Soooooo, eventually it surfaces, I’ve heard about this in one form or another for the best part of 2 years, I was getting worried when it was taking so long and “gretchinz” turned up.....
So what have I heard about this...
1/ it’s a self contained game, kind of a cross between dark future and gorkamorka but with a new twist.
2/ there will be a campaign type system for upgrading buggies and drivers etc. I don’t know if these are in the box or through a supplement/white dwarf.
3/ the buggies, the classic (ancient) buggy has had a total revamp and is unrecognisable now, however.... the buggies in this box set might not be the actual buggies that form the main release for 40k, they might be kind of like an “easy to build” type version. I heard the new buggy kit is THE most kustomisable kit that GW has ever done, with talk of wheels and tracks and bits to make scorchas etc as well as brand new variants.
4/ warbikes, trukks and even helicopters might be usable in the game, though not straight out of the box.
5/ at one time there was talk of extending the game with different tracks, legendary vehicles and drivers but I think this may have been canned.
I am super excited for this, and will pick up more than one box for sure
Okay, so now that CSM have received attention, Sisters are getting their update next year, and Orks have been teased (*edit* assuming this is real), who is left to whine on the board? I guess it's up to Eldar players at this point.
Long ago... about 2001-ish... when Armeggedon was first released with a little tiny book (including steel Legion, black template, and Orks) they had a Speed Freeks boxed set. It was amazing.
HOLLYYY <REMOVED>!!!! (sorry mods - amend as req'd) I hope this isn't a China only release as the article(?) kinda implies else I'm going to be spending a lot of money getting those models over to my house in the UK!!
Please DON'T circumvent the language filter, especially if you know it..
There was a game that GW did, in white dwarf if I remember correctly, with orks where they had rules for vehicle chases.
This could be that, only updated, all to get us to buy the new buggy kit. If those on the front of the box represent what is in the box it looks like it is going to be a REALLY customizable buggy/trakk/skorcha kit.

Chinese writing on the box cover. So maybe its just region specific packaging?
Billagio wrote: If this is real it looks like more of a board/specialist game than a boxed set for 40k
I would hope it would include some new models though that would get rules or be the new models for warbuggies and the like. It would be odd to put awesome looking pictures on the front then inside you get those hella haggard warbuggy things they still sell.

True, hopefully theyre the right scale and have decent rules

Hopefully given the mention of Orks racing in that Vigilus lore video.
I could see this being a thing and I'm getting very, very hyped. I'm an Evil Sunz player and those buggies look like better versions of customisations I've made. If they're anything like the box art I'll have to get a few copies of this I think (price dependent of course).
Lolman1c needs to get in here, I know he's an Evil Sun too.
If this is an update on Gorkamorka, that would be terrific. It does seem to fit in with the existing narrative for Hive Vigilus. Orks were not able to penetrate the hive shields and had to go have fun on their own.
Let's speculate on the contents....
Definitely a couple buggy kits (with multiple builds)
bikes (existing kits)
character on bike model (probably includes options for both mek and boss and painboy)
There is a chance that this game will be set on the same planet as Kill Team and Tooth & Claw, as the background does mention bored orks going about racing on the plains of Vigilus.

Would be over the moon with a new multi-purpose kit for the Buggies and/or Trakks.
I reckon it'll have 2 or 3 Buggies/Trakks.
Maybe 1 or 2 characters on Bikes or option to build a "character" bike instead of one of the vehicles.
It looks heavily customisable and we'll be able to build different types of 4 wheeled vehicles.
What do we think the size of the vehicles will be?
Oh man this has me excited. I sure hope it's real.
Buggies and Trakks are one of the few kits I don't own a zillion of (I've only got three trakks and one buggy). I don't like the old model but was holding off on making my own out of Trukks and Deffkoptas to see if GW was going to do something.

That's japanese, actually, or else the chinese have adopted hiragana.

Eldar will be getting a small release this year, so there's that. CSM will be getting major releases next year along with new Abaddon and the first campaign series for advancing from Dark Imperium.
People on Dakka will whine about everything anyway. It's a part of what makes it such a pain to actually try to have any sort of discussion here.
Isn't there a mobile game called Speed Freeks that is Orky racing? Possible this is a tabletop adaptation of that as a standalone thingie like the Gangs one was?
Edit: Looks like this may have been Japanese-only release, which seems to fit with the images above...

Cool, that makes the whole "China exclusive" thing even more unlikely.
Vigilus comprises a number of continent-sized hivesprawls that, in recent years, have become filled to overflowing with refugees seeking to escape the horrors besetting the worlds of the Imperium Nihilus beyond its aegis. Each such sprawl is protected by psychically charged Bastion-class force fields that render comatose any who would seek to breach their boundaries, enabling the defenders to slaughter them at leisure. These force fields proved so effective that even when an Ork Waaagh! smashed into Vigilus, the greenskins were unable to assail the hivesprawls beyond, so took to seeking entertainment elsewhere by engaging in violent races across the sweeping open plains that separate the vast hivesprawls.

Can confirm. Look at the box - 千年 after 41 on the box means 'millennium' in japanese. Check with google translate if you want.

I thought that seemed a rather specific call out when I read it. Neat to see what its referring too.

As I said, there's hiragana in there, which is a dead giveaway. Chinese and japanese share a lot of the kanji (even when the pronunciation usually is very different, and in some cases the meaning has drifted), but hiragana and katakana are pure japanese.
Some part of me doesn't really believe this leak. It just screams "knockoff to me." I get that the whole lore of orks zogging off and racing on their own is a strong link, but something deep inside me just doesn't believe this is real. I'll wait for official news before getting hype.

Hopefully this isn't restricted to China or Japan and is a global release. I think there would be a very vocal uproar if this isn't available worldwide.
Still annoyed that I didn't pick up Gangs of Commaragh when it was available, by all accounts it isn't too bad a game.

If it's photoshop, it's well done.
Not photoshop, just a bootleg product like China and Japan are so notorious for.
It fits the current timeline - Wolves, Genestealers, and Orks. Plus the background around the Vigilus sector. So if it is a hoax, they timed it perfectly.
so some kind of racing game in the 40k universe?
thats actually kinda hilarious because i was literally just talking with a friend about making a racetrack-ruleset for 40klol
Ork leak: Trukkz have been found to be under priced drastically and will now cost 180pts in order to bring them on par with a Space Marine Rhino. The Stompa likewise was proven to be too powerful by Reece at FLG and so has had its BS lowered to 6+ and movement to 5'.
In a completely unrelated note, GW will release new Sculpts for buggies which will cost $60 for each one and will cost 5pts with 3+ to hit, T8 and a 2+ save with 25 wounds.
Somewhere I have the rules for "Formula Waaagh!" I think it was called. From white dwarf I believe. Must admit I'm digging the look of hose buggys if hey are close to e actual kit it's a buy.
I had to do a double take when I first saw this, if the new upcoming buggy models look anything like the artwork I will jump for joy. I'm glad we're finally getting SOMETHING for Orks, gives me hope that we aren't pushed unceremoniously to next year for our release.
I'd bet money it's simply a "quick start" box for the new Ork vehicles, much like Gang War Comorragh and Knight Renegade, etc. I bet you'll get a scant 20-30 page book with some turn dials, etc...but I sincerely doubt it's a relaunch of Gorkamorka.

When did CSM receive attention? Did I miss a wonderful release where we literally got something more than a single character from a Triumvirate box?
This is definitely genuine and definitely not Japan only. The space marine heroes range was designed to broaden the appeal of warhammer in Japan by mimicking the popular gachapon (blind box) toys that are sold here. Even those kits are going global.
This box will not move the needle one millimetre over here. Japan has no more interest in a racing game than anywhere else.
I’m really looking forward to seeing the kits. The three buggies shown on the cover each look quite different.
Hopefully we will get the details on Saturday.

well it started with the return of Magnus, the release of traitor legions (sure it was less then 6 months before 8th but..) the introduction of death guard as an army complete with Morty, and then the release of 1ks sons as offically their own army. weather you like what they got it or not Chaos within the last year and a half has seen a fair bit of attention.
edit: ohh and they also, finally, blew up Cadia.
edit: more recently there is the renegade knight index, which is IMHO an improvement in GW's responsiveness to chaos, previously they'd have ignored renegade knights when the new IK codex hit
Tzeentch release w/ Tzaangors and Brimstones and new options, Magnus, new Thousand Sons models after years and years. A whole Deathguard release. Mortarian. So many Deathguard. Nurgle release w/ a new Great Unclean One after years and years. Seriously - Chaos has gotten a huge amount of love.
Interesting that they're putting this focus on this world called Vigilus. I guess Vigilus is going to be the new 'Cadia'. Very important to the Imperium, lots of different factions fighting over it.
So far we got GSC and Space Wolves with mention of Orks (racing in the badlands) and then Black Legion.
I'm going to bet that after this, we start hearing more whispers of Black Legion coming up. Hopefully with that new rumored Abaddon model...
But seriously GW, not everything needs a mini-game box set...
Their profits are through the roof. I think they've realized that the consumers love these box sets. They've done a ton of them over the past couple years and they've all been very successful. It's smart and passes on some saving to the consumer - and gets us hooked with models for armies that we might end up collecting further.

Chinese writing on the box cover. So maybe its just region specific packaging?
Japanese actually. It has hiragana alongside kanji which is specific feature to japanese to make the chinese letters work with japanese language specific
An Actual Englishman wrote: Can someone confirm this actually? My wife is British Born Chinese, she can speak but can't read or write Cantonese that well. She said some of the symbols looked Chinese and some looked Japanese?
Yes. Thing is Japanese uses three systems of writing due to lots of historic reasons. At the core ARE chinese letters. These are what your wife notices. These represent concepts and can be used as words themselves but how to pronounce it is something you need to learn basically word by word(There are some rules but also tons of exceptions). However japanese language and chinese language work completely differently grammatically so just by them would be super hard to write. For example chinese making sentence PAST sentence you add one kanji which is always read same way. In japanese you modify the word and reading of that differs based on word which would be lot harder to indicate with chinese style so japanese have put in use yet another writing system called hiragana that was invented latere than kanji were introduced, first by women to have easier writing system they could use, which is ~52 letters(compared to thousands of chinese letters) each representing specific sound(so more similar to what we use) rather than concept(like sun, tree, eating etc). There's also 3rd writing system called katakana which mirrors hiragana which is used for loan words.
41千年紀における <- last 4 letters are the revealers. Those are hiragana ONLY used in Japanese. Not in China, not in Korea(which also uses chinese letters though has come up with their own system as well) or well in any other country that uses chinese letters. If there's hiragana it's 100% sure to be japanese writing. 3 letters before that are chinese letter and these your wife could recognize.
I've lived in Japan for 13 years and couldn't have explained writing the system that well. Anyway to get back on track, landmine on twitter (a popular online retailer) is saying he knows about 4 new ork kits, two of which are vehicles.
He also said that he didn't know about the box set so add salt as needed.
Definitely Japanese. Tagline on the front is 第41千年紀における爆走集団の戦闘 which means "High Speed Combat in the 41st Millenium". (Surprise)
Means I'll have to get a squad of ork bikers done up as bosozoku with giant perms.

Good news for Ork players I guess.
I think those of us wanting a proper modernised GorkaMorka are just going to have to make it ourselves once the inevitable arrival of vehicle rules hits N17. Still, nothing preventing us from using the models in the meantime to play the classic game, and some of these random "here's some models at a modest discount and oh yeah we chucked a game in there" game boxes have actually played pretty well for what they are. I do hope the models don't go too far in the "hot rod" design direction - that's their inspiration obviously, but I prefer my Orks looking ramshackle and scrappy rather than "we put some glyphs on a slightly OTT version of a car from the 50's".
They need to relent with all the boxed sets, boxed games and stuff. I feel like they are giving players too many options. So it's like everyone is playing different games and it makes finding games harder. I don't know what this will end up being but I ain't buying it, I just can't, can't keep up with all the crazy new products. If I was an ork player with an existing force though i'd be pretty stoked.

Locally I don’t see anyone playing the box set games like Renegade, Spires of Commarqgh, the HH board games. They may be good and fun but most people pick them up for the models.

It's okay because almost no one actually plays these boxed games more than once. They might as well be wrapping paper for the models inside.

We know, most people see BAs DAs and SWs and just space marines, problem is it's not really far, for the reasons Khalan described.
I wonder if this is a reworking of Dark Future that is changed to be Ork themed? As in, it will use the rules from Dark Future, but new 40K Ork models (or even old ones?)

Unlikely to be exclusive. Too expensive to do for just Japan. Especially as miniature games don't appear to be that popular in Japan that I can see which isn't surprising. Japan is super hard market to get into with the expensive prices, japanese little free time and very small homes(I know I would sell out my GW models if I ever moved to Japan. Too space consuming).
Space marine heroes thing worked because they are small and were sold in a style japanese are nuts about. Big box that needs big board to play at? Much less popular.
Hope that these are the new buggy kits we've been hearing about. The old ones are good, but alongside a Stompa, they are a bite size morsel.
Huh? Stompa bite size morsel? The one that's IIRC even bit taller than knight? Stompa isn't orks warhound equilavent but more comparable to knight so don't see how you could say they are even remotely too small

They didn’t say the Stompa was a bite size morsel. They said the buggies are a bite size morsel next to the stompa.
Oh boy! I don't even really need any more buggies for my speed freaks but I'm all over this one! This might just turn out to be a good time to be an ork player

The Kill Team box has Vigilus as the planet on which the Genestealer Cult and the Adeptud Mechanicus are fighting, the Writhing Shadow Tyranids box and the Drop Fore Imperator Guard box for Kill Team also have Vigilus as the location on which they’re active, and the Drukhari codex mentions Vigilus as the target of Dark Eldar raids (http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Vigilus).
So that’s Genestealer Cult, Space Wolves, Orks, Tyranids, Adeptus Mechanicus, Tyranids, Astra Militarum, Drukhari and Chaos Space Marines already, all on Vigilus... Of the main factions (not counting subfactions of the Imperium or Chaos) that leaves just Necrons, T’au and Craftworld Eldar, I think?
I love that while the other factions are at war and trying to achieve something, the Orks just got bored and decided to play Mad Max. No point worrying about some coma inducing forcefield, let's just race about instead! Awesome.
I think this is legit as it fits into the recent Vigilus fluff and GWs model for releasing box sets. I'd put money on it being a planned leak from GW actually. The Ork salt levels probably got too high.
I also think its 40k scale. We've seen rumour engine pics which fit with this sort of model and we've now had someone suggest there's 4 kits coming, 2 of which are vehicles (what are the other 2?!).
I also doubt it'll be Japan only. Tneva has made some good points on this among others (thanks for explanation on Japanese/Chinese writing!).
Timing the Ork release to fit in with this box set makes a lot of sense and explains the reason our codex is so late too.
Trying to keep a measured head but the hype train has me by the balls.

I think it's also relevant that Orks where name dropped specificly as "racing" and the speed freaks box leaks, and that the black legion was also name dropped. this IMHO adds BIIIG weight to the idea of a "december black legion release"
Myu guess... november of december sees a event where the Black Legion reminds us all that there is a reason why, despite a primarch not leading them the Black Legion of chief among the Legions of chaos. this likely sees the release of a "trimuvirate of chaos" pack. featuring Abaddon, Fabius Bile and a new deamon prince. we're left to stew on this for a bit before in febuary the Black Legion begins to capitalize on it's gains, big stuff happens huge battles are fought, including a climatic titan clash! which is detailed in a BL novel, ohh and at this time the GME is re-released! gathering storm style books chronical the course of this massive conflict, armies get new toys, and at the very climax... the Lion or Russ return. Abbaddon's offensive is stopped but the cost! ohh the cost!
I dunno proably too optimistic but I had fun writing that
About time! To be honest, I'm pleasantly suprised that we are getting anything. Hopefully new Ghazz/some HQ model is in order too, although my fingers are mainly crossed for flavorful and varied codex.
JawRippa wrote: About time! To be honest, I'm pleasantly suprised that we are getting anything. Hopefully new Ghazz/some HQ model is in order too, although my fingers are mainly crossed for flavorful and varied codex.
A new Gazz would be nice, Orks need a plastic warboss period.
Honestly I wish they'd give every faction a kit ala the Space Marine Commander kit.
heck I'd like to see a Primaris one of those, gimme eneugh options and I'd grudingly pay 60 bucks CDN for it.
Has anyone thought to get the Chinese on the box translated? Could offer some clues... Since the two buggies in the back seem to be banging into each other, I'm going to guess this could be a Gorkamorka reboot.

I just re-read the Gorkamorka rules the other night for the first time in 15 years, and I have to admit - the concept of the game is really inventive, and the rules seem bloody good fun. Here's hoping - if not a full comeback - that this comes somewhat close in style!
Is that what happened with the last leak? Was it rogue trader?
Yes, we'll likely hear something about this today on the Warhammer Community site. This is something that should not have been leaked so early, as was the case with Rogue Trader.
Well whole box isn't visible so "contains XX miniatures" is still possible.
And before grots were gunners and orks driver but who knows maybe GW decided to change it for reasons. Which albeit would be weird as a) grots are the better gunners b) ork vehicles are noted to being hard to drive making even for human strenght hard to steer.
as long as the grot can keep it's foot planted to the floor playing 'wiv da dakka' is probably the most fun to be had in the race
Obviously these vehicles are of the Evil Sunz clan so the amount of love and attention that's gone into their manufacture means that even a Grot can drive them.
Prett sure it is an Orky Driver, and just a Grot Rigger.
Picture isn’t quite clear enough to be sure, but there’s something bulkier than a Grot behind the wheel, I’m sure of it. And it has an Iron Gob to boot.

Yeah that snippet seemed to oddly specific to just be background fluff

Website is in polish, here's from google translate:
"Hello!
Another portion of photos, this time from the middle of the box.
It looks like there will be two colors of moldings, two factions (?) And cardboard boards (it looks like boards) in the Necromundy style. You will probably be able to put a race track on them where the game will take place.
In the moldings we see a mass of wheels and vehicle chassis. A lot of bitsów, a lot of elements ... will be of what to build new models ... just what ?!
You can see that there are cubes k6 and k10. Cats are not ordinary cubes - we have an effect / outcome cube or something.
In addition, we can see that a book with the Story of The Beast will be attached.
Interesting are the stands - these ovals do not have any vehicles, but who knows, maybe there will be motorbikes. Deathwatch motors are on ovals, right?
It looks like it is not a fairytale and we have something super-new in front of our eyes!
PiñaColada wrote: Yeah, I was just going to ask. Do we know what gun that is supposed to be? It looks pretty chunky.. Is it just a big shoota or like a kannon?
Looks a bit like the lobba from the BW kit.
The buggy used to have a multi-melta for a gun that looks pretty similar to the picture.
terry wrote: more pictures can be found here they're not great, but the sprues come in red and yellow
thank you for posting that, this is definitely not any current ork vehicle. man, that sprue is just the epitome of current GW. every spot on that sprue has been used efficiently to get the most plastic in a box. this is starting to feel more and more real.
also that pic with a book in the back that just says "sample chapter, the beast", looks like the same art from the beast arise series, so they might be trying hard to incorporate that book series with the new orks. and those bases are defiantly big ovals for buggies (it looks the same base size that was supplied with the aos ork wolf chariot i goit, and its very close to the size of the current buggy) and the small ones could easily be for bikers or hopefully a bike character or 2.
Interesting that there's quite a few different sized bases in there. Maybe quite a few Ork vehicles in the box. Obviously the Polish write up suggests it's not Asian only.

It also looks like the killteam box, where the two teams have been on differently colored plastic sprues to be able to play them right away.
Since there are at least four sprues, maybe we get four buggies in the box?
Mad Doc Grotsnik wrote: Can’t be sure, but they look to be at least two separate sprues, going on the wheel layout.
And what looks to be a gunmetal coloured sprue. Maybe the chassis (what is the plural for chassis? Does it have one. I dunno)
Like sheep, chassis is its own plural. I thought the sprue in the top right of the photo was black, but I could be wrong. Perhaps, like Blood Bowl and Adeptus Titanicus, the game comes with a sprue of counters/measuring sticks/etc?
AndrewGPaul wrote: "sheeps" seems more like a verb. You know, that activity popular in Aberdeen, Wales and New Zealand? "you sheep, he sheeps, they are sheeping"?
nah, its sheepz
as for the smaller bases i imagine they are most likely for bikers, they could very well just package the old mini with the new ones to make a fuller set. most new bikes these days are packaged with ovals (and most mounted infantry in aos too)
Doesn't anyone else think this is all a little too coincidental?
Yesterday we had Phil Kelly harping on about Orks going off to race in a video supposedly about "lore for a boxed set of GSC vs SW". The Orkish races have also been mentioned in articles.
The same damn day someone leaks pics of a Gorkamorka 2.0 boxed set called Speed Freeks?
Am I the only one who thinks this is all a brilliant intentional marketing technique employed by GW? In which case they have a video ready. Just as they did for Rogue Trader....
For the most part, Gorkamorka played a lot like Necromunda and Mordheim. The primary difference was the use of vehicles. Instead of having rules for the number of occupant in a trukk, one simply had to have enough space on the actual model to place the miniatures on. While this means that vehicles could be huge and hold a whole mob this generally resulted in crashing into everything and being immediately crippled by template weapons. As well, consider the risk of relying on one or two large vehicles: your gak will get countered hard by the other players in the campaign and one bad roll that leaves your vehicle broken at the onset means being gimped or losing a match before it even begins. Its best to have as many specialized vehicles as possible, with back-ups and spares as needed. It should noted that the base of Gorkamorka model are different. Rather than using a standard circle base seen in standard Warhammer 40k, Gorkamorka used these strange egg shaped bases. The idea was that the bases would be small enough so that the players could jam as many models onto a truck. You can't get these bases anymore but custom-cut plasticard bases work just as well.

I think a number of the out of focus, shaky pictures that has leaked lately is by GW marketing.

I can tell you explicitly that Rogue Trader was not supposed to leak so early, it really did force their hand. From what I've been told, most leaks are anticipated (whether it's a GW staffer or someone further down the supply chain) but some are meant to be kept locked away (Rogue Trader). The RT one in particular spawned a pretty heavy internal investigation AFAIK.

Well, that probably explains why the bloody thing is still not released. Feels like I've been waiting for it forever.
These leaked photos are amazing. Why could someone not just turn over the box and take a clear picture of the back of the box? As for rogue trader, that looked like it leaked out of the studio, given how early it was. That is a much more serious problem.

This. Why would they leak shaky photos days before big trade show and burn one big surprise they had? Think people, GW gains nothing from leaking 2 terrible photos, most likely someone just snapped a quick pic when no one was looking. Effort to 'not photo everything'? Maybe, just maybe, he made a picture of the big thing and wasn't obsessed with every unimportant thing inside...

I know... obviously GW. If it was a real leaker he would have flipped through everything. I mean even showing "Beast" and cutting it allmoff with an easy to remove base makes this look staged. Anyway, it doesn't matter who leaked it. A a leak is a leak.

Also if he was snagging a picture with his phone in a warehouse enviroment it's possiable he needed to take a pic well dodging securty.
we'll never know, but I've always assumed a lot of the leaks we've gotten from GW was marketing, this certainly explains why leaks suddenly ground to a near halt when GW started communiating via marketing better

And yet he took the time to rummage through the box and take a photo of the bases and a partial sprue pic, instead of the back of the box which would show everything in 1 go.
Looks like the box is part of a display (for Warhammer Fest Europe, presumably). Easy to get a quick shot like that, not so easy to lift up the box without everything falling out.
Well, the real question here is: Are these two separate kits, or one kit repeated ~3-4 times? Will this box set just be three identical new deffbuggy kits?
Haha, yeah... in the time it took to open the box from its seal he could have jist looked at the back and said "oops, it fell over so I was picking it up"
Great to see the sprues - this looks fantastic. Is it just me or are the yellow and red sprues different? Can’t see that big rectangular piece on the red sprue?

I just find it hard to believe that, particularly for RT, GW are able to pull out a pretty high quality video within hours (not even days) of a leak happening. I could get it with this 'leak' as GW will no doubt have a video for WH Fest (if that was the intended release announcement) but I find it a bit weird they'd have a video previewing RT just ready to go for no reason.
GW has quite a lot to gain from leaks like this too - now everyone is pumped up and excited about the product. We can't wait to hear more, whether it's from WarCom or at War Fest. They are building hype. I've never seen a phone camera as bad as the one this leaker is using.
Perhaps the announcement at WarFest will be even more mind blowing?! Perhaps they have another trick up their sleeve and this is a sneaky ploy to take our minds off what might be announced there?
Oguhmek wrote: Great to see the sprues - this looks fantastic. Is it just me or are the yellow and red sprues different? Can’t see that big rectangular piece on the red sprue?
Correct, the buggies from the artwork on the front of the box are the same as the sprues. It looks to me like there's 3 or 4 different buggy kits in here, possibly 2. They definitely aren't the same though.
lolman1c wrote: Haha, yeah... in the time it took to open the box from its seal he could have jist looked at the back and said "oops, it fell over so I was picking it up"
Do you think that's what he did? As opposed to snapping a pic of a box that as already sitting open in a cabinet?

Definitely at least 2 different buggy models, the red and yellow sprues each have 4 wheels but a different layout.

yeah, my money is this is GW marketing. they stoke intreast with a early leak, and then at the big games show do the full reveal. we'll proably be talking about this and speculating madly until then.
It's also possiable this is reaction the pressure from Orks on the facebook group. they've been pretty vocal about wanting news, so the community team may have gotten permission to leak something early to give them something.

At least two different kits. Look at the layout of the wheels on each,
True, though I suppose they could be dual sprue kits.
It would be cool to have buggies as a kit of two small vehicles, but compatible so you can mix-n-match to make different looking buggies.

I agree re the genuine leak given that information. Impossible to say for sure of course but looks more likely. I'm hoping marketing have had an emergency meeting and are preparing their news on this. They'll do well to ignore it until WH Fest.

Yeah as I said, simply confirm it's a thing, be all "Well guess our suprise has been sprung early. stay turned for more at WHfest" using it to hype their con could even be benifical to GW.
Possibly but Deffkoptas use the clear, raised bases ala Jetbikes currently.
I'd be more inclined to go for Bikes or mini buggies.
Characters on bikes might not be too far off either.
the custodes jetbike kit has oval biker bases and clear stems. they also come with clear bases seems GW is giving you the choice to match the basing to the rest of the army base or use the clear bottoms if you prefer, not saying they will go the same for the ork kits if they come, but a warboss can hope.
Sure, but can you find such a compromise in quality in normal kits?
Is it really a compromise? I mean, looking at every other wheeled vehicle model I've built from GW, there's been no choice in how to position the wheels, so doing it this way makes the whole assembly more sturdy. There's a slight cost in ease of painting, I suppose.

Wheels being molded into the hull is a huge compromise placing the model squarely into clip together toy category, not scale models. I hope it's at least covered by mud guards.

plastic glue worked well enough for me. and I went ahead and added a small lump of green stuff around the base as well molded to look like a rock and incorperated it to blend into the rest of my rocky ice based basing theme. (pretty simple.. gloss blue paint first then small shards of slate pva glued on top, add a thin layer of crackle paste with extra white pigment and boom cracked ice... little drybrush of light grey and golden)
I can find my Facebook post mentioning Speedfreekz, maybe they can’t get them all. The bases are odd, I wonder if that implies there will be smaller vehicles?
And a sample chapter of The Beast Arises. Is this the book that introduces the idea of prime Orks? I wonder if this is a way to get out the fluff behind this new types of orks before dropping a new Prime Kit.
I suspect it's similar to heroes which is collective system that japanese are nuts about. Miniature games meanwhile are much smaller thing there in my experience

I've been involved in about five big (front page of Reddit big) leaks in my career at various companies, and they've all had people claim they're intentional leaks.
None of them were. People can and did get fired. Intentional leaks are much, much rarer than people think.
If gw doesn't do an article about this in like 72 hours then speculation will run all over and cause more problems for them than if they just did an article right now.
AndrewGPaul wrote: At least let them, you know write an article. And then edit it, get it uploaded. etc. Not to mention sourcing some images.
That's why I said 72 hours but speculation is already going crazy on reddit. People are claming the box has 4 buggies and like 1 of every vechile. XD people have their hope too high.
It's interesting how the 40k team was joking with the posts and replying but now they are denying its existence. Potentially highlights this wasn't a leak that happened on purpose or maybe too early.

I'm betting this wasn't supposed to come to light until this weekend's WH Fest deal.
have seen the rumour in several places now about the number of options for the kit with tons of options seems cool. especially if there are options for traxx and buggies in one kit. Also another rumour not on here but read through facebook is 2 per kits much like the armigers (apply salt liberally, but I would be happy if so)
It's pretty obvious the box has 2 buggies and some number of bikes or koptas. At worst, this could just be the existing bike kit or a recut sprue of existing easy-to-build kopta sculpts.

close to 100% sure this is a GW leak, they always do the out of focus bad angle to give that look as if somebody snuck a photo.... that or the same guy is leaking everything and he really needs to set up a go fund me so I can donate to send him (or her) to a phoography class or twelve, and to buy them a new camera because they seem to be using a digital camera made in 2002.

That’s right – after waiting patiently (and not-so-patiently), Ork players can look forward to a brand new boxed set featuring some incredible new vehicles, like this update of the venerable Ork Warbuggy.
We’ll have more news for you very soon at Warhammer Fest in the Warhammer Community and Studio Preview Seminar. In fact, if you want to be there in person, some tickets are still available. You can grab yours here:
If you can’t, we’ll be posting all the updates as they happen right here on Warhammer Community as well as through our email newsletter – so stay tuned.

Spoiler:
We have 2 Grots, one back and one side, and 2 Orks, a gunner and a driver.
The Gunner looks to me to be a Mek?
The gun is unknown at this point, possibly a new weapon, if it's a current weapon I'd say it's a Kannon or Kustom Mega Blasta.
The paint job and design of the model is insane, I have to say.
The Buggy looks pretty damn big, like almost Trukk big maybe?
I wonder if the horns have a gameplay use in both 40k and the standalone game I also wonder if the Gretchin have a gameplay purpose in 40k (they certainly will in the standalone I think).
E - can anyone tell what size oval the bases are? I might have to order some customised ones, for no reason....
Yeah the size of the buggy is huge. If they were all grots i could see it being only slightly larger than the ancient buggy we currently have, but thats an ork in the driver seat and gunner.
This thing has to be Trukk sized, if not slightly longer. Wonder if they are going to overhaul their stats to compensate for the size change? Running like 10+ of these would be a nightmare and you kinda NEED that many with the current rules

It would be some serious banter if these end up being T5 5W models with a 4+
my wallet is about to get significantly lighter... love it. I do share the concern on size vs the previous one unless its getting a stat upgrade. T5 5 wounds seems silly. of course it will probably stay 4+ but that seems like trukk equivilant size so hope it gets resiliance increase IE more wounds possible t6 with ard top .

At the very least, you can rest assured it will be a double box like the Armigers--unless they've gone stupid.

I think it's a given at this point.
Possibly not in the speed freeks box if the rumour monger is to be believed but later as a standalone.
Remember my little Grots - we still have at least one, possibly more NEW vehicles we haven't even seen. You haven't all forgotten about the Bad Moonz ride have ya?
Have to say that is a really brilliant little video. Had me grinning from ear to ear.
More of that please GW, it was spot friggin on as a teaser piece.
Great looking model! I was almost saddened by the destruction of the old one, but oh well. Orktober is so far away, but at least it's something. I plan to own at least one no matter what.
Kap'n Krump wrote: Any guesses on what weapon it's sporting? I'm guessing a kannon, which...............eh.

Standardized weapons haven't really been a thing for 3 editions. New model, new weapon profile.
There's also the idea that they have been kinda/sorta trying to make weapons appropriate for the platform or giving the platform some special rules to make the weapon work.
I feel like I should add, for anyone who didn't notice in the video, the Buggy has air valves on it's tyres. I repeat; the Buggy has air valves. That's a positive confirmation of air valves on Buggy tyres.
I had theories about Ork vehicles of some sort being more like 'templates' where certain little upgrades or components could drastically alter the role and abilities of the vehicle.
I'm happy to see that my alcohol-induced imagination didn't lead me too far astray from reality.
Suspension looks even more plausible than the trukk's. Orks somehow manage to still be the most realistic faction in 40k.
Weapon seems to be some kind of energy thing, going by the pipe on the side and the circular bit at the back. Doesn't look like any of the mek guns.
Bases for vehicles could be fun. I've been planning to build my skorchas on bases to keep them held together. Lots of opportunity for modelling; having them tilted over to corner or jumping over humps.
Bit surprised they don't seem to be using the engine design from the dreads and kans or the 'standard' exhausts (used on bikes and walkers). There seem to be two separate engines, which is a bit weird but you have to have some weirdness in orky engineering. Hopefully there will be an option for one ridiculously long aeroplane style one too.
Wheels look a little different from previous ones, which I really like. They look more believable to me.
Well done video, but did anyone else chuckle when they said "21 years", and think "Yep, and this new one will be around for 20 years as well...so I hope you like it"
Oh for the love of Gork! I don't even need buggies, they're already one of the most numerous things in my army but these things are glorious! They look fast (and as people mentioned previously, really long) and I love all the little ones helping out.
I do wonder if that is an energy weapon or like a stikkbomb launcha since I actually don't remember what they look like..

Pretty serious Fury Road vibe there; dual supercharged engines, external cage. All it needs is a few Thundersticks...
I really like the hot rod proportions. As well it will make kitbashing diy versions from toys really easy as there are loads of appropriately sized and shaped toys to use as a base.
