probably be to hit them all with way watched green. That might happen in the early morning tomorrow if I don't sleep in. I'm off at church and the hospital tomorrow and the kids are t back till Saturday. The wife and I are having a date day tomorrow so probably very little will happen unless I'm up early.

Vik, I was raised in a barn after all.
Not a lot of time today. Spending it with my wife as the kids are away at camp and I'm off work today. Nice breakfast, lots of school supply shopping and just quiet time together. But then she took a nap so off to paint zombies .
The woman reminds me of the sailor moon cartoon now that I've applied the tone to it. But she's hanging out with a regular wife beating joe.
Lastly a runner with his iPod and a traveling Abombination. The model had a camera and one of those fanny packs so I guessed he was an infected tourist. I tried to do a three color Hawaiian shirt, not sure how well it came out. Dark blue, blue and white. He is the tourist version of me wearing white socks and all. (Of course I'm in better shape than him)
Well that's one of every zombie pose that I have. I'll try and get a count on them tomorrow to see what I have all painted up so far. The next few batches will probably be all the survivors and their zombivor alternates.

Here I've had Zombie by the Cranberries running through my head.
Well I just did a count of zombies for the game and I have a total of 42 done so far. By far the most of any army Ive painted in years. Also have 7survivors and their zombivor alternates completed. So a total of 56 models done in a couple of weeks. There still some work to be done on all of them, but good enough for playing games as of right now. Still to do? Matte finish spray, blood for the blood god, and some nurgle's rot slime to add. Touch up a few small things, and then basing. Still tossing the idea of just painting their bases instead of the clear bases. Clear bases make them look so nice on the board and then no need to base them, but they are going to do colored base snap on rings for the Black Plague edition and I'm worried that if I cut them off it will be hard to tell the differences between types. Also there's the cost issue of rebasing them all on clear bases. Not sure I could justify that, but still trying to decide.
Well spent time cleaning at church today and preparing for the kids to come home tomorrow. I'll have to clean up there again tomorrow night after 180+ kids and 30+ counsellors get off the buses and use the facilities. Tried to work on the mower today, but looks like the carbuerator is shot. Talked to a guy from church who does engines, so he will look at it on Monday. So the grass is getting really long.
I did manage to finish two survivors and their zombivor versions today.
Here's Doug.
And Phil. (That perspective shot happened on its own)

Good stuff and regardless of the basing method, i can't wait to see them dusted and 'finished'. Looking forward to it.
And I hear you on the bases... I've got like a 90 dollar litko order sitting in the cart and it has been for months, it's hard to pull the trigger on that much money for bases of all things... but it would set me up for a looong time.

@Vik, of these last two Phil is Rick from the walking Dead, and Doug is Michael Douglass from Falling Down. Let me know what other ones your trying to figure out. It also reminds me that Doug needs tape on his glasses.
@Grimdork, hold off just a bit longer on the bases, I might have a cunning plan.
@Shaso, and there's about double that amount of zombies still to go.
Trying not to spend money on Prison outbreak and rue morge, but it's hard.
I did have to pick up stuff from the hardware store today had a $7 off of a $20 purchase coupon, so I picked up the clear matte spray, a krylon paint called honeydew(looks like a match for rotting flesh) and some mineral spirits to clean my brush I use the varnish with. The krylon honeydew could be a Godsend as it was only $5.99 a can compared to the $14.99 a can for armypainter necrotic flesh. With the little paint pots being $4-5 each that's a great savings and will make doing the Black Plague boxes easier as well. Only problem I have is that it is Glossy, so not sure how the way watched green will work on it.

@Theo, interesting, I was gonna pull the trigger today but I uhh... had some indiscretions with MM's DotD and my brain's 'hey you're already paying shipping sooo...' problem.. so I can wait for a bit

I love your zombies, and love your paintjobs, but they still seem a wee bit shiny to me. Are they getting a matt varnish or similar?

I don't know why but the Doug model reminds me a little of Albert Wesker from resident evil (the games not the awful movies). I think it's probably the sunglasses .
30672
Post by: Theophony
@Graven, yes sir, I bought the matte spray yesterday, but I'm waiting to do it all in one go. I'm a little worried that if I matte spray one now to test and it doesn't work out I'll get pissed off and rage quit working on these. As I have been going at a good speed I don't want that to occur, so I want to finish and then matte varnish, and then there will be Blood (for the blood god) and nurgle rot because zombies
@Hk1k1, I've inly ever played the first resident evil, I haven't done any video games really since about 1995, but I think the Michael Douglass character was supposed to look like a generic business man to show that anyone could get pushed too far.
Kids return today. I know they will be wiped out, but it will be so nice to hear them bickering and fighting. The house has been too quiet for too long now. If they are interested we might just get a game of Zombicide going.
Me on the other hand, I think I'm going back to sleep for a while. While I miss the kids it's nice to get some rest in when possible.

If you're using the Army Painter matt spray, don't worry. I've found it works great at cutting down the shine. I was a little leery of the whole dipping process and tried it out on a couple of test orks, but they turned out fantastic. I'm in awe of your dedication at painting your zombie horde (which look great). When I think about painting my obscene amount of Zombicide minis, my eyes glaze over and I want to take a nap.
30672
Post by: Theophony
Thanks Zogg, but the matte finish I'm using is krylon clear matte finish spray. $4.99 a can. I used a similar spray (satin) for the grinch cutout we made for Christmas last year, and I hope this works out the same.
Thankfully when I started painting the zombies it was because I got a box of walking dead (20 zombies) for $10-13, and had no desire for more. Then I got bit and went brain dead, so painting in bulk is easier. Especially with the army painter strong tone which I got the big jar for $10.
My kids get home in an hour, so maybe I can go paint for 30 minutes or so.

Post by: GrimDork
I like Krylon in general, though they seem to have phased out my favorite iteration of clear spray, I'm sure the new name that replaced it works just as well.

So many zombies! So, this means massive games of zombies?
30672
Post by: Theophony
@shaso, my nurgle horde is growing while the Zombicide figures get double purposed.
@grimdork, Ive always had good luck with krylon
So 20 minutes of painting done before we went to get the kids, it's so nice to knock out two figures in 20 minutes.
It might be because they used the same colors and I had the zombie flesh done before hand.

Not sure my kids would agree about the good father statement Vik. They have been cleaning in their rooms for 3+ hours now and if they are not done by dinner (at least one of them won't be) then they lose electronics today and tomorrow. There's a few not so happy ex-campers right now, but they were supposed to have their rooms done before camp last week so no sympathies from me.
Well while they cleaned and my wife messed with some stupid "balance ball chairs" she got herself for school I decided to try and catch back up on some painting. 6 more down, 3 survivors and their alternates. I'm not sure of their cultural references (I think the one is from Suckerpunch). Maybe you guys can put the others in perspective for me.
First off is Ned. You can see Adam being worked on in the background.
Then Wanda the roller-waitress with a chainsaw.
Last is the schoolgirl samurai (forget her name right now). I tried to suggest the fishnet stockings by using black wash over the legs before the strong tone, everything's still drying here so we will see the outcome of that experiment later.

Post by: GrimDork
Holy balls... no electronics for a day and a half? Holy.... balls...
You're tough.
Nice work though. I think you can kind of get the idea with the stockings, especially if you look up towards the core and arms which are noticeably lighter.

Zombies galore, all looking great, love the way theres before and after figures.
30672
Post by: Theophony
@Cam, thanks, I like the fact they bothered to make "good zombies" also.
@Grimdork, yeah I'm just worried that it might not remain darker since this is all drying right now and the lower half is collecting more varnish because everything is sagging with weight.
Also side note, I went and looked at a local shop that's been around for 20+ years I believe yesterday. Their hours are afternoons and short hours on weekends, which totally conflicts with my work schedule. The place is called Animeggroll, and is a anime lovers dream, VHS, laserdisc and DVDs of hundreds of anime titles along with graphic novels, dolls and Gundam models. I've been out of that scene for so long, but it was fun looking around.

My 16 year old daughter is mega into anime/manga. I used to be, but back then Akira was about all you saw, unless you went hardcore on it, but now its becoming mainstream, daughter spends 15 hours a day watching it on youtube.
My son got a cool Gundam model for his birthday, only cost about £5, really cool.
30672
Post by: Theophony
Their Gundam models were a LOT cheaper then I remember them being as well. I have a few myself, but mostly just robotech/mech warrior types. Akira was big in my time too. Also Ninja Scroll, riding bean and platabor(sp???). My best man for my wedding was really into Ranma 1/2, which was hilarious, I liked more of the scary stuff like Wicked City Shinjuka or really epic stuff like record of Lodoss wars.
Now a days if I see someone with a kanji tattoo I say to them "WOW you really must like chicken fried rice!" Then I try to convince them that the tattoo person must have screwed up or didn't know Kanji. Thinking back on it maybe I should stop doing that , there might be a few tattoo artists with black eyes that want to talk to me .
Making banana pancakes for dinner right now. At 6:30 (roughly 2 hours from now) we are headed back up to church for the post camp week get together. The counsellors and some kids will get up and share experiences with everyone and then they will plan a 6month reunion meeting. It's a nice way for the kids to have one last visit with each other before next years camp. We had 182 campers from all over including some of the kids of our missionaries from around the globe. They had a great time even though it was HOT!!!!!!

Post by: GrimDork
Oooh, I liked that.. was it Demon City Shinjuku (could have been translated differently where i saw it) and what I saw of Lodoss war too.
Man, big camp. I think I went to camp like.. once. It was ok, just during the day though no staying anywhere else that I recall.
If the legs end up not being darker, just black wash them again once the dip has had long enough to cure. I paint over dipped models on occasion, doesn't hurt anything... though since I use woodstain I tend to use separate "dirty brushes" that I don't use for other projects so I won't accidentally tip them and get nasty chemicals in my mouth

another brush licker I knew I liked you for a reason
I only ever went to 6th grade camp, and hated almost the entire time. I was the second fatest kid there, but unlike the other guy I fit into the opening of the cave we went spelunking into. He got wedged in the opening I felt bad for him, especially since it was pouring rain outside and everyone was pissed at him because they were stuck out there in the rain. My best friend at the time was thrown from his horse while riding it because it got startled by a copperhead snake. He broke his arm and went home . Theast straw was I got lost at night when our panty raid was interrupted by one of the girls counsellors returning from the event they were at and we all scrambled out the door. We didn't get caught, but I was out in the woods for two hours on my own before finding my way back. I didn't even get any panties out of it .
Started watching walking dead again. Really wish they'd put season 5 on Netflix already. I've only seen 1-4 and I'm almost to the point of going and buying season 5 just to see it . I NEED ZOMBIES.

Is there.. any other way to legitimately point your brush? I like.. freak out a little whenever I can't do it. Kind of like having a 'big red button of DOOM' with a DO NOT TOUCH sign on it. You probably won't.. but man it's tempting even with consequences.
Huh, interesting experience! I probably would have been the kid who refused to go but promised not to tell, likely would have had some kind of book packed to keep my busy at that point.
I can't get into the walking dead. I'm at the farm/barn/Herschal(sp?) part of season 2 and it's just boring me to tears =/ The show is really presenting like Days of Our Lives (with Zombies!), or whichever Soap is more appropriate. You know what I mean... love triangles, pregnancies, civil unrest, etc. There are only occasionally zombies and it's usually pretty awful when there are. Not so much awesome zombie carnage gunfights, or clever survival tricks etc, nah mostly gore.
At least from what I remember. I guess they did sneak around covered in zombie guts that one time.
30672
Post by: Theophony
I liked the Herschel farm house part because of the character development. If it were all just zombie fighting then most of the peeps would be zombie food. They need to show some of the survivors strengths beyond just who was a good shot, or who can swing a mean axe. The civilization needs to be seen teetering on the edge. Plus it gets better (won't spoil it)
70053
Post by: GrimDork
I've heard it gets better, that's why I'm trying to grind through it a piece at a time. Also, I usually will only watch it when I'm flying solo, don't want the three year old watching people eat people =/
I don't mind character development and drama, it's just part of where I am right now. Kind of like how Supernatural eventually gets to be a Soap +monsters (well mostly demons and angels at that point) and even Arrow feels like a Soap with a bow. I realize those things are probably more interesting to other people, and I don't just want action... I'm just weird about some shows right now I guess. Kind of like how I can't listen to music that's even remotely slow at this point, just a taste shift I'm somewhere in the middle of...
30672
Post by: Theophony
Well they had to add the soap opera feel to all those shows to bring in The chick viewership. I'm waiting on more Arrow and daredevil as well. Seems I'm stuck in the dulldrums between seasons.
I try and wait till the kids are asleep, or occupied with other things and then slip away to my cave to paint. But I guess that's only been possible the last year or three as the kids are finally old enough to occupy themselves now (12,10,10). Honestly if it's a show I've already seen then it's just playing in the background.

Haha, mine's only 3 but she occupies herself just fine what with the mini kid-tablet and her various toys and play-doh type things. Just occasionally wants a top off on her beverage or another snack or similar. I liked daredevil too, not as sure if the other 3 B-list super heroes (well, at least I don't know nearly as much about them as, say, the x-men or avengers, DD I know plenty though) shows they're planning for Netflix are gonna be as good though. And then I think they get their own mini-series.. the Defenders or something? Could be neat.
I think I'm behind a season or three on a couple of shows I've been watching too.. but ehh I'll just power-watch them sometime to catch up or whenever I resubscribe to the appropriate service.

Post by: Theophony
I was a super X-men dork growing up, but I really dislike the x-men movies, don't get me started on how bad the second one was . Juggernaut was not someone to truffle with. I have a huge clection of comics, mostly X-men and their brother titles including issues back to the original x-men titles number 2,3,5, 8 and 11 then pretty much every issue from the 50s-300. Had all the wolverine issues from the first mini series and all the crossovers and 1-75. If they ever came out with an inexpensive (not knight models) 28-32 mm marvel miniature game I'd be hurting.
Back from the camp meeting, lots of good stuff .
Hopefully I'll get some painting done tonight to catch back up to the pace I had going. If not hopefully it's because I got sidetracked by another idea that I want to try out, still zombie related, so not really a distraction.

Post by: GrimDork
My uncle split his old (70s?) comic collection between my cousin and I. He got the hulk and maybe.. x-men? I got DareDevil and Spiderman.
I do not regret the split, though I do like both of the other things.
Spidey is probably one of my favorite superheroes if I really think about it.
Good luck catching up

Couple of zombie soldiers, one was obviously doing electrical work at one of the camps when it got over run and he turned.
A couple of business people, ones a legitimate (street)worker and the others a tax accountant

Sheesh, nice work, fast zombies.
Almost tempted to buy a box or two of that stuff just to do something excessively fast too. I mean, my plague and strain mutant/zombie/things paint up pretty quick too but cleaning them takes as long or longer /sigh.
Wonder how those guys scale up with Mars Attacks... may be a good way to have a MA zombie campaign (though probably not as accessible or fun as a proper Zombicide run).

theo... i just told my wife about you putting your kids under duress and using blackmail to clean their rooms... lately it feels as if we are the last two parents in the world to use these classics in raising and teaching kids... we usually refer to "no sweets" no "TV" as the kids are seldom on their WII and still are too young for anything remotely mobile or PC related...
and i was once very big in marvel comics... collected about everything and even hunted for backnumbers... but... well... then i needed the money and puff all was gone... after that i got family...and i never returned...now whenever i see a marvel movie it leaves me with a slight pang of remorse not to have my comic books back... and mind you even being in germany i collected the english versions as you just can´t stand the dubbed versions...the horror... and if i had to choose... spidey, wolvie, magneto... in that order...
also...never understood the hate about the xmen or for that matter the FF movies... i really like them all... and for my own opinion they were all perfect screen versions...the only downside with the modern versions was that they turned nearly everyone into a mutant than "just" a super being...

@Vik, I just felt the movies were so "without character", but after knowing so much about the characters and only getting a tiny bit of it from the movie I was let down. That and I dislike movies that use star power to attract the masses. I think I would only have used Patrick Stewart as Xaiver, and wolverine, everyone else would have been no name actors.
@Nerdfest09, , glad my brother in law doesn't follow this thread
@graven, thanks, I like the big guy as well, too bad his head lacks definition, he reminds me of the koopa (spelling???) the supermario villians.
@grimdork, fast? I'll show you fast. Here's five more
Oh and I e been kicking around this idea for terrain.
The DUST buildings have been sitting around for a bit, but they match scale REALLY well with the Zombicide figures, they are appropriate for time scale (older American looking town) and are cheap with them being back in stock at miniaturemarket.com on the clearance table. It will be a side project so as not to derail the figure painting. I think I'll try and make pieces for the doors and windows to look boarded up, but be removable for gameplay. What is on the table now is just one box of operation zverograd, I want to pick up at least one more.

The walls perfectly line up on the exterior wall drawings for the buildings. I'm thinking foamboard walls for the inside room dividers.
Well since my last check in I've finally got my lawnmower working and the lawn mown. It was just bad fuel I guess it's all been sitting too long unused. Never had a problem before. But the vacation and then the heat kept me from using it for longer than usual, and I was scrapping the bottom of the gas can so I guess the impurities had built up.
So after the grass I went to the basement to cool off. Knocked out another 4 zombies
I've just been reaching into the pile and grabbing random ones, but keep getting duplicates. I guess it's bound to happen as there are lots of copies of the same figures.

Lol Vik, that guy is going to be the posterboy for all sorts of rock bands. The other version that I've done of him already had a light grey shirt with OZZY on it. I'm not a fan of their music, but he reminds me of two rockers we had in highschool that would wear the band t-shirts all the time, plus the pose is just one that reminds me of when the singers point the mic towards the crowd to cue them to sing.
Well I finished waywatcher greening 20+ more zombies, only 24 more to glaze and then paint all of them. I wanted to rock some numbers out today and it seemed to work decently.
Wife is on my case about painting so much and not spending time with the kids. I e given them options, but they just want to chill with their iPods or watching Netflix. I work at church the next two mornings but will be free on Thursday to hang out with them, hopefully I'll have plenty of zombies done by that point(I think I'm good right now, but would like more done) to introduce them to some zombie killing fun.
Also stopped by miniaturemarket on my way in and picked up another operation Cerebus box. I can now make a 6 story high rise building or cover the Zombicide boards with the exterior building walls. Hopefully the plan is to just make wall sections that match each tile, so they can get repositioned for different scenarios.
I've also decided to only get one of the knight pledge levels for Black Plague. That will help with opening up funds for more terrain and contemporary Zombicide stuff. I still need prison outbreak, and Rue Morgue.

It's a genetic thing Vik, no escaping it.
My job doesn't require a ton of thought, which is good on nights like tonight when I've got miniatures on the brain. I've been considering one of the board sections and how to make it "work". It has the inside of a auto repair station complete with the hydraulic car lift drawn on it. The problem was the walls from DUST don't have a garage door type set up, so I've been trying to figure out how to "fix it". I think I'll just have to use two of the corner pieces as the door frame and scratchbuild a garage roll up door for street level. I was also thinking how to make an opened version of it to be able to swap it out for when the survivors enter inside.

Zombies looking good!
On the lawn mower, gasoline gels over time. You want to put fuel stabilizer in the can if you are going to let it sit for a long time. It doesn't usually come up, but not a bad idea over the winter.
30672
Post by: Theophony
Thanks wehrkind,
I've ised the same gas can for 12+ years and stored it the same manner (on the floor in the garage). I think the biggest thing is that the temps were almost 100 degrees for a week and humidity was close to the same. All this while I was on vacation so the can stayed still. Usually doesn't work out that well, but it could just be that I have been gambling each time and finally rolled ones.
No painting today, it's a good thing I got ahead the other day.

Thursday I have a play date scheduled with my kids. Zombie killing will be done, and encouraged. I just hope they like it as much as the train game (empire express) that I taught them a few months back. I'll play either, but I'd prefer to have this more in depth game where I get to use the models I have painted up. Of course the train game has Crayons, so either is a good use of time. My littlest one (Lilly) is super excited, my son I. The other hand asked if there was a computer version of it .

Well... actually I would really like a PC/Console version of Zombicide. All the information is open so there is no downside to onscreen info, and frankly moving all the zombies around and in between turn segments get a little tiresome. Plus it would help people remember what order they are supposed to go in We always seem to lose track of that.
Oh, and a turn timer would be nice. I can never implement that with my family without seeming like a prick, but good lord they need it.

Post by: Theophony
@Grimdork, not if you don't have a computer , or it's more than three years old.
@wehrkind, chess clock shaped like a coffin , of it goes off then a zombie spawns in your square, flip top card of the spawn deck and one of whatever pops up under your (the the groups highest) experience band appears. And it's attracted to you. So if your in a square with other survivors it will attack only you next turn.
Might actually get a game in tomorrow as Ive put in more hours at church so far this week than I normally have this early in the week. I'll probably go in for two hours and then pick up three on Friday to get ready for the weekend. My wife has to go up and work on her classroom to get it ready for this year, so I will need to go in early to be back to hang out with the kids.

so just finished with our first game of Zombicide
Sarah, Zack, Lilly and I played the first mission and it took 2 1/2 hours, and we all died within a turn of each other. Sarah (my oldest most headstrong child) took her two survivors (Amy and Elsa) off on their own where she lost Elsa pretty quick, and got Amy cornered in the opposite edge of the board as everyone else . She managed to keep slipping away for a few turns. lilly was the first to advance to yellow level, well before everyone else which made it harder game wise, she was using Wanda the waitress, who I traded the chainsaw too, which almost got her to the orange level. Zack kept searching even when all his slots were free, even forgoing killing zombies to do it. His one character Jish did manage to make a Molotov and then kill a fattie and two walkers at once. I played Doug and Phil who both got hurt early on due to the stupid "all walkers get an extra move" card. That card is what killed us all in the end. Sarah finally couldn't maneuver anymore and Amy got dragged down by the last of six walkers she attacked with a katana. She killed five, but could have made it out if she didn't waste a action searching. The following zombie phase Lilly lost both her figures when the walkers get an extra move card happened again. Then the following turn saw zombies pull back to back walkers get an extra move and runners get an extra move which wipped both Zack and I off the board at the same time. We just needed to grab the last two "X" and get to the exit, but those cards had followed a massive zombie spawning at the location right next to us .
Tomorrow will see more zombie action
I ran out of painted zombies on more than one occasion. Mostly because my wife didn't want me to play with the female zombies who's thongs were showing

I'll try and get some pics of tomorrow's game. It was intended, but between teaching the rules (and learning them myself), I had my hands full. I think I may have screwed up big time, but it's how they did it in Zombicide: Black Plague, when they opened a door to a building I spawned zombies in each room of that building. I'll need to go back and check that for tomorrow.
Some take aways from today. Raoul's webbing ability is great when he has a bunch of sawn off shotguns. It lets him use any item in his possession as if it was in his hands, so he could fire four sawn offs when he reaches yellow level and they auto refill at the end of his turn.
Wanda is fast on those skates.
Being alone sucks.

Okay so we got five games in over the last four hours. I'm mentally exhausted. The first four games went fast. We played mission #3 which is just get all survivors to the exit point on the other side of town. The first game went okay until Sarah decided to run ahead and then the group got cut off, so we lost as ALL survivors must make it off the board. The second game Sarah decided to open the first door in the deployment zone and then charge the two runners inside . Not enough actions to kill them both, didn't even kill one of them, and she was the last player that turn so it went to the zombies turn and they did two auto wounds on her, killing her and ending the game on turn 1 . Third try we just tried to run for the exit without stopping to search for anything. Unfortunately the person carrying the axe got wounded and had to drop it (only starting equipment that can kill a fattie) and then a fattie spawned right in front of the exit point . Needless to say those survivors can no longer be called that. The last game we made it out alright, even with me having the brilliant plan of cutting through a building to bypass the last spawn point. The building was jammed with fatties and runners .
The final game we just finished we decided to do the mission where the winner is the first to achieve red level. I need to search online for some answers as I couldn't find it in the rules about cars.
If a survivor is in a car can zombies get to them? I would think no, but it doesn't say they can't. Either way we all had fun while speed bumping some zombies.
Lilly was trapped and by herself and wounded in a spawn point, so I went over to help her. The next turn only a few zombies spawned so I thought everything was good and we could fight our way out. So I killed 2 of the four zombies and then Lilly who was the last player that turn pulled a brave sir Robin and ran away. Leaving two zombies to eat me as the turn ended. She was all grins and she won the game two turns later.she gets her deviousness from me .
Some pictures later, but none of them really turned out well.
Over all I think this is the BEST game I've played in years. Might even be best over all surpassing Necromunda , either way it was well worth it.

From the way you describe it, it must be one of the best games so far...and it is good to play with your kids and have a good time. You feeling better? That one last sentence was creepy as hell...especially since I yesterday watched WWZ. And my mind is still trying to dive upwards to reality in parts...that movie got me...I don't like movies that have kids as optional victims...that's too close to home...

@vik, I just meant that this game might be better than Necromunda. I was just hedging my words because there is so much love for the Underhive here on DakkaDakka and especially within the LoER.
Just got some explanations on rules in the boardgame section, seems we made some wrong decisions with rules and the cars. I thought it was way too easy . Being in a car with a zombie outside the car gives you no protection , it just makes you fast food . You can also shoot out of a car, but the targeting priorities still stand, so if you are in the car with someone else you still shoot them first . That's the one rule in Zombicide that makes very little sense to me. The target priority goes 1-survivors 2- walkers 3- fatties 4- runners so if you only have weapons that cannot hurt a fatty and there's a fatty and two runners in the same square as you...... Your .

Vik, you need to read this book https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Zombie_Survival_Guide
The movie was garbage.

Post by: Viktor von Domm
there was that scene in WWZ where a Z smashed the windshield in with its head.... i highly doubt that a mere car will ever be enough to stop zombies from having a fast food all you can eat meal... talk about "not-a-happy-meal"...
and red... i am on trail for that book...
but to be fair... read the first book of waking dead...(the comic...) and wasn´t that impressed... to me the show is much better... honestly...i think the book left much to be desired that the show could "show" due to the characters looks and mimics getting more portrayed there...

Post by: Theophony
@Vik, I wasn't a big fan of World War Z, but I guess I can't say it's not realistic
@red harvest, will try and track down a copy of that for fun
@shaso, better in this case is subjective to the fact I'm older, have less time and I don't have to worry about a whole lot of terrain (don't hate me)
@grimdork, it has it's better parts, less tracking paperwork, easier to find opponents, and can be played solo as well. On the other hand it is also lacking of terrain.....at least for now. It doesn't go vertical until I decide to come up with rules for stairs and such, and there's a sincere lack of aliens, mutants, scum and chaos worshippers. Although the game could easily be modified to any system. I mean use a space marine as a survivor and then when the walkers show up substitute an Orc, when a fattie shows up place a Nob, when a runner shows up place a speed freak or stormboy and when the A-bomb shows the. You drop down a meganob. You could also substitute in termagants, genestealers, hormagaunts and warriors. I'm not up to date on necro a or other species, but those are possible as well. You could have imperial guard guys as survivors as well. I'll try and dig out my dreamforge troopers this week to make some survivors from them too. Change the background a little and you have space Germans fighting off a plague of zombies created by accident while looking for a cure to the disease that wiped out earth.
Anyway, I got a couple hours of painting in today and since we were running out of all types of zombies during the game I did a few of each.

Hate you for lack of terrain? I have a few prefab huts, Dave now is one with a whole hive city built for crying out loud!

Post by: GrimDork
Moar zombies are looking good. I was considering using the mars attacks rules for other models in a similar vein.
30672
Post by: Theophony
@shaso,Dave's fallout terrain would be epic for Zombicide. We need the master back here with more than just his Gencon Haul
@grimdork, you want moar zombies???? So do I while cleaning out my car yesterday I found a punchcard for the other FLGS that I go to, they sell everything at full price , but stock GW paints and everything is out for display and they have I think 6 tables for miniature games and plenty for card/boardgames. They also rent their upstairs area for regional magic tournaments. It's where I've played X-wing when it came out. So I stopped there on the way home from work last night and used the $10 off coupon to buy
20 more zombies 4 each of the construction worker, cop, sailor, Santa and punk rocker. It also comes with some special cards of exclusive weapons.
I'm thinking of making a little sign and making a "YZCA" instead of YMCA.

i recently got me zombies!!! the boardgame...i fear it wont be as fun as zombcide...the scale is also weird...hmmm...
also...at red... and all that read the book... got me the zombie survival guide...

So the VIP are Very Infected People. They come with their own spawning cards and instead of 1 point each they give you 5 experience points each. And if you kill one they also give special weapons that do better damage (three desert eagle cards,2 are in other languages, but will get used, a SPAS12, and a Thompson machine gun. The desert eagle has all the same profile as a regular pistol except it can deal 2damage so it can kill fatties. Fatties are a two damage creature, unlike warhammer it doesn't mean you wound it twice and it dies, here you need a two damage weapon to kill it, it can shrug off infinite one damage shots with no problems. The SPAS12 shots 3 times a turn, not sure of the other stats.
No game today wife wanted to take the kids to a classic car show this morning/ car parade. There now, see y'all later.

Post by: GrimDork
Booo classic cars. I about got dragged(drug?) along to a destruction/whatever derby last night. I mean it may have been fun but it was definitely at a small town so probably not that spectacular. Probably still gonna get hornswaggled into a day-tri of some kind... maybe I'll be able to engineer a gamestore visit if we pass by any
Desert Eagles sound useful.

Well we got a quick game in before lunch. My oldest daughter is learning the value of teamwork the hard way. She keeps running out ahead of everyone and trying to do things all on her own, she initially succeeds, but then falls victim to jumping ahead of everyone else making the game harder. Zack decided to split up his two survivors and came to a point where he had to lose one of the two or use that survivor to run over his own guy . In the end we all got mobbed by 10+ zombies in the same square as our last four survivors. Sorry no pics as my phone has issues with all the little models and the playing boards. I added more equipment into the deck, the weapons from toxic city mall and angry neighbors. We're still only using the basic zombies right now and for the foreseeable future as I'm painting them All the greenish skin route.
We also had to explain to my son what a "Pimp" was...and prostitutes, and how wrong that is....
70053
Post by: GrimDork
Bwahaha... uncomfortable questions raised by dead hookers, ehh?
Sounds like real life lessons to be learned playing zombicide
30672
Post by: Theophony
Even worse, the game has police cars and pimp cars. If you search the pimp car you get a rare weapon (1 time only per game), and it says pimp on the car. So that's where the question came from. No dead hookers were involved....till the description phase.
70053
Post by: GrimDork
Bwahaha bad enough!
Gold plated desert eagle in the pimpmobile huh?
30672
Post by: Theophony
Yarp! it looks good, but it's not titled as such, and in a game where there is a gold AK47 and a pink M14(???maybe M1) I think it's just visual.
I actually just took time to read the VIP rules. The box comes with five sculpts (4 of each) for a total of 20. They come with spawn cards specifically for VIPs. When they spawn you place random sculpts out. When you kill the VIPs you place the models on your dashboard. When you have 5 unique sculpts you get to choose one of the pimp weapons (ma's shotgun, the evil twins, flaming baseball bat, etc etc). Or you can just use them as regular walkers.
Either way I want to kill Santa. The other VIP set has a guy in a hotdog suit and a guy in a old fast food restaurant outfit (looks like steak and shake because of the hat). I forget what else is in that set off the top of my head.

Derek the construction worker. Really don't like the head/face/hair on this guy.

He looks great! The jacket especially. Have you tried Dead of Winter btw?
30672
Post by: Theophony
@graven, thanks he's got a lot of details in crazy spaces, like the jacket. Also checked that game out, miniaturemarket a out of it right now, so I added it to my wish list. Maybe for Christmas. I think I skipped over it because it has paper cut outs of the figs instead of figures.
We'll need to wake the kids up for church. But in the mean time I finished up another survivor and her zombivor twin. Tiff the zombie killing rocker girl who gets to start the game with a sub machine gun I think that's a little over the top, but hey it's a game of killing zombies.
Plus she has an Axe/Axe (an axe made crime the head of a guitar , not a GW axe/axe which would be an axe with a combi axe attached to it)

at first i thought it was a teddy bear
tho, i have to say, for that one, the zombivor model looks even cooler^^
30672
Post by: Theophony
I definitely like some of the zombivor models better than the actors. I didn't see what you meant by the bear at first, but now it stares at me. I'll have to give it some more attention this week. Another survivor and zombivor are in The early stages.
I've got a school appointment in the morning and the wife starts back to school tomorrow as well, so we will see what gets done.

Post by: GrimDork
Good luck
I think if you were gonna use some of the zombivors for another game, the main difference I'm seeing (minus paint work) is that the zombivors have torn needs and maybe some ragged clothes. Some of them are obviously zombie poses but, as with your punk rock chick there, some of them just look a bit like a disheveled version of the character.
39666
Post by: GiraffeX
I like that zombivor version as well, looks very nice.
She must be a mean zombie killer starting with two axes and a sub machine gun.
30672
Post by: Theophony
@grimdork, the zombies will probably get used elsewhere, maybe the survivors if I do a game like Necromunda, or make my version of Red Dawn.
@girrafeX, she has a pistol too , but only starts with a smg.
Having lots of fun with Zombicide. I don't feel like I'm wasting money on plastic that I ruin with my painting.....skills.... And the gameplay is fun as well. Can't wait for Black Plague to ship (hopefully pre-Christmas). Also the Blood rage minis will help keep me motivated. Got a message Friday saying that packing has started in China. Once the containers arrive here in the states everything will go quickly as all the stuff will already be packed and labeled, so it's just toss them on the ups/fedex truck.

Jeff joins the fight as well. Down to my last survivor and zombivor to paint up and he is partly done in the background. Wasn't ready for sleep last night when I got home and the wife was already asleep since she starts back to school today . I love her, but I'm glad summer is over, well next week when the kids go back then summer is officially over .

Nice. Lot of axes around. Lucky for the other survivors that the zombie version doesn't get to keep that rifle
Got some peace and quiet lined up while the...everyone, is at school?
30672
Post by: Theophony
@ Grimdork, zombivors are still the good guys. Somehow they have overcome the virus and keep fighting the good fight against the brain dead zombies. When you actor dies in game you lay him down. The next turn he rises up with all his skills, experience and equipment in check. He now has 5 wounds (3 technically as his previous version had 2) and can still do just about anything he wants.
Leaving for my meeting. Hopefully this person agrees with the last two people and says I can graduate after this last class. Otherwise I'll be ticked off.
I did go and use the krylon honeydew spray paint on the VIP models just now, so hopefully by the time I'm back I can check to see if they still paint up the same as the other zombies. My biggest concern is the waywatcher green glaze/ink, and if that will adhere the same.

Best of luck Vik I hope you get the job your wanting, I know you've been working hard to finish your degree.
Well had my school visit, old paperwork needs to reconciled. Either way I can graduate at the end of this semester. Either I take a BPS (bachelor professional studies, or if I get one issue resolved I'll get my B.A. Business admin, or if I get all my ducks lined up then my B.S. In business administration). Or I might have to take 2 more classes to get my B.S. Either way I just want to finish and have the degree.
When I got home I finished a special treat
The honeydew color spray is a little lighter than the rotting flesh, but I think still doable.
Played Zombicide the last 3 hours. 1 game, we won with me losing one of my two actors. We each drew two random actors, I got Wanda and Ned. Zack got Amy and Tiff. And Sarah got Phil and Raoul.
In arush to leave for work.

So I wasn't scheduled tonight my new Monday nights off for school started a week early, so home for more zombicide . We just finished another 2 1/2 hour game and the kids are begging for more, I think I created a monster .
@ Grimdork, didn't notice the similarities until you mentioned it , looks better in person though. The tone is still drying.
Speaking of drying, I knocked these out before the game
Adam is my last survivor and zombivor to finish
Two more runners, we keep running out of these during the later part of the game, the girl I had originally painted with regular flesh a few weeks ago.
30672
Post by: Theophony
Well we played again this morning before I left for work, I tried out some of the new guys that I finished up and we also allowed the Ultra red weapons. That was carnage in a cup . My son wiped out 13 zombies in one turn of shooting, plus moved, and searched. Luckily he wS already in the red level .
70053
Post by: GrimDork
Haha, sounds pretty epic. You just need to use bigger monsters if they get those guns
30672
Post by: Theophony
Oh trust me at that point there were plenty of fatties on the board, even an Abombination. Zack used Wanda and skated up to a herd and cut loose. His other actor the. Walked up with " Pa's Gun" and shot three fatties dead in one turn. In a previous turn I used the ultra red katana and slaughtered 7 zombies in a turn. The ultra red weapons are what make the game playable when your up to red level. My first actor died because we were red and he was "safely away" from any harm. Then the next two zombie cards were spawn 3 runners next to him and runners get an extra turn . That's how you loose people. We lost another actor when she opened a door and it spawned a fattie in front of her, then the next card turned was fatties get an e tea move, which moved it next to her (she had a wound early in the game) and the next card was fatties get another action . Sometimes you can't win.
30672
Post by: Theophony
Well no too much progress due to lack of time. Repainted the flesh on these to match the rest of the zombies.
If I don't try and take a nap today (which is an outside chance) maybe I'll get some painting in.

We played for about an hour today before the bickering between the kids sent me for a loop and I packed the game up. Got a bit of a chill out time for myself as they hit every last raw nerve I had this morning. Got home from work and decided to paint for a bit. So I finished one of each of the other sculpts from the very infected people go as well as two more runners. The VIP had been sprayed with the honeydew color spray paint and then hit with waywatcher green. They are a bit lighter but I think they turned out okay.

Lots of kidney stones, stopping all urine from going into bladder. 41 walkers
2 abombs
10 fatties
16 runners
14 survivors
14 zombivors
2 companions
5 VIP
2 zombies being linked by servo skulls. Automatically Appended Next Post: So 80+ since July 2nd, with a week of vacation in there.

One punk was finished so I just completed the other 3 the exact same as they are VIP I want them to stick out.
Also the zombiecop called in reinforcements.
Also painted the same as each other. I think I will do all the. IP the same as there are still sailors and Santas who would all be dressed the same and the construction workers can also look the same.

@grimdork, rightey-oh, plus once everything gets matte sealed I can make them a bit fifteen with blood splatter.
@Cam, thank you, Dad is recovering well, still needs the doctor to decide on surgery or breaking up the kidney stones with ultrasound.
Well we had a nice family day so far as we went to the pool for three hours, and then out to lunch. Lilly got a stomach ache even before the food got to the table so lunch was taken to go. She's feeling better now , but still not up to full zombie killing more yet. Swung by miniaturemarket.com with my son as we went to do the shopping that we were all going to do after lunch. Didn't get anything this time, but they have a little forewarning of a sale on their website (summer ends 8/18/15), which I think is about the same time they did their big clearance sale last year before restarting it as the Black Friday sale.
Might still get a game in tonight, if not then definitely some painting will happen.

Well a bit of progress today on the zombie front.
All the sailors are done now, I guess shore patrol didn't go so well
And here I thought they were Union workers , oh well same mentality
Last but definitely not least are the four Santas of the zompocalypse.
Well that's all 20VIP completed, I'll have to see what I can finish tomorrow before my class starts up.
Also will be bits diving to see what I can find.

Regarding the Santa's...I think the lot would greatly benefit from heat bending their arms in different poses....due to color scheme and stance these are the most uniform looking models of them all...but all around very clean paint jobs! I like the Santa Zombies, mainly because their just plain creepy .
I do agree with Vik though, other poses would look really good with these. I imagine one could be dragging a sack across the floor, with presents spilling out the back.
Or another carrying an old teddy bear. Basically anything that make's them look creepier.

@redharvest, well as soon as they make those ill make a YZCA display
@Vik, I was definitely thinking of a Santa bag, full of snacks left for good old Santa.
@hk1x1, I just wish I could make a Santa sitting on his chair for little zombie kids to sit on his lap....creepy
So I've got some time this morning before kids get moving so I will be painting and searching for bits to send out to Vik and Grimdork for some projects they have going on. Already found Grims orclings that I never use....
But the next set of zombies I hope to get will be the VIP set 1.

@grimdork, yep, flat guys are dead and squished into the ground. But they can be snuff casualties...yes???
Well we played a game or two today, my off day (1st class tonight) and I painted some more afterwards. Which was after mowing the lawn.
So these five were just finished, but I woke up early this morning and painted before the kids got up. So here's the outcome of that.
There are six here, so 11 total figs for today. Maybe more later tonight as I stay up late to see what the miniaturemarket.com sLe turns out to have.

VIK, the secrets all in not trying to make a display piece. Plus any mistakes will be covered in bloody gore later.
The orclings come one to a sprue (maybe 3, can't remember) they can be grouped together on a 40mm base as a unit of orclings, really nothing more than a speed bump for an opponent, but the point costs are cheap (I think 10points). Also they can be decent basing additions and I think can be used as gear for the Heros. I think there are zap sneaks and stab you sneaks as optional buys. I haven't looked at the old rules for a while and I'm waiting on my 2nd edition kickstarter stuff to ship.

I don't think I'll stay up late, sleep is a precious commodity right now... But I may check if I get woken up at 2-3 anyway. If they're out of stuff they're out if it.
Nice zombie progress.

Well I tried to go to school today. I always leave an hour early, today I left an hour early and sat in traffic, usually takes me 15 minutes to get there. Major accident with 18 wheeler blocked my usual route. 1 1/2 hours later I made it 4 miles (6.4km to the metrically inclined). I gave up as I was 1/2 hour late to class and still 10 miles (16km) away and not even halfway to where the accident was. We might get in another Zombicide game or more painting.

Balls! That's lame. I guess there wasn't a convenient alternate route, huh? Bummer. I hate missing the first day. At least you have an excuse. I took summer classes one semester and went in on tuesday expecting to have my first two classes. Turns out they were on Monday =/ I had looked during the sign up period and was convinced they were tuesday, never even checked closer to the day of class

Similar thing happened to me as I was taking classes at the university and at the junior college at the same time, the jr. College started a week before the university . Another semester I had finally sat down with an advisor to see what I needed to take still and she scheduled my classes for me. I told her I was only available on Thursday evenings at that time and she scheduled me on Tuesday nights. She had gotten confused and thought the capital T meant Thursday not Tuesday. Needless to say it took a while but I got a full refund for those classes.
Kids are outside playing with a neighbor kid, so I'm currently chilling, my car has no AC, and it was 90degrees (that's hot for the celsiusly inclined) while sitting in traffic. Might go paint

Terrain and zombies, OH MY!

@grimdork, yes it is and you talking about rattlecans
@Peter, welcome, and yes zombies and terrain
Well rattle cans were used, and brushes, and of course paint.
Welcome to Zombicides version of Woodbury. I need to try and use the strong tone on the building still.
Automatically Appended Next Post:
Edit: Well I finished the other side of the corner piece of terrain for Zombicide. Including hitting it with the strong tone coating. This will be the terrain for board 2C, which is used in a few of the missions. I still have to finish the inside of the building, so this is more of a test for the outside of the terrain. Also watching red harvests latest building....build has given me an idea of the windows. I'm hoping to make the windows modular so I can swap them with a boarded up piece to use in game. That way the boarded windows can be removed to show "open door".
What's everyone's opinion of the colors.

I m a bit under stress, but for what I remember of woodborrow, this looks spot on! I'm about to head to my gallows...job interview...with management...argh

Post by: Theophony
Thanks Vik , from the images I searched of Woodbury these colors are actually much darker. They had more sandstone and cream/whites, but when I tried those it didn't turn out looking too good, so I went with the darker granite color cornerstones. The wood look actually is just the brush strokes showing through the brown paint, but I think looks decent.
No worries on your interview. You'll knock them dead...or at least walking dead

Building colors look fine. Will you be weathering the piece?
30672
Post by: Theophony
@Red Harvest, nope, at least right off there won't be any weathering as I like the timeframe of right after the outbreak of the zombie apocalypse more. Where people are holding up and hiding out waiting to be rescued, and have yet to start building fortresses and the buildings haven't been abandoned yet.
Miffed that Miniaturemarket hasn't started their sale yet. I stayed up till 1 am waiting for it to load. But I guess it will kick off tomorrow, just wondering why they'd put today's date on it. Some of the local schools around them started back today, others right near it (my kids) start back tomorrow.

Post by: GrimDork
Yeah the sale thing ticked me off too. My guess is that they're going to deploy it during the day, or possibly hour by hour in stupid lightning sales like they do on Amazon meaning I'll probably miss out on anything I want. Oh Well, saves money.

well... it was me against three management damsels...and i knocked them...well...they laughed at my jokes and scribbled furiously on their notebooks...i take that as a good sign...and we four lived to tell the tale...the undead are not known for story telling....which is a blessing as i doubt it would be with much variety..
and...was something like that your reference?
then i think your´s looks even a bit more convincing, as there was before and after the governor a mighty bit of battling...so more decay and soot and grime is rightfully shown...

Are you planning to convert the entire Zombicide board to 3d terrain? Seems like you've got quite the project ahead of you.
30672
Post by: Theophony
Well that WAS the plan Barzam, but while the DUST buildings work great for the corner buildings (including the one where it's one room in the middle of the board), making them all interchangeable is proving a pain in the . The solid long walls of buildings that go edge to edge work fine IF I don't make them modular and reconnectable, but because of the male and female parts of the buildings it just doesn't line up right. I'm thinking of making a couple of the boards (scenarios) that the kids and I play more often. Then I can take some liberties, especially with where door placement occurs, as the only doors for dust are part of a big panel piece. So on scenarios where doors are needed in certain spots I think that's where I will make the windows where the boarded up slats can be.

Back from church work, eating, then will get ready for the full time gig. Then I'll give painting a go. In the mean time I got an update from mantic on the KOW2 pledges, they ALMOST got enough stock to ship everything, but they get the rest of the kickstarter exclusive model over the next few weeks and "begin" shipping the week of August 31st . So much for their vaunted we always ship on time spiel. They didn't get/order enough form what was listed in their pledge manager . But they have enough to ship stuff to stores .

Post by: GrimDork
Heh. I'm not too worried about it but I think I am gonna tryto stop backing kickstarters for anything but the exceptional 20 models for 20 dollars pricing, should they continue to do that come Warpath.
30672
Post by: Theophony
Even those kickstarters I think I'll pass on unless they are a proven company, have the sculpts already (not drawings) or is someone I know. As for mantic.....once I have my rule like I'm pretty much done with them.

Post by: GrimDork
Bummer, but understandable.
I'm gonna wait to see what they do with warpath and how well the DZ infestation revamped rules come out.
30672
Post by: Theophony
I didn't put anymore into infestation. Mantic got my $1, but that's it. I passed on the bikes and the forgefathers in the end, even when they reopened it and I had money to spend. I figure if I want to play a GW knock off then I can use my GW figures to proxy. I have more than enough marines, and the enforcer style doesn't get me excited. The forgefathers are great looking, but once again it's a genre where I have enough scifi guys in power armor to begin with. Never got into dread all. I had ordered it, but then canceled it because I failed to read a line on their advertisement, and I felt put out . Besides I have my beloved Bloodbowl for sports mayhem. They previewed some metal add one for the orcs In the newest email turning the orcs I have plenty of into skulls by doing metal arms with bows. Seems stupid since they have a plastic skulk from dungeon Saga, but once again ALMOST.
Well in the meantime I did paint today, got stuck on yellow it seems.
8 more zombies (5walkers and 3runners) after our last game it seems like I'll have to focus on fatties soon too.
70053
Post by: GrimDork
Nice zombies
Well, the plastic skulk(s) they have in the warlord of Galahir expansion may or may not be cost effective to make into regiments. Given how much they charge at retail for single figures even made in boardgame materials you'd be looking at probably 5-8 bucks a pop to build a regiment out of 1-2 poses. The metal arms are probably cheaper, though I never cared for hybrid kits.
It's a free country though, you needn't like Mantic stuff if you don't want to

Guess who's doing the KS exclusive mini... Prodos Games. Who haven't finished fulfilling their own KS either lol.

Post by: Theophony
A pox on prodos games and their house......too late, they seem to already have a few of those going for them.
Not a lot accomplished gaming wise today. I got four models painted, but not toned, and about another half dozen or so partly painted. No pics due to incompleteness and laziness.
On the better news, my dad has been released from the hospital and is now home. We are convinced it's due to the nurses being tired of dealing with him. He didn't want to call them for a sponge bath, having seen a few of his nurses I can understand why that's ugly, so he got up on his own and took himself into the shower WITH his IV pole . He has done a few other things which won't be named here, but just goes to prove stubbornness is what has kept the human race alive when we all should be dead a million times over. He got home last night and I found out this morning so I drove there at lunch time, got wrangled into filling their brake fluid, seems the brakes were out in the van on the way home , and my dad slept through my whole visit. Good times.
After reading other comments in the KOW2 kickstarter section I remembered I have a Dungeon Saga late pledge coming sometime in the future. Since I late pledged I have no tracking on it and don't get the updates, so it was almost a great surprise. Also seems I'm still getting Conan alerts, so I might wind up getting the pledge manager for it as well, which might mean I could still back it, but would limit what I get from Black Plague. Hard decisions coming.

ouch....it seems a certain whole generation is made up of weird persons... ...this stubbornness i know...
but good news.... getting out of hospital is ALWAYS better than staying there...even for one night!...Germany...can also be read as Germs ...many... ...so home again...good...the brake stuff...baaaad....man... he and whoever drove him back must have spent all the angles times left...lucky fellas...

I'm surprised the Health Insurance Companies here in the USA don't provide hand held stop signs for patients, stop signs that read "Stop! Wash your hands before you touch me." and in smaller print "or my insurance company will sue you." or words to that effect. So many vectors for transmission, including the doctor's nice white lab coat...
The zombie force is growing exponentially. Very realistic.

no wonder, finishing a foursome so quick...and then six of these just afterwards...stamina is a good thing...but it can only last for so long...
also...the pocket thing....think of it as a payback to a certain thermos story on my thread...
and....i vote for a group shot too^^
and p.p.s....damn...standards are at a very low if these four above are what makes you..."brush"...*wink, wink, wink*

I was hoping for a group shot in a couple weeks. I still have around 30(guessing) zombies left to paint up. After that there can be a group shot. I might snap a pic tomorrow if the kids and I get a game in as we have to sort the zombies out every time before game. I've been contemplating making a zombie box to keep them all contained, might have to snag some official Biohazard stickers from work to adorn the box. I just haven't decided if I want to buy a case for them, or use a regular box, or get crazy with it. Suggestions are always welcome.
@grimdork, the horde is nowhere near Shaso's army size....but they can start to usurp some of his troops
@Vik, I'm just glad no one noticed the foursome was all guys (Whoopps)

Post by: GrimDork
I like custom cases in theory but the one I'm making for Imperial assault was perfectly serviceable when I started.. and at it's current stage it likes to bleed paint off onto your hands when you handle it even though it's been done (to that point) for weeks. So it depends on the case really. For something like boardgame minis I would use something cheap to store, I mean they're dipped and sealed so pretty tough.
24297
Post by: Viktor von Domm
it was noticed.... but i kept silent about it...but who is judging
also... i think the biohazard stickers for a custom box is a cool thing...something like a IKEA box, the clear ones with some foam inside...and you´re set...

"Honey, bring me X. It's in my purse."
"I'll bring you your purse"
"No, just get it out and..."
"I'll bring you your purse."
Lesson learned many years ago.
Plano makes all sorts of cases, and reasonably priced too. I use them for storing counters, markers etc for board games ( and Infinity) rather than plastic bags. Keeping things organized means less time setting up and more time playing
70053
Post by: GrimDork
Yeah I like a lot of Plano stuff. Or even cheaper stuff like the bead-organizers from Hobby Lobby. Wouldn't take them fishing (not that I would go anyway..) but they get the job done for sorting bits and unpainted models. Or sealed boardgame bits.
I like making custom cases out of the Plano XL accessory/4-pistol cases too, if you want something with foam that won't break the bank ( but takes a little effort to do).
30672
Post by: Theophony
I'll check out some Plano boxes, but also think finding a beat up old wooden box might be neat as well. I was also considering using the styrofoam refrigerated cases that we get at the hospital that they transport samples in. They are large, white styrofoam with the biohazard symbol stuck to the side. Anyway I go I grabbed some of the orange Biohazard stickers last night. The last option I could try would be fine a large lunch cooler like they use to transport organs .
In the mean time the family went swimming this morning and I got lazy time, which I needed. So I added seven more to the ranks of the horde. I wasn't to happy with these guys, but shear numbers of zombies mean there's bound to be some that were dressed funny by their mom
Also took a count on the remaining zombies. 35 left to complete so maybe a family shot later in the week.
