According to my research, which has also been led up by the black adder, warlord titans should stand at 24" not counting the barrels of the shoulder TLD's. The proportions of the arms and legs are maintained at this height to be aesthetically pleasing standing next to smaller titans., as well UAC, you should check out Blackadders thread....
Vitruvian XVII wrote:Hmmm, i dunno. Im of the opinion that using the epic models to scale titans doesnt work. But ymmvofc.
I based my design and height off the art in the apoc book. I overshot height by a few inches though, after adding the shoulders.
@tda: Thats gorgeous! The shading is so great.
I agree whole heartedly. The Epic titans are so very much the same-ish height. However, the fluff and pics have all shown that the heights aren't really that varied, save for the emperator, of course, which towers over the others....
And, actually after checking my main sources, I realize that 28" is what has been agreed upon amongst us Titan Forges:
It amazes me how everyone immediately assumes that the titans are part of a SM force...They are not, they are ALL 100% of the time under the control of the AdMech, never ever ever part of a Space Marine force.
Automatically Appended Next Post: ...forgive me..I'm just sick of marines.
Lols Dave, I've never said otherwise... as I said before, I'm wanting to do my version of the "Dies Irae" from storm of iron, but pre heresy from the Legio Mortis.
I don't have my tape measure to hand but I think, 700mm is roughly 28" so my scale isn't far off ^_^
But also, I'm only scaling up the proportions, I'm not basing the entire build from the epic variant. largely because the Epic version is Lucius... I'm doing a Mars pattern. I must stress that using the Epic version is not to maintain scale between both the titan and the 40k range. It is solely to scale up the proportions.

A slight oversight on my part... The Dies Irae is an emperor class titan...
No that doesn't mean I'll be building one, I'm sticking to Warlord class lols.
Yeah, smurf titans make me cringe. The fluff for admech and the way different adepta support each other is awesomely cool. why would you want to ignore that!
Titans rarely get to go out and play because the Ad-Mechs are so afraid they will be destroyed or lost forever! And though they may support Marines from time to time, it is the Imperial Guard they support more!
Automatically Appended Next Post: That is much better, and I have the books
And hey, the fact that they are the usual first to deal with Nids and other things wearing 5+ armor and a flashlight en massse as they do is something.
(We can forget what cruddace did to the nids) I used to have fun fights facing the previous codex nids as they were a real challenge racing so fast en masse across the table.
I love SM's, but the whole system is out of whack with its background. 10 marines are supposed to do that of what 50 does in game. tis rather a poor representation tbh :(
Trust me, I try to forget cruddace on a regular basis... but it's what I can only imagine having crabs is like. A lingering itch that no amount of scratching will get rid of *shudders*

I suppose it depends on what fluff you like to read. I read every Guard novel made, so I guess I see it from the little guy's perspective. MILLIONS of little guys keep the IOM going.
dsteingass wrote:I suppose it depends on what fluff you like to read. I read every Guard novel made, so I guess I see it from the little guy's perspective. MILLIONS of little guys keep the IOM going.
You must also have read the Commissar Cain novels as well? Awesome stuff!
True, I like that perspective to, but in the end guard serve as a sheild to get bashed into submission until the big guns arrive. they always seem like a delay tactic until reinforcements turn up.
and tbh, guard are the only race in 40k that have something representational within the rules. everything else doesnt seem to represent its fluff imo.
..From your purely subjective viewpoint perhaps Childe, but that is not the case, especially not in the Sabbat Worlds Crusade fluff anyways...
The Grimdark is plenty big enough for everyone's stories though...that is really the core of it's apeal IMHO.
Automatically Appended Next Post: ..In the Sabbat Worlds Crusade, Billions of organized Guard and Navy on both sides determine where those battle lines are moved, and they are all under the control of a regular Lord General.
true, I never did read the GG books, I just couldn't get into them. tbh I think I over simplify the fluff a tad when I'm discussing if on dakka, I love guard and I love their organisation, dafting from new worlds, and even the sub-humans elements.
For me though my heart lies with the Space marines, the whole genetic alteration process and additional organs is a fantastic piece of sci-fi imo. I just don't like the SM's "always save the day" side of the fluff. I like the fact they are small tactical forces used as blunt force to smash their enemies morale, just wish rules wise they were better represented tbh. FNP or extra wounds would do, for a price increase of course. anything to give them battle longevity they have in the fluff.
Yeah thats true Dave But you know what I mean. their rules hardly fit their very nature let alone they can lose a limb and still not die in battle field conditions. gah stupid GW...

I can only agree that people painting titans in space marine colours are to be executed for their blasphemous acts to the great omnissiah! I've had many headaches looking at beautifully painted titans that match the space marines standing along them instead of giving them a proper legion scheme...
and villains... never forgett them... if you want a bad ass hero... you need an even bigger and badder villain... so that the hero may fall and gets the chance to stand up tall again and beat the snotty wits out of the villain...
HAHA Yep! I have all of them Star Wars, Batman, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, and now POTC! The gameplay is identical in all the games, but they are great fun and full of replayability
i only ever played lego star wars and it didn´t suit me... for me it was boring... and even now our childrens room is littered with SW lego i couldn´t cope back then with the cuteness of the look... maybe i should retry...^^
I've only ever played Lego Indiana Jones. After the first few levels it basically broke down to which player could kill the other in the most interesting way, then who would walk away from it first.

this is the most unrediculous thing you've said... because it is completly TRUE!
Completely unrelated...I bought a yard dremel today!!
Although I only got the hedge trimmer and weed whacker attachments!
I Have tall privacy bushes all around the house, and I knocked them ALL out in 1.5 hrs and only 1 tank of gas!!
It used to take me an entire day to do that work!!
^ looks like a nice peice of yard kit.. my favorite one we had in PA (which had to be sold before the move) was our riding mower, we had enough property to fit many of these tiny CA houses on, so that mower was fun and efficiant

I have heard so many tales of Ft Lost... mostly profanity laden rants about it, but still... makes me wonder.

I know I'm a bit late, but after Catpirate counting, Ft. Lost in the Woods, ranting (I was also there for Basic and AIT, 82B at the time, it was Construction Surveying, they don't have it anymore, it was merged with other things and re-named), and other norman nonsense, I want to comment on the Yard Dremell!
I too have one, it's a different brand, but I have the weed eater, leaf blower and chainsaw attachment! The Chain saw is awesome! Put an extender onit, and you have a chainsaw with a 8 foot reach! Truely an Eviserator!
of course its not ... ok now that reminds me of one of my freinds who tries to convince us that kidnapping is suprise adoption... and i thought i was odd/dumb!
I could show you a point, but it'd be a pointless point, and who wants a point that doesnt point to the point of its purpose, because that just wouldnt be the point now would it?
dsteingass wrote:The detail is ok...but OMG... LOOK at the horrible fit!!

How the hell am I going to be able to write an honest review??
Is the fit any better if you assemble it as two "L" sub assemblies first? (having flashbacks to my RT era Predator using the Old Skool Rhino hull... order of assembly was everything with that thing.)
that fit sucks worse then.... a vacume! well im sure you'll have some fun ahead of you, i assume you plan this for a 40k diarama?? or is it for something else??
I think that contacting the company is the first polite thing you should do. The second would be to write the review honestly including the companies response regarding the fethed up nature of the model......
what i would do is dremel up the edges to a close fit and use either filler,GS,or liquid GS to fix it up.. not much else you can do besides contacting the company like max said.
Just keep throwing new modules onto it to try to keep it together and then hope when it crashes it burns down to a small enough size first so as not to kill too many people.
tbh, the instructions make sense to me, but... regardless of the face you need to trim a hefty chunk of plastic off of the corners, the kit is still ill fitting...
also I wouldnt see a kit buying a diorama set, so I doubt that'd be a problem.
good luck with keeping what little sanity you have left Dave
meh...I sent an email to the IMPS-USA coordinator dood with my ethical dillemma. I will wait until I get his reply to see what makes sense. I don't want to piss off the companies who give the IPMS free kits for review. Don't really want to bite the hand that feeds ya.
Oddly, this is the same problem video game review sites have...and is a leading problem in all industries. People standing up for the consumer can't stand up to the companies, because they get blacklisted by said companies.
That's awful, man! I wonder if you got a miscast, or if the company just has no quality control? If all of their kits go out like that you have to wonder how they end up with repeat customers...
I feel for your dilemma though - a scathing review wouldn't go down too well with the manufacturers, or ultimately the IMPS guys :/ I'm sure you'll be able to salvage it for something useful anyway. Was this a kit you picked out? Or do the IMPS guys choose stuff for you? It sound like a really fun group!
Well it's a vacu-formed kit...I don't think those can be miscast.
We get spreadsheets with all the available kits names, and we pick from that spreadsheet- you can't really get much more info from google, especially when it is a new kit and not technically released yet. It is a bit of a gamble.

Yes, and that's to force you to by various sets until you can get the entire Fellowship. If they do release a Fellowship set it will be in the last wave, and most people will have succumbed and bought them the hard (and expensive) way.

Mixed feelings on my part: I'm trying to assemble a Necron army before the annual June price increase, and having these come out now is not helping. But these will probably be available longer at the present prices than the GW stuff will. A Monolith at $66 US and Triarch Stalkers at $47! Yeesh! [Although no one is forcing me to buy GW product ... I've simply failed my saving throw against shiny!]

but, I'm not jealous about that Diorama... its gak at its worst... when all else fails, napalm it!!!
yeah thats what I figured, and no offence to Black when I say this, but even Black with his attention to detail and time span in which he creats things would have built one from scratch quicker!!! Although his would be infintessimally better IMO!!!
the window frames, wooden shutters and iron railings have definitely got some mileage in them... not too sure about the door and the slotted shutters though
Automatically Appended Next Post: I think I'm just going to call it finished- give it a black primer and a quick paintjob tomorrow and be done with it.
Now that it is a good idea for window frames, thats a keeper have to say it don't look to bad now although I don't think it worth the hassle of the kit
You have done a fantastic job getting it to look good. I would say that if the price wasn't too high I might have bought that for the accessories sprue alone, though, and as for the slotted blinds, I bet they would make excellent vents for some grimdark/steampunk walker or other......
I really hate thornbushes. I trimmed the bushes for the neighbor (so it was nice and square with my side), in return he offered to haul the brushpile to the city compost facility with his pickup and trailer, so then I went with him to help unload it all. My arms are totally scratched up, and I'm exhausted.
i bet you are exhausted and look as if you tackled a tiger... it is to be expected... yep...thornbushes... natures way of making barbed wire... try to get rid of some blackberry bushes... they ruined my military boots even...
Cutting them down was the fun part...moving all the crap...not so much. I've been trimming and cutting for 4 days now! ..And I still need to clean the gutters out, rake, and mow in the back yard...perhaps not today
yes...the winter was mild temperature wise, but it was soooo wet that everything finally dried up...and yes it was bugging me since I let it go last fall, and it all got too overgrown.
The harder you use this beast, the better she runs!
The next best thing to a daisy-cutter bomb!
THis is what is left of the pile, after we already hauled 1 trailer-load
and you can see the other neighbor's side of the bushes, which I want to cut but have yet to ask her permission
The lawn is more a groundcovering/weed known as Creeping Charlie than actual turf. It has pretty purple flowers, and less grass means less mowing
That was just before I put them away...good tools!
Those stumps will be sprouting new shoots by fall...you can't kill those damn things! The pole has a metal guy wire, and I can't trim around the wire without fear of ruining my cutter bar...so I sawed them down.
What I don't get abour th e diorama is the amount of...foundation? Something that you had to fill in on the base. Looks like slots to put more walls...but there are no more walls. I'm confused.
hmmm.... overgrown ruin is not my thing... how do you want to do vegetation?
what i think would look cool is nuclear wasteland... bombed into oblivion cityscape...with whatever is still left of the city... maybe add some smashed bins... and so on... rather dull and brownish greyish all in all....
Couldn't the overgrown look work with the Fallout stuff anyway? There was Harold in the third one (know he was in earlier ones, but the events of third leading to more plant growth) and a few places seemed to show some growth anyway. Then there was Vault 22 as well.
Which reminds me that grass flock at a small enough scale is great for moss at 40k's scale.

well the way dave modeled his guys where with more of the iconic nuclear waste style, compared to the plants that are in FO
Vault 22 was a little bit creepy - it was aaaages before anything attacked you, and there were all those references to the plants...
Did anyone find the Dunhill building?
I would have voted FO style, but if you're saving a better kit for that, overgrown sounds good too! You could always try out some snow effects if you want something challenging and new...
But did you know you're supposed to have more than one option when you hold a vote?
well... as i never saw some vegetations stuff done by dave i couln´t imagine how he might have done that... so dave... what materials do you have up your sleave to get that overgrwon ruin schtick going?
and i too think that this is better used in a general 40k scheme than a fallout scheme as the walls look wrong to me... beside...cobblestone in FO ? never did i saw this...
Dang! I take a long weekend, and all Heck breaks loose! I'm sorry you had to go through all of that with the kit Dave, but you are a better man now for it.
So jealous of the Eviserator/Melta attachments! Your machine sounds like it could kick my machine's butt! I need the cyclone blower attachment though, I have the wimpy version. I should have gotten outside this weekend to get some stuff done in the yard, the weather was awesome! but I had a sick kid and stayed inside most of the weekend with her.

hmmm.... that sounds like a good plan... hmmm.... well... beofre that i played mothership zeta... at first i thought it was easy... then more and more those shielded guiys popped up... those were quite tough... but with that weaponry the old game is easy peasy now^^ oh and borfore zeta i did point lookout... so i came packed to the aliens quite good... one alien is layed down with one shot of the 10mm gun quite easily...hehehe
well i tackeld that one with level 18... i leveld quite good in that DLC... and the guns there are quite hardpacking... the rednecks weren´t the toughest by the way... those bomb hurling ghouls... they were so mean ...
I didn't do anything tonight. I was busy cleaning out the gutters and raking and hauling wheelbarrows full of compost material. However I looked at the diorama and I looked at the vegetation I was killing outside and thought about ideas for making vegetation....And then I thought about making vegetation, and materials for making vegetation.
HAHA ...I let the trimming and clean-up lapse over fall/winter...and my yard has become my own personal Death World to conquer...and it is almost in compliance!
many peeps use herbs like basil and such stuff for making vegetation... but i guess you as an old plastic head ... probably aquarium plants will work better...and they are dead cheap too... tho some nice twines with leaves on made of wire and herbs would look plain awsome...

Keep thinking that way!! Women prefer a man with some substance and they especially want consistancy...once you go all subservient to them, they lose respect for you. If you don't have a friendship, a partnership...then it's doomed to fail OR be a lopsided and unbalanced relationship.
aye to that man! been there done that too... men are just sometimes so dumb... specially in their very first relationship... then we tend to want to make everything right... which is a failsafe way to ruin everything in my view...
@ Chide- It may sound trite, but when you look back on this moment in life you'll likely be quite happy with how things turned out. I'm starting to think that everything has a "burn out" point eventually regardless of how amazing things were when they first started out. People change, grow in different directions, etc. In my own selfish twisted way I'm actually jealous that yours happened before it got to the point that involves courts and lawyers and ridiculous amounts of wasted $$$.
oh dave... given the history this even makes the gak really hit the fan... the image of dick inside the doorframe you emntioned earier now makes much more sense...
@ Childe for detailing, you want a top-gravity feed cup, small needle/nozzle. You WILL need parts eventually, so you need a reliable local or Internet source. Badger is US-Made, but Iwata is Japanese made- both companies make excellent detail abs.
Very cool! I forget which Iwata is similar to the Badger Renegade Krome- theirs are all letter/number designations, but I know the Iwata is like $80 more than the Badger here.
Iwata is expensive but not as much as those dam woman, so look it this way what has cost you in heart ache and head aches you can now happily invest in a decent airbrush ………. Which in the long run will be a better investment and bring you more joy and happiness int he long run.
