£30,000 - Anglecynn Gesith Infantry Starter Host
0 Comments
Wow! This weekend you guys are on fire - you're knocking those stretch goals over like nine-pins!
Thus, here we are again, with another stretch goal you guys can aim for - and this time we're bringing you some metal Anglecynn in the shape of the Gesith Infantry Starter Host!
Increase your pledge by £60 to get a hold of this infantry starter host, just like the rest!
Æthelglyth Resculpt
You'll note some interesting words in the above graphic - namely "Æthelglyth resculpt"... well, thanks to the amazing Yannick Hennebo being probably the best sculptor of females in the world, ever, we've decided to resculpt the lovely Warrior-Maiden of Mierce (one of our first miniatures) and get Yannick to give her the attention she deserves - once the above host is unlocked, of course!
We'll produce Æthelglyth in both resin and metal, please note. If you'd like to purchase her in resin, increase your pledge by £10 or, if you'd like to purchase her in metal, either purchase her as part of this host or purchase her separately by increasing your pledge by £6.
Because of Æthelglyth's resculpt and because our casters have a huge amount to do already, this host should ship in February 2016. They may ship earlier, but let's give ourselves room to manoeuvre, just in case.
More stretch goals to come!

I thought Savrar were 30K?

Post by: Bolognesus
Nope, those are much further up apparently. Next will be Fomoraic (warriors of Baalor) as per Mierce in ks comments.

So most likely NO Savrar this time around...

Ayup.
Might be for the best -keep this focused on the metal-rejig and deliver promptly, what with the complaints of Mierce delivery times from kickstarter projects stretching further and further out.

With Fomoraic £32,500 and other Kindreds already mentioned as in the Stretch Goal Pipeline, yeah.

£32,500 - Fomoraic Warriors of Baalor Infantry Starter Host
Incredibly, the project sits at £29,000 - and with the second Ysian host now unlocked and the second Anglecynn host near, it's time to give you something more to aim at - the second Fomoraic host, containing the Warriors of Baalor and other goodies!
Unlocked at £32,500, increase your pledge by £60 to get a hold of this infantry starter host, just like the rest!
New Toracx!
The Toracx Unit included in this host contains an existing miniature - Báintaac - and two completely new Toracx, the first for this project in fact! We thought Báintaac was getting a little lonely...
If you'd like to purchase the Toracx Unit separately (and it can only be purchased as a unit of three, not individual warriors), feel free to do so... here's their prices:
• Resin Snorting Toracx - £45
• Metal Snorting Toracx - £36
We can't give you much of a discount outside the starter host as, of course, there are two completely new sculpts.
This host should ship in February 2016. They may ship earlier, but let's give ourselves room to manoeuvre, just in case.
More stretch goals to come!

The tarvox is as new as these (which are basically reposes of Baintaac!). Same with Coniunct. (And probably a few more)
Also, don't forget the drinking buddies, those are equally new.

I wish I had funds for this one. I already spent most of my annual hobby budget on Zombiecide BP and there are a few things I want to get in Bones3. I really need to sell off my 40K stuff and put the money into more fun projects.
Hopefully once the big rulebook is out the game will gain some more momentum. There's still some models I want to add to my KS1 Ysians but to get the best value out of the KS campaigns I need to go big and they always seem to catch me at the wrong time. If more stores in the US started carrying the game it would make adding a few models at a time much easier.

Post by: Bolognesus
Even a small pledge now will get you access to the 'pledge manager' store later on; if your budget might recover sufficiently in the next few months it might be best to get even just a small pledge in so you can get a nice starter host later on.
60720
Post by: OrlandotheTechnicoloured
Well pointed out Bolognesus
The discount on existing minis tends to last for a month,
and everything else can be bought at KS prices up to just before they start shipping each wave
so the hosts with the new stuff in will probably be available up to Feb 2016 (or a bit later if things slip)

£33,750 - Egaendr, Gríthír
0 Comments
The stretch goals are being knocked over so quickly that the monsters are getting left out. That's going to change, because here's a fantastic beastie for the Norse - Egaendr the Gríthír!
The mighty Egaendr is of course a Griffon, a Gríthír to the Norse, a huge lion-raven that stands on a 100mm base and is around 100mm tall. It may be wild and tempestuous, but some proud Norsemen have even been known to ride such creatures into battle!
Egaendr is based on the Ysians Ungefelic miniature (well, it's body!) and will only be produced in resin - he is too big to be produced in metal.
Increase your pledge by £35 to get a hold of him, a saving of at least 30% from the eventual RRP!

£1 would be recognised by KS as a donation. I think the £10 pledge is fairly self explanatory. I'm currently only on a £10 pledge, wish it was more. I'm sure I'll add more when funds allow. This project has made new factions more accessible. Automatically Appended Next Post: ...funds low, mainly because I ordered a big Darklands figure this month. Great range.

Post by: RiTides
The conversion rate always hurts me trying to put in for £10 on the Mierce campaigns, that and the fact that you only get access to the old stuff for a month (but access to that campaign's models for later on is nice) and can't usually combine shipping. I usually end up asking someone else if I can jump on their pledge later, instead (thanks, Alpharius!)
I think Wehrkind, who is localish to me, is going in somewhat heavily here so may end up going that route if I feel I must have something from here (but without the savrar unit that's less likely - not blaming them for not unlocking it though, Chaudon is a busy man already!).

I think most of us around this side of the pond end up going in on various KS pledges of other people. I have...2 different Mierce things coming to me from others, and I think Creature Creater from you...
9594
Post by: RiTides
Yep, Creature Caster (eventually ). It actually makes a lot of sense for all involved ( imo) for people to combine, as it results in less available wargaming funds going into international shipping. Obviously doesn't unlock stretch goals, but if it's put in at the add-on stage then they also don't pay the Kickstarter fees.

Consider yourselves lucky if you've got Miercenaries in your area. Only one local to me is Barzam, and he hasn't succumbed to Darklands as badly as I have.
Since Khthon is probably a no go this time around I'm probably going to end up with some Fomorian infantry I think, especially considering just how many 100mm+ monsters I've accumulated for them.

£35,000 - Brythoniaid Rhyfelwr Infantry Starter Host
Well, here we are at £31,000 (!) and the Fomoraic host is almost with us - so it's time to bring you another one... this time for the Brythoniaid, in the moustachioed shape of the Rhyfelwr Infantry Starter Host!
Unlocked at £35,000, increase your pledge by £60 to get a hold of this infantry starter host, just like the rest!
Note that the Rhyfelwr are not yet sculpted, but the lovely Yannick Hennebo should be starting work on them next week. This means that this host should ship in February 2016. They may ship earlier, but let's give ourselves room to manoeuvre, just in case.
More stretch goals to come!

I believe Mierce said that these two little piggies are brand new sculpts, not repose/alterations like the other monsters.
It would be nice to at least unlock the Spear Vras, so that they can actually become a semi legit kindred. I would prefer the Sarvar to get released, or at least something for the Khthones. I'm really surprised that they didn't do a host with the Gorgorar at least. They're thin snake women, and I'd assume they'd benefit a lot from a metallic overhaul.
60720
Post by: OrlandotheTechnicoloured
I'd guess the problem would be they'd either end up being a host at about 2-3x the cost of the other hosts,
which means there would certainly be new folk who'd not notice and end up disgruntled
66013
Post by: Bossk_Hogg
They could do a Gorgorar starter, it would just need to follow a different formula (but then again, so did the Byzanti). The other factions roughly total £165 .
Gorgorar unit £80
Thelliatiss £25
Ágriosávra £15
Eikovra £20
Myrkranio £15
Totals £155.
Alternately
Gorgorar unit £80
Thelliatiss £25
Myrkranio £15
2 crocs £50
Totals £170
Each gets you a commander, a unit and a caster. I'm not sure on how the gold costs add up though.

I'm tempted to go in for a starter set on this, looking at the ysian set with the brutes. The only thing putting me off is small parts in metal that can't be pinned, and those antler helms look like they would all need doing. Can anyone either confirm, assuage these concerns? Cheers

The antler helms were fine in resin, I dont think you could pin them they are very small joins. I dont tend to pin metal models at all though including Infinity minis and not had much of an issue, as long as they dont get bashed about in a case they should be ok.

£36,250 - 750 gold upgrade III
You lovely backers have unlocked the Atalantes and Jute Infantry Starter Hosts, so let's give you a stretch goal to increase your host size to 750 gold!
Increase your pledge by the amounts indicated to get these miniatures in metal!
Automatically Appended Next Post: £34,750 - Gogg, Moroghurüc
Just for completeness' sake, here's a monster for the Albainn... a mighty Moroghurüc called Gogg!
Gogg is a big lad - he stands on a 120mm base and is around 130mm tall - as he's based on the awesome Mjagnir miniature for the Norse. Suitably Albainn-ed up, he becomes a Moroghurüc with the choice of either a Cyclops head (one eye) or Giant head (two eyes)!
Gogg will only be produced in resin - he is too big to be produced in metal.

I've been consistently receiving product since I backed the first KS and there are few KS with comparably reliable communication and updates, which is why have no problem throwing money at them on a semi-annual basis.
It's great to be a part of million dollar projects that just blow up, and to contribute to neat ideas made reality, but there's something special about being a small part in making something of the depth and breadth of the Darklands universe a reality.
I might even put a model together at some point.

If you read his original complaint, it's that he's coming up to 5 months late for the delivery of the last of what should have been released there.
That said, Rob mentioned at one point in the KS comments that he expects to have all the KS releases aside from new kindreds and this past one completed within 3 months (planning another KS for then):
@JL - Oct... one every three months. By then, FE1, FE2, MM and both BB should be done, leaving just NK and this one.

How do any of you track what has / hasn't been released? I was considering a unit the other day, google'd it, and got the "this entry is restricted for your level of user access" page on the Mierce site. So many things seem to be stuck in "Kickstarter only" limbo for a really long time... I'm glad folks here are willing to add them on for others, but for most people that means they don't even know those models exist!
I know I've beat that drum, but especially with fantasy going into the nether, it's a great time to be trying to get wider adoption of the game. I actually really like the move to metal infantry by Mierce, to make them more competitively priced, so they are moving in the right direction! But as someone who only follows them somewhat attentively (but probably still more than the vast majority of gamers who don't check forums) I find it very difficult to know what can be bought, what belongs to which faction, etc.
The rulebook, of course, should help a ton with this, and maybe some site organization... but if people like me who are paying some attention have little idea what's going on, for outsiders it must be really opaque.
That said, if the Savrar unit is in the next campaign I'm 100% in for it, so there's that

It's confusing, particularly with delays to the initial schedule. But Mierce doesn't release stuff all at once as part of his strategy to grow the game - each month, he only officially releases on unit for each kindred, so there's always a stream of new stuff, but he doesn't overwhelm stores carrying Mierce.

I believe this is entirely possible, but there are a few things which still need to be worked out which could hold things up.
Someone has to sculpt Reoc's pack , that has been in limbo for awhile.
They have to work out whatever is happening with that one descendent that there's no artwork or anything for. (I think this was Max's second one, not sure what the deal was with this)
Roberto Chaudon has a lot to do. The majority of stuff that still needs to be finished from MM is all Roberto, plus he has to do reg Srok from the FE2 ks. He's amazing, which is why he's so busy. I (and probably most of the rest of us waiting for these models) would not change this at all. I WILL WAIT FOR ROBERTO!
There's still 3 infantry units which need to be sculpted for FE2. I think the same person is sculpting all of them digitally, which seems to take forever compared to hand sculpting. But I'm willing to be proven wrong.
The first 3 Darklands KS (WaW, FE, FE2) were BIG (for Mierce). There was a lot of sculpting that needed to happen to get through these, and the subsequent KS have suffered for it. Even though MM was a smaller one, there were specific artists attached to the models, and that can delay things. Dan, and Roberto being two of the most busy. Thankfully Aragorn stepped in to deal with Oso, and a few items from other KS before delving full on into NK. And Tim Prow has been killing it on the Banebeasts side.
I think it's ambitious to think that it could all be sculpted by October, but hey, who knows!?

Also hoping with the move to metal they can get it in more stores. I remember The Warstore was carrying it, but said it was hard to fill orders due to the cast time. From what I understand you have to babysit resin more. I think Rob hinted some units in particular, like the Warriors of Baalor, were a pain in the ass to cast. It sounds like whatever foundry they got to do the metals in gave them a swinging deal. Like I said, the cost per figure of a 10 man unit is considerably less per figure than what reaper charges for a metal 30mm fig. Age of Sigmar looks like an even bigger joke than GW's normal rules, so now is a good time for other fantasy skirmish games to strike. Automatically Appended Next Post: skullking wrote:

Yannik Hennebo took over the Rhyfelwr and Demilegionaries , and is doing them in traditional sculpts. That guy works fast from what we've seen, and bangs out some quality work, so they all should be done in a couple months I expect. Valentin Zak is still doing the Albainn Gairlom digitally. I think he's done 1-2, but apparently is tied up with something else and will be done in October.

I've had a pretty easy time telling what's ready and what's not.
If I see scales in an update on something, then I know I'll be getting something to look forward to soon.
Maybe wait and pay for ___ wave shipping when a fair amount of items are ready that you've purchased/ are interested in?
Considering we're pretty well kept in the loop when each wave is going to be shipping, and what will be in it, going forward that might be an idea if you order tons of stuff.
Still want to see more reptiles get converted in the Banebeasts line...

Those lizards, holy balls I saw the sculpts and they were impressive, but I never realised exactly how impressive until I saw them on those 30mm bases - they're teeny-weeny! I had the impression they were GW-Ogre-ish sized based on the level of detail of the greens. I'm usually a pretty human-centric collector, not many alien/fantasy critter species appeal to me except as adversaries, but damn. I was already planning to put together a few Mierce-based warbands for an Albion-setting Mordheim campaign, now I have to try and figure out how to include a tribe of Lizardmen because dayum son those models are gettin' bought.

Do we have any scale shot of the current savrar? I would love if they where more human sized, but looking at their bases they seem to be almost ogre-sized.

I have this picture here (using them as counts-as gatormen posse for Hordes). I can't take further pictures until they come back from Ramos Asura, who is painting them!
Those are 40mm bases, but you can see they don't have a lot of bulk to them, and Eikovra and Myrkanio are quite crouched down. Agriosavra is standing taller and really makes the others look a bit small, but none of them are bulky like ogres - they're very lithe, just take up a lot of space due to their poses (and tails in particular) so wouldn't fit on 30mm bases.
Also note that the big unit of metal models in this pic are shorter than an average 28mm human. But hopefully the bases (40mm for the savrar, 30mm for the metal models) give an idea of scale.
However, part of the reason I'm excited for a metal savrar unit is because these characters come in a zillion pieces each and are some of the hardest models to put together that I've ever attempted! But size-wise, I'm thrilled with them

I remember when I sent them I had that very same impression: Damn there are a lot of small pieces in there.
Glad to see they went together so well and look great there as a group!

I had a poorly painted picture of Agriosavra compared to a space marine and a Krokodar, the first of the Khthon monstrous infantry that got released.
The lizard isn't much bigger than a marine, but his body is a lot more splayed out and takes up a lot more space than the marine.
All those spikey frills on his head were separate pieces, and he has all sorts of fril going down his back and arms, and they were so freaking thin... ugh.
I so look forward to the day all that stuff is hopefully cast directly on the body and I don't need to glue it on myself.

Thanks highlord! I was actually googling around for scale shot of savrars and krokodars about an hour ago. The savrar looks a bit tinier then I first thought, they might actually work for my project of oldschool WHFB lizardmen.

How so? Is it the color? The Gorn was a bit more of an olive drab, wasn't it? And he had those weird multifaceted eyes.
(Unsurprisingly the Gorn was my favorite Star Trek character as a kid.)

How long does it take for your pledge to show up in your money-back account? I logged into my account I set up way back for KS1 and my Metal Age pledge isn't showing. Will I get email notification from Mierce when its ready? I honestly can't remember how it worked with KS1.

Yeah, there's typically a bit of a delay, as I think the pledge needs to be credited manually to your account.

I don't think the METAL AGE money is in anyone's account yet?
Usually it is in there pretty quickly, but it is taking a bit longer than usual this time.
I don't think you'll get an individual email alerting you when it hits, but Rob usually sends out a Kickstarter update saying "it is in there and everything's set up and read!"
I think!

Yup it's open season, and I've spent mine already too.. for new backers make sure you use your moneyback when ordering there's a tick box to fill in, and then type in the amount of moneyback you want to use, then click update Automatically Appended Next Post: the other important thing to remember is to buy at least one shipping wave (as I've ordered wave 8 & 9 I'll pick the 2 shipments items as I want stuff as fast as possible, it's horrible having to wait on that single mini that's really, really delayed but if you're patient or don't care one shipment will send it all once everything is done) if you've picked up a bunch of the existing minis you can get them sent ASAP with the existing items shipment option, but remember Mierce is busy with orders from previous KS, and with items for retailers, and has their master mould maker only part time as he's recovering from an operation and they won't actually see any of your money from KS for another 2 weeks so even if you pick this option you're not going to get a package tomorrow (my guess based on previous experience is 4 weeks give or take but if you really need something fast contact mierce to check if it's possible) Edit: remember don't pay for the shipping with money back Automatically Appended Next Post: when you're actually checking out you'll hit a section asking about shipping options,
this is for the normal webstore (but is too tricky to remove just for KS backers), so you need to work around it
just pick a FREE option if there is one,
if your order is small there may not be so just pick the least expensive option and contact mierce and rob will manually refund that to your credit card

Oh man, I was thinking the same thing... 10 pounds a pop hurts with all the different waves here (I know you can wait, but who here is good at doing that ). Another reason why folks combining pledges on this side of the pond makes sense!

Darklands II First Edition II
It's Friday, Yeah!
The Mierce Friday is here once more! As stated previously, we are now updating you every other Friday (bi-weekly if you will) to ensure we can spend more time getting the Darklands rules done.
It's been a while since the last one, simply because we've been so busy - but here we are again.
This week we have...
•sculpt work in progress images from Stéphane Camosseto and Stéphane Simon;
•a list of what miniatures are currently being sent in their various waves;
• an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let's begin!
This week we have something new from Yannick Hennebo and something completed from Benoît Cosse and Aragorn Marks...
It's been a while since we saw anything from Aragorn Marks, but here's a lovely little alternate, completed - Umaer Drast for the Albainn!
Umaer Drast will be a Wave 8 shipment!
After much uhmming and ahhing, we've decided to return to traditional sculpting for a few units that were originally slated to be sculpted digitally. Yannick Hennebo is our man of the moment and so we've given him two of the units, the Demilegionarii and the Warriors of Dyngonwy, Rhyfelwr Unit - with predictable results!
The herald of the unit, Cefin, gets the treatment, and he's blimmin' awesome! Check out that moustache!
These guys will be a Wave 9 shipment; there's no way Yannick can get them done in time for Wave 8.
The amazing Benoît Cosse has completed the Slaughterers, Krokodar Unit but in typical fashion the images leave a little to be desired... so here's videos! [check the update for the videos https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mierceminiatures/darklands-first-edition-ii/posts/1303618, dakka won't show them]
The lovely Okkáv is looking great!
Brudok is a brutal Krokodar and no mistake...
Finally, here's Maskó!
The Slaughterers should be a Wave 8 shipment!
Wave 6 and 7 shipments are ongoing
Thanks to Tim (our master moulder)'s operation, the recovery from which has not always been smooth, our moulding schedule has been put back by around a month - which means Wave 6 and 7 shipments are still ongoing and will be for some time.
We will try to get everything out as soon as we can, but there's a lot to ship - and as always we prioritise orders in date sequence; i.e., if you ordered early, you'll get your stuff sent early.
What we're saying, basically, is - please be patient! We are doing everything as fast as we can without compromising on quality.
Wave 8 should begin at the end of August, but we'll see where we are in a month's time and let you know what will happen.
(more info on what's been sculpted and by whom can be found on the update https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mierceminiatures/darklands-first-edition-ii/posts/1303618, I won't bother copying it across as the formatting does not carry over)

Monstrous Mounts update - Krekkek!
Sávrakhs and Pig-Bogs
The Mierce Friday is here once more! As stated previously, we are now updating you every other Friday (bi-weekly if you will) to ensure we can spend more time getting the Darklands rules done.
It's been a while since the last one, simply because we've been so busy - but here we are again.

Let's begin!
The mighty Roberto Chaudon has begun work on his sculpts from this project and we've another update from the lovely Gautier Giroud...
Krekkek
With everything finished from previous projects, Roberto has turned his attention to Monstrous Mounts - beginning with the mighty Krekkek, a Bull Sávrakh for the Khthones! It's early days yet but you can see he's taking shape - that circle is 100mm, by the way...
Krekkek will be a Wave 9 shipment, we think.
Beb on Pig-Bog
Gautier Giroud has completed Beb on Pig-Bog and he's looking superb!
Here's a scale shot, too...
Beb on Pig-Bog should be a Wave 8 shipment!

Dark elf Dragon rider!
Plague Demon, both versions.
Not bad, I like the plague demon, and Morley is finally getting the riders on those beasts.
Too bad there was no new kindreds update today, other than mentioning that frenzied Srok is finished. Glad Roberto is moving in to Monstrous mounts finally, can't wait to see him finish that and dig into the Atlantians!

I've almost talked myself into getting two starters and trying to introduce this game to my group. How far off from typical army size would one be with a starter set? Also, would you recommend the 750 gold upgrades or the 1000 gold ones? As far as I can see, both types have big monsters, but the 1000 gold upgrades have HUGE monsters.

July releases!
There Be Monsters
We're a bit late with the releases again this month, for which we must apologise, but the July releases are finally here and are very monstrous indeed! From both Darklands: First Edition and Darklands: First Edition II, these eight releases represent the ninth and third set of releases from those projects respectively.
The Albainn get a Mormaer on Pony, the Byzantii a Centurion and the Ysians Crom on foot and on horse in one pack, but the rest are all monstrous! The Anglecynn have a mighty Mægenwulf to crush their enemies with, called Cnebba; the Brythoniaid gain a huge and powerful lesser dragon, Parawn; the Fomoraic have Brunchaath the Vile on Gooracx to strike at their enemies; and the Norse get a cracking Troll King called Thórrir, the better to murderise the foe with. Oh, and last but not least, we have a superb Ancestor to bring to you - a sell-sword of the Friesians, Rikkard!
Sadly, we've not been able to get them painted in time for release, but the miniatures themselves are fantastic as always - and just like the previous releases, thanks to us being busier than busy bees we've just not had the time to get the release art and descriptions done; but you can still see some good images of each miniature on the website of course.
Dúngal, Mormaer of Dun Durn on Pony
The Albainn ride tough, sturdy ponies into battle, smaller than horses but perfectly able; and Dúngal, the Albainn Mormaer, is riding just such a beast here! Sculpted by Olivier Nkweti from the artwork by Sam Lamont.
Cnebba, Mægenwulf
Sculpted by the masterful Allan Carrasco from the superb artwork by Christophe Madura, Cnebba - pronounced 'NEB-a' - is a mighty Mægenwulf of the Anglecynn, a huge and powerful wolf-beast many times larger than a human!
Parawn, Draigllai of Idris
The Brythoniaid are all about the dragons, and this month we have a mighty Draigllai named Parawn, a lesser dragon than Angrislaug he may be but he is still incredibly powerful and his fire is deadly. Sculpted by the amazing Roberto Chaudon from the artwork by Dan Warren!
Equitus Durio, Centurion on Foot
The centurion, Equitus Durio, has been a while in coming but finally you have a powerful warlord to lead your Byzantii and Infernii. Sculpted by Yannick Hennebo from the artwork by Stef Kopinski, Equitus is more than capable of leading a mighty host!
Brunchaath the Vile, Gabrax Tain on Gooracx
Brunchaath the Vile was one of our first ever miniatures and it is only fitting that we give him a mount! Sculpted by Benoît Cosse from the artwork by Stef Kopinski, Brunchaath is riding a mighty Gooracx or goat-beast, strong and powerful and nasty on the charge!
Rikkard, Lord of Rijswijk
Rikkard is another Ancestor, a miniature designed by one of our Kickstarter backers, in this case the prolific commenter and brilliantly supportive Rick Boer from the Netherlands. Rick supplied us with images of himself along with a brief of who his ancestors actually were, and we decided his ancestor would be perfect to bring the first Friesian - the modern day Dutch - to Darklands!
Sculpted by a newcomer to our range -Michael Anderson - from the artwork by Stef Kopinski, Rikkard (like all the Ancestors) is a sell-sword and so can be used by just about every host in Darklands!
Thórrir, Troll Konungr
A mighty Troll King, is Thórrir, a huge and powerful warlord who commands the Trolls of the Norse to do his bidding and smash the enemy to pieces. Sculpted by the incredible Allan Carrasco from the artwork by Stef Kopinski!
Crom of Carn Wrach, War-Drune on Foot and on Horse
A War-Drune of the Ysians, Crom of Carn Wrach has been released on foot and on horse before now, but here you can purchase him in both forms - but cheaper than purchasing him individually. Sculpted by Stéphane Simon from the artwork by Danny Cruz!
All of the releases above were officially released on the 4th of July 2015, and so you can order them right now.
Watch out for the August releases, which should be unveiled in the next week or so!

So, I'm a little confused and I'm hoping someone could clear this up for me. I'm not a big Kickstarter person so I'm not super familiar with how shipments work. The last update on Mighty Monsters says that the War Demon was going to be in Wave 7. Now, when I go and check my order on the Mierce site, my shipment option says that it's set at "Wave 9". Is this just a minor snafu or should I contact Mierce because I selected the wrong shipping option?

I'm still not sure if I've paid for the right shipping waves...

Just watched the (one and only) Darklands battle report I could find. Looks great fun to be honest! It looks very fiddly with both tokens on the board and laminated unit sheets to mark the bazillion wounds each unit has, but I hope it'll be manageable in such a small-scale game. Would I be correct in assuming 1000 points would be an average battle?
Really love the concept of units getting weaker the more wounds they take, it really nails that feeling of slowly whittling down the large creatures until they've got gashes all over, breathing raggedly and trying to get one last swing in before they fall to the ground. Also like the charge mechanic. Since charges are better the longer the charge distance, it makes sense to move in close to deny your opponent the charge advantage. This cleanly solves the problem of two melee units "hanging back" because no one wants to be the one getting charged.
Overall I really want get into this now. Has anyone here played it or could point me to more in-depth reviews?

Mierceday is upon us!
Rhyfelwr and Shadows
The Mierce Friday is here once more! As stated previously, we are now updating you every other Friday (bi-weekly if you will) to ensure we can spend more time getting the Darklands rules done.
This week we have...

...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let's begin!
This week there's something new from Stéphane Simon and something completed from Yannick Hennebo...
Rhyfelwr
The awesomeness of Yannick Hennebo knows no bounds... check out Cefin to see what we mean!
The herald of the unit, Cefin, gets the treatment, and he's blimmin' awesome! Check out that moustache!
Now, he does have a right arm, but the only shot of it we have is for Efan, which is Cefin's alternate warrior from Darklands: New Kindreds. I'm sure you can see that Cefin will look awesome with that right hand, shield and bow too!
These guys will be a Wave 9 shipment; there's no way Yannick can get them done in time for Wave 8.
Shadows of Carn Bran
There's been a bit of a break but Stéphane Simon is back on track with the Shadows of Carn Bran, for Santoc is looking great so far...
Santoc is a warrior from the unit and he's either tracking an enemy warrior or trying to find his contact lenses... you decide!
The Shadows of Carn Bran will no doubt be a Wave 9 shipment now!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Monstrous Mounts update!
Krekkek
The Mierce Friday is here once more! As stated previously, we are now updating you every other Friday (bi-weekly if you will) to ensure we can spend more time getting the Darklands rules done.
This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress images from Roberto Chaudon;
•a list of what miniatures are sent in what waves, and that Wave 6 shipments have begun;
• a list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let's begin!
As always, Roberto Chaudon's speed is faster than a fast thing eating fast berries and so Krekkek is not only awesome, he's also almost complete...
Krekkek
The very lizardy Krekkek is a Bull Sávrakh of the Khthones and is a powerful monster in his own right, as well as a mount for Ágriosávra...
Krekkek is pretty much complete, but he will be a Wave 9 shipment now.
Next up for Roberto is Vaenhildr, and then - when Krekkek is moulded and cast - he can pop Ágriosávra on his back!
Automatically Appended Next Post: !!! Edgar Skomorowski, previously of Forgeworld, now sculpting for Mierce!
Flesh, Wood and Bones
The Mierce Friday is here once more! As stated previously, we are now updating you every other Friday (bi-weekly if you will) to ensure we can spend more time getting the Darklands rules done.
This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress updates from Didier Fancagne, Yannick Hennebo, Aragorn Marks and Edgar Skomorowski;
•an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Here we go...
We've got a lot to show you today, for the Brythoniaid (Yannick Hennebo), the Érainn (Didier Fancagne) and the Jutes (Aragorn Marks and a newcomer to Darklands, Edgar Skomorowski)!
Yannick Hennebo is performing wonders for these guys, and we can't wait until the full unit is done and in our grubby little hands...
Efan
Yannick Hennebo has completed work on Cefin / Efan; we've shown Cefin on Darklands: First Edition II, so here's his alternate warrior, Efan...
The Warriors of Dyngonwy should be a Wave 9 shipment, we hope...
Beasts of Síleann Fen
The lovely Didier Fancagne has been busy with other things but can now turn his attention to the Beasts of Síleann Fen for the Érainn!
The first Fen Beast to be tackled is Ollmhór, and whilst it's early days - the limbs are not quite in the right position - he's definitely getting there...

Here's a scale shot...
We hope that these guys will be a Wave 9 shipment, but we shall see.
The Dead of Black Barrow
Ahhhh... thank you, great sky wizard, for we have finally been able to secure the services of the amazing sculptor known as Edgar Skomorowski. Until recently Edgar worked for Games Workshop but he now works for Third Man Studios, an independent sculpting company that also includes the services of one Aragorn Marks...
Thankfully Third Man assigned Edgar to us to digitally sculpt The Dead of Black Barrow, and the first results look amazing...
Cynemund is one of the Wihtgār warriors and if the rest of the unit looks like him, we're in clover!
We're hopeful that The Dead of Black Barrow will be a Wave 9 shipment!
Gol Gul
We've had a few issues with Gol Gul, the massive Barrow Spider of the Jutes - he was too small, basically - but Aragorn Marks has re-worked him for us and he's looking much better.
Gol Gul should definitely be a Wave 9 shipment now.

Given the nature of the game in terms of scale, round bases etc, Darklands is the sort of game Age of Sigmar should have been IMO.
Eh.....
I think they're aiming for two very different audiences.
I like Darklands. Very, very much. But the ruleset is a bit crunchy and takes a bit to really get the most out of. It's a very GOOD ruleset, but I'm not sure it's the most beginner friendly.
AoS is a pick up and play, beer and pretzels, dice roller. It's audience is, IMO, completely different. Automatically Appended Next Post: Alpharius wrote:Good stuff, as always!

Those undead Jutes... Oh my lord! I am so glad I will be picking some of them up. They are amazing and a half! Really, really well done!
And yeah, that Treeman has grown on me as well. He'd be a fun piece to paint I reckon, and field as well. If I ever need something big for my Kings of War stuff which has a nature theme to it (don't play either Forces of Nature or Elves just yet), I'll be sure to give them a good look. I like their look a lot more than GW's last iteration of Treemen.

Mierce Miniatures 1 day ago
@Alpharius - the rules should be ready at the end of August to download (probably not many diagrams there though), and September will be where it's hopefully set into book form and then chucked to the printers - but we'll see. I really don't know how long that will take me, and some fluff needs to be written too, and some photography needs to be done.
Once the rules are ready for download you'll at least be able to play the game properly... it's within touching distance, let's put it that way. I've just put the finishing touches to the terrain rules, along with weather, time and positioning terrain and hosts, and then it's just a matter of tidying up the Darklands Host section and job's a good 'un.

Someone remind me please.
Were the musters going to be in the physical book, or will we always have to download them?
I know I have a fair amount printed but I'm sure they're all out of date.

Post by: Alpharius
I'm fairly sure they'll always be 'outside' and printed book, as they are the most living of Living Documents.
I do hope they do up proper unit cards so we can laminate them - just like in the demo videos!

My school is supposedly getting our own laminating machine on campus, and using it to make updated musters would be the perfect inauguration of it.

Not yet,
but I would suspect it's not going to happen until the metal KS orders close as if anybody adds any of them (which they can still do for all but Rollo who's sold out) Rob would have to go back in an manually adjust things again
far easier to wait till the numbers are fixed then do it all at once
(plus he's busy trying to get the rules locked down)

Not me, but as Orlando said, he's wrapping up the rules. I think its easy for us to forget just how small these operations are in terms of full time employees.

Thats cool I just wondered as I'm sure I read somewhere they would be added after the kickstarter finished, I just expected it sooner than later.
As Orlando says submission for the first lot of metal minis is at the end of this month so I hope they will be added then.

Post by: Alpharius
It got fried in the Great Server Crash of 2015.
Given all the backed up production due to multiple Kickstarters, Tim's surgery and working on the long over-due full rulebook, I'd say the answer to that question is:
Not any time soon!
If ever!
It wasn't exactly what I'd call 'active' back when it was up and running though...

That's a shame. I suppose once the kickstarter rewards start shipping, and people are actually painting minis and playing the game, there'll be more demand for something like that.
For my part I'm just so fething stoked about these minis, and this amazing game world, that I'm really starving for *any* kind of content on it. Can't wait for my rulebook to arrive so that I can dive headlong into the lore.

This is exactly how I feel. Sure I read Rob saying somewhere that a new forum without all the old posts might get done in a few weeks, but it was only tentative and with the current focus on getting the rules done I'd assume it's unlikely.

Morning all. Just a friendly warning that on Friday I will be starting the countdown to removing the first few hosts from this project, so by the end of August the Anglecynn Duguth, Brythoniaid Teulu, Byzantii Legionarius, Érainn Tuanagh, Fomoraic Gabrax, Norse Holumenn and Ysian Ax-Drune infantry starter hosts will be removed.
We've some cracking updates for Friday too...

The Erainn have really come to be quite an interesting kindred. Their human figures look great, and their monsters are somewhere between a muppets, and creepy horror movie plant beasts.
I'm anxious to see what the Atlanteans look like when they are finally finished. I expect they'll have a nice Harryhausen Talos 'mindless construct' vibe to them, but who knows?

That's what I was hoping for too - especially when I purchased them based solely on the concept art!
The ONLY things that have let me down so far in that regard are the Angelcynn 'infantry sized' wolf-men.
They just aren't doing it for me, for whatever reason.
Overall, Mierce has a REALLY good track record when it comes to concept art to miniature.

Mierceday! And to kick us off:
Britons and Once-Britons
Morning everyone. It's Friday, and that means updates...
As stated previously, we are now updating you every other Friday (bi-weekly if you will) to ensure we can spend more time getting the Darklands rules done.
This week we have...
•sculpt work in progress images from Yannick Hennebo and Stéphane Simon;
•a list of what miniatures are currently being sent in their various waves;
• an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let's begin!
This week there's something completed and new from Stéphane Simon and something new from Yannick Hennebo... for the Brythoniaid and Ysians respectively!
Here's some more Rhyfelwr from Yannick Hennebo. He's decided to get the bodies done first as we're casting the shields and weapons for him and sending them back so he doesn't duplicate work (and so is faster)!
Aeron is the Rhyfelwr Bannerman and is looking very cool indeed!
There's a long way to go on this guy yet, as there's a banner to do...
The first of the warriors, Iestyn is very dynamic!
These guys will be a Wave 9 shipment; there's no way Yannick can get them done in time for Wave 8.
Stéphane Simon is working hard on the Shadows and there's just one left to do after Massen is completed...
The warrior in progress from the last update, we've decided that Santoc is looking for some herbs to add to his homely cooking later, as well as tracking an enemy so he can knife him in the back.
Santoc is now complete and looking awesome!
A lovely man, Massen is particularly fond of flower-pressing... and knifing people in the back.
It's early days for Massen, and the Shadows of Carn Bran will be a Wave 9 shipment now!

New Kindreds!
Men, Women, Trees and Undead
It's a bi-Friday, so it's Mierceday!
As stated previously, we are now updating you every other Friday (bi-weekly if you will) to ensure we can spend more time getting the Darklands rules done.
This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress updates from Didier Fancagne, Juan Navarro Pérez and Edgar Skomorowski;
•an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Here we go...
We've got a lot to show you today, for the Anglecynn (Juan Navarro Pérez), Brythoniaid (Juan Navarro Pérez), the Érainn (Didier Fancagne) and the Jutes (Edgar Skomorowski)!
These guys have been done for a while, of course, but the alternate banner bearer and herald warriors need doing, and so Juan Navarro Pérez has been hard at work...
Beor is the alternate version of the banner bearer, Beornred, and he looks awesome!
Beor will be a Wave 9 shipment.
The herald of the unit's alternate warrior is Kenric...
This means these guys should be done for Wave 9!
Juan has also been working hard on the alternate versions of his sculpts, and here's Bowman Urien!
He should be a Wave 9 shipment.
Juan seems to be able to multi-task on different sculpts, as Warrior Ffion shows...
She's getting there too, and should be a Wave 9 shipment!
The awesome Didier Fancagne - who looks a stone-cold blindside flanker to my eyes - is working hard on the Beasts of Síleann Fen for the Érainn...
Work is cracking on with Ollmhór and it shouldn't be too long before he's done...
He should be a Wave 9 shipment!
Didier has been working on another Fen Beast, Ardann, too...
We hope that these guys will be a Wave 9 shipment, but we shall see.
The amazing Edgar Skomorowski has been continuing his work on the Wihtgār... two of them, in fact!
Oswine is one of the Wihtgār warriors and looks superbly downtrodden...
He should be a Wave 9 shipment!
The alternate warrior of the banner bearer, Bertræd looks a bit mean...
We're hopeful that The Dead of Black Barrow will be a Wave 9 shipment!

No problem. Looking at how how things are going, the Wave 9 send out in October is going to be quite a nice haul. A lot of sculpts are being completed now that are queuing up for send out.
Also, the full rules should be up in the next few weeks assuming everything goes to plan:
I'm on course for the full rules being downloadable by the next update - which will be the 4th of September.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Stealh Darklands Update!
Beasts of Stone and Ice
It's been a while in coming but we've got our first Friday update for BaneBeasts: Mighty Monsters Part Deux right here!
We do update our projects regularly, but have not had the opportunity to do so here simply because the sculptors we've booked have been very, very busy.
This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress updates from Olivier Bouchet and Gautier Giroud;
•an idea of what will ship, and when;
•a list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let's begin!
For this update we have a Darklands sculpt from Olivier Bouchet, which could of course be used as a Stone Beast in other settings, and a recap on Gautier Giroud's work...
Olivier has been working hard on everyone's favourite stone beast, Ettu, as you can see...
He's a big lad, too! That's an 80mm round base, by the way...
Ettu is completed and will be in our mitts next week, and so he should make it into Wave 8...
Let's have a few Skaadi images, too, because she was sculpted by Gautier Giroud before the project. Here's a few angles you may not have seen before...
Skaadi was already complete when we started this project, so she'll be a Wave 8 shipment too.

I can understand what they were going for with Skaaldi.. Some things smooth and soft but the rest harsh and edgy... But I dont either think it really hits home.. The face doesn't really look like it belongs there together with all the other harsheness.

I like the contrast actually. Bunch Erainn survive a brutal attack from a raiding party of slaver in beast men and then 'she' emerges from the mist with huge shadows looming behind her and obliterates the survivors in a hail of ice shards.

Descendant!
Florus, Seer-Sorcerer of Friesia
It's been a while since we've seen an Ancestor - a miniature created for a backer of one of our projects who is called a Descendant - but it's been worth the wait, because Sebastian Volkmann (known as Nergal) has joined John Longshore, Tomas Johansson, Max Schüte and Rick Boer to bring us a fantastic Friesian sorcerer called Florus!
Florus is a Friesian sorcerer, taught by the Gyptians (where his father traded - Frieisians are legendary merchants), who has returned to his homeland of northern Europe (Friesia) via Rome to escape the Sassanids, who are if nothing else a bloodthirsty lot. There he met his future wife, and his mystic abilities and insights into the flow of battle and the future itself have established him as a valued advisor, ensuring that he has gathered not a little wealth.
Artwork by Danny Cruz
Seb wanted Danny Cruz to draw Florus from the very beginning and he didn't disappoint... we think he's going to be a superb miniature!
Florus is armed with a scalding-hot sword (obviously sorcerous) and a seax-dagger, and wears a fur cloak over leather armour and greaves. He also has a shield, slung over his back.
We think he looks very cool, especially as Florus looks like he's just about to Invoke a pretty mean invocation. We pity the recipient...!
How can I purchase Florus?
Florus will be available to purchase from our webstore by Monday, in the Darklands: First Edition II category, at the special Kickstarter price of £10.00.
Due to be sculpted by Stéphane Simon
We're anticipating Wave 10 for Florus delivery, depending on how it fits around Stéphane's other commitments, not the least of which is Maximus, Max Schüte's first ancestor (which is due to be sculpted once the Shadow-Drunes are finished).
Who were the Friesians?
The Friesians resided in Friesland on the north-west coast of modern day Belgium, Netherlands and Germany, and their descendants still have their own identity and culture, much of which survives intact. The Friesian language is still the closest other language to English and, in fact, it is said that West Friesian can be understood by English speakers almost as if it were a dialect, and vice versa of course (although pretty much everyone in the Netherlands speaks English like a native).
Thus, as may be thought, the Friesians in 650AD are very similar to the Angles, Saxons and Jutes of that time, and many Friesians migrated to the British Isles during the Dark Ages along with those other invaders, just in scattered groups settling in various parts of the country. That being the case, and the Angles of Darklands being shape-changers, so are the Friesians. The Saxons and Jutes are shape-changers, also; although most Saxons (along with the Northumbraland Angles) have found the One God and denounce it, in 650AD.
So what do the Frisians change into? Well, Florus himself is not a shape-changer (although he may decide otherwise, later!), but many Friesians are, and they change into oxen - and of course cattle are very much a part of Friesian history. Thus, the Friesians become Weroxan, the singular being Weroxa. However, the Friesian shape-changers, unlike the other shape-changers of Mierce, Beornica and Eoforas, often do not choose when to change - they simply change when threatened.
The Friesians will eventually become a kindred in their own right at some point over the course of the next few years, but for now, we have Florus (thanks to Seb) and of course Rikkard (thanks to Rick Boer)!

Anybody fancy an official Darklands Tournament Nov 7th & 8th in Sheffield, UK. Tim Fisher 27 minutes ago Howdy. I'm organising the first ever Darklands tournament this Nov 7th & 8th in Sheffield, UK. As the full rules will be up as a free PDF in Sept (along with the updated musters we've been playtesting to death recently) there will be plenty of time to get some practice games in beforehand. It will be 5 games at 1750 gold - no comp. As it's early days there is no need for your force to be painted (though from 2016 onwards we'll require forces to be painted). It's part of tournament I run every year called The Maul - full details inc tickets etc here http://warhammer.org.uk/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=130479 we're already at 18 players which is fantastic!

eg érainn fen beast monstrous infantry starter host [expanded]
it's items that contain multiple 'things' (so will not actually be sent out in one go),
instead they are (manually?) 'expanded' by Rob at some point after you ordered and all the individual units/minis that make it up are added to you order so they can then be sent out as done

I've just got my Érainn order through amongst other bits. Seriously seriously impressive models:
2 of the Tuanagh:
Nuala:
Cormac and my new favourite model, Caitrin:
If you've ordered these, you made a good choice. If you haven't ordered them because you're not sure, kick yourself!

That detail looks like something that would cast just fine in metal. I expect that the metal will come out looking quite nice.
Now, as for Monday September 4th- I'm thinking typo as well. Otherwise, you're waiting until 2017...

Orcs on Wyvern
Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond both our and Gary's control, Gary cannot now sculpt the Orc riders (and foot versions), and so we will be passing them on to Tim Prow (who should make an equally fine job). He should be starting them very soon. Gary will be completing the alternate Dark Elf Lord, hopefully.
Anyone know what happened to Gary? I hope he's ok. I think Tim will make short work of the orks, then I assume he'll start on BB2.
Here's Gary's completed Dark Elf Lord in case anyone missed the update.

Just a quick heads up - the only way I could find Florus was to log in and then search specifically for "Florus".
That direct link wasn't working for me!

I added the Byzanti Legionarius and Formariac Gabrax as my starters. Plus 10 Axe Drunes, Hedroc, Annik, Birna, Vithar and Caitrin.
Planing on trying to snag the 6 I dont have (Gairlom, Gesith, Oplites, Rhyfelwr, Demilegionarius and Warriors of Baalor) before they close those out in... November? Ooof... maybe I'll get a bonus lol.

Part of me is somewhat tempted to see if I can swap out stuff that I already put money down to order, and see if I can swap it out with something else instead.
If I can change a few items and with the cash I've still got sitting in the web store I can probably pick up 2 or 3 starters rather than the monstrous mounts I've got still waiting for me.

For the models...mostly.
I try to stay vaguely aware of how practical the purchases are from a gaming perspective, but I haven't not ordered something I really liked purely because I already have x number of big beasties for that army.

I just buy the models I like and then fit them to a points value to be able to play them.
I'm currently aiming for 500 points each of the below as a minimum.
Erainn (covered by the metal starter)
Fomoraic (not sure how many more points I will need after Skaadi)
Brythoniaid (have 500 points)
Khthones (need two more models, one not sculpted yet)
Ysians (I have over 500 points for these)
I've only painted two models so far though, that's going to be my project this winter before I start playing

Mierceday!
Warriors of Dyngonwy
Friday! Yay!
As stated previously, we are now updating you every other Friday (bi-weekly if you will) to ensure we can spend more time getting the Darklands rules done.
This week we have...
•sculpt work in progress images from Yannick Hennebo;
•a list of what miniatures are currently being sent in their various waves;
• an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let's begin!
There's only work to show by Yannick Hennebo this week, but what work it is. Yannick continues to amaze us with his amazing sculpting...
The Warriors of Dyngonwy have turned out even better than we'd hoped, thanks to Yannick's attentions... they are quite amazing!
The Rhyfelwr champion is Alun, a fine moustachioed fella...
Alun is complete and looks superb!
Aeron is the Rhyfelwr Bannerman and we like his banner...
The alternate of Aeron is yet to be completed, however.
We might as well complete the unit by showing you Cefin again...
Cefin's right hand will have a sword and his bow and quiver will be attached to his back like the rest, of course.
The Rhyfelwr warriors begin with Gafan...
Gafan is complete and looks great!
The other warrior, Iestyn, is very dynamic!
These guys should certainly be a Wave 9 shipment! Automatically Appended Next Post: I'm sure people have been waiting for this one...
Brontull
It's Friday!
As stated previously, we are now updating you every other Friday (bi-weekly if you will) to ensure we can spend more time getting the Darklands rules done.
This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress images from Dan Cockersell;
•a list of what miniatures are sent in what waves, and that Wave 6 shipments have begun;
• a list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let's begin!
This week we have a superb update from Dan Cockersell. It's been a while since we've seen anything from him, but as always, the wait has definitely been worth it!
Brontull is of course the standalone monstrous beast version of Erebius' Behema and can smash through enemy battle-lines with ease!
Brontull isn't complete yet, and we're hoping he'll be a Wave 9 shipment; but we'll see

The Dead and the Living
It's a bi-Friday, so it's Mierceday!
As stated previously, we are now updating you every other Friday (bi-weekly if you will) to ensure we can spend more time getting the Darklands rules done.
This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress updates fromJuan Navarro Pérez and Edgar Skomorowski;
•an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Here we go...
We've some Brythoniaid (Juan Navarro Pérez) and Jutes (Edgar Skomorowski) to show you all today!
The awesome alternate of Urien, Bowman Urien, is now complete and he's looking superb!
He should be a Wave 9 shipment.
The lovely alternate of Ffion Ferddig, Warrior Ffion, is now complete and looks absolutely brilliant!
She'll be a Wave 9 shipment too!
The awesome Edgar Skomorowski has been working upon the Wiht Thain, Wihtwald, and he is looking fantastic!
Depending on the printing, we think Wihtwald will be ready for Wave 9!
We have a number of views of Helmed Wihtwald from Edgar, too...
Again, depending on the printing, we think Helmed Wihtwald will be ready for Wave 9!
Edgar Skomorowski has continued his work on the Wihtgār and they are all complete, and totally and utterly amazing. We love these (dead) lads!
To prove just how amazing they are, here's how they look together...
The champion of the Wihtgār is Sigheard...
He does look nice. Very nice indeed!
The banner bearer of the Wihtgār is Ricbert.
Weighed down a little by the banner, we suspect!
The herald of the Wihtgār unit is Ælgar, pronounced " AL-gaar"...
He might not have any vocal chords, but he can still produce some kind of unearthly noise from his trumpet. Er.
For completeness' sake, here's Cynemund from previous updates...
Nice!
Oswine is one of the Wihtgār warriors and looks superbly downtrodden...
He should be a Wave 9 shipment!
The alternate warrior of the banner bearer, Bertræd looks a bit mean...
The alternate of the herald, Ælfric is a cracking warrior...
Depending on printing schedules, the Dead of Black Barrow should be a Wave 9 shipment... and we can't wait to get our hands on them! Automatically Appended Next Post: And an update that's more metal than chainmail vests, mullets and denim jackets
Metal Progress, and Hosts removed on Monday...
It's a cracker of an update today for Darklands: Metal Age, for we now have images of the very first metal Infantry Starter Host to hit Mierce Towers, the Ax-Drunes!
Hedroc of Carn Maen, Battle-Drune
Annik of Carn Wrach, Battle-Drune
Kernuor, Seer-Drune
Arthyen of Carn Maen, An-Ax-Drune
Branok of Carn Maen, Bann-Ax-Drune
Canan of Carn Maen, Kern-Ax-Drune
Talan of Carn Maen, Ax-Drune
Mawgan of Carn Maen, Ax-Drune
Drano of Carn Maen, Ax-Drune
Dinorg of Carn Maen, Ax-Drune
As you can see, they look absolutely stunning - and there's no noticeable size difference between the resin versions and the metal versions. Don't just take our word for it, have a look at Kernuor...
We can't wait to get all these hosts done!
Note, we don't yet have the Brutes for this host but should soon.

I have three questions for you guys before I decide on an eventual order...
1. Is there anywhere I can get a good look at all the miniatures for Darklands without having to click-click-click through the Mierce website? Say in long blog post form or similar?
2. Is there a place to find some good advice on army lists? I have no idea what to buy aside from the starter hosts.
3. What exactly am I able to buy with my Metal Age Kickstarter access? When I go to their store I see all their previous Kickstarters listed as well. Does this mean I can order stuff from them as well? Do I get a discount on those? What about normal store items?
Thanks a ton you guys!

With the cashback from your metal age pledge you can basically buy anything from the mierce website
There was a 20% discount off the normal items on the website but I think that was only for a month so the prices will be as listed now
If you can see the previous KS catagories you can shop from them... Rob is normally happy to open these up to new KS backers if they ask (so if you asked in the comments he may have done this for you already)
if you're after starter hosts from Metal Age (and that's where the big discounts are) make sure you get your order in before Monday, the 7th of September at midnight (GMT) as that's when they get removed.
As to what to get for army lists the first thing I'd do is get the 750 gold upgrade to whatever starter(s) you've got a full sized unit of 5 monstrous infantry
I'd then think about 1 or 2 big monstrous beasts (or units of beasts like the Toracx in the Formoraic starter),
the ones on this KS are going to be the best value, but you might prefer ones from the pre-existing minis line up as they'll be ready to ship when the metals are, and the as yet to be sculpted stuff probably won't so you'll either have to wait for them or pay for an extra shipping wave
after that it's probably more infantry or monstrous infantry or both

I've not pledged before, but I did make a $1 pledge and thus had to ask them to unlock the pledge manager manually, so I suppose they opened up everything then!
Thanks for the advice, 750 gold upgrade sounds like a good idea to start with. I'm guessing It wouldn't be a big loss to stop there, and buy more some other time? Seeing as the metal starters are where the big savings are, not the big resin beasts.

It's very hard to tell, there has been a fair degree of hold up because of Tim's operation, as he needs to master original sculpts before they go back for turning into alternates, and I suspect he's also been mastering some of the weapons/shields etc for some of the professional units so they look the best they can, eg scroc, the armored abhoorents, ax crom, the men of the mustaches now he's back to (almost) normal all this can happen and stalled sculptors can go back to work we're also leaving the summer holiday (I've seen at least a couple of Mierce sculptors talking about holidays on facebook etc) and convention season so some who were not sculpting will be getting back to work after that it's down to what time slots mierce have got booked, whether anthing is in front of them them and how fast the sculptors work my guess is we'll se a bit of slippage, but no nearly as much as you'd expect

Ok the rules have added some really nice new things. You can destroy terrain such as burn down woods or corrupt them, freeze rivers, collapse buildings, get struck by lightning and add in snow banks making shooting hard, fog and wind to ground flyers, nightfighting where Ysians have a big advantage (I think). Loads of new actions such as "Grab and..." as well as devourers (ugh) and I really want to get playing! Edit, for example, check this weather rule for Torrential Rain: Windy; Douses Fire; Settles (if it continues to rain, conditions and ground get worse!); sighted 3D10” (limited sight range); rough ground (hard to move over); no volley shoot (bows can't shoot); flyers are grounded

Depending on your faction, I'd consider doubling up on the starter before buying the 750 gold upgrade. The trolls for example, stand out as a surprisingly expensive upgrade compared to a second starter (which will come with a discount) which includes 2 more trolls and 10 more infantry, ignoring doubled characters.

That's a good point, particularly given that the Norse currently only have 1 human infantry unit, so you are more likely to double up on them. The Ysians have axe drunes, bow drunes, and hounds and melisunes (though the latter not currently in metal).

Rules, get yer rules here, fresh and hot from the press Update #122 Sep 6 2015 Darklands: First Edition Rules Darklands is a tabletop skirmish wargame in which you command the hosts of man and beast that your ancestors once did for glory, power or simple survival! To play Darklands with our fantastic range of miniatures, you need the rules - and whilst the full Darklands: First Edition rulebook will not be printed until later on in 2015, you can play the game right now with the rules presented here as a download or from our Rules and Musters Downloads page - which is constantly being updated. As well as the Darklands: First Edition rules, you'll also need the Savage Hordes download which combines the Muster Rules (which show you how to build a host) and the various Kindred Musters (which give you all the warrior profiles for every single miniature we have produced or will produce). Last updated - 4th September 2015 The Darklands: First Edition rules are (just about) here! We have been working very hard to put the Darklands: First Edition of the rules together for you as a PDF download, and whilst this has taken a bit longer than we'd hoped they're now (almost) ready for public consumption. Note that these downloadable rules do not yet have any lovely illustrations or many example graphics, which will be of great use to a newcomer to Darklands; they will appear in the full rules. Now, we've not quite had enough time to get everything sorted for today - there's a few actions (Dive, Swoop, Drop, Bind and Unbind) and reactions (Engagement and Counter-Engage) to revise yet - but we hope to have everything rules-wise by Monday. Darklands: First Edition download You can download the rules that are available now in one document: •Darklands: First Edition - Full Rules We've been a little lazy and simply merged the individual .pdf files you'll find elsewhere on this update, so the page numbers don't work - but at least you don't have to mess around... Note, too, that these downloadable sections of the rules do not yet have any lovely illustrations or example graphics, which will be of great use to a newcomer to Darklands. We aim to have at least one set of example graphics for each action or reaction! Hunt down grammatical errors! In the meantime, feel free to hunt down typos, incorrectly numbered headers, passages that don't make sense or any other grammatical errors and e-mail us at kickstarter@mierce-miniatures.com. The more people that scour the rulebook for these errors, the more we'll find! Printing the rules Once all of the rules are sorted, we will begin converting it all into print format with some nice graphics and images, and it will look similar in style to the Darklands: QuickStarter rules. We do hope to have completed this task by the end of September and have it at the printers sometime in October, with a print date of "before Christmas", we hope! Okay... now that you have the full rules, let's go through them and explain a little bit about each section... This will be a general overview of Darklands and the wargame itself. It's not written yet, and probably won't be until we near the print stage. We also need some nice photographs! • Darklands: First Edition - 1: Darklands, the Game - coming soon These aren't strictly necessary up front, but they will be done at some point soon. Last updated: 4th September 2015 The "The Darklands Host" section will contain everything you need to know about hosts, commands, warriors, profiles and equipment! • Darklands: First Edition - 2: The Darklands Host - NEW! The various subsections of The Darklands Host are explained below. • 2.1: Hosts - describes what a Darklands host is, and what it is made of. • 2.2: Commands - explains what a command is, and the various types of command. • 2.3: Units - the units subsection is important because it describes the composition of units - unit leaders, unit command warriors and unit warriors - as well as unit structure, unit states (vigour, heart, form, mobility and strength) and how bound units work. • 2.4: Warriors - even more important than units are the individual warriors within them. Warriors are described by their privilege (their importance), class (their type, such as an infantry warrior) and acuity (how well they can fight), as well as their traits and abilities (the special things they can do on the battlefield). • 2.5: Mounted Warriors - mounts and riders form mounted warriors and these are described here. • 2.6: War Engines - even though it is the dark ages, some esoteric kindreds can field war engines. How they work is explained in this subsection. • 2.7: Warrior Profiles - a warrior's profile governs almost everything about what that warrior can do upon the field of battle and explains such things as a warrior's details, his attributes and his equipment - weapons, armour, artefacts and invocations. We don't expect to change anything except grammatical errors from this section, so this is pretty much how it will be in the rulebook. Last updated: 4th September 2015 The "The Battlefield" section covers everything that shapes a Darklands battlefield and what can be done on it, so such things as the battlefield itself, battle scenarios, terrain, weather, time and positioning - as well as movement and sight - are covered. • Darklands: First Edition - 3: The Battlefield - updated We do hope you like the example diagrams, too - they're a taster for what's ahead in the printed rules. The various subsections of The Battlefield are explained below. • 3.1: The Field - this subsection explains what a battlefield is, its various components and how big they are for a game of Darklands. • 3.2: Battle Scenarios - only one battle scenario is given, a generic one for every kindred to use. • 3.3: Terrain - the terrain features on the battlefield are described and explained here, as well as rules to generate terrain for your Darklands battlefield and where it goes. • 3.4: Weather - sometimes the weather can have a great effect on the battlefield, and weather rules are described here. • 3.5: Time - the time a battle begins can be important for many kindreds! • 3.6: Positioning - this subsection governs how a host is positioned upon the battlefield, and gives generals rules on the various positioning fields they can use. • 3.7: Sight - the sight of a warrior is extremely important. If he can't see, he can't fight - and so lines of sight and other rules to do with seeing the enemy are described here. • 3.8: Movement - arrows and magic can perform wonders, but in the end it is hand to hand fighting that counts. To fight, however, warriors have to move around the battlefield, and this subsection describes how to do just that! We don't expect to change anything except grammatical errors from this section, so this is pretty much how it will be in the rulebook. Last updated: 4th September 2015 This section is the meat of Darklands; if you can understand "The Battle" and play this correctly, everything else falls into place! • Darklands: First Edition - 4: The Battle - updated The various subsections of The Battle are explained below. • 4.1: Joining Battle - this subsection governs the period after hosts are positioned and before the battle begins. Orders are issued to units and commands and Incite actions are performed by generals to inspire their troops or daunt the enemy, among other things! • 4.2: The Battle Hour - the bloody tornado of the slaughter ahead, this subsection decides which general gains the initiative, ensures players know when and how to activate their units as well as how to retain or force the initiative, and covers the end of the battle hour where continuous effects are applied and both time and the weather could change but, more importantly, decides who has won the field... • 4.3: Ending the Battle - when both hosts have had a good go at each other, it's time to see whose butcher's bill is greater! We don't expect to change anything except grammatical errors from this section, so this is pretty much how it will be in the rulebook. The "Orders" section will explicitly tell you how orders work and what they do, as well as which actions can be performed under which orders! • Darklands: First Edition - 5: Orders - NEW! We don't expect to change anything except grammatical errors from this section, so this is pretty much how it will be in the rulebook. The "Actions"section tells you how actions work and interact with each other, and how they can be performed by an activated unit. • Darklands: First Edition - 6: Actions - NEW! The various actions a unit can perform are listed below, split into their action groups. MOVEMENT ACTIONS Here's the Movement actions to get your warriors Moving around the battlefield! • Darklands: First Edition - 6.02: Walk action - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.03: Run action - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.04: March action - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.05: Fly action - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.06: Soar action - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.07: Land action - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.08: Burrow action - NEW! - this action allows units with the "Burrower" ability to Burrow underground and flank the enemy by tunnelling underneath them... • Darklands: First Edition - 6.09: Reform action - updated ENGAGEMENT ACTIONS Getting into combat to actually Attack the enemy is pretty important. If you can't get there, you can't hit 'em! As there are now a few ways to get into combat - and not just by Charging - it was necessary to formulate a set of rules that covered how a unit actually Moves into the enemy. Rather than include the same engagement rules in a Charge action or a Trample action, the Engagement action does so for them. Whilst units still Charge into an enemy, or Walk and Run into them, the Engagement action controls what units can be engaged, how the Engaging unit moves and when Engagement reactions are brought to bear, among lots of other things! So, when you want to Charge an enemy, ensure you understand both the Engagement action and the Charge action (which is now much simpler). Similarly, if you want to Trample an enemy, you'll need the Engagement action and the Trample action. It may sound a little complicated, but once you understand the Engagement action the rest will be easy. • Darklands: First Edition - 6.10: Engagement action - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.11: Engage and... action - NEW! - this action allows units to Engage and perform another action whilst Engaging, such as a Shoot action, an Invoke action or even an Inspire action! • Darklands: First Edition - 6.12: Charge action - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.13: Trample action - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.14: Slam action - coming soon - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.15: Ambush action - updated - this action allows Flanking units and Scout units to Ambush an enemy unit when they Emerge - even though they can't see them, they can Charge them! • Darklands: First Edition - 6.17: Dive action - coming soon • Darklands: First Edition - 6.18: Swoop action - coming soon • Darklands: First Edition - 6.19: Retreat action - updated - used by highly-trained warriors to disengage from combat The Dive and Swoop actions should be with you on Monday. ATTACK ACTIONS Probably the most important action of all is the Attack action, along with its more energetic sibling, the Attack Move action. We've tidied them both up and made sure they are updated for the loss of stamina, and we've also added a larger Parry Chart, as the addition of some massive monsters kind of made the old one a little rubbish! • Darklands: First Edition - 6.20: Attack action - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.21: Attack Move action - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.22: Challenge action - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.23: Stomp action - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.24: Grab action - updated - you can now Grab objects from terrain and even dead warriors lying around and Throw them at the enemy! SHOOT ACTIONS The lovely Shoot actions allow you to... well, Shoot the enemy, although Shooting does cover a number of different distance attacks and not just bow shots! • Darklands: First Edition - 6.30: Shoot action - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.31: Attack Shoot action - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.32: Volley Shoot action - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.33: Shoot and Drag action - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.34: Spray action - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.35: Throw action - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.36: Gaze action - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.37: Drop action - coming soon We should have the final Shoot action, Drop, next week. INVOKE ACTIONS Invoke actions enable sorcerers to blast the enemy with sorcery or maybe tickle them a bit with some sorcerous effects, both via invocations. • Darklands: First Edition - 6.40: Invoke action - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.41: Attack Invoke action - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.45: Recover action - updated COMMAND ACTIONS The various command actions and effortless actions serve to motivate your units and sometimes de-motivate your enemies, and also get your units out of a tricky situation • Darklands: First Edition - 6.50: New Order action - NEW! - enables generals to change the order of a unit or command • Darklands: First Edition - 6.51: Inspire action - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.52: Roar action - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.53: Daunt action - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.54: Augur action - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.55: Rally action - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 6.56: Flank action - NEW! - this action ensures units under a FLANK order can enter the battlefield behind the enemy • Darklands: First Edition - 6.57: Emerge action - NEW! - this action enables Scout units and Burrowers to Emerge onto the battlefield from terrain or from underground respectively • Darklands: First Edition - 6.58: Goad action - NEW! - this action enables Goaders to incite their charges into Attacking the enemy • Darklands: First Edition - 6.59: Brace action - NEW! - this action enables units to defend their ground more easily • Darklands: First Edition - 6.60: Join action - updated - nobles can Join a unit with this action • Darklands: First Edition - 6.61: Leave action - updated - nobles (and sometimes other warriors) can Leave a unit with this action • Darklands: First Edition - 6.62: Bind action - coming soon • Darklands: First Edition - 6.63: Unbind action - coming soon • Darklands: First Edition - 6.64: Shieldwall action - NEW! - this action enables units with shields and the "Shieldwall" ability to form a shieldwall, giving them great protection • Darklands: First Edition - 6.66: Disentangle action - updated - entangled units can free themselves with this action • Darklands: First Edition - 6.68: Wake action - NEW! - unconscious units can Wake using this action • Darklands: First Edition - 6.69: Rise action - NEW! - prone units use this action to get up from the ground We should have the Bind action and Unbind action to complete the command actions next week. Reactions mostly occur as a result of other actions and are sometimes not in the control of a player, especially the reactions of poorly-trained units! • Darklands: First Edition - 7: Reactions - coming soon This section should be up next week. The various reactions a unit can perform are listed below, split into the reaction groups. MOVEMENT REACTIONS There's a couple of Movement reactions to speak of... • Darklands: First Edition - 7.01: Displacement reaction - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 7.02: Dodge reaction - updated - used by nobles to dodge being crushed by an enemy! ENGAGEMENT REACTIONS It follows that - when a player declares an Engagement against you - you need to know what your unit will be doing in response. Most of the time you'll just Hold, of course, but there are many other Engagement reactions... including the new Hold and Shoot, Hold and Invoke and Withdraw, as well as the devastating Counter-Engagement reaction (although thankfully, that's mostly only for Feral and Fanatical units...!) • Darklands: First Edition - 7.10: Engagement reactions - coming soon • Darklands: First Edition - 7.11: Counter-Charge reaction - coming soon • Darklands: First Edition - 7.12: Restrain reaction - updated - to enable failed Engagers to restrain themselves from moving forwards • Darklands: First Edition - 7.13: Divert reaction - updated - to enable failed Engagers to redirect their Engagement into a fresh enemy • Darklands: First Edition - 7.14: Withdraw reaction - updated - to enable units to retreat from an Engagement ATTACK REACTIONS The Attack reactions sort out exactly what happens to the victorious and defeated units at the end of a combat, as well as other reactions to being Attacked. • Darklands: First Edition - 7.20: Panic reaction - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 7.21: Flee reaction - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 7.22: Frenzy reaction - coming soon • Darklands: First Edition - 7.23: Rampage reaction - coming soon • Darklands: First Edition - 7.24: Reflex Attack reaction - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 7.25: Stand reaction - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 7.26: Chase reaction - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 7.27: Breakthrough reaction - updated The Frenzy and Rampage reactions need a little bit of attention to bring them into line with frenzied changes and that should happen next week. INVOKE REACTIONS Here's the Invoke reactions to try and get rid of enemy sorcery! • Darklands: First Edition - 7.40: Earth reaction - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 7.41: Absorb reaction - updated • Darklands: First Edition - 7.42: Channel reaction - updated That's it for the First Edition rules... there'll be an update early next week! Now, as mentioned above, we have something new for you all - and that is the Darklands: Savage Hordes download, which combines the Muster Rules and various Kindred Musters into one document. We can neither confirm nor deny that Savage Hordes will be produced in book form in 2016... Darklands: Savage Hordes download You can download Savage Hordes in one document: • Darklands: Savage Hordes - NEW! We've been a little lazy and simply merged the individual .pdf files for the muster rules and kindred musters you'll find elsewhere individually on this update, but the eventual "proper" document will look rather better! The Darklands Muster Rules govern how you build a host for Darklands from the various Kindred Musters and will always be "living" rules - i.e., they will be updated when necessary and always available for download. The updated PDF version of the Darklands Muster Rules can be downloaded by clicking on the link below. • Darklands: First Edition - Muster Rules v2.6 - updated We've been hard at work updating the muster rules to reflect all of the latest changes, and we hope they'll make sense to you all! A Kindred Muster, what we call an army list, gives you the blocks to build a host of a particular kindred or realm for Darklands. It includes all of the different unit types available to you as a general wishing to create an army, in the shape of warrior profiles. The kindred musters given below include all of the warriors unlocked by our projects so you can check exactly what you're getting for your gold in game terms. Again, the Kindred Musters will always be "living" rules - i.e., they will be updated when necessary and always available for download. Bear in mind, however, that any new profiles are only partially playtested - expect changes and feel free to give us feedback. Check them out for some awesome new warriors, however! You can see what we have updated on the downloads page of course, but here's your kindred by kindred list anyway: • Albainn Muster - v1.13 - updated 4th of September • Angelcynn Muster - v1.18 - updated 4th of September • Atalantes Muster - v1.05 - updated 4th of September • Brythoniaid Muster - v1.13 - updated 4th of September • Byzantii Muster - v1.09 - updated 4th of September • Érainn Muster - v1.06 - updated 4th of September • Fomoraic Muster - v1.16 - updated 4th of September • Infernii Muster - v1.07 - updated 4th of September • Jutes Muster - v1.05 - updated 4th of September • Khthones Muster - v1.11 - updated 4th of September • Norse Muster - v1.13 - updated 4th of September • Vras Muster - v1.10 - updated 4th of September • Ysians Muster - v1.15 - updated 4th of September •Sell-Swords Muster - v1.06 - coming soon Keep watching this space for further updates over the coming weeks. looks like Dakka is no longer transferring the links properly, so go to the KS update to download the downloady thing https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mierceminiatures/darklands-first-edition/posts/1275980

Quick reminder's just gone out - Wave 8 removed on Monday (metal age stuff has just been removed)
Also, this little gem was included in the notice:

Their heads are a tad large, in my honest opinion. But the sculpts are nice!

I think the heads look much better. The tails are too long and prehensile for wolf tails, but can be fixed easily. Snip them and a little green stuff and you're golden.

Dammit!
Yes, the heads *do* look a bit too large...
Anyway, I'm really glad I went for these guys:

Methinks the heads look large because of the fur and elongated snout. Without the fur and snout, you can imagine the head to be the proper size... I kinda like 'em actually.
And hell yeah that Krokodar unit, I'm tempted to buy one even though I have zero reason to own it (well, other than, it's Mierce, and you should own everything Mierce makes)

Finally can complete the Krokodar unit! Hurray!
Khthon seem to be my most complete army with the arrival of those guys.
Can't wait for Srok and the big giant croc we get from the New Kindred campaign.
So long Privateer Blindwater sculpts!

Really? They're actually the race with the most obvious holes. With no infantry, and several sub-races with 1-2 characters they're probably the least complete of the original factions.

The heads are a little too big on most of them. The guy in the front and the howler look okay, but the others have melon heads. They do look better with their tails, but those have issues as well. Namely, canines don't have tails like that. Canine tails are fairly rigid, either they are held straight, or tbey curl. They don't undulate like a snake's, which is what most of them are doing.

Ys is the most developed narrowly ahead of Fomor IMO. Special character and the scout drones give it the edge.

Speaking of Blindwater uses Ramos just finished my sacral vault on top of Kaairioc-cro!
I think this model really lends itself to having something on top of it - something to keep in mind for a possible "Monstrous Mounts" use by Mierce in the future!
Also, you can see the 3 current Savrar sculpts on the front left and right of the group shot below:
I think the Savrar unit they've shown art for a few times would be a real winner! And I definitely would have used Srok (or Frenzied Srok) if it had released in time for this project
What other big giant croc are you referring to from New Kindreds, highlord?
I would say that the gators Alpharius posted above, while absolutely awesome, are way too big to use as Posse! It's a bit hard to figure out the sizes sometimes - hopefully the above pic helps with the Savrar. They're actually a hair small for Posse, but work fine I think.

I did mean to say the Khthon are one of my most fleshed out hosts. Leaders, heroes, a few monstrous infantry types... I've got options. Maybe not piles of fodder like some factions, but lots of big stuff to stomp out the little guys with at least.
That is an awesome vault there though!
Here's the other giant croc that's coming:
Couldn't find a smaller piece with just him though. Hopefully Roberto is on call to do that one as well.

That's a Whati from Kaha Miniatures. Their website isn't working for me atm but they were extremely responsive via Facebook when I reached out to them there! So that link is actually to their Facebook page, and I think that's actually how I placed my order, too (had them send me a Paypal invoice).
It fits in really nicely with Mierce models, imo . One of the few companies whose animal-type sculpts measure up to Mierce's from what I've seen so far.

Wow! Kaha has some great figures! I'll have to put them on a list of future purchases.
I'm not sure why everyone is so quick to put up pictures of the new Darklands stuff, and not the banebeasts items as well? It is a just a 'Mierce' thread, and not dedicated to darklands specifically.
But here's what they have coming in wave 8!
Plague demon.
And the Dark elf dragon rider. I'm looking forward to this, as I have a nice collection of old GW dragons & beasties. I will also have an armored version of Parawn as well!

Post by: highlord tamburlaine
My poor Parawn had a rough time with both casting and shipping. He lost a lot of his little spikey bits in the process sadly.
Man, I wish the 'draigs had human sized infantry for Brythoniaid so I didn't have to be bothered having giant awesome dragon- men hanging out with wussy mustachioed religious newborns.
Wonder if I could figure out a way to run nothing but Brythoniaid scalies...

As yet they've not got anybody pencilled in to do them as yet since (the original sculptor got a fair amount of criticism for 'soft' work on the minis he did for the First Edition KS, so Mierce is unlikely to go back to him)
(they are only alterations of the existing musician & banner bearers anyway rather than resculpts)

New retail release now up and available:
BaneLegions and Darklands
As we're late with the releases again we've decided to skip a month and unveil the August and September releases together. That means we've a few to bring you, from three different Kickstarter projects - Darklands: First Edition, Darklands: First Edition II and BaneBeasts: Mighty Monsters! These eighteen releases represent the tenth, fourth and first set of releases from those projects respectively.
The BaneBeasts gain Kholukk, a mighty Ogre Drake, and the BaneLords get the rather foul N'nhohbs'aak'chs the Tainted, a Priest of the Flies. Now, for Darklands, the Albainn gain a superb new monstrous infantry unit - the Oghu Keepers, comprising five Oghurithne; the Anglecynn have Eadric on foot and on horse to contend with; the Brythoniaid get themselves a lovely lass, Carys; the Byzantii can now be led by Equitus Durio on horse; the Fomoraic have Mananaan on foot and on horse for their pleasure; and lastly the Norse can enjoy their first infantry unit... the Holumenn!
Oghu Keepers, Oghurithne Unit
Sculpted superbly by Yannick Fusier from the excellent artwork by Sam Lamont, the Oghu Keepers are a unit of five Oghurithne for the Albainn. The five are led by the unit's champion, Brugbad, and contain a banner bearer - Dungabad - and a herald - Lobeg - as well as two warriors, Bogad and Rubeg.
Eadric, Forthegn of Mierce on Foot and on Horse
Eadric was sculpted by Stéphane Camosseto from the artwork by Des Hanley, and is a superb example of the Angelcynn Forthegn. He's supplied here for you in a foot and mounted set, which saves you some money from purchase the two individually!
Carys, Uchelwr of Gwynedd
The Brythoniaid gain a lovely lass in the shape of Carys, who is rather useful with both bow and sword. Sculpted by Juan Navarro Pérez from the artwork by Dan Warren!
Equitus Durio, Centurion on Horse
Stef Kopinski (artist) and Yannick Hennebo (sculptor)'s work on Equitus Durio is nothing short of superb, as you can see from his horsed version! He bears a kontus as well as a spatha, so he's armed to the teeth and ready for a scrap.
Mananaan, Untain of Baalor on Foot and on Horse
Another foot and mounted general release, Mananaan was sculpted by Pédro Fernandez (foot) and Yannick Hennebo (horse) from the original artwork by Stefan Kopinski (foot and horse). Putting them both together as a single purchase ensures you save a little money from purchasing them individually!
Hrafnen Crew, Holumann Unit
The Norse gain their first infantry unit in the lovely (but hairy) shape of the Hrafnen Crew, comprised of five warriors sculpted by Stéphane Simon from the artwork by Danny Cruz. The five are led by the unit's champion, Vidkun the Brave, and contain a banner bearer - Snorri Snorrisson - and a herald - Gunnar Half-Shield - as well as two warriors, Jan and Undrik.
Kholukk, Ogre Drake of the Grimwald
The mighty Ogre Drake known as Kholukk - converted by Tim Prow from Aradae Mawr, using the artwork supplied by the awesome Wayne England - is the first BaneBeast for a good long while, and is the first miniature to be released from the BaneBeasts: Mighty Monsters kickstarter project. He's an absolutely superb conversion and is a cracking addition to the BaneLegions range!
N'nhohbs'aak'chs the Tainted, Priest of the Flies
Designed and sculpted by the blast from the past that is Gary Morley, N'nhohbs'aak'chs the Tainted is the first BaneLord for a while, too - three years, we think - and is a cracking sidekick for our other plaguey BaneLegions. N'nhohbs'aak'chs is pronounced 'nobsack', by the way, because we all have the minds of twelve year olds here at Mierce. If you hadn't worked that out already...
All of the releases above were officially released on the 5th of September 2015, and so you can order them right now.
Watch out for the October releases, which should be unveiled soon!

I still argue that with a tiny bit o f work that Priest of Flies would make an awesome Skaven Plague Monk/ Grey Seer type.
Unfortunately I can't be arsed to do that myself.

Post by: plastictrees
It's probably the worst sculpt that Mierce has released since the boob maidens, so I approve of your lack of arse.
Can't remember if I picked up Eadric or not.
Really nice work on the Ogre Drake as well.
Still not sure how I feel about the Norse infantry. Danny Cruz concept work is awesome but hasn't quite been hit on the head with some of the recent releases.

I think the norse infantry is ace. But that Gary Morley sculpt, though? There is nothing that appeals about that one for me. I agree that it is one of the absolute weakest miniatgures coming out from Mierce. :/

I have the Norse infantry. They are nice, but I am not really a fan of the helmets.

I think it might be because the helmets look a bit like the armored helmet worn in the Batman vs Superman trailer.

I recall Mierce saying that these sculpts (the plague priest, mage, and which ever other unmounted banelords Gary did), were just sculpts he had done himself for fun, prior to the banebeasts kickstarter. I think he showed them to Mierce, and they liked them too. They don't really fit in with the Mierce darklands stuff, but they definitely are full of that 90s GW warhammer fantasy aesthetic (which is when Gary was pumping out a lot of stuff for the Tabletop gaming market). I think they're fun, but I can't really hold them to the same parameters as the Darklands stuff, because they really aren't the same thing. Sort of like how I wouldn't compare Xena Warrior princess the TV show to game of thrones, two similar aesthetics, but very different concepts, and direction. Both great though!

I know there were some concerns around using Gary Morley for so many sculpts during the BaneBeasts campaign, and those concerns seem somewhat justified with that priest but then it's not a Darklands range, and it does fit a particular style, so I guess its not the end of the world.
There have been a few duds in the Darklands range itself lately as well, those Norse guys as an immediate example. Bit of a shame.

I'll have to disagree a bit. I agree that you can't compare apples and peaches with each other. However, you should on the other hand expect both the apples and the peaches to hold the exact same high standard if they come from the same garden. I will not compare Xena with Game of Thrones. But I can compare the quality of Game of Thrones with the quality of the Wire. Apples and peaches, same garden.

The Norse Infantry do seem to suffer from the helmets placing the eyes at "just" a little bit...off.
But I'd say that overall there are very few 'duds' in the Darklands range - and any 'duds' in the Banebeasts line are probably more due to trying to match the Warhammer 'aesthetic' than anything else!

Sort of like how I wouldn't compare Xena Warrior princess the TV show to game of thrones, two similar aesthetics, but very different concepts, and direction. Both great though!
I see what you're saying. If Mierce wants to keep a consistency of quality to their products, they have to make sure when the purchase premade sculpts that they are fitting with that established level. I think the stuff Gary has done with the Wyvern, and the dark elf dragon rider is great. And I look at the plague priest and see it as more more of a parody of a nurgle sorcerer, than a serious gaming miniature. I know the mierce team are very nostalgic of that 90's era GW fantasy as well, so for them, it works just fine with what bane beasts is in their mind.
My intention with comparing xena to GoT, was that it's a VERY 90's show, compared to a very popular show from today, both of which have a similar themes (Sword and sorcery fantasy). The wire is an amazing show (at least through season 3, and part of season 4), but a very different theme then GoT, though they share a few of the same cast and crew.

Is there a page which shows you what's in each wave? Couldnt find one.

Post by: OrlandotheTechnicoloured
There's no page with it on, but at the end of each KS update gives a full list of what's due in each wave, except for the few items that don't yet have booked sculptors
(but until they arrive at Mierce HQ there's always the chance they'll slip into a later one)

Rob has put another batch of miscast bits up for sale
http://mierce-miniatures.com/index.php?act=cat&cre=cmp-msc&sou=cat
perfect for conversions, basing bits etc (or with a bit of work from the more experienced you may be able to 'repair' them)
as always its pot luck what you get in the bags, and no returns allowed

I never thought to photograph any of my miscast bags as they are really random, but some were re-sold on ebay so I'll stick them up as examples (its possible to original purchaser kept some bits) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MIERCE-MINIATURES-MISCAST-LOT-Fomoraic-Chaos-Resin-Bits-Lot-/381307931861?nma=true&si=51%252FEZy0FUjO7sQhKMoxzJWkkH08%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 http://www.ebay.it/itm/MIERCE-MINIATURES-MISCAST-LOT-Angelcynn-Norse-Resin-Bits-Lot-/121696474274?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1c55acd4a2 http://www.ebay.it/itm/MIERCE-MINIATURES-MISCAST-LOT-Kthones-Snake-Lizardmen-Resin-Bits-Lot-/121696483848 EDIT: the far right of the photos above seem to be cropped off on linking so I've added the links to the (expired) auctions so those interested can se the full thing I'll take photo what arrives for me with this lot before I start cutting it's worth pointing out that since almost all mierce stuff is multi part you're very unlikely to be able to put together a complete mini, and since some stuff is trickier to cast than other you may end up with multiples of the same miscast bit (I got 5 Bloodmaw bodies in one Norse 500g bag along with a scattering of smaller stuff) also worth remembering since mierce does sell bits if you do manage to repair the body of a large creature (the most expensive bit) you could then buy the missing parts to make a complete mini

So I kind of want to chime in with a dumb/lazy question here, because I need some guidance:
Back when one of these Kickstarters went live I pledged the ~50$ or whatever to get a Back-Cracker for my Skaven. Or pledged at whatever was the "ONE DELUXE MONSTER" tier or whatever, because I don't remember it committing you to a specific choice before everything was available.
I signed up for KS to do that, had never used it before, and have not use it since.
Back-Cracker took a looong time to earn a firm release date.
In the interim AoS has basically killed my interest in adding anything to my Skaven. I'm not looking for display pieces, and playing Mierce's system is not a realistic or desired outcome for me either.
So what are my options now? Can I still dial down to the minimum pledge level and get most of my money back? Am I stuck with having to get one of the monsters? If so, how is that final selection/shipping phase completed? Through the KS website?
I understand that this might read frustratingly like someone who dove into a commitment without fully understanding it, and that is somewhat accurate. I never expected WHFB to actually DIE as a worthwhile system!

Final selection is through their website. However, you're free to spend it on whatever you like. You aren't locked in to the giant mole- rat. You can pick whatever else you'd like, including already released stuff too.
Barring any interest in those models, you should probably contact them directly through the website and explain your situation.

Update #127 Sep 18 2015
Britons and Once-Britons
It's the bi-Friday again, so here we are with a lovely update for you all!
As stated previously, we are now updating you every other Friday (bi-weekly if you will) to ensure we can spend more time getting the Darklands rules sorted.
This week we have...
•sculpt work in progress images from Yannick Hennebo and Stéphane Simon;
•a list of what miniatures are currently being sent in their various waves;
• an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let's begin!
The awesome Yannick Hennebo has now completed work on the Warriors of Dyngonwy and they look suitably superb...
The Warriors of Dyngonwy have turned out even better than we'd hoped, thanks to Yannick's attentions... they are quite amazing!
Aestoc is the last remaining alternate warrior for the unit, from the banner bearer...
These guys will be a Wave 9 shipment!
Stéphane Simon's working hard on the Shadows of Carn Bran and he's nearly finished the fourth guy!
The fourth member of the Shadows, Massen is clearly a bit of a tracker...
These guys should make it into Wave 9, although Stéphane is on holiday now. We'll see!
Wave 6, 7 and 8 shipments are ongoing
Thanks to Tim (our master moulder)'s operation, the recovery from which has not always been smooth, our moulding schedule has been put back by around a month - which means Wave 6 and 7 shipments are ongoing and will be for some time, and we've also just started shipping the first Wave 8 items.
Here's what we think will ship when.
We'll keep this list updated every Friday.
• SHIPMENT WAVE 0: complete for this project.
• SHIPMENT WAVE 4 (beginning November): Skyclad Ciniod - Skyclad Itaina - Gomagg - Sweordsman Timoth - Cæna - Forwyn Carys - Feral Agathae - Tykho - Helmed Naraa - Marked Galagaak - Craven Fiends of Dis (Kaius - Drubal - Bacchus - Kolkhus - Luco) - Kill-Head Flint-Fang - Akkaz - Sáthach - Uhtred on Horse

Items in bold will DEFINITELY be sent in that wave as we have the sculpt; items in italics are in progress and should make it into that wave, but we don't yet have the sculpt.
Here's the big list of who's sculpting what and when for Darklands: First Edition II! Please bear in mind that this list may change over time, so don't take it as set in stone until the first work in progress shots appear.
• Stéphane Camosseto: Stéphane has completed Eoric's Pack, Werwulf Unit, and then it's Armoured Hrōr afterward.
• Roberto Chaudon: Roberto has completed Frenzied Srók, and so Srók will be converted after Frenzied Srók is moulded and cast. See the Darklands: New Kindreds project for images of Frenzied Srók.
• Yannick Hennebo: Yannick has completed the Warriors of Dyngonwy, Rhyfelwr Unit and then he will start work on In III Judas, Demilegionarius Incaendium. There's also Quintus Crito to convert from Bareheaded Quintus, but that shouldn't take him long!
• Stéphane Simon: the Shadows of Carn Bran, Shadow-Drune Unit are underway with Gawen, Kitto and Santoc completed with Massen almost complete; and then it's Ax-Crom - as well as Yrag, Bil and Ekk's Heap.
• Valentin Zak: Valentin has agreed to sculpt the Spears of Dun Durn, Gairlom Unit and will begin those later in the year.
• Unknown: we're not yet sure who will take over Rēoc's Pack, and we don't yet have a sculptor confirmed for Max Schüte's second Descendant, but we hope to confirm him (and have artwork for it) soon.
Not a great deal left to do - we're getting there!
We thought this would be a good idea, as things are cracking on - a list of completed sculpts, in kindred order! Completed sculpts are in bold; in progress sculpts are in italics.

Rat-Rats!
It's the bi-Friday again, so here we are with a lovely update for you all!

This week we have:

• a list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let's begin!
This week we have a nice little update from Yannick Fusier. With Back-Cracker shipped to him, he's now working on Blunt-Claw...
It's early days on Blunt-Claw but Yannick is certainly working hard; he's got the blunt-claw wrong but that shouldn't be too difficult to fix...
We're hoping Blunt-Claw on Goz-Horror will make it into Wave 9, but it's likely he'll be a Wave 10 shipment.

• SHIPMENT WAVE 0: complete.
• SHIPMENT WAVE 4 (November 2014): Oso
• SHIPMENT WAVE 5 (February 2015): Ciniod on Aurogg
• SHIPMENT WAVE 6 (April 2015): Erebius on Behema
• SHIPMENT WAVE 8 (August 2015): Beb on Pig-Bog - Back-Cracker
• SHIPMENT WAVE 9 (October 2015): Brontull - Ágriosávra on Sávrakh - Krekkek - Birna on Fellhrafn - Vaenhildr - Blunt-Claw on Goz-Horror
• Dan Cockersell: Dan has completed Erebius on Behema and has started work on Brontull...
• Allan Carrasco: Allan will be sculpting Birna (that is confirmed), but not the Fellhrafn she rides.
• Roberto Chaudon: Roberto has completed sculpting Krekkek and will sculpt Vaenhildr afterwards, and once Krekkek is moulded and cast he'll be sculpting Ágriosávra on Sávrakh!
• Yannick Fusier: Yannick has begun work on Blunt-Claw on Goz-Horror...
Not too many sculpts from this project, but awesome ones all the same...
We thought this would be a good idea, as things are cracking on - a list of completed sculpts, in kindred order! Completed sculpts are in bold; in progress sculpts are in italics.
• ALBAINN: Ciniod on Aurogg - Oso
• BYZANTII: Erebius on Behema - Brontull
• KHTHONES: Ágriosávra on Sávrakh - Krekkek

That list for October for Monstrous Mounts - probably not happening!
And "Savage Hordes" - missile troops, cavalry and war machines, right?
EDIT:
Yes, apparently!
Creator Mierce Miniatures 22 minutes ago
That's it for today...
Regarding Savage Hordes, it will begin next week at some point (hopefully), and the reason is quite simple - I'm on holiday from October 19th to November 3rd for a family wedding in an unearthly land overseas, and so it needs to be done before then; if we did it afterwards, in November, it would end in December and that would upset our quarterly project timeline.
Anyway. Savage Hordes will give you the Savage Hordes book - simply put, the muster rules and kindred musters - and the project will hopefully produce missile units for every kindred, as long as we get far enough. So it's up to you guys to push those totals higher and higher - this is our "big" Darklands project for the year, so we're hoping to get everything that's in it done!
If you have any questions here about Savage Hordes, please ask...
Today you have seen a Jute Wihtboga, a Byzantii Ballista and an Anglecynn Ceorl [pronounced churl] with Bow today... there's much more!
@Rob - Savage Hordes does indeed imply a muster book...
@Pete - every kindred has art, but how far we get is dependent upon yourselves...!
@Zed - it'll be 2-3 weeks... it has to end no later than the 13th so I can sort everybody out before holiday. Regarding any new kindreds, that's a secret!

I wonder if Heath Foley drew that ballista looking thing. Looks like his style.
Not sure how happy I am that there is yet another campaign coming up. Of course, I say that every time and end up pledging, and I know I get my stuff at some point...
I think I just want to see Monstrous Mounts finally wrapped up before moving on. And the book.

I'm not happy only in the sense that the Gaming Budget has been destroyed in 2015.
I'm already crossing the very nice looking CONAN off my list. Zombicide Black Plague might get stuck at that $1 pledge I placed there. MTYH pledge might not get added too... Damn!

It's the bi-Friday again, so here we are with a lovely update for you all!
As stated previously, we are now updating you every other Friday (bi-weekly if you will) to ensure we can spend more time getting the Darklands rules done.
This week we have:
sculpt work in progress updates from Didier Fancagne, Edgar Skomorowski and Ernst Veingart;
an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Here we go...
Today we have some crackers! Some Érainn (Didier Fancagne), Jutes (Edgar Skomorowski) and Norse (Ernst Veingart), to be precise!
The two Beasts of Síleann Fen that Didier Fancagne was working on are now complete, and look superb of course. How could we expect otherwise from Didier?
Just the one image of Ardann from Didier to show...
He's just about complete.
Again, just the one image of Ollmhór to show...
he work of Edgar Skomorowski has been nothing short of stunning so far, and we expected much when the Drēaguth surfaced. Even so, these guys have exceeded all of our expectations, as you can see...!
The Drēaguth are based upon 50mm bases, and here's a size comparison for you to compare the Drēaguth against the Wihtgār:
Aglæca is the unit's champion and is suitably mean-looking...
Aglæca is pronounced " ag-LA-ka".
The first warrior of the unit is Cynobog...
He's pronounced "KIN-oh-bog"...
Another warrior, Wictred will make you dead like him!
"WIK-tred" is how Wictred is pronounced... or "WEE-tred" if pronounced quickly...
The fourth warrior of the Drēaguth is Cwalu...
He's pronounced "KWAH-loo"...
Last and probably least, Mordwæl will turn you to ash...
He's pronounced "MORD-wal".
We are hoping these guys will be a Wave 9 shipment now! How exciting! As always though, it's all about the 3D printing...
It's been a while since we've heard from the lovely Ernst Veingart but he's popped up with a cracking update for us on Stígr the Felljötunn... the hammers are a bit small but we'll sort that out!

They shouldn't title Wave 6 as the "April 2015" wave, if it is "ongoing and will be for some time"...!
Alpharius wrote:That list for October for Monstrous Mounts - probably not happening!
I know, right? It's kind of insane:
Mierce Miniatures wrote:• SHIPMENT WAVE 9 (October 2015): Brontull - Ágriosávra on Sávrakh - Krekkek - Birna on Fellhrafn - Vaenhildr - Blunt-Claw on Goz-Horror
They even admit that the only one of these they're showing progress on (Blunt-Claw) is unlikely to make Wave 9! And I actually backed that project - luckily for Behema, which was basically already sculpted at the start of it.
I know this has come up before, but I'd be wary of adding to Mierce's resin burden right now... as Ken says, metal makes sense since they can outsource, but they are really loaded down with their resin queue.
I did purchase several copies of Broga from their webstore with no problem, though . Still hoping they'll one day try to make more of a push for "normal" sales! I've gotten to the point where I would rather pay a little more on the webstore for a model I know is available, than pledge for even more models that could be well over a year out even if not predicted that way (Monstrous Mounts is reaching this point already).

I vastly prefer metal for human sized infnatry - especially for anything with spears or other thin, fiddly bits.
Also:
lordfm about 1 hour ago
Also can we expect some cavalry units (especially for Byzantii) during next campaign?
Creator Mierce Miniatures about 1 hour ago
@lordfm - I doubt it. You'd be looking at £200k before we can do cavalry. It's all up to you guys, but this one is missile troops first.
Has any Darklands campaign reached £200k?
EDIT:
Nope!
Most ever was £130K, give or take!
Recent ones haven't - so it is looking like cavalry is most likely *not* happening.
Missile troops and warmachines it is - and the odd giant beast, I'm sure!

The possibility of another kindred is a bit unnerving. I mean, we don't even have ONE Atlantean from new kindreds sculpted yet! The Albainn don't even have their infantry sculpted (though I believe they are next in line).
I won't have much money going into this kickstarter. So, initially, I'll have to stick with only the Fomoraic stuff, and anything that REALLY is a must have. But, lets face it, I can put in some money now, and I've got plenty of time to get more in before these items are finished.

I am a massive fan of the vast majority of the product Mierce puts out, and while fully aware that they have stated they are a kickstarter company now (and have backed 5 of their kickstarter s, none of which are fulfilled) etc etc, yeah I'd like to see some more progress on some of the outstanding sculpts first before I back anything else. I mean the last 3 or 4 bi-weekly now updates have basically been about the same Magnificent Moustachioed Brythoniad Bastards -which I think are awesome- but its still a lot of focus on not a lot of progress.

I wonder if this is the Firesian's (sp?) that were down the road or something brand new? I also wonder if factions like the Vras will get some filler?
A tight campaign around archers, siege engines, and cav would be preferable to me rather than adding full new faction.

Cavalry is not happening this time around, so it should/could end up being tightly focused.

Just to rule something out... there'll be no more "new kindreds" until both archers and cavalry are done.
just so we don't get carried away as I don't see any hope of getting archers and cavalry for ALL the kindreds done as we'd have to got 10 major kindreds, the byzanti/infernii (who might share units)
for a total of 22 (23 or 24) units to fund
plus the vras who need much more than just archers/cavalry

Vras.. Yeah, that's a faction that really needs some love. :/

I'd love to see:
-Ranged units for all existing factions
-Kthones infantry unit (could be designed as a dual kit with the above)
-All of the above units converted to metals
-some war engines (chariots or artillery)
Have those in some good kindred sets and I'll be happy as a clam. There'll obviously be some mixed in variants of monsters and heroes as there has been in the last few campaigns, but that would end up as a about the same size as the 100-120k campaigns we've seen.
Rather than forcing in another faction or two this campaign, that would fill out the factions for the release of the game.

I think the potential issue we're going to see with metal being offered at the same time as resin is the stretches for the units are going to have to be larger
to pay for the sculpting and master moulding + the moulding for the metals,
but since the metals are cheaper if a bunch of us go for them its going to be a lot harder to fund each one
so while things will go fine in the 'throw all the monies' at it stage it will stall more easily once we're being tempted to put in an extra few £s

Actually having metal infantry available is likely to make me spend more money since the cost/model is so much easier to justify. The GBP 54/unit previous projects charged for resin units of ten is pretty steep; the GBP 27/unit for metal units of ten would be a no-brainer for me in resin (and I strongly prefer metal given how delicate many of Mierce's infantry models are). I might well get 3-4 units instead of maybe 1. Pretty sure I'm not the only one, either And while you might have a point re the later phases of the campaign, do remember that convincing a backer to throw in another 25 or so pounds is a lot easier than to throw in another >50.

That's reassuring to know,
I want many, many new shinies to drool over, and more spending means more for me to try and afford

If anything the pricing on the metals might bring in a fair number of backers who were understandably turned off by the fairly premium-priced resin models.

Well it's an unknown isn't it.....if the extra needed to fund metal too is < amount people who back for metal but wouldn't for resin, then it's happy days

is the rule book now finalised? not really into backing another kick starter if it's going to delay/change the rule book.
Creator Mierce Miniatures about 6 hours ago
@Garsha - pretty much, yes. Savage Hordes is already factored into the rulebook. We've been playtesting hard!
I'm really looking forward to that Hardcover Full Rulebook - with diagrams, pictures, artwork, etc.!

My wallet dreads the day the book is delivered, nothing inspires purchases like cool artwork and background.
