Glad that link is new and useful to people. I can't remember where I found it, but I share it freely (it's even referenced in my sprue hut tutorial, so I know where to go when I do want to share it ). More people need to make use of the sprue that they have, and things like this give a great purpose.
Good work Graven.
I think there are plenty of winged things in Gotham, so should fit in well. Probably remove/cover one of the heads and that should make it less 40k and more Gotham.

Thanks, and glad to have been a sig inspiration sprue is the stuff of the gods. I have some metal angel wings too to add, possibly. I may well remove a head. It occurs to me that chaos tank muzzles may be good too for gargoyles.

It was too spiky before. And the base was too fantasy. So yeah... Also, yay/nay to scaffolding?!
Got my Alfred, Gordon and Swat team. Now have a playable force. With swamp thing I'll likewise be set for Ivy (she can use him as a sidekick ) as soon as finish my home made plants (#2 spike plant has begun, wip to follow, currently just a wood elf torso and chaos arm/head/flower/Audrey 2). Got a fab supply drop from Viktor today so can make more ammo dumps and add an assortment of owls...

@Vik: the 'cookies' are in your browser cache. Gerard stopped off to sample some of Germany's many fine beers-- and there are so many-- and well, you may find him sleeping it off somewhere along Unter den Linden Straße.
People did not already have Terragenesis bookmarked?
Make the scaffolding removable. The Aquila sign on the walls, I would cover it somehow. It is too game specific. Perhaps with some climbing vines, ivy of some sort perhaps?
Gitsplitta wrote:Fixed. Old churches are perpetually under repair. The scaffolding may shift, but it would never leave! (like Hotel California)
I'm inclined to agree!

Hmm. Like this? My compromise on the scaffolding is I will make a separate scaffolding piece also, I think.
Further plant work: spore blasting some poor sod and my little ripper plant:
Started assembling the gcpd. Gordon is lovely, Alfred a one piece. Swat are a bit of a pain (flash, awkward arms) AND you only get 3, not all 4, in the box >( so I've decided to make another one, a rooftop sniper (another generic Delta cop) using the 30 Coins model from Helldorado. He's about the right scale, nice pose and eminently gs-able. Not sure what to do with his head yet - what would a police sniper wear? I reckon no helmet or goggles. The model had shaggy hair, I think I might swap for a more military cut if I can find a good head (poss even bare SM).
Great! It's only blu-tacked on for now. I might extend it also over the very GW light on the left side also.
Gitsplitta wrote:I love that vine graven... wow, that's just perfect!
Now concerned I am going to diminish the perfection... I have another sprue of these on the way from Vik, so expect to see a proliferation of ivy creeping across my stuff
Working on the plants, now you can see them side-by-side:
Spore Slaves - mine is the one blasting
Regular plant, "ripper" plant and "titan" plant
Regular plant, and "whip" plant
and together.
Now I'm hacked off because SWAT guys are Unique, which means my plans to build another sniper are nixed. So, decided to build my own "Echo", the 4th SWAT guy - a battering ram dude.
I found this handy pic on the interweb:
Spoiler:
Which is helping me think about poses. Had a rummage in the old box o' doom, went with SM scout legs, IG torso, Valk pilot head and arms from Helldorado guys. Rough up, using blutack also to extend (it's like tru-scaling an SM!):
Which doesn't look like much, but helped me judge (a) scale) and (b) feasibility.
This lead to:
Arms will get cloth anon. Battering ram is from a rocket launcher. Head has front turned to mask to match others, helmet with a more pronounced "bowl" to it. Chest flattened at the top, and gs added to give kevlar vest, equipment etc. Legs have had the overside holster removed and new one made, posing pouch flattened, waist raised for bottom of kevlar, and kneepads that match the official mini's ones.
On another note, I've left the flash on the real guy's shotgun - should I attempt a muzzle blast?
Approaching end of school holidays - so output will diminsh somewhat!
Ah well, such is life,
Graven.
hmmm.... these barricades....are they just obstacles, or line of sight breakers (probably not?) i thought about making these poles that stand on a small base and just hold that police tape upwards...

Happy with how they've all turned out. Bit scared of starting Ivy herself but it would be great to have the band painted for tomorrow (well, minus Swampie) when I actually try this thing!
Thanks man. I was tempted to mostly do Ivy in green washes over her grey primer, actually, so that's useful to know. My swat guy's are getting primed black then will be drybrushed blue, hopefully in time for tomorrow (skin and details can wait). Alfred and Gordon will of course require more attention. I'm right in thinking any model can stand in for any other version of itself, as long as you have the card and agreement of your opponent (outside a tourney, naturally)?
That's what I'm doing, at least for now. When I buy a mini I'm just picking my favourite sculpt if there's multiples, downloading the relevant stat cards and picking whichever profile suits the list best. I can't see it causing any confusion, especially as you'll have the cards to hand if you need to check any abilities.
I'm sure there's much fun to be had using Adam West as Arkham Knight Batman profile! 'Triple sneak attack, unblockable, three knockouts... KAPOW!'

Thanks mate, and always great to have a new face round here. Those chaos spawn are handy blighters. Going to try some from dryad bits next I think...
Viktor von Domm wrote:No...pale white skin, milky...with red hair...I'm adamant !
Still, a little progress. Super cop himself, first WIP.
An amazing sculpt of Gary Oldman, only hope I can do it justice. Going with a scheme that's closer, I hope, to the animated colours - browns, mostly. Going for a purple tie for variety - kids always buy their dad an awful tie, and I bet Babs would get him Batgirl colours just cos Debating hair colour. Thinking greying auburn?
Also, swat team progress.
Don't know whether to keep them all this very dark blue black or make the fabric a mid blue. I'm delighted, regardless, by the home made guy, who I keep forgetting isn't metal and being surprised when it's not heavy.
Lastly, beginning the gentleman's gentleman.
I decided that the bullet riddled piece was fitting - Alfred is utterly unflappable, after all.
Swamp Thing coming tomorrow or Friday, depending on when I get my act together. Looking at Catwoman (can work with Bats or Ivy, good investment), Harley (because Gotham Sirens), and Huntress, because I like her mix of range and speed (my bat-team lacks mobility just now).
Also waiting on the K-wing, but I shall force myself to be patient. A mate sent me the Scum ship cards from Most Wanted so it makes my rebel fleet suddenly playable as a different faction. It's quite neat - I wasn't really planning on picking up any Scum but it does mean my Ys, z, hwk, and firespray (slave 1) all have a new set of play options for be. Can't really complain
Killer frost is ace! Copperhead could also fit the bad chicks.
But then, there's the big guy:
who's coming along nicely I think
The swat - with flash:
so you can see the blue cloth, hopefully?
And I'm really pleased with this fella:
No more pics of Alfred just now. He's slightly miscast, and looks like he has an unfortunate facial expression right now. Don't know how to rectify this. Possibly, sleep.
If Alfred is actually miscast, I'd get in touch with Knight. By all accounts, they're very efficient at dealing with this kind of thing.
I know but I'm stubborn and they're moving office just now! If he were irreparable I'd decapitate him and turn him into a Red Hood though.

Finished swat team:
Each has their designation on the left shoulder, as much for me as anything else! Really pleased with Echo (right hand end), don't think you can tell he's not "real". On the back they just say swat, rather than gcpd, so I can use them for Star City PD (they can work with Arrow too) or just generically.
I think I've repaired Alfred's face to my satisfaction :
Now to work on the clothing and continue weathering the metal.
And of course, the big fella:
A joy to paint. Wondering if he needs more but think he's there tbh.
And that's me, for now. Next, finish Alfred, onto Adam West and get back to Street furniture. It's good to have a plan Later

I have to second RiTides mention of a lightbox. I think the colors are getting a bit washed out in these photos. Or I need a new monitor. (Ooh, one of those new 4k monitors, yeah, that's it...)
And really, get the miscast replaced. I know that Corvus Belli will do so cheerfully, albeit slowly. The companies know they need to keep the addicts customers satisfied.
I was always under the impression that Alfred was not human. Android, Alien or something else ( Demon?) but certainly not human...

Lighting is good.
Something you can also try that can help with photos is to select the background to match the brightness of the mini': A dark mini' in front of a white background will end up looking too dark in a photo (in the same way, a light mini' in front of a dark background will look too light), and details can be lost.
Try a darker background (doesn't have to be black) with a dark mini', and use white (doesn't have to be white) for light mini's. Your camera will thank you for it.

In the mean time, to keep you keen, I've started work on the Adam West Batman:
This is a swine of a model to paint! That symbol is a total nightmare. But there we go (still need a shrugging Orkmoticon!) I emailed Knight about my Alfred with a pic, we'll see what happens, they seem very a pleasant bunch.
Did you sent a pic of before or after your fix of Alfred? If the latter, then they'll double charge you...
While the Adam west batman is my least favorite version of him, and I even have the needed fond childhood memories of the show, I still congratulate you for the paintjob. Looks totally the part.
He looks perfectly kampy also watched as a child. Now you need to photoshop a pow, crash or bang on that pic. Or given his current age snap, crackle, or pop from the arthritis.
Small things-- like the bat symbol --are much easier to paint if you use a pair of reading glasses. Try the +2.00 and/or +3.00 ones. Gentle magnification. Just remember to take them off when you get up to move around.

That's some sad stuff. My hospital chain has a children's hospital here in St.Louis MO. The people who clean the windows outside the hospital dress up as Spider-Man, superman and other Heros to smile at the kids through the glass. They get a big kick out of it.
see...? that´s why Germany sucks... here no one could ever try that stunt...here the insurance companies would eat you alive, the workers unions would trample what´s left and the boss would sack you afterwards for having fun at work...

Well, I might try a magnifier. My eyes are so bad (~-5.0) that suitable reading glasses do not exist. Very sad news, indeed. The humour and humanity that local cops showed when they first pulled him was supreme.

We do get that with the windows here. My wife used to work at a kids hospital (now part of the new giant super hospital that's known "affectionately" as the death star.
In other sad geek news, Yvonne Craig, the original tv batgirl (also Marta, the other orion female from original trek) has died. Sad times indeed.
Not much to report - played the Crisis variant of DC deckbuilding last night, mental, great co-op fun, and we lost with a turn to go against the anti-monitor brilliant stuff, highly recommended. Also watched a bit of Batman getting played so it's starting to make sense to me now (although there was much furious checking of rulebooks - very 40k in that regard )

It'll seem odd until you actually play, then it's very intuitive. Especially if you use dice directly as Action Counters, for the most part it's a case of picking up however many you're assigning to Attack/Defence/Movement and rolling them. The special abilities take a bit more learning, but when you're using half a dozen guys at most, again it's pretty fast to pick up. Keep the Bat-builder handy or simply make a list of the Counter costs for your crew's unique rules and you shouldn't be overwhelmed!
It's actually a really great game once you get the hang of it, and 'feels' just right for the setting/sources.
Good to see the Batman stuff. I have to admit I was put off by the lack of custom gangs. Fancied using some of my Dirz Mechanicus guys as a villain gang
Thanks Paradigm. I definitely noticed that coloured dice rather than infinite counters seems to be the way to do things.
@ llamahead I know what you mean but you can use pretty much anything to be anything - all rules and stat cards are available for free, just count-as.
So, a bit of work:
Started my 6 street barriers and 1 big road block. There will be chipping! pleased so far, feels odd to be painting them blue though
Street Lights have begin. Much washing and glowing to follow.
And... Ka-POW!
Seems fitting to end on a 60s character today
Knight have mailed me to say yes, they see the problem with Alfred and are sending me a replacement. Now do I:
1) Decapitate my current one, and turn him into Red Hood (like I need another gang!)
2) Decapitate the new one, and ditto.
3) Keep him and try to trade him for something else (he is a promo, after all, though somehow that seems a bit cheeky)
Another question, about the cryo-vault. Just now it stands to be square and single-story. I have enough bits to make it either 1/3 deeper or add another half story. A half story adds more play-fun, but would it make any kind of sense, do you think?
Ah, questions. Riddle me this, and so forth...
As for terrain, I think you should go for whichever setup gives most perches/hiding spots/places to fight on ect. The game can be very interactive in how the terrain impacts your play, so anything that adds to that is good.
i wouldn´t decapitate any...if you have a good chance for a deal...then that road i would follow... i think the current alfred is as good as it gets...i haven´t seen such a GS work from you yet... so i would strongly advise you to keep him safe
also...cheeky?..ha! who needs a clean vest...beside alfred of course
I have no clue about set-up, since I don't know the rules. Yet. I am hearing all sorts of good things about this game. Curiousity piqued.
I like the streetlights. And you've reminded me I need to make some of my own.
The reading glasses actually act as magnifying lenses for this sort of thing, so, even with your eyesight, they should work. Try a pair of off the shelf reading glasses. There are those binocular magnifiers too, but I find those uncomfortable and not very convenient to use. The reading glasses really help me.
Sad news indeed about Yvonne Craig. I enjoyed the TV series much more than the movie. ( with Michael Keaton). Never bothered with any of the subsequent films.
Nice start to the terrain. Lights are looking good.
Good job on Adam West
I would wait and see how the new Alfred compares to your repaired Alfred. If new Alfred is significantly better than repaired Alfred, then use him as Alfred and find a new job for repaired Alfred. Although it would be a shame to chop off a head that you worked hard to repair.
If new Alfred is not much different to repaired Alfred, then there's little point in replacing repaired Alfred with new Alfred in the role of Alfred. Then, new Alfred needs a new job, and while it is a bit odd to get a replacement Alfred and then continue to use repaired Alfred, if there's little improvement over your repair work, then consider it a free mini' to pay you for your effort in repairing Alfred. Therefore you can do what you like with new Alfred, be that trade him or chop him.
I hope that is clear, Alfred.
As it stands what other terrain do you have that is over a single story, other than a 3 story tower?
If height and climbing is important, you should have something to climb.
A quick note on terrain height, while I think about it. There are basically three 'height brackets' for the game in practice.
Objects up to 5-6 cm high, pretty much anyone can climb, if they set their mind to it. Objects/levels about 7-12 cm high are only really being climbed by models with Climbing Shoes or similar, which mostly have to be bought as upgrades rather than coming stock. Anything above that and under 30cm is into Batclawing territory, which are again rare outside of upgrades or Bat crews.
Obviously, you want a mix, but too much mid/tall stuff is going to make batclaws very powerful. Just something to bear in mind.
I'd say option 3. The work you've done on repairing his face is great and it would be tragic to destroy that. If they didn't ask for the old one back then your free to do with it as you please, and the new one is compensation for time and trouble. It's not like you photoshopped the pic to get an extra promo.

Yes Alfred, will do Alfred I think having a higher piece will be good, also, because if I can get it at 30cm from the top of it to a point on the tower, you can bat zip line between them

The front of the shrine had always felt very Gotham to me, and a ruined frontage would to my mind be very fitting for the board BUT is it too grimdark? I'll be de-skulling it.
2 weeks left on the LOER contest. Seems to be picking up -still time too!
One last thing. Tales of a tabletop skirmisher is organising a fundraising event Little Heroes for Little Heroes (http://pressganger.blogspot.co.uk/2015/08/little-heroes-charity-fundraiser-is-now.html?m=1). It's an excellent opportunity to raise money for Down's, and paint toy soldiers for auction. I think I'm going to do the promo Bulldog that came with the Kurganovas. Maybe surrounded by body parts?
Thanks one and all for the congratulations. My youngest is delighted though we couldn't understand why he was so desperate for a sister. Found out today :" She can be Batgirl".

Streetlights are from deadzone. Yeah, someone sent me cool bits let's hope my boys are her guardians. My mum's reaction was, "Knowing you, she'll have piercings and tattoos at 14." Not sure if she was trying to scare me or complement me!

Thanks. My best mate's wife is due the month after, so it's double trouble! Court are new 52 villains from Batman, shadowy background manipulators.

I got a mighty box of plants and claws in the post today from Viktor
Lots of potential. I'm considering a completely overgrown 2nd mausoleum, like a greenhouse run riot, plants bursting through the roof (and providing a convenient flat raised surface in the process might have scored some more garden of morr bits generally so we shall see.

well... these bitz are pure gold.. and for your cause i godsend...for me the whole gothic look of 40k was always just a step apart from batman schemes...so go for it... i am also very interested in seeing a burst and grown out of it green house... there is something very poetic about it... liberation and all that...

Glad you like the building and plant ideas. Does seem rather poetic, doesn't it? I am pretty low key, I think what she meant is that any girl of mine will be more goth than pink.
Congrats to you and Mrs Graven on your soon to be arrival. Note though... According to my populating friends girls are more work than boys. So I'd not be too complacent.
Oh, I have some of those mini palm-tree-alike pieces. Not found a use for them yet. You now have more than I do.
Shrine pieces should work fine for Gotham. De-skull them, as you mentioned, remove any double-headed eagles (one head at least), and that'll probably do.
Mini palm trees? They were in the 3rd ed army box, IIRC. I have some lying around. They were strangely fragile when assembled too. I ended up pinning the trunk sections with Q-tips (cotton swabs. I think you brits have a different word for 'em) of all things.

Not much to show you alas. 2nd Morr shrine has had roof torn open. I have made khorne happy by sending many skulls his way having begun the de-grimdarking of the shrine of aquila. Now, a question - what, if anything should I replace them with? Many can simply be sliced off or GS smothered, but what of the very raised ones?
the chaos gun barrels would be perfect... i have every version here too and can attest to my statement... and damn, i wanted to send you some architecture gargoyles i got from dave forgot to include them...
Very early wip. He'll pinned to the base but removable, so he can be used on a different one of required. I've gone for a large open base so that folk could potentially add a character model to it also. That mate sense?

A guy I know did this with a couple of Bastions to make the sides and back (so a trapezium) which looks very cool but would be too chunky for my needs. This gives me a nice frontage I think; yes, it makes making the flooring more challenging but that's a cross I'll have to bear Which angled side looks better, as you look it, left (narrow) or right (wide)? Thoughts?
I like that setup for the church/shrine. Not only does it make it go a little bit further, but it also suggests a larger building 'off board' which is fitting. I'm also a fan of setting up 'streets' that run diagonally across the board, which the trapezium setup allows; have buildings parallel to each side and you get a nice, varied layout rather than just a 'grid' look.
Looking forward to the batrep, is this your first game?
I like the right hand side of the church. If your going to widen a building then might as well go big . How will this function as terrai? Will it be somewhere to fight in? Or will it be decoration for the side of a table?
Is there a particular reason you have chosen those angles? Such as a convenient reference/weak point on the pieces should you want to cut them to fit with a mitred edge.
Otherwise, it depends on how much space you want the building to take up; 12 inches, 18, 20... Decide on that and make the angles to fit.
Llamahead wrote:Big feral cats Malifauxs Hoarcats prides worth a look in fact Malifaux is worth a look for fun skirmishy models in general.

Functional, definitely. Yeah, wider it is then!

Indeed, thinking in terms of my mitre block I think that I'll 135°, that should do the trick

Shouldn't be too big. It will sit on the edge of the board, is my thinking. Equally, Batman demands busy tables! And gargoyles - TNG cast ftw! Loved that show.
and of course gargoyles^^ i am often into mixing universes^^

So, a Batrep. However, basically, it's an amazing game - one of the best small scale skirmish games, or indeed 28-ish mm I've played.
We played the smallest version of the game, 150 points / $500. What does that translate to? Well, a boss character (leader or sidekick) runs at anywhere from half to most of that, a free agent (mercenaries) similar, and henchmen anywhere from 10-40.
I decided to go Law. The game is about victory points and objectives, which ivy can't really do at low values as her plants are static, so would need something mobile to compensate. Batman is too pricey, so law it was.
Jim gordon is an elite boss for swat, so you can take more than one. Cue 2 swat, Alpha (pricey, big gun) and Echo (cheaper, melee). Swat are tough, but more important quick, so good for covering table. The downside? They cost $ as well as, so no extra gear for me.
To pair with Jim (at setup, you have to split your team in half), I went for the cheapest basic cop in the game, affectionately known as Fat Cop, basic guy with a baton.
We were up against Two Face, an expensive and heavy hitting boss, with two of his crew, a fast loony with an axe and a gun toting goon. Having fewer models is not necessarily a disadvantage as activation alternates - so you can pass, giving you a measure of control.
On to setup. This is a game of busy urban boards; we decided to centre on Crazy Eddie's Junkyard, and with our random furniture giving us each a lamppost and 2 sewer tokens, it started to come together. It's always night in Gotham - you can only see 30cm unless something is within 10 cm of a lamppost - and you can move freely between sewer tokens.
3 objectives each - Ammo and Titan (stat boost) for both of us, Loot in the centre from my opponent and from me a couple of Riddles down (they're 2 for 1) - crazy Eddie's dirty secrets and stash! You can use any but only your opponent's are with points (usually). We were keen to see if the game felt sufficiently cinematic, and for scenario we got Patrol - opposite corners, a vp for first hit, 3 for ending in the opponent's deployment. Time to play this!
Turn 1
Action economy is key to this game. You have a number of actions equal to your willpower - 5 on average - to distribute between move, Attack, defence and special. You can move 10cm but move counters give you d6 extra (or can be used to manipulate objects and objectives) , Attack counters let you attack (2 to use a range attack, at full rate of fire unless you moved) , defence let you block in melee. And special? Well, used for some abilities and things like opening sewers or running (double base move) are 1 move + 1 special.
A slow start though. Swat start to take position, cops head into the yard. Two Face crew split and spread out.
Turn 2
In any turn, you don't know who's going first - there's an equal number of tokens in a bag and when it's yours, you choose. We realised that in a 6 turn game (as scenario dictated) our board was a bit too wide. Cue more moving, but close enough for me to score a Vp from my opponent's loot.
Turn 3
I get to go first, and immediately go for the riddle with Gordon. His Detective trait gives me +1 on attempts to solve riddle objectives (d6, on a 1 you lose a vp) - natural 6, it's worth 3VP! Ultimately (spoilers!) this is what wins me the game. Detective is amazing, because it also allows you to negate a pass, which in a large crew is key. Gordon totally worth it.
This is also where things start getting messy. We're up close and personal - but not close enough. Getting used to judging cm, not inch, distances is tricky! We both fail marvelously to shoot one another. His goon catches my swat guy though, diving from the rooftop but blocked by his body armour - still a vp. Next turn is going to be messy. Another vp to me for holding the bag! The axe goon, meanwhile, goes after the other riddle and rolls a 1, losing the vp.
Turn 4
Full auto, opening fire on the goon, for 3 hits. 2+ wound.
Serves me right for using my owl dice. That's 3 1s right there.
Two Face moves up by the building, back up for his goon who dives in with the axe - and misses the cop, who I've loaded up with defence tokens.
Other swat guy goes for a sprint. Dives down the sewer - Rolls enough move!
Turn 5
I lose the draw. My swat guy gets shot and suffers for it. RUN AWAY! Totally throw Two Face by popping out of the sewer next to him, try to batter him but he's tough! Gordon goes for a shot and misses, but swat's not in the way so no chance of hitting him at least. Still Two Face is forced to punch him, not shoot Gordon.
Turn 6
Two Face heads off - leader death is 6Vp, and he's not taking the chance. Gordon pops one off at the axe guy. Not enough to finish him though. Uses his take cover! special to add an extra defence token over the cop's defence 3 to 4, enough to save him, however. And then a Hail Mary pass - melee swat sprints for the enemy end zone, but rolling 5 cm extra move only left me just short. However, my opponent agreed that he didn't see it coming and it was a gutsy move.
Overall - a complex, but not over complicated game. Once we had our heads round rolling equal or over, we got into the swing of it. Half an hour setup, including designing our board for the fun of it. Just over 2 hours to play, and with yes quick reference sheets handy surprisingly little checking of books. Very impressive, love it.
May have got Nightwing to beef up the good guys
Also...
Doggy!

Sounds like a fun game! I think I'd probably agree with your assessment that it is one of the best games out there, especially in how close it 'fits' the theme. Mechanically it's also very smooth, I think I stopped needing the rulebook (beyond the odd check) after about 4 games.
Dog looks great, hopefully he raises a bit for the cause!
Knightley wrote:Interesting Batrep, if you were to compare it to any other game you've played what would be the closest?

The dice/action economy is reminiscent of Saga, which may explain why I like it. The mechanics are similar to Helldorado for trait insanity. And as skirmishy fun, it's really necromunda/=][=munda.

Thanks! I need better pics. New light box setup not quite there yet. Yeah, by turn 5 we were away from the book
Holy Batrep Batfans! it really is a great game. But you are looking at at least £10 a model realistically, which is steep.
Didn't stop me picking up Nightwing (ultimately, to run with Birds of Prey) and Firefly (mobility for Ivy crew) today.
Potentially odd question - do you think that the above would make sense to non-gamer comic fans?
Huh, as I read the above I was about to ask the same question! I kind of want to run the Birds as a) I'll end up with them all anyway from Bat/Arrow crews, b) I love all-hero teams and c) they're awesome, but the fact they cap at 200 rep means you kind of need cops. But if you could throw in Nightwing and/or Robin and have it make sense then cool!
Ooh, at 350 you can fit Nightwing, AC Robin and the BoP! That That could be awesome!
That looks awesome. I'll have to read the Batrep when not on my phone though.
Please stop teasing me with other games , I'm really upset that I didn't hop on the miniaturemarket deal of the day a week or so ago when they had the rule lol for $35.

DO IT! DO IT NOW!
Anyway, need me some more buildings. On with the cryo-vault!
Windows blocked up with excess blister packaging. Deadzone ladders (the gift that just keeps giving...) Roof is a beer slops tray (I think) and a kids' smoothie lid. Obviously, it will be getting covered in Ivy
If you can stand the AK Robin model, just get that and print the AC card. I did that the other way round as I'm not a fan of the new model (2 Bo staffs is impractical even by superhero standards!).
Oh hey I have like 50 of those smoothie lids saved up in a baggie for future use. Lately I started cutting off the little pip they sit on as well for chimneys
Watched Batman 89 with the kids the other night so excited to be getting DrH's amazing bell tower, and it galvanised me into doing some more on the deco frontage. I hadn't really appreciated how like the shrine the front of Gotham cathedral is - or rather, that gw had clearly modelled it on the Burton.
So anyway, with that in mind, the building continues.
Encouragingly, without even being told, the 7 year old saw it and said "that looks like the church from Batman". "But it needs the bell tower."
As a rescue project, it's going to have niggles, but given that it's a ruin a few cracks only add character, right?
Ensuring the floors are strong enough to support metal minis is going to require some creative thinking. I suspect deadzone rails will come into use once more!
I plan to extend the lower floor out to double depth, so there's not as far too fall - still a potentially dangerous fall, though not guaranteed lethal.
Also, the first mausoleum is done:
Abandoned the scaffolding. Happy as it is the wrecked one is in for a prime just now as is the vault.
Got my replacement Alfred. Very impressed with their customer service. Now debating whether to decapitate him...
Cheers,
Graven
Anyway, more on the interior floor sections:
This gives is a range of points of access, vantage points, levels etc. I still have some concerns about how much weight it can support but there are beams etc in place. Getting there. I've tried to create the sense of something large collapsing through it, which I think is there, with the sloped floor giving logical access to the level above. Need to make door lintels and get doors on, and then get on to gargoyles, drain pipes and other exterior features again. Keen to get the build finished this week as the LOER contest is nearly done so I'll be building prizes for that!
Talking of building, got the next 2 bats figs built :
Tbh, aside from some upside-down drying, firefly was a much easier build than Nightwing, who needed his neck trimmed and arms very delicately handled. Still, lovely toys. Going to have a lot more brick litter for firefly, but I really love the new semi-scenic plastic bases from Knight. Nightwing will likely get some cathedral off cuts to things together. Colour wise, Nightwing will be standard black/blue. Firefly I think I'm going to tend towards dark browns with yellow accents, muted smoky tones rather than too Wasp-y.
Confession time - I have a K-Wing that I haven't even touched yet! Ah, the perils of new game distraction. Actually, it's partly because I'm loving having more substantial projects to work on, but also it's nice to know that I have something that I can do quite quickly if I'm in the mood to do so.
Thanks bud. Yeah, buttresses may be coming. As for Alfred, it's the replacement one I got from Knight. I may in fact just him to a mate as a means to corrupt him into the game

I realise I forgot to post the state of the exterior:
I never heard of firefly either, or copperhead, but I'm a marvel nut not that big on DC. That's probably why I've been able to stay away from the game so far, even with you and Para both doing great paint jobs and bringing the excitement.

Stand by... They already do a Marvel line in 35mm (not to mention the mind-blowing 70mm ones, make sure you're sitting down or the large scale Iron Man will floor you!) and there is a Marvel/DC Supers crossover game in the works...
That and some Marvel guys they do could easily be counts-as'd into the Batman game. I'm still considering a Spidey (Miller Batman), Daredevil (Nightwing) and Punisher (Red Hood) team at some point in the future.

So, first of all, my little bit over at bigcomicpage.com, Geeking Out, has attracted the attention of Knight miniatures, who are delightfully going to send me "a couple of starters" to review
And so might as well get on with some stuff!
The basic idea for "Ivy's" Mausoleum:
Out the roof as well. yay/nay?
Possible gargoyles for the cathedral?
Quite nurgling ish. Not sure.
Congrats on the well deserved attention, not to mention freebies.
I knew there were marvel figs out there. Miniaturemarket has some sitting heavily discounted in their shop where the boxes were damaged. I've been fighting buying one for the painting challenge this month. I have a great idea for it, but I also just need to get my dreamforge stuff painted.
Just spent 3 hours reading through your work Graven. And that's with filtering on.
Wow! Wow! Wow!
I had a little moment of nostalgia seeing the Inquisitor Terminator I did for you for the SM Swap. I forgot about that. I may have to make another one. Or two.
Gitsplitta wrote:It's an arm holding a big, whopping mallet.
Congratulations on gaining the well-deserved attention of Knight Miniatures! Your work clearly speaks for itself.
That's it aiming to make a new 52 Harley. Roller boots may prove tricky! And I think Knight just see the advantage in spreading the joy into other markets.
Paradigm wrote:That's awesome! Do you know yet which sets you'll be getting your hands on?
I say go all-in on Ivy-ing the mausoleum, so definitely grow something out of the top too! And the gargoyles definitely look useable!
Not a clue. I'd wager Joker though, as that's going to have a degree of mass appeal. Dunno about a Bat but you'd think one of Brucie.
The plants will be rampant?

Great work buddy. Really awesome stuff.
Aw thanks bro. She was great, loved the use of abaddon bits. Hope I can help with the mentors!
Still havering over the gargoyles. Where to put them?
oh...of course its harlequins mallet... serves me right for looking dumb if i only look at the pic from my mobile
but i still think these gargoyles are very tiny and i can´t really tell arse from elbow^^

I'd say yes on the flora. Gargoyles are a nice touch!
Very true, alas. Hopefully as part of the greater whole that will be less obvious.

Huzzah! Always worry sending stuff to you, don't trust your post after the Xmas present went walkies
Just a quick update otherwise: work on my new 52 Harley Quinn. Now needs pads and a bit of a hem to the hot pants.
The wheels are made from grenades. Seems appropriate
ah.... now i see where the skates are developing to...
and what kind of hotpants hem do you want to make? hippy style? all ripped and threads showing?...jeans style?
also, will you create some wood grain on the mallet head?
ah...now you´ve literally drawn me a picture but isn´t there a suitable hem already sculpted on the mini...if my eyes don´t deceive me yet again? also looks like garters there too?
(Oh, and nice use of 3rd Ed trees for Ivy's shelter )
Yup. Blame Vik, he sent me them

So not really. Need to gs out the creases on the inside thigh, too. Debating whether to try bending down the pigtails - or indeed lopping them off and replacing with straighter ones (csm hair plumes, methinks).
Thoughts? Need to get her built and primed asap, really, because I'm aiming to have her, Nightwing and Firefly ready for the Tower. *squee*

That's a possibility. Here she is gsd up:

and yep, these folds need to go, and as for the pig tails...i´m with red on this one^^
Right o! I suffer for y'all... But wait! What was that in the background?
How cool is this?! The mighty DrH delivers! Much better pics in his blog but I'm so stupidly excited by this I had to share immediately!
Oh, and it's seriously playable:
So, state of my workbench :
As you can see one or two things going on the height of the cathedral and the Tower match nicely. I appreciate that a bell tower should be higher than the cathedral front but from a playability point of view this is practical and playable.
And some rubble around Firefly:
And the front:
Really should crack on...

Well the tower could have been much taller before it was damaged.
Glad to see it arrived safely. Looks great with the "proper" miniatures on it.

The tower looks great along with the rest of your terrain.
Did Dr. H actually deliver it? By hand? That would have been even cooler opening the door and expecting a pizza delivery person and finding Dr. H out there instead with some terrain (possibly made from a pizza box ). Of course then you'd feel the need to bring him in and play a game or twelve .
Plus old batman up there really makes a vision of a crazy old coot running around in batman PJs waking wishing noises.
Tbh it's always fun when a blog turns into a forum for random chat. Means it sustaines itself. I feel like I've achieved something
Anyway, here she is.
I definitely do not recommend googling Harley Quinn hot pants, BTW. shocking.
With her built, I just have one more of the current batch to do, the most notoriously difficult regular based model to assemble: Catwoman (it's her whip, apparently). This does mean the Gotham sirens will be done, however
Automatically Appended Next Post: So yeah. That is a pain.

also...she needs to get primed asap...so we then can appreciate her in the fullest^^
so you went to the DE pig tails then...looking good, did you pin them?
also...the new catwoman suit/outfit isn´t really my thing...i really liked the michele pfeifer suit...that looked good, while it had one downeside...no hair shown...while usually i like goggles, i just don´t understand why they have to go with a catwoman costume... ok she´s a burglar and needs to cope with stormy winds on top of roofs and all that...hmmm
What's crazy about delivering parcels dressed in Batman PJs...?
Oh yeah, I did also make the jetbike since then...and the UFO crash... anyway...

Googled immediately.
Harley is looking good. I liked the original pig-tails, but then the new pig-tails are good too... I just like pig-tails... I wonder what google has to say about Harley Quinn Pig-tails... Ooo
Good luck with catwoman. Addition of cat and cat-litter ( ) are a must.
Viktor von Domm wrote:...i really liked the michele pfeifer suit...that looked good,...
Best catwoman. Not just because it was Michelle Pfeiffer, but she had that craziness that I think works for anyone running about in a costume... wait a minute...
^that doc! the whole post^^
does anyone still remember thyphoid mary? i liked that nutshell^^
also... pig tails are gorgeous...the hair do ones...not actual pig tails...i know some prefer them as a wholesome meal...but...thanks , but no thanks^^
I think the gargoyles might be too tiny. sorry. When i think Gargoyles I think big and scary, and something large enough for our hero to stand on and lookout over the city.
THose fit the spots nicely, but are more decoration than intimidating protectors.
Hmm. Ok, how about as a compromise keep the tiny ones and add 2 big ones jutting out from above the window arches that are wide enough to be used as platforms?
That sounds good, I was thinking of them as decoration but for playability, you would want larger ones. I think KM do some appropriately sized ones, but I have a feeling they are a bit pricey.
Even old warhammer chaos demons might work. If you could get some of the bloodletters in plastic and flatten the back they could be some scary gargoyles.
Thanks for all your input chaps. Another idea, more abstract/angular perhaps:
Also, the latest LoER contest is now closed - and public voting is here!
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/663856.page#8123040 Remember, you don't need to abide by the ratings of the contest - just pick your favourite! I do strongly suggest that you look at full galleries if you have time.
Cheers,

Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh, rubbish pic. But still :
the agressive plantlife noow looks convincing...
and if you add a spout, some kind of...angular pipe to the demon face then this could work too...maybe the angle of that face needs to be shifted too...more like it will be about too spit downwards...
i beg to differ theo... for me the second one has more win ...my reasoning is, it looks a bit more graphical, geometric in a way... it is more architecture than actual living being... which i see in the first one...
and plant life is always better with peeps with a green thumb
kids kids you're both right Still not sure about the gargoyle's head, or whether it will have wings, but I took rolling pin to the front to get the eagle head off, with a view to it being a horizontal platform. Plan?
Okay, Okay, Okay.....just put the rolling pin down this doesn't have to get violent.
I think the Bat perched out on the eagles snout will be epic
Edit:
Spoiler:
Stopped by miniaturemarket on the way home from working at church.. Guess what they had sitting on the shelf for half price emphasis on HAD. All because of a scratch on the cover right between that glare spot and my thumb.
Right. I'm going to try vargheist wings. While waiting, back to other stuff :
I don't plan on taking the colour on the cryo vault up much from this. Mausoleum will get creamier but I want it to be distinct from the other one, not copies of one another.
Hopefully, I'll get some painting time this weekend. Harley next!
Overgrown Mausoleum looks good. The plants work well (better than I thought they would look having seen the sprues).
Grotesques look like some of them need a larger plinth to stand on; some angles it looks like they are the equivalent of a fat man sitting on a racing bike saddle.
Yes to change in Eagle head angle.
Gargoyle: I prefer the first head. but needs different wings. Maybe more bat-like and less feathery.
Think about merging the wings into the wall, as if they had been carved from a single piece of stone with the head.

Vault looks a nice colour.
Thanks for input, I shall take on board.
In the mean time, colours getting blocked in
And a better view of Harley
Quite happy with how the colours are coming together!
I agree about Nightwing being a bit of a pain to paint, minis that are essentially two colours often are. I wonder if the New 52 style red suit detail would make him pop a bit more? I also have a feeling we might be getting a new sculpt for Mr Grayson at some point, this one is among the older ones and since Drake and Todd got new sculpts based on AK, I think it's only a matter of time before we are a new Nightwing.
i have to say your harley is very good...she is exactly inbetween being a nutcase murderous looney and looking still as an innocent sweet lady...up until you receive the mallet you didn´t seeing coming because you scanned for to long her ... the new pigtails changed the character of that sculpt quite immensely...more than i could have guessed before...
also... the overgrown and out grown mausoleum is now looking very promising...
Thanks one and all.
Been busy putting finishing touches to stuff.
First, the vault.
Not Mr Freeze's hideout.
Honest.
And the overgrown Mausoleum, which crucially can support the weight of mini on the top:
Not an Ivy hideout...
Catwoman:
(Fuzzy) butt shot to show litter
And Nightwing:
PITA...
And, Firefly
Again, fuzzy butt, apologies.
Pleased with how things have gone. I'll need to get a mass terrain pic soon! However, next project is a little something for the ViKtor of the LoER contest
actually...have you considered a little colour experiment? the ivy leaves you use for the creeping plants on the vault entry...if you switch the paint scheme there towards cold blue ...i wonder if this could also stand for ice....hmmm...
also... i wonder if it is possible to have your batman minis not in a grim dark paint scheme but more with striking lines and harsh contrasts like they are in the books... so that especially the nightwing doesn´t give you so much hardships...
Spoiler:
more this:
than this:
it looks to my unaided eye as if you´re drybrushing over black, yes?...
Well Nightwing was more horrible face sculpt. I have a big DC canvas much like that but I'm very pro ultra dark Gotham. Grimdark you might say.
Like the Ivy idea, got to try that
^ Thanks mate I'm really happy with him. Exactly what I was going for. Now to wait for Blackgate prisoners 2 (woo! 4 mooks!) and other goodies
In the meantime, a wee change of pace. First up, a K-wing, finally!
Missed doing tiny spess-sheeps. Good for a break and a breather.
Now, our good friend Vik has chosen, as his LoER prize "something steampunk". Rather than a scenery piece it's going to be a character model: Viktor, the Doomed Knight -
Upon his hellish stead, the accursed Knight is Doomed to ride across fields of war for all time. His armour, a belching prison of steel and steam, fuels his deadly jezail, where he seeks the deadliest of foes for his hunting pleasure... or chance of release. In his wake, a chittering rabble of stunted goblinoids squabble over the thin spoils of his victory.
bloody hell.... this will be a fun ride to watch develop...

Glad you like the look of him I might try to get a pumpkin on the base for you then the backpack is from a csm rocket launcher guy.
K-wing is indeed an absolute beast. Can carry a huge amount of ordnance, it's a flying fortress. I love how it feels like a functional, practical, inelegant piece of kit. None of this smooth aesthetic, it's just a bomber from hell. Very military, but very believable for late Rebellion era.

Been working on getting the steam-knight and his story together. He's on a base, with the plan to be smoke around the horse's hooves, and muddy battlefield all around.
Been working on the scrap gobber, grubbing around the leavings of the battlefield:
didn´t expect to be that scenic of a model...cool!
what on earth is a scrap gobber? does he gob scrap? lol... reminds me now of a steampunk weird version of don quixote and sancho panza?

My work here is done!
Had another game of Batman this week. Tried my Ivy & Gotham Sirens. Wow, talk about your glass ninjas! Catwoman is very fragile, if scary fast. Harley with massive hammer is astonishingly good. One thing is that models are surprisingly durable in this, far more so than most game systems. Definitely a plus in my book - even the goons are stubborn.
Speaking of which. The fine folk of Knight Miniatures, who make the Batman minature game, reckon you can play the game with 2 starter sets. So let's put this to the test.
2 starters, with a bit of judicious online shopping, shouldn't set you back more than £40. With the rules and tokens available as free downloads, that's not bad - if it works.
So we begin with 2 starters, Commissioner Loeb's Gcpd and The Penguin.
Both sets feel like quality products. Cardstock on the stat cards is heavy-duty, style is neat. Maybe a little cramped, but looks good. I love the textured plastic bases, they're a nice touch, and add to the accessibility.
The models themselves are chunky but realistically proportioned. They captured the Penguin especially well, but they all have a cinematic realism to them.
Casting wise, you will find the odd mould line or bit of flash. As for Assembly, most are 2 or 3 part models. You shouldn't need to pin them, certainly.
So let's look at how well they go together.
Law
These are lovely models. The detective is a one-piece, Loeb's hand is inexplicably separate, and the other 2 are multi part.
Nice, clean builds all.
Penguin
Cobblepot and Co are a bit more intricate.
Still, fine with some patience. I dislike the pose of the baton guy so that may require some tweaking.
Worth it?The choice, dear reader, is yours. Ultimately, outlay can spiral as with anything. I think it's a fair investment in some rather marvellous toys, personally.
So, they're ready to play, albeit unpainted. Tune in next time Bat fans, same Bat-time, same Bat-channel (well ish) for a test run of the game with an uninitiated novice. Or something.
Also, Vik's prize progresses but it's not terribly clear from the pic, sorry :
All around and over the 40mm base will be flames, I think.
Also, the glorious Vik has decided that the next LoER contest has Got Wood
I'm going to keep things pretty simple this time around: a wooden billboard for my Gotham layout, made largely of coffee stirrers. We shall see how it goes!
Nice selection of minis! I wish you could get that Detective and SWAT guy separately, though, I'm not a fan of Loeb or Branden.
They should pair pretty well, you've got no uber-heroes there that can unbalance things at low points (AK Bats or Big Bane can probably face most Starters on their own) so I'm interested to see how this plays out.
@Red Harvest: That's based on the version from Arkham City as far as I know,
Yeah, it's really nice. Very expressive; you really see the advantages of 35mm.

I agree about Burgess Meredith and am considering going purple for my Penguin, but actually the look of the mini is quite BTAS.

I know what you mean about Loeb and Branden but their resale value - especially Branden being usable by 4 factions - is pretty decent. I wouldn't have bought the set, but I'm not saying no to it either
Solar_lion wrote:Good review but I'd like to see a battle report to see how it plays.
But I agree that I do need to do a Batrep with these guys. Ditching one or other cop makes it even (well, 143 vs 150) but I'd rather ditch either Loeb or Branden just cos.
hmmmmmm.....nice...speaking if the base...^^
i have to say i look forward to have this piece in my hand...these pics currently create a great deal of mystery...

Sorry I'm a bit intermittent. RL, mostly. Lots of small person preparation. Whole other kind of miniature.
Started redoing bases for the new crews.
Broken city streets for corrupt cop and rooftop sniper position.
And variety of bases for the penguin crew
Upmarket street for Oswald, rubbish for one of the gang, broken street for the car door guy, and a hydrant for the guy who has the ability to always duck for cover.

Once again, you make me ashamed of my BMG bases! I keep meaning to add something more to them, but never get around to it. Definitely plan to scatter some playing cards on the bases of my upcoming Joker/Harley crew.
I'm loving the Batman figures. The game looks fantastic, and certainly lends itself well to the whole atmosphere of grimdark Gotham. I'm hoping your new additions arrive tomorrow, as I didn't even open the package to have a sneak peek, so it'll be great to see them in all their glory!

My photography certainly sucks
Yeah, rocket penguin - it's an ammo objective for the gang. I'm also going to paint a rubber duck gold as a loot objective very 66 Batman. But not sure what to do for Riddles or Titan but that's not quite such an issue - the unmarked graves really fit the Penguin theme anyway, and toxic waste is pretty legit for him too.
So thought I'd paint more today. Apparently the wife had the same idea, so I painted the living room
Still, started laying colours down :
And the gargoyle is finally starting to get into shape :
Need to stretch wing membranes across, likely to be gs rather than plasticard.
Lighting. The key to photography, as I am slowly learning. Try jury rigging a lightbox. And for me, I stopped using a white background. It messed with the camera's white balance, no matter how much fiddling I did.
Sadly, house painting skills don't transfer well to miniature painting skills. D
Good work on the little people. From a distance I thought you'd turned the detective into Rorschach, but it's just the shading on the face (the model would make a good Rorschach though... )
Gargoyle is certainly shaping up to be in the child-scaring category.

Yes, you're quite right, I need to take proper photos. Mea culpa hopefully those below are better. And thanks mate! The gargoyle is a fun one, just working through what bits seem right. Taking a bit of distance has helped.

Quite a few folk have gs'd his face to do Rorschach. There is a whole Watchmen crew for the game, completely self-contained - can't say I'm not tempted Yeah, #1 son agrees that the Gargoyle is creepy. Job done!
Right, onto pics:
Had a bit of fun making a loot objective for my Penguin gang in true '66 style:
Ammo counter for scale
Penguin and gang:
The goons are Emperor, Royal and Blue, so that determined their colouring Love the Oswald model especially.
And the "honest" cops:
Again, pleased with these. All of the above were done with a very limited selection of paints - Vallejo black, dead white, stormy blue, gory red, leather brown, medium fleshtone (plus some patient blending) and GW reikland fleshshade - as a test for myself as part of my next article for bigcomicpage.com (shameless pluggery!) Worked pretty well, I think.
Time ticks by. Need to get on with gargoyle, need to Get Wood for LoeR, and really need to paint Vik's prize from the last LoeR but have hit a bit of a wall with colour schemes. Maybe I should go and paint my house instead...
Later, and thanks as always for C&C and support,

So just a quick update. Enjoying the October holiday with wife and kids. And beer. Got a big toy: new car, Peugeot 5008. I like to think of it as a miniature case for my expanding child collection. Sad to see my lovely Honda cylon go, but such is life.
Geeking, I managed to get a tamiya mud stick and sand stick (didn't even know the latter existed) today which I need for Sir Viktor's base. I think I have got my head around the colours I'm going for. Ivory steed (comes a pale rider...) dark blued steel on Vik himself, dark red robes on the dagger wielding goblin... I am able, finally, to visualise it. Might even start it.
Also, I finally worked out how the gargoyle was going to work. Quick test of wing prototypes:
These were done by making very thin sheets of gs and flexing to shape. They are supported with paper clip pins as ribs (or fingers, I suppose).
And on the eagle:
Then, got on with the wings:
Apologies, especially to red Harvest, about pics Needs some smoothing, filling etc. I'm happy with the weird creepy crawling wing and limb angles (many pictures of clawed bats climbing used as reference!) and I feel like it's about to launch itself on some assailant. Got to get the rest of the eagle head done too, and then get it all primed so the thing is done.
On the subject of buildings, Knight have been very positive about my Geeking Out blog posts (over here at BIGCOMICPAGE.com) and so are going to send me some of their mdf terrain to review! Huzzah!
So a little bat hiatus, and then back full throttle!

Yeah, I'm really chuffed - as long as they don't send me Arkham Asylum, it's huge!

Thanks mate! She's had a lot of love, I'm delighted with how that conversion turned out.
Something different: Sir Viktor. Once I had the colours in my head, it all sort of rushed out of me:
The Doomed knight, Sir Viktor Von Domm, rides upon his pale hell-steed, while ethereal flames are left in their passing along with death, destruction, and a gaggle of scavengers keen to find fresh trinkets, strong armour, sturdy pipes, exotic esoterica or just plain flesh.
If you'd like more/better pics, just ask, and I can but try... Or wait till Vikto Von Domm gets him
Really happy with how he came out. There's an insane quantity of bits and bobs there. Props to Dr H for his amazing wood-sprue.
Other stuff. Nephew's birthday tomorrow. Tried to help wife make sugar animals. Conclusion: Hippos are not easy to make (Noah's Ark cake) - or as she put it, Sugar paste is not Green Stuff (well, no, the hippos were blue...) I have even more respect for her cakey talents now.
What next? Cathedral is in for priming. Having a mighty loot clearout for Cam, LT and Bash. Then, on to the rest of the cops and... the Birds of Prey are coming!
now i wanna see the holy grail this knight is searching for...
looks amazing...i never in the slightest would have assumed your take on steam punk...it is such a dark and evil looking version... the base is really like a frame of a painting...love alll the details, and the additional characters like the grot and that ...monk(?)
that is a piece i will treasure!
as for the sculpting...i always wanted to attend one future day a class at a community college in sculpting...
my wife recently told me about a recipe for moonsand...that´s a special sand you see in pedagogic institutions that is sculpt able as it holds forms a bit longer...made from sand...and starch...

Really glad you approve! I guess I always tend towards the darker shades. There's the grot scavenger and there's also the red-robed grot ("monk?"), plus many other fun details - hope you enjoy having it as much as I enjoyed making it¡

Thanks mate! I'm still rather frustrated that I'm not able to paint as well as I used to but I think this is not a bad effort.

They can send it to me. I don't say no to free stuff.
Good job on Sir Viktor. Nice set piece, lots of details.
And good work on the gargoyle and figures.
Mine! My toys! no idea what they're going to send actually, it's a glorious mystery... Thanks mate. Btw that crate you sent will materialise soon
Gitsplitta wrote:Excellent work on the night graven. The base is just fantastic... all the little things going on here and there. Very cool.
Thanks pal. You inspired me to pop a pumpkin on
Red Harvest wrote:Peugeot? A FRENCH car? Aw, I don't even know where to begin... Columbo drove a Peugeot, a 403, in the TV show. Enjoy your new ride.
Harley looks much better than the stock version. Will it be a functional gargoyle?
If they send you the terrain, take it. Have you had any experience with MDF terrain? The Arkham Asylum is an impressive piece.
Sir Viktor looks like a very nice diorama piece. Call me impressed. Would that be Kavalier Viktor?
It's not exactly my dream car, but it works for the family and has surprising power. Never used mdf terrain, any advice? Gargoyle is functional insofar as it's a stable platform. Harley was a lot of fun to do

and maybe something is missing in my vision...but i cant really make out how the actual gargoyle looks like....
This help?
So this has begun! The next task will be to match this to the colours of other sections of the cathedral.
And at Street level, the rest of the Cops are coming :
Not sure what I'm going to build after this. Really determined to get cop crew fully done.
Bases will be simple, with some litter courtesy of blackcatbases
