To enjoy the benefits of eating fish while minimizing exposure to mercury, you should eat mainly types of fish low in mercury and also limit your consumption of types of fish with typically higher levels of mercury.
Fish are important in a healthy diet. They are a lean, low-calorie source of protein. However, some fish may contain methylmercury or other harmful chemicals at sufficiently high levels to be a concern. Federal, state and local governments issue fish consumption advisories when the fish are unsafe to eat. The advisories may suggest that people avoid eating certain kinds or certain amounts of fish. Some advisories apply to specific water types (like lakes). Some may focus on groups of particularly sensitive people. Some advisories include notices of "no restriction" to tell us that certain fish are safe to eat. As states increase the waters they monitor for contaminated fish, both the number of advisories and the waters where it is safe to eat fish are increasing. Visit the links below to learn more about mercury in fish, fish consumption advisories, and state fish advisories.
If you are concerned for your health or your family's as a result of exposure to mercury, get in touch with your health care provider. They will be able to tell you if mercury exposure is a problem for you and what to do about it.

I see they added mercury to the water levels over here but to much in an area (which I will not mention ) lets just say there were side effects still seen to day ……..

Agreed! But you know damn well that people would buy you vending machines and if that base is any indication custom bases. If you are ready for a change I know people will buy your wears. Small at first then grow to more product range. You have the talent to do amazing things in this hobby. Profiting " a little" isn't the an evil thing.
I really dunno LDD, it's just like PVC pipe, but apparently sprayed or formed into sheets?? Thicker than styrene, but stronger, yet it has a toasted marshmallow texture about it when cutting. 1000% easier to cut than PVC pipe though. I got a supply when I bought the Raboesh styrene display rack.
I think it is the stuff that will be later known in 40k times to be "Plascrete"

40mm eh? I can do that, no problem. I have never had an Ogryn fig, so I never knew what size bases they used.
These are all drilled and pinned, so no problem removing the minis.
Add me to the to buy list I will have a load of these Galron casting these up ? Will you be doing them in resin or plaster ? Resin I hope it will ship better
The bases will need to be cast in resin, I don't think Hydrocal would be very condusive to the occasional figure diving from the table. The same molds will work for either plaster or resin though.
i am really impressed of your artful way of making customized bases!!! the sniper base looks good enough to be eaten... fortunatly that won´t happen as i see yet again a very creative man not being able to model but to cook surpreme as well!!! that pic of your brisket was very tasty to behold!^^ the list of ingredients was yummy as hell^^... if but my family was more into meat... i would surley try this too...
i second the need for bigger bases for the supie mutie^^ it has to be done...AND! i want tosee you come up with something bigger for a base...biger canvas gives you even more oportuities to go ballistic with your modeling!
and that new mini you showed...marbo counts as... looks very bad ass... yesterday we watched avatar on TV (TV premier here in germany...) ad it reminds me of that evil commander..(forgot his name...)
also: i have now on my to buy list: PVC foam...have to see what it is called in german tho...and that green putty... it is on my tobuy list or quite some time now.,..
well it sure was a pleasure to see that nice meal of yours...had it already? hopefully it was all yoiu expected it to be^^
as for basesizes...well dreadnought size...and then bijer size as well... also have you thought about making a scratchbuild roughrider of yours? i think that would be a cool project for you... maybe with a hint of fallout too?...the more i thikn of it this sounds like instant win!^^ for all of us even if you not cast it then...
as for your new found way of riveting.... i recently came to a shop that sells granny grating...this way of yours needs to be investigated upon on the hightest level... you know...scientists have to cross test theories for the matter of true acceptance of those to get acknowledgment
The Brisket was soooo tender, it fell apart in your fingers! And sooo packed full of flavor! The fat drippings into the cider liquid, made a sweet and tangy gravy that was excellent over the potatoes and sweet, fresh veggies!
I slept like a champ last night

So 25mm round (check)
40mm round
heavy weapon/Dreadnought round
Rectangular mount bases too?
What kind of textures though??
We know I've already got rivet-covered tread plate covered
What else?
There ARE a lot of custom bases on the market already, How will mine be different than the rest?
What is important to you that will make you purchase my bases over the others?

This IS the scientific Method Vik! My research needs to be reviewed and tested by my peers!
I would like to say the walling section is a good way to go with your bases, most market base bases have small parts of destroyed brick wall rather than a larger section as you have done.
Plus the flooring detail was an extra cool touch, maybe kept along the same lines but ad some small piping to the walls electrical boxes hell even a broken sink
Plus the under flooring damaged piping showing, these are what have really made these stand out and work for me, you could add a wooden flooring or more a concrete looking one.
For a lager base you could add the remanent of the second floor, the part of the floor section just above
Glad you are casting in resin that works best for me
Always a post-slog after the weekend! And where to start?
First off, I am now hungry for Brisket, Gyros, Meatballs, and Butterscotch Pudding. Damn you all.
The bases look amazing Dave! If you are making more for casting,I just want to say make sure there are no spots in the pipes and such that are too deep. They won't cast well. First hand experience talking here. But you know some of this with the floor and wall sections you made before. And if you make the rebar too long or crooked, they might not come out well too. But I can't wait for these! I'll get some for sure! Are pre-orderes being taken yet?

I know...tell that to the people hounding me every time I fart to make a cast of it!
You just can't make a working mold out of any old thing, it takes planning. It isn't even possible to make a mold out of LDD's sniper base is has so many undercuts.
It doesn't work that way.
Sometimes, I just want to build stuff (well all the time really).
RSJake wrote:Yeah, but you know, you could just make it your way, and let whoever is casting it worry about filling in the undercuts and stuff.
.
I am!!
because:
1. I don't know what I am doing with Silicone
2. I don't have the set-up
3. I don't have the suppliers
4. I don't have the time and patience to stop, and figure out why my gak isn't casting properly (like your current problem Jake), and you HAVE to, because you are so far invested in it already!
So, if I get cranky, it's not because I think "cast them herpa derpa" is a bad idea, I WANT to be able to make millions of identical copies (who wouldn't?)
..... but it is because it is just not in the cards, on the table, or even in the stars for me right now.
It is a stupid idea for me to try and build the masters, make the molds, cast, market, and sell them all myself. It's just not practical.
Contrary to popular belief, having faith, and wishing really hard does not make something come true, doing so only sets you up for failure. And I get cranky when I am set up for failure, it happens to me ALL THE TIME in my work life. I can smell it a mile away, and I'm just not going there.

I truly LOVE all you guys/gals who follow my blog, I really do. The friendship, the perpetuation and evolution of ideas, and the talent pool is the most awesome thing I have ever experienced!
if you tell me it needs more rivets, I can solve that. If you tell me something looks wrong, I can solve that. But if you tell me to "cast it" I can't solve it, because I have no means to solve it, and not being able to solve problems REALLY frustrates me and makes me cranky and I can't help that, it is the way my brain is wired from working in IT for 15 years.
I can see that. And we just want you to be happy, and keep making your amazing stuff. The casting side of things has a very steep learning curve, and while it's not rediculously expensive to get into, there is an expense that made me stay away from it for a long time. I am by no means great at it. Only like 1 in 3 casts comes out worth a darn, but I'm getting better. My trash bin is mostly full of cut off sprue, not failed attempts.
But it is fun once you get into it. Trust me.
But I won't say anything else about you needing to cast something. I promise.
But just keep it in mind...you know...in case you change your mind.
The granny Grating with the round holes was something like $0.75 a sheet at Michaels, pretty cheap really. But I think that drywall bead stuff that POX is using on his great board project
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/120/391965.page#4132870 would also do the job. There is much experimenting yet to be done with the putty method!

by the way... what i would like to see, if you care to accept the challange is:
wooden floors
sewer bases?
bases that look like tops of crates and other storage thingies...
Remember, everything split three ways (including set up costs) as well as profits.
If one enterprising individual has the free cycles to do both the marketing job and the molding/casting job and he/she takes 2/3 cut- well then, more power to them! It just isn't for me is all I'm saying.
Hey those rivets are sexy.... but not as sexy as power cables
Na don't bother casting those, only when you work on something several hours in a row so it's worth copying... got to pack a lot of detail in there first

Dave, unless you used a 3D printer, I wouldn't compare the basses. I have to tell meyself that a lot. Sure, there are some amazing things out there, but a lot of it is printed. And yes, they are really detailed and look great, but it's like comparing apples and oranges.
I'm not saying those bases from dragonforge are 3d printed, but they look like it.
I know it takes some skill to use the 3D programs, but it's a bit like cheating. IMO.
Hence why I play FO on an X-box! with the PC you can cheat like mad. I know a fella who makes himself immune to damage, thus eliminating the risk factor(And part of the fun) as he basically walks about having target practice. But of course on a console they do hand out achievements for healing with food/stimmpaks/sleep, etc.

A 200 c/ml mold is about 13$ worth of the smoothon sillicon. The typical volume of a base is between 10, and 15 c/ml.

Thanks Max, I didn't measure, just spooged some putty on the base and spread it around, Probably more than 1mm, once the granny grating is pushed into it, I scrape any excess spooging through the holes with a knife blade, it keeps the rivets (or safety mat, whatever) all at an equal height.
GS would probably work just as well though.
The BoS guys are already basically a gang (need Juves or initiates yet), and I'd love to expand the Enclave and Super Mutants into gangs as well, problem is the lack of different Sculpts for those factions so far by Brother Vinnie. He only makes 2 diff sculpts of BoS, and I converted 4 uniques from those two sculpts so far. Vault Dwellers, and Raiders can be converted from just about any figs. I have a bunch of VOID 1.1 minis and some cool Reaper Zombie hunter minis, and some 28mm Miners fro mBadger Games that will work well for other gangs. I need some Riot Police stuff to make Rivet City Security and/or Vault Security gangs too.

Go for the larger base with the manhole and any of those logos would work although 3rd top and 4bottom are my favourites you could raise the man hole slightly on one side and have a mutant arm sticking out slightly, just a thought
The stain looks quite good for showing the detail, but I think the green rivets would look better with a coat of paint and stain, just to show it a bit better
P.S. Copied those logo's hope you don't mind m ate
I was just playing around with different fonts in Visio, but yeah, if I can figure out how to cut all the elements seperately, we'll have a League Logo kit (some assembly will be required)

dsteingass wrote:no, I have a Cricut, it's basically a home CNC machine marketed to scrapbookers.
I remember this from a n early discussion, a little tampering with the software if my memory serves me correctly you should market that thing for the hobby world you know LOL
Automatically Appended Next Post: Yep, hacked...It's cool to use, but the real learning curve is gettign the graphics to have a single path, that is the path the blade travels-.
I don't know, but it only scores .040" (1mm) sheet styrene, it doesn't cut all the way through it to be "popped out" like it does with really thin .010 styrene or paper or card.

Dave how do you create you images then are they just down loads from your PC
Dave how big are those Aquila's if you don't mind me asking. I was just thinking about airbrushing my thunderbolt, I was thinking of doing the Aquila look on the wings
I can cut them as big as you can print them on paper with that font. You have to think in flat layers. Just change the size of the font, like you do in Word.
The machine will cut any Vector Graphic, but it has to simplify the path in the drawing...it's hard to explain...google it for more info. it's a PITA sometimes.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Yes, normally, you have to buy Cricut's propriatary cartridge ROM's for different fonts, graphics, etc... But alas, the hacked part
hey dave... i like the idea of making a good looking league icon.... tho could i ask a favor?... could we have one without the dreaded warhammer skull? that is something the league is not standing for...after all we create things...we build them... to make them last for ever^^ death and decay...seems very unlikley for me to get involved and i think the skull is standing for that...i hope i am not spoiling things here...
^vik is making complete sense.. and besides.. the =][_,= is a society not just military, if there are different symbols we use to signify different obligations.. why shouldnt the League have different L's and symbols for different purposes

QFT!!
Like a small building or something for industrial Riveters! Stuff like that! Each "Occupation" could have a different symbol on their -=][_,=-
I think there should be a league chapter affililiation emblem. Like, mine would be large walkers (for the most part) or a flyer. Vik could have a robot., dave some cool guns crossed over each other or better yet his =]_,= could be emblazened over a really cool mini base........

Stuff like that.
LDD's could be blank..... LOL
Hey ……….
Why not an extended middle finger ……….. or a fat bloke
Just a quick sketch of possible symbols. Some are cheeky, like the chicken leg, for food service rivets, but you get the idea. (well, someone did make a rivet cake...so there you go.)
I think we could have a standardized walker for Max, Vik and myself, is there a need to differentiate between walker sizes? Maybe, who knows.
