Well, they come with the kit so you could use them for trades or such.
Yeah, that was the soft plan I really wish I liked the eisenkern stuff... the posability, accessory availability, and other things about them are very nice.. but aesthetically I can't do it. I'm hoping that Mantic and their Enforcers catch up, but we'll just have to see.
I'd say a headswap could do it but.. nah, the guns are too future-ww2 to me as well.

Well, head swap the driver/gun operator, but you could trade the stormers out. Not sure what else Mantic plans for their Enforcers, but they have released the kits for Deadzone so far.
I got the Hanomag and Valkir from Miniatures Market, so it was a discounted price, still a worthy kit at it's full offered price, a bargain at the MM price!
Mantic Enforcers/Peacekeepers give an Iron Man vibe off
I know some have issues witht he Eisenkern look, and the rifles look very cross MG-42/Sturmgehwehr-(insert number) to them. BUT even in a far flung future, bullet tossers may still be more practical manufacture wise than laser weapons for soldiers,
I actually love the Dreamforge stuff although I have no idea what to do with most of it but it's just well designed stuff.
I have three of the APC but I did not realise how big they were in a way I kind of wish they were smaller but they still look amazing and I so need to build them some time soon
Slow down Shas you have way to much on the go and I am finding it hard to keep up but the APC is looking great so far and good colour choice for the interior.

Oh I am using the stormies as veterans/grenadiers Valkir are closer to SoB allies
Well, the exterior of the Hanomag needs primer before a paint job on it. Come to think of it, I have several primer needing vehicles and 30 Valkir troopers that need black primer, I will nee to tape the windows (7) and spray the Hanomag along with the 6x6, the Hammers, etc, so I need to get myself some spray primer for all of that work!
I may grab another Hanomag or 2 next month.
Slow down, I have a huge paint backlog to dent! I must take advantage of the mania when it hits!

man... i am totally envious about your never ending productivity... the hanomag looks amazing... but honestly for that size i would expect a bit of tougher meaner armament...it is indeed way bigger than a landraider...
the sitting crews is something that makes my mouth water... the things i could do with so many sitting legs....
the arnie crew looks very promising... i like your set up... where i see a bit of a stylistic complication is the use of so much wood... many wooden grips here and there... more than i would expect on eighties/ ninties weaponry... it looks as if they raided al capone for all these wooden stocked guns...

Okay, Vik and LDD posted in "Blog View" so I had to go in there to see their replies.
@Vik: The present Hanomag is a supply/command/troop deliver system with a horde raker of a gun set up, I also would have liked to see some of the other Heavy Weapons on it as options for the gantry. Hanomag is a true scale transport, if they made the Landraider closer to true scale, it would have a footprint bigger than a Baneblade kit, and the baneblade would be even bigger! However, they do have some upgrades in the pipeline, the Thor is the Stuka zu Fuss with the rockets, and the Odin/Loki is the one with the tank buster cannon or the howitzer
@LDD, I can see that even though you are not a Fallout man, you appreciate the dweller's jump suit uniforms work.

Well, as for that Vik, the makers of guns these days can also make wood like plastics for the choosy gun purchaser.

Automatically Appended Next Post: Okay, so the best weapon out of the bunch the Hammer came with was from the 1st Hammer, a cleaned up Twinlinked Heavy Flamer, I also manager to place the driver of this one on the left side of the compartment. Here are the images I took before the tires were added, you can see that I drilled holes and placed in tube stock to stabilize the tires as I did with Hammer #2.
[/img] [/img]
Rear door details also shows the added fuel drum for the Heavy Flamer
[/img]
After fixing the warping of the parts, I managed to get it this far
[/img]
Bubbles did weak parts, and will need patching
[/img]
Did have to deal wit the major gap here
[/img]
I decided that this will be left as battle damage, it actually came that way, perhaps when they saw they had a different project part attached, they were less than careful at removing it, less use of snips, looked like it was grabbed and torn
[/img]
This angle leaves no clue of all the clean up and troubles this last Hammer proved to be full of.
[/img]
After the tires and the dozer blade was added, I did an all around of it, (yes, the thing came with 2 different colored resin parts), and I got it together, Hopefully the paint will help make it look better
[/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img]
So, I did give the Flame-Hammer a Zinge fuel drum as it was felt th weapon could use it, and it adds some class to a kit that was sorely in need of offsetting the problems.
I also decided to make it look like the maintenance guys went for using patch plates over the bubble damage as what some tank crews did to add extra armor As I have said, since they removed the images of the clean and good looking resin parts, I ma hoping that they will make a dedicated mold for the kit, use of more flexible/workable resin, and solid tires for the kit, time will tell as I will check back and see if these recommendations are used, or they decide to try and push the model as it currently is, which is as brittle as a cracker for soup, and needs massive work and clean up for it to be assembled
Okay, I should be getting new bases for figures in today, once the other Jovian Hammers' bodies arive, I can have the screaming punk rocker head and the cyber fixed head homes once they arrive, and I will have 40mm bases for them to stand on!

It is why Agent G got broken out for scale again. compared to the mass of the vehicle, yes, the treads seem thin. BUT they are as wide as my beer guzzling agent is!
The Dust SSV helos are great aren't they for many things.
The next idea for Kit to make at Zinge, wide treads!
So, for the larg APC I am making, I have several weapons to choose from, Left to Right: Plasma Cannon, Multi-Las, High Velocity Vanquisher(metal) or the one I made, Twin-linked auto-cannon, Dual Twinlinked Heavy Stubbers, or the Twinliked flame storm cannon?

What do my fellow Dakkanites think? what gun shall the turret have in it?
I like your scratchbuilt vanquisher. Something about the length seems most appropriate for where its being mounted. To me at least. And this is if you want your tank to have a cannon and not something a bit more self-defensive, but yeah I like the cannons.
GrimDork wrote: I like your scratchbuilt vanquisher. Something about the length seems most appropriate for where its being mounted. To me at least. And this is if you want your tank to have a cannon and not something a bit more self-defensive, but yeah I like the cannons.
For the scratch Vanquisher, I will have to carefully make a mounting for it, and I may make a mantlet shield as well so it can pivot, and also seem defended. The turret will be made according to that.
What is the tank's job? If it's meant to assault objectives and unload its troops in the vanquished defenders' place, then the flamer has the most merit. Still thought the cannons looked nicest aesthetically.
Viktor von Domm wrote:i´d do probably a combination of stubbers and flamers...are there side sponsons planned?...
GrimDork wrote:What is the tank's job? If it's meant to assault objectives and unload its troops in the vanquished defenders' place, then the flamer has the most merit. Still thought the cannons looked nicest aesthetically.
I have the heavy flamers to make another weapon mount across from the Heavy BolterI just have to make it look like the driver can pop his hatch, raise it so it can swivel to an open position between the middle and right vision scopes.
The turret weapon can be the auto-cannons in case it encounters some tough opposition
The plasma and multi-laser both look a bit too small to be the main weapon on such a beefy tank.
Both of the Vanquisher guns would work well, aesthetically.
I like the dual auto-cannons.
The Stubbers, with where they have the ammo', I think are more suited to an open-topped vehicle where they can quickly change them when empty. Tanks tend to deal with ammo' internally.
While I don't particularly like the look of the flame storm cannon, it's bulk does fit the tank.
How you are going to use the tank should be the main driving force for how it's armed though.
Okay, it is time for more pics! and the first image shows I am making 'Fender-stowage-space(covered).
[/img]
Now to show the servo sponsons of flamey goodness. Left sponson, which does indeed swivel.
[/img] [/img]
The front has a the double helping of pain with a Heavy Bolter and Heavy Flamer to mow down and BBQ the foes!
[/img]
The right sponson which also swivels and takes a look at the camera!
[/img] [/img] [/img]
I still have to add plates and such to the tread system, the back ramps, some other panels and hatches. The Turret, still looks like the heavy uber flame death cannon, or the auto-cannons.
The Machine guns, those are brass collector boxes actually, not ammo bins exposed to enemy fire. Of course I will need to counter balance the turret as the metal weapons will weigh and tip the thing oddly

LOL! True!
Now I have so many projects on the burners that I will show progress on a few that took a delay as I had been inspired to work on the STALKERS and Vault dwellers, as well as the Rescue and Big Guy Teams
My last order from Brother Vinni came with a freebie for customer loyalty, a B.o.S. I know that chap holding the gun as a club is intended to be ready to hit someone else, but it does slightly look like he's been hitting himself over the head with it.
Although, who's going to argue with someone that, instead of shooting at you, bashes themselves over the head with the gun. Might as well surrender right there.
Okay, now the 25man platoon carrier has 1 x Heavy bolter and 3 x Heavy flamers mounted on it, so for the main turret, I need to see which of the 2 weapons will be a good choice, the long ranged flame cannon? or the longer ranged and also lethal twin-linked auto-cannons?
[/img] [/img]
Hmm both work, the cannons compliment the bolters, but the flamer goes with the other flamers. I guess if you give it the cannons it could theoretically snipe out other troop transports so it's cargo could more easily take an objective... Leaving the flamers as point defense and proof against assault elements that aren't particularly hardened.
I can make a turret pattern that can accommodate either one, it will need ballast at the rear as the weapons are solid metal. There is something about the screeching woosh and burn of the super-flamer, which is also in competition with the enemy transports being hit to the sound of "Pom-pom-pom-pom!"
Lol, give in and make it the superduper ridiculous flame tank then Just make sure the crew have firefighters gear on as the flaming mess they're gonna debark into will be hot hot
I second the mad flamethrower tank of doom idea. Even though I like the way the double stubbers make the turret look like a Panzer I Ausf. A, the rest of the vehicle is too massive to suggest such a thing would only have light weapons. Unless it was solely a transport.
Thanks all, I will have to make putty for ballast in the back segments of the turret before putting on the armor plates around the back and top, so as to balance that massive Heretic Cooker it is quite chunky and has weight to it!!!
Oh and Warboss, those were actually normal scale Auto-Cannons, the MGs I have are dual paired HMGswhich oddly enough have brass catcher boxes on the spent casing ports.

True, Secret Weapon comes close just selling the turrets with the weapons so you get more of the things and surplus weapons to deal with. Gonna make a modified Chimera variant to hold another squad and a turret built for another SWM weapon.

@Stormwall: Rear ramps for the troops it carries, armor plates and other details for the Treads and engine covers, the over the treads sections will have hatches so the crew and passengers can stow extra gear.
@Barzam: Too much turret support would reduce the goal of the thing from carrying a platoon down to a squad. So the miniature servo-flamers on the sides and the one single turret will be it.
I like the idea of the dual-twin-linked stubbers, but the brass catcher seems kind of unnecessary. I mean, with the amount of rounds that thing would put out, what's the point of holding onto it all? Also, they'd get clogged really, really quickly. Sometimes it seems like sculptors don't put enough effort into their designs.

Which is why I would either scratch the rectangle in the middle of them dow some, or paint them pure black to show they ate spitting the brass out rapidly as they fire, kind of like the MG-42 and it's rate of speed firing.

Your current tank is really coming along, nice work on that turret (as usual).
What do you use the Bandai space ship kits for?
Hey Grim, I was busy working the BIG carrier, but I am a big fan of "Starblazers"/"Yamato 2199" and I collect the 1/1000 fleet for my own pleasure of collecting, the little ships are to try out paint schemes such as a reddish dreadnought, a camouflages one in greens in splinter patterns, maybe a blue one.
The curved armor of the turret is the most attention grabbing part as I must hold the plastic in the right way as the glue bonds the plastic sheet to the "ribs" for that shape. My next turret is going to be done more conventionally as faceted armor plates attached to the sections as I am working on a shorter turret to give to the latest project to come after the platoon carrier APC. I am using the SecretWeaponMiniatures Multi-Laser for it.
My drop troop team and command team are out for delivery as I type this reply! I will give "Gunny" the Minigun I have waiting for a holder.

I'm really looking forward to seeing your drop troops. What colors are you planning for them?
Still a bit busy, took a tad short break though as I have assembled so many things in a days go!
Now for the MRM drop, I did assemble the teams. Here goes another interesting bunch of specialized troops
[Img] [/img]
From right to left we see several of the tanker or in this case pressure helmeted troops, 2 drum fed PPsh-400's and one sickle clipped PPsH-400 on the left of them is drop trooper Dallas with the plasma rifle and his pall Stone in the beret of the drop troops
[/img]
Moving from Dallas and Stone, who also likes a good PPsH-400 with a drum to dish out gratuitous ammo volleys, we see their boss, Lt Duvall with his officer load out, and his favorite mirrored sunglasses and cavalry hat, next to him is Radioman Statham, who took a sickle clip PPsH-400, and we start to see Gunnery Sgt Irmey
[/img]
Lt Duvall is almost cut out on the right, Statham is still seen, and we see "Gunny" living you to his name with the mini-Assault Cannon, followed by two more troopers using a drum feed and sickle feed each
[/img]
Parts of the Command team for my Weytani Troopers.
[/img] [/img] [/img] [/img]
Weytani Republic CDF Platoon Command Squad is ready for paint! Left to right, Plasma rifle vet, Standard bearer, Commander, Radio Operator, Medic
[/img] [/img] [/img] [/img]
Back shot to show the radio, and the other side of the medic is packing
[/img]
Of course I will surprise all with a color scheme for the drop troopers, the command team with be in standard Khadrovian color kit, but the drop troops for the most part are wearing specialized gear for the cold of dropping in on targets, yet at the same time, some of the gear looks suspiciously like Weytani gear, except the PPsH-400's which is Khadrovian designed.

Hard, if I had a hobby shop that had a Yamato section I would be hit hard. The next pics might make it harder, I was asked to show a fighter next to the Bomber that comes with the multi-decker "Schderg", it is a HUGE plane compared to the DWG-262 in red, the big blue FWG-97 torpedo bomber. It makes the 50ft fighter/interceptor seem puny compared to it'
s 100ft frame

The Torpedo it launches is also HUGE! a torpedo usually fired from a battleship

Well, i have a MiG-15 for converting to play it in 40k, but yah the FWG-97 is a Big Plane makes it hard for the carrier to carry many of them, and the recon planes

Go to Joshin, they are cheaper there
Those ships look familiar
I figured you would get a kick seeing the Selguts, and the Dessler II on a different screen.
1/1000 Selgut is sold out, waiting for it to be re-stocked at Hobby Search as the price is now lower, just under 85bucks! that will be one big, and costly ship model, but it is about 730mm in length total. Seems a popular model.
I am also planning on some mekakore sized mini Comet Empire ships to come with the 1/1000 scale carrier kit they have for sale
oh.....mate.. you own a platin card already? those "supply" drops must´ve costed a fortune...

chimera is looking good...will it transform into a transport or more a hunter?... the leaned back look you´re currently building kind of makes me think the later...

cheers, vik
Hey Vik, Good to see you my friend!
Actually, I set myself aside food and rent and cable money, I spend other money on medicine, or clothes if needed, but the models and minis are very considered before I make the purchases. Being essentially "forcibly retired" due to my poor health, I am on a limited income, And I have learned it is that I need something to do so as not to go squirrely on folks.
Hence why I also have 9 pounds of plastic sheets for making things I think of as opposed to only buying full kits, I may have to order bits, and I do still have all of these spare weapons from the Secret Weapon 6 x 6 I did not put on it.
Mad Robot are resin indeed, Superglue is mandatory! I had to order bases though as many miniature troops from such places do not have bases to send with the soldier bits.
His site has 3 kinds of builders to make troops customized, the original squad builder makes a 10 man squad using chosen parts and weapons from the different parts he makes, accessories like canteens and packs are separate order.
Command squad builder allowed me to make the 5 man CDF command team for the Weytani Republics' platoon. so radio sets, medic set, banner parts, then pick the weapons and soldier torso/legs/arms/heads Like the 10 man squad builder, he recently added the option for fire teams, so you can make 5man squads so half priced if you only need 5 guys, it is a good deal!
The Chimera chassis is indeed to be a carrier of men, but with my over the treads attachments as seen in the large platoon carrier as well as the light tank.
Once I catch up with some things, I likely will be ordering more vehicle support from Zinge. ( I have suggested to Kit wider track shoe types, of 1.5 times the width of present design he offers to a 2 times the width concept, he is though looking at a big pile of concept to flesh out), but oh how much I can do with the wider treads and as LDD said, the present BIG APC has comparativly thin treads for it's size, Kind of like the thin treads the BMP series has on them.
I am working on a faceted turret for the Multi-laser already for the Chimera chassis, but also have to detail the tread sections of the scratch built APC I started.
well MRM are really good stuff... that as much i could see from his and of course from your thread... and with these platoon builders it is indeed any wonder why someone is still working with cadians... he has so much different versions... the other company i know of with as much diversity in possible army builts is vic...
and indeed... some Landraider fit treads from zinge would be high time...
and working like you with money is essential... to fast one coould one run poor if he doesn´t plan ahead...

MRM Has so many options, and he has the great coats, the jungle troops, the CDF, other types of soldiers it is amazing, add in the packs and accessories, the different rifles, carbines, special weapons and now he offers Heavy Weapons. MRM and Victoria offer good detailed troops, and people do like them a lot. and when considered that as nice as folks find the DKoK squadies they are 80bucks a 10man squad, MRM and Vic are cheaper by far and the quality stands up to FW. But MRM is definitely a good customizer program on his site.
Yes, wide treads so I can and others too, make BIG projects.
Well, was poor before, but no help with the health, now I have the help with my health and my fixed income each month for a time now. But I have built and primered and not primered some models that beg a paint job, and I m also waiting for the Black Widows from Dreamforge, as well as MRM Fallschirmjaegers, so likely as I got the parts for it, I will order another Hanomag from Miniatures Market to put the cannons on.
So some saving will take place, just a limited supply drop and maybe more of my dropper bottle supplies of paints I run through fast., LOL

Thanks! I was using inspiration off the net, images of the BTR-60 for the general shape, although the nose is not an exact reproduction of the BTR-60 nose., and neither is the turret as the Multi-Meltas are bulkier than the 12.7mm MG
Just got the windows taped and sprayed primer on the Keilerkopf/Hanomag from Dreamforge, and it kinda looks like something Bruce Wayne, aka Batman would have in his garage in the bat-cave

Even with them being male, I could use them as S.O.B. like troops, but drop the faith acts and points as I am using some odd new heavy support that a Redemption squad would not field. As for the eyes, I also need to place a smaller lighter blue to almost white spot in all of them to add t that glowy effect!

Hey Vik!
Doing my usual cloth digi-camo style, with the armor getting the double splinter pattern!
Banner will have some black Aquila on both sides, with 3 small red stars on one side and a Big Red Star on the other. The Weytani Republic desires to show it's own dedication to the cause for the Khadrovian Union of United Republics!

Seeing as I always do the more subtle colorings, i.e. non-traditional for a series, I was going to go with painted in colors for the buildings in mainly drab grays and maybe other semi-military like colors with a few small color keying marks, rust spots and chipping, Booty Bumpers will be a bit more colorful, and also, I will make tags of the League guys I know well enough onto Booty Bumper as I know the Colonial gov and the owner will be less inclined to want to remove the tags from a "entertainment" facility
Best "Canvas" is the back of the place, maybe the sides too, this could be quite a heavily tagged building.

Yeah, have to go with the plain, drab and utilitarian concept for the old Cold War Socialistic states of the Warsaw Pact era, fits my theme well.
Oh they call that one with the 3-point landing Sgt Howlett for Deadzone. He does look a mix of Iron Man and Wolverine with the red/gold paint of his armor. He arrives via UPS with the newer Enforcer pack as well as the Hulk-buster looking peacekeepers, plus the book that also covers the Asterians and Forgefathers arriving. Thanks guys! the basic building base color is on, there are other colors that will be added to the buildings before I get tot he Tagging and proprietary alterations, after all, it is not just the bright sign that draws them in!
As for the camo, the other Valkir need theirs added, and then the darker over lay can be put inside each camo blotch. Like my Stormtroopers
Okay, I fell asleep, and the supply drop from Miniature Market of which I took advantage of their sales, and special codes and my points to keep costs low, arrived and was waiting for me when I awoke. Cats were attempting to get inside the shipping container as they like little plasticy things to play with! I un-boxed, all was there, MM is a great source for minis and such especially stateside as the order qualified for free UPS shipping.
So, here we have N32-19 a "not Marbo" kind of guy!
[/img]
Sgt Howlett, a "Not Iron Man" kind of guy
[/img]
The "Peacekeeper" they are kinda Termy sized with their 40mm bases as well. felt like I was opening a video case the pack was like that. Optional bits as well. 2 heads have a visor like area instead of the 2 eye lenses, the other option has the face plate up exposing the face of the Enforcer.
[/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img]
The regular Enforcer troopers with interesting new parts, and a standing figure I think is the Medical officer. My I.C.E. Sanction forces just grew, These guys also came in a cassette or disc style box
[/img] [/img] [/img] [/img]
Just in case folks think I am merely reposing the old Keilerkopf box, I have new pic showing the parts and manual in a way i did not do so last kit. This is the Keilerkopf I put the cannons on in place of the HMGs [/img] [/img]
And something to read

All in all, not to bad a drop for the I.C.E. Sanction troops plus the APC which in a good day I will spray primer the outer hull parts
Nice drop! Looking forward to your work on the enforcer dudes. If the cassette cases are the thinner variety (closer to an inch than an inch and a half) you can use them with the included foam as figure cases. They work pretty well for holding restic and plastic minis in place.
no one would dare accuse you of false pics....well...not twice at least... your forces command respect^^
i wonder if one could persuade players to use these new DZ minis as some kind of hardened and not hoity toity tau...some tau that would kick bum in CC...their style could be something they wou,d use...

actually i think with some small fixes for details the washed look on them is a very effective camo... wouldn´t you agree?
the e-knuckleduster is a very unique idea... that i haven´t seen on the models at all... one small nitpick here for me is the occudroid... the stem looks way too thick... can you do some greystuffing or other to make this look better? some twisted and threaded wire maybe? later on you could paint it like energy beams?

Yeah that stem needs to be painted as a energy support projected from the droid.
The knuckleduster style fists is very nice, and a difference from 40k Over sized fists Reminded me of Mark Hamill in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back with SM Mega fists of large size!
Amazing how your hobby keeps you sane but drives me mental when I do it
I do see Viks point you could probably go thinner with the support and still get the desired effect, but I do see your point once painted it might reflect a different perspective.

Yeah, well, when one is forced by health to early retirement and was used to being busy all day long yet can't do so anymore, the hobby saves the day and mind!
As for the support, maybe a paperclip wire straightened our to do it, or shift it to a clear flight stand. Wire seems more likely as it is so tiny a droid.
Enjoy the movie fest !
Viktor von Domm wrote:OMG... that actually hurt the eyes
All the old day glow colors in that image, also Mark Hamill has not aged so well.
As the Captains of the I.C.E. Sanction forces are selected from the most outstanding, and get the heavier "Paladin" class battle suits, the standard troops are in the "Knight" armor, Scouts are in the "Ranger" kit outfits, so are the seasoned veteran I.C.E. Troops selected for the Paladin force of all heavy powered armor troops, the commanders so far in the past had the Mk-I armor with the large single thrust pack for mobility added on, the Paladins in the new Mk-II suits use an arrangement more akin to the knights with a dual booster pack mounted on their backs, Armed with high volume fire stormer-rifles as potent as the usual rifles the knights use, plus they make use of the E-Fist so that they always have the ability to bring down armored vehicles and other large targets, or they have the special assault shield, which can jolt a target in close combat. One will carry a heavier support weapon.
[/img] [/img] [/img]
I will "wash" them for more detail exposure but those 3 pics are to fill the time gap.
it is a horror story actually how much my youth icons have aged... hamill, fischer...and even harrison look so sunken and shrivelled...i must say...i recently saw james earl jones in an episode of big bang theory and he is by far the best conserved of the lot...
i would actually opt for a clear flight stand... if the stands are not currently available ...then a q-tip rod would be of help?...often they come in the clear variety...
i think actually opposed to the planned scheme to match your army you should do a scheme that would loosly hint at operation house party of the iron man 3 movie...that was a balst...and the DZ models really have that iron man theme^^

The clear base is quite a larg stand, even at the tip, so wore may be better as a swap out. The tip of the clear stand is thicker than the poly stand.

Metallic blue, eh? Interesting. I like the red on not-Wolverine. Not so keen on the addition of the gold though. I think when I get to mine, maybe I'll do him up in red and black.

Oh there are parts I am going to make black, trust me. They all get some black on them.
I went a bit IronMan/Wolverine, now I have to also paint the blue and white for the power claws.

Great work all round, and many cracking models. Good stuff.
Hey Cam!
I took advantage of low, low prices at Miniature Market that Theo told us about. I still have so many minis to finish!
Glad that you like the work. Once these guys are out of my system, I can finish the Valkir and Mad robot guys
I also must get to work on Kielerkopf-Kannone
Okay, so I got inspired, I have had this spare turret from the "starfish" carrier, and it is the right size to be a servo-turret, i.e. unmanned and remote directed by the commander inside the Not 'chimera" I am working on It means mutilation of a weapon to make it work inside the confines of the thing
Turret and cannon barrels
[/img]
I then placed a piece of plasti-card on top of the chassis so the turret may sit and give an approximation of how it would work out, I am likely as ever to place it off center, but it can be better judged this way.
[/img] [/img] [/img]
Automatically Appended Next Post: So, work snapped out on the turret, superglue and pins of course
[/img] [/img] [/img] [/img]
Collar put in for a smaller tube that will act as the turret hold ring etc.

Now how it will look compared to the vehicle
[/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img]
Looking good there.. I really like the form the body of the tank is taking on!
Nice looking turret too... IMHO it should be offset to one side... I think it would be a cool aesthetic! plus then it leaves some space for another hatch perhaps or commanders cupola?!
Maybe even mounted on the front section above the driver might look good... I know that defeats the purpose of the drivers area.... but you could say the internal layout is different....
the work on your chimera looks very promising... i am a bit puzzled where the leftover turret is from,as i am not that firm with all your builts... (vast amount of...)
but i like how you added the sights and the humpback conversion is very sound!
iron wolvie looks stunning... and you captured the iron man scheme very good with that mini... i have to say...it is pretty late that you discovered red as a colour for a comumnist army...all that grey, black and blueish grey.... now you´re cooking with a lil bit more than just hot water... but then...red is always my primary color for minis it seems^^

Just my 2cents....
Looks cool though mate!
Cant wait to see more.....
As can be seen in the last pics, I had to build a special section for it to be off-set tot he right, I still have a forwards area that will be for the commander to be right behind the driver, his very own hatch as the driver can use the hatch that makes the driver viewblock (Chimera uses a T-34 style arrangement for the driver.). But in case of trouble driver could escape the same way as the commander as I am making the set up.

Thanks Vik! I am making sloped armor over the fenders based on actually a never made German light tank the E-10 concept tank which got scuttled due to the war ending too soon for the crazy 10ton light turretless machine. I will add a piece of plastic for the "pop-up las rifle" ports that I will also put vision blocks on the flat top of the machine. The turret is a spare from the "starfish like carrier of the Gamilon fleet i bought

As for Reds like the iron-Wolverine, heroes get to have such bright colors well his mates are the Ice blue steel.

That chimera looks nice, I like the geometry of the armour you've added, nice APC .
That's a cool looking ruler, I just use a bog standard steel rule, I've yet to cut myself too badly from a knife slipping, but I might look into picking up something like that at some point.

LOL! the "Starfish" is no station, it is a High-Speed-Carrier for fighter bombers,
I have other plates and details to add, then the mighty rivets will be added!
It was a major good investment as it makes my cuts near perfect now!

THank you OMN! I wanted to make a new thing from an established and older model. Just the track sections and hull from Hoard-O-Bitz
It works so well, and with the depression groove, I can press hard to keep things in place.
I got mine via Amazon
GrimDork wrote:It is a neat ruler. Also a neat chimera. Good work.
Yeah, I am liking it, and it may help me cut hab units and such.
Thanks, I will be pleased with the end results now.
New work update pics everyone! I am still needing to do more additions, but the progress pics will show how much further along the beefed up Chimera is shaping up
Rear fender stowage hatches added [/img]
Gunport hatches, episcope potectors, and other details as well shown here [/img] [/img] [/img]
The port covers slip down into a recess at the end of which the rifles can be slid out and fired, the two hatches forwards are stow bins recessed into the sloped armor. [/img] [/img]
The front end shows the commander's hatch which has an episcope while solid armor is i front. [/img] [/img]
New shot of front that let's one know more was added to the new APC [/img] [/img]
The addition of a filter vent, double piece top hatch and hand grips to the stowage hatches as well as a 30liter can has been added [/img] [/img] [/img]
The right side also has a 30liter can, this allows me to do one in a fuel only color and a water only or do both in water cans, hand grips can be seen on the right side stowage hatch. [/img]
speaking of right side stowage, the two are normal stowage, the larger forward one is for the tools [/img] [/img]
Rear shot showing hand grips added but also a pad next to the ramp. Also the rear has brake lights, as well as turn signals [/img] [/img]
Now chop sprue for episcope vision blocks and then to the rivets for the new plastic sheets.
after a certain stage in your builds you get really fast paced... the new details look very business like! what i currently not understand... probably due to speech impediment, is the broken circles ?... are these for the lasgun to poke throough?

The idea is that the long strips are drop down panels, the end near the viewing blocks drops and allows the lasguns to pop out and shoot, and when not in use they pull the rifles out, and the panel pops back up. [/img]

TY, I was thinking more weapon options may make the Kielerkopf more interesting and fun! The ammo belts are from Zinge Industries.
I had to do what I could the turret freed up space to make the upper deck as it was, had I gone with the original larger turret, the front and deck would have been expanded to handle the beast!
I get these manic moods where I can't stop until the concept comes out and shows the shape my head had envisioned.
So, it seems working on the Hanomag as separate modules will be the way to go for any more of them (even at MM prices they are not cheap, and they are big, so I will need Battlefoam pack just for a collection of them. Heck I may have to buy a BIG roll case as they are beefy machines, plus the space STuG's when they make the things. For future hanomags I need to order more "Tusk Ivory" as that is my main color for the interior had to finish some gaps with a home mix that came off more yellow mustard like.
Main floor in initial coat as I had to paint this in layers as it is one of those colors that lets stuff show in the 1st coat
[/img]
Troop benches also initial coat
[/img]
Crew chairs
[/img]
Platforms that fold down for those using hatches to stand upon
[/img]
Dashboard/console
[/img] [/img]
Hull sides and stowage compartments
[/img]
Rear ramp
[/img]
After more licks of paint, I assembled the parts that could be so, ( need to paint the crew and put them in place as well as finish the dash
Main hull floor and benches all set together.
[/img] [/img]
Ceiling and hatches
[/img] [/img] [/img]
Hull sides with the dual paints as I ran out, had to approximate, I may try another batch mix and use less yellow
[/img]
Crew chairs and doors
[/img]
Dash, much lighter blue and blue+white will ba added and buttons in red and green and yellow, and I will add blue to the control syicks and steering wheel as glow
[/img] [/img]
Crew primed and ready for their colors so I can plant them in the Hanomag!
[/img]
After mixing a sand medium with pure white and yellow in controlled manner, I came closer to the Tusk Ivory and there will be no yellow mustard striping after all!
[/img]
So let me know hoiw you guys are liking the 2nd hanny

i see now...protected viewports...and even made from sprue...am i right?
and the added zinge belts on that turret make it look ace!
Yep! and I had to finish the interior parts before assembling the rest of the components.

Ah, so Keilerfopf means Hogshead? so used to the mantlet using the term schweinkopf as on some of the German Tank destroyers like the STuG and Jagd-Panther
Yes, protection for the vision blocks! Had to use the right kind of sprue as well.!

Now for the completed parts, starting with the console

Yep, and the "SowKopf" was the smaller looking cannon mantlets.
TY the console is all hand painted, one day I may find some decals for controls, but I felt futuristic LED readouts and LCD displays fit better than analog

Thanks, Mark, the maker of Dreamforge looked carefully at the WW2 Hanomags of the German army to get the basic shape, but made the design all wheels, and no track sections, making assembly a tad easier than interleaved road wheels and track shoes.
The original model is a HMG set as a quad machine gun. I wasnted something with a bit more kick for dealing with heavier than infantry threats, so I ordered some cannons from Hoard O' Bitz and put them in place, had some left over ammo belts from Zinge and voila`

Some washes do that Vik, but just in case, I have 2 small cans of spray on sealer just to be safe. Very stinky stuff though, so I must do it on a good day outside.
As can be seen here the wheels do not need glue as the screws hold parts together, although in this Hanomag's case, the plastic is a bit over molded, and tight, so they do not roll as easily in the rear as the first hanny does.
[/img] [/img]
The one case I used glue on the wheels is to set the piece that caps the screws, and is the roll the wheel device as the engines that move the wheels are electrical motors powered by the reactor that sits in the classical engine area under the hood
[/img] [/img]
The beast assembled! 30liter can is Zinge made, after all, the crew and soldiers must have water to drink! the ammo crates or food rations crates, based on how they are painted and marked, are Dreamforge, so git well

Sweet vehicles.
Oh not at all, when i black primered the first one, I said it also looked like something Batman may make, but it is a APC for a squad of troops, and also per Dreamforge concept is a mobile recharge base from the reactor it is powered by.
there are parts that do sort of look like parts the cars that were steam or other powered in FMA had with the cannisters and pipes
Finished rear of the Hanomag, although a bit shadowy

smoke dis charger on tail lights
[/img]
Left tail lights/smoke dis-chargers, the Germanic shield symbol, the rear ramp shows a shooting port, and open-able view spot as well as the cable hook

Eagle shield also hands that touch

Forced perspective as it is behind the unpainted one, plus the glossiness of the plastic may be another factor making light expand it artificially
for interior or actually in general taking pics i often thought about getting me a diagnosis cam... the ones mechanics use for instance...
Yeah the Keilerkopf are big beasts!
I would have to look at the cost for such a camera system.
Now to show it was just forced perspective, I took some pics of both Hanomags together for comparison
front, headlights are same height, only height difference is seen with the ammo feeders
[/img]
As can been seen, doors and hatches match, as do the cooling grills

Yes, Mark, the maker of Dreamforge stuff got hit with a resounding vote to include the full armor looking front plate on my 1st Keilerkopf, as well as that grill effect plate. It also comes with 3 different shields, I just like to make it look Imperialistic with the Adler-Schild(?)
, I just like to make it look Imperialistic with the Adler-Schild(?)

Not wanting to highjack..... but a Scud like Launcher.... I had a similar idea a while back that nevr saw the light of day.. but how about something like a CRASSUSS front cabin with a large launch pad / missile bed mounted? Kind of like the PRAETOR.....

Thank you Biff! camo is still in early stages on all my vehicles. Hanomag by Dreamforge is awesome.
Now for the large landship style APC, the Las-cannon armed version

The Plasma cannon armed model

and magos... that was a good idea... i think this will be indeed my next project!
Yeah the older beast has that effect.
Jehan-reznor wrote:Nice liking the splinter camo
I do like to work in different forms of camo.
Oh and now I have the parts I need for my Co-ed Panzerjeager group. I am figuring a SAW and 2 Panzerknacker rifles per 10 person squad. the rest with rifles and carbines. and make the squad leaders pack plain carbines
[/img]
Feldwebel Koeppler he has the other helmet style, a drum magazine, grenades for his Heckler&Ruger HR-96 carbine with the underslung Heckler M-10 grenade launcher
[/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img]
Feldwebel Hilde Marie Blucher is sporting grenades for the M-10 under her Schmeiser MP-120 Machine Pistol, I may add another helmet to her.
[/img] [/img] [/img] [/img]
Viktor von Domm wrote: They both look basically the same bodystructure...or am I in the wrong here?
Oh the legs are different, the men have some added plates on their thigh armor, the ladies have a more curved and smoother armor on their legs, the backsides are different as well, but here are the torsos with nothing added to see the differences, Male on the Left, Female to the Right. Note the straigher sides of the male and the plate chest/stomach area? also the female torsos section has a pinch in look of a female waist/hip I have made the arms mix work, as well as head mixes [/img]
I also see the undersuit of a stretchy ballistic material similar to that seen in Starship Troopers: Invasion As depicted w/o the full armor over it
And then armor over the ballistic glove suit
So the Dreamforge ladies and gents have a similar armor set up and vibe
Viktor von Domm wrote: oh... now that i see the fixed pics....i think i never saw that movie...
but i see now what you mean...
Yes, the Ballistic underglove has the added armor pads, and allows the armor to attach, while it may stop many calibres of bullets, the Bugs, like the Tyranids in 40k use claws that are razor sharp at low velocity, so the suits can't stop such blade attacks, only high velocity attacks. Then they have the armored plates/helmets/greaves, etc. The big differences are the thighs and shoulder guards on the females as I am sure some women are built who could fit the male breast/back plates
Now i did manage to go primer the Panzerjeagers, first in black is Koeppler's squad, some of the male soldiers wear the Panzerjeager mask/helm other wear the stormtrooper variant. [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img]
Then I have Blucher's squad. [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img]
Oh they will get their camo, last team is 2 men and 4 women, all using male torso and shoulder armor. I get the Storm Trooper codex tomorrow via Fed Ex, that will help field Eisenkern like they are a stormy army for 40k wise play

Viktor von Domm wrote:that kneeling damsel... what is she wielding...? looks like a luger?
Iused the parts from the command sprue I have left over, it has the long barrel of a luger, but looking closely at the tiny thing, it seems a hybrid Luger-Walther, so L&W-39 I shall call it.
Jehan-reznor wrote:Have my Close combat and Heavy support Valkir in order, looking forward to seeing them painted
Viktor von Domm wrote: i always marvel at the great coverage of your colours... and that on black primer...
I still have yet to go back over the other 2 squads, I see spots the black is bleeding through, but is okay, I got good quality paints from Reaper.
My Skitarii and Stormies arrived with the stormtrooper book. Just is good for a 40k player who wants to know how the Eisenkern would be worked, I figure as a stormy army, the SAW is merely the volley gun. the anti-tank weapons are plasma based, or could be a melta weapon.
But I can make a squad of troops made from all 5 members of the Alliance, as well as a 10 man ship-guards unit for the Trade Worlds Cartel in my recent background fluff in the fluff section of Dakka
Well, like I said, I got a drop on my porch, the stormy book and a box of these guys to act as "The Alliance" operatives.
[/img]
Big booklet of construction
[/img]
I am going to have a ton of heads and other bits left from this 2 sprue kit!

stands for just the 5 men
[/img]
"I am the leader!" says the squad's sgt. (He wanted to be a Spehs Muhreen)
[/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img]
To further worsen his feelings of inadequacy, this Eisenkern woman, on a shorter height base is taller than him, her eyes are just where the top of his helmet would be(not the spike, but the main helmet)

We all often give GW a bit of grief, but appart from the terrible scale issues, they do give you a fair kit, and all said and done they are a nice model. It's a given it is truly over priced etc as well.
Looking forward to the skits in whatever scheme you choose.

Yep, I primered the legs so I can make the pants colored as well as work on the lower legs and feet.I will also do something about the long coats before putting them on. I may go simple inside.
I can use the Mad robot stuff to make L.I.W. and F.L.P. troops. the Alliance and T.W.C I needed the specific looks the GW minis afforded me.

Blucher's squad got their base green added

...er lost me there with all the abbreviations...
would love to see a character mix between a skitarii and a scion...
In my recent fluff, L.I.W stands for the League of Independent Worlds, F.L.P= is the Federation of Liberated Planets, T.A. = The Alliance(scions), and T.W.C. is Trade Worlds Cartel (Skitarii) I can use certain bits to make a squad of F.L.P. troopers as well as L.I.W. troopers
Well, the way they are made, the best I can do for that is to place a head of Scions onto the torso of a Skitarii, it would show they are not fully Adeptus Mechanicus owned, but the gear is adeptus mechanicus made/sold T.W.C. is quite wealthy as they neutrally handle shipping all over the sector!.
Yep head swap alone, the arms and such of scions are more akin to space marine bulk, the skitarii are rather near Eldarish in scale comparison!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Okay the Skitarii are a new way to deal with making soldiers, as the pics will show, paint in between assembly is needed. The legs used a aged bone base with brown wash, next will be the dry brush of that color again highlit with leather white.
[/img] [/img]
Their coats re lined red, and that will be the one homage to the AM they will show.
[/img]
Okay my Skits aka "Shipment Gardians" are shaping up along interesting lines. I wonder how the strider and quadripedal tank will look in these colors? but I am still doing work on these guys so I have not glued the torsos to the legs yet.
[/img] [/img]
Coat leathers
[/img] [/img]
Next to the bulkier Stormies
[/img] [/img]
Stormies alone
[/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img]
That is the progress so far on those guys. I need to get many troops done, then the vehicles. It is always keeping me busy!
seeing them next to each other it s now obvious that there is next to no conversion potential for these two troop themes...
if you paint in these stages... is plastic glue for the connection still possible ?
Shiny indeed!
Yeah, so at best maybe the beret head of the body, but well, it just did not fit the theme. I wanted to keep the faceless guardians theme, this way they never have any expression betray them if they approve of the cargo they transport or not, never offend their customers sort of thing by hiding the faces of the employees is the way the Trade Worlds Cartel maintains it's air of neutrality in the sector. also they are still well set to fight even my Khadrovians if need be.
So, if there was paint on a connection surface, I used my x-acto to scrape it clean for gluing.
Here we got, all assembled and paint work continues, the green they wear is an odd 1950's green (No flash)
[/img] [/img]
With the flash on. I am thinking gray air cables, I will do the pack cables and dials and such make it more like the things have dials and buttons/levers. Face plates I think will get a similar approach to the legs, a "burnt metal" aka Tin Bitz with coppery over brush for that brass feel , maybe a steel for the breather valves?
[/img] [/img] [/img] [/img]
Close ups
[/img] [/img] [/img]
So, what do folks feel about that alternative color pattern as these are equipped like Skitarii but are Cargo Shipment Guradians.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Well, many hours later, I have the Shipment Guards all set as my new Trade Worlds Cartel, force.

Backs
[/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img]
So I think I can say these guys are tabletop ready for a fight. some touch ups and wash next, but I am not going for winning any awards, just looking good from across the table.
i think it looks like you did an excellent job on detailing the troops, but i am a bit biased against the muted colours on the outside surfaces... the "green" with that faded red just looks too sleepwalking to me... i think it needs a bit of a stronger hue... i am with you with a green and red....that always looks good... but i think they currently look way not finished... but that is purely based on the hues...not on the amount of work put in already...
