It seems there is a new class of battlesuits coming. Wonder what they look like though.

How big do you think it will be? Ironclad dread, knight size, or Tau titan even...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4qdgno-huo the perfect song for Dark Eldar

Four scholars at Oxford were making their way down the street, and happened to see a group of ladies of the evening. “What’s this?” said the first. “A jam of tarts?” “Nay,” said the second, “an essay of Trollope’s.” “Rather, a flourish of strumpets,” advanced the third. “No, gentlemen,” concluded the last. “Here we have an anthology of pros.”

Slightly larger than a fire warrior. Everyone knows hazards are smaller than crises.

The first number indicates size, and the second number indicates something like production version. So the XV-15 Stealth Suit is basically beefed up personal armour, while the XV-25 is a step up in size, presumably to handle additional loads if the testing for the XV-22 pans out. The XV-8 series is much larger, and the XV-9 is a size up from that, although it looks around the same size as Shas'O Rymyr's XV-8(something).

A new day, a new time zone.

I'm not sold on the double-dual-burst-cannons, but once they release a couple other weapon configurations, I think I'm definitely going to be picking up a full unit's worth.

Looks like it has some District 9 influence which is a plus; wonder how much these will end up costing since they might be my first Forgeworld purchase.

Looks to be dreadnought sized...but isn't as 'beefy' as the dread is.

It's got neat rules though, and WS3 isn't bad! I've got a unit that can jump on unfriendly assault troops, and then blow up it's drones to escape! (and if I read this right, each suit can buy a drone....but it is expensive I'll give it that)

Nids don't need one anyways, they are fine in 5th.

I know someone who would smack you for that, but it's all good.

If the new Tau codex has this suit, I may start playing tau...but I'll have to think hard about it, because it IS a really expensive unit (I mean, 65 points per guy? I guess its kinda fair...)

I'm totally saving up for a unit of these once they get other configurations in. Can you imagine two TL Flamers with this thing? Torch, get into cc, get out, torch again.

Cane's point about it resembling the mecha-suit from District 9 probably explains why Forgeworld made this new suit better than any indication that a new Tau codex is upcoming. The designer was probably inspired by the movie.

I don't really dislike the model, but I'm disappointed that they didn't make a mass production version of Shas'O Rymyr, who seems more consistent with the established Tau esthetic.

Plus the legs are fugly.

It is a nice looking model, but I'm concerned about the pilot. Are Tau really flexible enough to sit like that suit would require?!?

It's either a more cramped cockpit, or Air Caste piloting it.

I don't remember, but arn't the pilots in some sort of fetal position with a needle in their spine to control the suit? I remember reading that somewhere on ATT. Might have been homebrew fluff. I think someone else mentioned it in the thread on ATT regarding these guys as well.

Yeah, the pilot is bundled up in the torso section - the legs/arms do not extend into the arms/legs of the suit. In that case, the cockpit looks roomier in the new suit.

I am drooling all over these. It's about time they started releasing suits that look like the cool concept art they had commissioned from the Crilio or Cirlo (Sp?) guy.

I echo the sentiment that for this much cash and points, I'm not too excited about 6 str5 shots, twin-linked or no. I'd rather have 4 non-linked burst cannons for 12 shots, or some of the rumoured new systems.

Alright, I'm conflicted about these. They are for close quarters firefighting and short melee bouts, but I don't think they'll survive the 2 rounds before they can disengage and be free of the enemy's guns. They simply aren't equiped well enough for close combat. Now, if they had access to some of the better equipment (I'm looking at you Stimulant Injector) and better close combat stats they'd be fine. As it stands, why not just use a Shas'O and his bodyguard with nearly the same stats and equipment for cheaper?

Then again, this is Forgeworld. Rule of cool rules for a universe ruled by the rule of cool. Practicality gets thrown out the window right off the bat.

Its the guns, the legs and the feet.

The whole thing looks like Forge World have taken a step back in Tau Technology.

The other FW Tau suis look tons better than this this one.

That would involve you charging, which I don't see any particular reason for. The drone sacrifice rule would work best if you were charged, and then had only 1 assault turn to get through. I can't think of many situations where you'd want to charge instead of using the JMP to get 6" farther away.

Hate to resurrect a dead thread, but the official rules for the XV9 are in Imperial Armour Apocalypse II. They're 75 pts each, and yes, they don't have to take the burst cannons. They actually have a bunch of other XV9-exclusive weapons they can take. Hope the models come with them...

Not going to go into detail as to what the other weapons are (buy the book!), but, I can say it really does scream that this suit was designed for horde killing...
