i've been lurking for a while, and this is my first post;
just got back into modelling after a gap of about 20 years, and I just wanted to say that this thread is awesome and has so much inspiration/ideas in it. great stuff.
So here is my just finished Sanguinor/Sentinel kitbash/conversion/mashup/monstrosity!
I dont game, just make models, so know idea what he would count as - a dreadnought, I suppose?
was inspired by the SoB penitent engine and was initially just gonna try to use sanguinor as a pilot for that kit, but decided creating my own mech frame would be more fun ;-)
made from:
-finecast Sanguinor, with a FW mk4 head (never really like his regular head - looks too cherubic for my tastes, plus i love the more roman look of the head i used)
-legs from IG Sentinel
-assault cannons/launchers/iconography from DA ravenwing upgrade sprue
-grey knights banner (i suppose the sanguinary guard banner would be more apt, but i'm gonna paint him as my own character/chapter colours, not BA, so who cares)
and I used no green stuff/filler, which i'm quite proud of too ;-)
oh, and this is what happened to sanguinor's wings:
which i am also quite proud of, even tho its a simple bit of work, i really like how well it all sits together...

I got this idea stuck in my head and just could not forget about it until I had done it. It was eighty dollars for the bits, but it was worth it. At five wounds and five attacks, this guy is scary. Give him The Quicksilver Blade and he's got six plus D6 AP3 attacks on the charge at initiative six. Add stuff like the EW and AW artifact, gift of mutation, sigil of corruption, ichor blood, combat familiar... Even with all that he's STILL cheaper than a decked out Daemon Prince! He can even ride around in a rhino or Land Raider, counting as three models.

I actually like the tiny legs on that dread Incarnate, it gives a nice top-heavy hulking look to it. It's just the tiny feet really, not the legs themselves. If you had some nice Tyranid carnifex feet I would say those are perfect.

Actually, long ago when I first dipped my toe into the world of professional money-wasting, I ordered a boxed set from GW that came with Fabius Bile and his enhanced warrior retinue. Only, when it arrived it contained Fabius...and seven more Fabiuses. So I've had a glut of Biles laying around offering up their limbs and backpacks to chaos.

My best conversion is probably my XV8 derived from the new farsight sculpt. I do plenty of conversion in my armies, but it usually involves just swapping out a head, weapon, etc. This isn't the most impressive conversion, but my goal was to make a crisis suit that resembled the new codex art for crisis suits (waists, slender, smaller head, and retractable hands to name a few features).
The conversion involved: swapping in a broadside head and adding a left antenna, cutting the model apart at every joint for reposing (elbows right shoulder, knees, ankles, hips), cut underslung plasma rifle to be mounted on left arm, straightened the right wrist and drilled out the hilt that remained from the dawnblade, replaced the right shoulder with a plastic XV8 one, cut a plastic XV8's rear torso off the jetpack, and mounted it onto farsight's torso, then green stuffed any gaps The posing was a pain because every joint was articulated - so I ended up standing in my room, looking into a mirror to see how the joints should be placed lol. I'm happy with the results..... which sucks because that means I got 11 more suits to do

It was actually; I'm not that great with GS so I had to find a different way to add the wraithbone on the Alarielle model. Luckily, there are farseer models made from finecast so removing the wraithbone was a lot easier than if it were on pewter.
I think it turned out well.

I used a chaos spawn body, and also the hands/ a little part of the arms is from a chaos spawn. The backpack i from a raptor. But everything else like the lower part of the body, the head, the most of the arms, is just greenstuff.

A friend of mine does a LOT of converting. He just can't use stock models for some reason. Given that he's a GW employee, he gets stuff really cheap so he just goes sorta crazy on his stuff.

the models awesome but doesn't really fit Skarbrand. I feel if your going to use a model as a special character it should be pretty similar to them. Sekar brand carries 2 axes and has tattered stumps where his wings were ripped away. Would make a cool BT/ DP though...

Here is Serevin Corr, PCC for my fledgling Savlar Army.
He's mostly from the Cadian Command Sprue, with some forgeworld bits.
One of my standard bearers.
Mainly a kit-bash of Cadian and Catachan bits with the golden bit hanging off the standard from the lizardman saurus box.
And lastly, my lascannon team.
Mix of Cadian, Catachan, Tomb King and Victoria Minis bits.

It's a storm raven + chapterhouse back end. Carved and converted tail, new scratchbuilt cannards and the roof has been partially scratchbuilt to move the wings further back like a storm eagles.
Heavily inspired by the storm eagle, my next one will be closer again with lowered wings and a more prominent triangular roof line like the eagle has.

A priest for a Rogue Trader game this weekend. Sword arms a GK PA arm with the bolter trimmed off (and covered the area with a purity seal), the heavy chainblades just two chainswords. The flamer is an IG command bold pistol arm with bits of GK incinerator. Heads from the Empire Militia, body and robe is greenstuff, legs are IG.
EDIT: and my god does the paint need fixing now I see it this close. Ugh this is why I don't like taking pictures of things -_-

Between being a little short on cash and needing an artsy creative outlet, I've been doing a lot of converting for my orks. They're a really forgiving army to convert, with lots of room to be creative. Here's my favorite:
He started out as bits of an AOBR warboss, the body of a Rat Ogre I picked up on the 40k blackmarket, and the shoulder from a Killa Kan. He makes a pretty great impression.

Pictured are a couple of Noise Marines (one with Icon of Rolling Stones, the other with Britney hair) and their personal Rhino (scratch built).
The big guys at the back are a Nurgle obliterator and mutilator (the remains of a particularly corrupted terminator squad).
The army's cultists were able to loot enough parts to construct a vindicator counts as, a warmachine the mutilator had commissioned.
Stage left are a few of the army's Death Company berzerkers. Chaos has tainted their visions, leading them to believe Horus turned Sanguinius against The False Emperor.
Up front is my lord after getting a little too 'chaosy-whaosy'. Getting spawnified is a common occurrence for him, but fortunately the warbands Sanguinary biomancers have perfected the mago-surgical process of returning him to a form more fitting to an Astartes of Slaanesh.

Tedward, funny you should ask that as I'm building a kitbashed Warhound as well dubbed Gorehound. It stands about an inch shorter than the official FW model at approx 9.5" but it's built completely from GW plastic kits. The Stalker stands pretty much half the size of the Hound.
Still very WIP.

yes they are.
Those are the oppressor patterns 0, you also got the tracks with a 1.0, but those are baneblade sized.
For a landraider or equivalant, you have to trim a little nit on the size to adjust them, but other then that they are nice.
What i did is to use the stock tracks of the LR that is under the LR, to have a flat base and also to avoid damaging the tracks and the tables, and only used the oppressor tracks on the visible parts of the LR.

Here's how I turned my Valhallan heavy bolters into autocannons  Here's a really quick Necromunda Heavy I converted from my bits box for a friend starting out in Necromunda   Here's a few green stuff wolf pelts   Some or the combi-weapons I've made for my Wolf Guard  This was a Black Reach terminator and I drilled out the helmet to add a Space Wolf head  And some of my Thunderwolves This one has some minor green stuff to make it look like he's grabbing a hold of the wolf's fur  And my Thunder Lord

Jetseer conversion I finished off yesterday for a friend's birthday present. Mostly happy with it, although I had to put in an ugly piece of brass rod as a support for the "seat" portion, and there's some sloppy plasticard work on the underside that I didn't have time to do justice. I probably should have removed the magnetized rider in some of the shots, but I was short on time when I was taking these pics, and the model is no longer in my possession.

I needed a meaner, badder looking Abaddon to lead my Black Legion adversaries as the original seemed too small next to the new Chaos Terminators. Here is my attempt at the Despoiler himself.

the Hell-Sak is made from Plague fly wings, the lower part of the Heldrake & neck and the Tervigon abdomen. The Maulerfiend is a little more simple, it's just the tendrils smoothed and added suction cups and converted the head to have a split lower maw so he looks more menacing! the Daemon prince uses a head from Nightmaw and the arms from the Vermin Lord model with the Demon prince axe head added and of course the prince's body!
