US Army does not allow (at least when I was in, who knows what going on now.) facial hair aside from a moustache, and even then, very regulated. I have shaved it ONE TIME since I got out in 1997. That was for Holloween one year, I wanted to be Frankenstein, Frank doesn't have a goat. So I shaved it. The only cool part was that NO ONE knew who I was. The bad part was the 2 months it took to come back in properly.

Interesting news for the league; I recently found a way to make rivets for models that involves an actual hammer! Is anyone interested in hearing this technique? it involves Dave's riveting tube idea, but eschews the sharpening with sandpaper.

Ok; here's how it works:

tools; metal tube (inside diameter = that of desired rivets), hammer, plasticard, thin, long tool (i used copper wire)

process:
step 1: position tube on the plasticard, like one would a nail
step 2: give the top of the tube a good whack with the hammer (also like one would a nail: be careful not to bend the tube!)
step 3: remove rivet with thin tool (or just pop the rivet out, if you perforated it instead of going right through, which also works)
step 4: repeat until enough rivets are produced.

That's how I just started doing it, because those tools are readily available to me (i got the metal tube from a radio antenna), and because i felt like trying it

I wasn't talking about FW at all...styrene..injection molded kits, completely different.

I was meaning the bit about it fitting together properly Dave no offence was meant tbh, I think ill fitting things is part of the hobby, and I love it when it happens, because it's a challenge to put right ^_^

Aye, the casting process isn't infallible, but you'd think for the price that you pay they wouldn't send you the bloody miscasts! I've had some bad experiences with FW stuff, but at least their customer service is ace, so can't really complain

Yeah I'm with scarper on this tbh, I've had miscasts and kits that wouldnt come clean of their release agent, and they have quite happily sent out new ones as replacements. no matter how much the model cost. the most amusing time was when an order didnt arrive... they sent out a replacement, and then the original came too

but you'd think for the price that you pay they wouldn't send you the bloody miscasts!

Agreed Vik, plasticard is infinitely better, and you can still get the weight of metal with it too, plus you can always clad it in thin sheet metal too.

Imperial Lasguns are cheap, reliable stamped weapons, which do not have to be produced on an admech forge world (see the Imperial Infantryman's upliftimg primer for my source)- Like a Chinese AK-47 they don't need any more detail than that, because none exists

The las-gun does have a 100shot power-clip magazine. the bolter, has 24 bolts in it.

the lasgun may have 100 flashes of its torch, but the 20 rounds which a boltgun kicks out can decimate several targets at once due to its secondary split-second-before-impact charge.

Yeah, the armor piercing/high explosive, heat and moisture sensors make it a nasty bolt!

Lasgun will cauterize the wound.

Well you also take into consideration that marines have been in countless battles and scenarions so they have a plan for everything under the sun plus there is subversion tatics too.

a gaurdsman gets about a month of training a little book and a flashlight then sent into horrible conditions to hopefully clog the gun of the enemy so the other guardsman can save the planet or some thing like that.

THe best example of a guardsmans life is a short novel called 15 hours.cant remember for the life of me who done it but it is a good read.

The reason the IG are considered heroic is because they are trying to do a job with mediocre equipment and weapons, and are just like you and me.

SM have all the perks, Powered Armor, Killer vehicles and weapons, and the enhanced physiques and psycho-indoctrination

I do a Vulkan He' stan/Lysander list for folks who need a challenge.

I had a neighbor here on base that had a nine foot tall Infalteable Roll Tide Elephant in his fornt yard year round.
