Hello everyone, the message of this post is simple and I wanted to know if anyone has shared these surprising and equally pleasing developments? To make a long story short, I placed an order from Forgeworld on April 27th, and it arrived at my home in Orlando, FL on April 29th.......yes in just two days!! I was shocked when it arrived and didn't know what to think.
Keep in mind I did not get any form of expedited shipping on my order.
P.S. I bought many FW weathering powders and all of the new Ork Stompa options, so expect reviews with plenty of pics coming soon!

Was the stuff shipped from a US or UK address? I'm guessing it must have been 'in-stock' at a US location to get to you in 2 days.

Nope, it had a UK address on it. That was the first thing I looked for on the box. Otherwise, I wouldn't be this shocked.

That is good then. Maybe they've finally hired some more staff.

I don't think more staff is the key factor. I'm not sure, but maybe they have got things running more streamlined, or maybe even a recent decrease in sales has had them less stressed.

It could be that the high value low weight nature of your order has meant that FW has been able to send it by a quicker route. This happens because FW charge a fixed percentage and the higher the order value the more money is left after packaging to ship it. Of course FW has been known to make the odd error in sending out stuff and could just have sent it by express in error? I also had a FW order arrive in quick time last week [Modeling master class book + 2 small bags od Death Korp stuff], which arrived in 2 working days as well.

This.
Their new website was the direct cause of the fact that they're filling orders far faster. It's no longer reliant upon them having one person manually filing the orders from the website's order lists, then that person having to go through their setup and get everything put together for each individual order.
Hell, I ordered a Dark Angels Venerable Dread, a Plasma Cannon, Venerable Dread CCW, and 4 sets of Deathwing pads.
They shipped already this morning.

Yes, their tracking has been greatly improved on the website. It lets you know when your order was shipped. Great stuff.

Well I filled out an order for £140 a couple of days before the website changed.
A little less than half the order arrived within a few days, however parts which they said were shipped weren't. So I called them up and they shipped them, arriving the next day.
Then the website changed and my account would no longer let me in, said my username didn't exist. So I mailed Forgeworld to enquire how I could track my order and they did it for me, explaining that the bombard I'd ordered was out of stock but when it arrived they'd ship it express. This was 3 weeks ago.
2 weeks ago I mailed again explaining that I'd like an update as I couldn't check the website, as they'd deleted my account. They said the bombards were due in stock that day and they'd send it out express post. 1 week ago I mailed them to ask what was happening, to be told via reply the next day that the bombards had just arrived and so my order should be sent soon. 1 week later and still no order.
So I'd say it's still pretty much hit and miss from Forgeworld, but congratulations on getting your order within 2 days!

If you are ordering in the US and you get express shipping - whatever is already cast and in the US comes from a US source. This is why you can get 90% of a huge order (or all, sometimes you get lucky) in a few days and hten the rest takes a month - its coming from europe.
Im pretty sure though any time you order in the US you are getting it from the US. Its just if you dont get express it is put at the end of the line, cast, then sent to the US then sent to you. Unless they have a "factory" here, which I dont think so. But every package I have ever recieved has come from inside the US.
This is what I have formulated.

I've had the exact opposite situation: I ordered some Warrior wings and a Renegade Ogryn at the FW Open Day on the 28th March. I received a Runt Bot on Tuesday which I sent back to exhange for an Imperial Armour Apocalypse II.
Almost 6 weeks, and the wings have not arrived yet.

I was wondering the same thing. I placed a large order on 4/24 and got it on 4/27. It looked like it came from the UK, but it didn't have the packing list on the outside like past orders, so it's possible it came from a US source. Regardless, I'm VERY happy to have gotten everything so quickly.

Check the package routing and customs declaration on the address label.

The Memphis facility (when it had a HC and Bunker; but will soon again) carried FW stuff. Could it be that they've been secretly stockpiling and are now shipping common items from there? And why the cloak and daggar? If I knew I could get certain FW items shipped from the US, I'd be on it quicker then a fat kid on a box of donuts and a PSP.

I just recieved the first order I placed on 4/26 yesterday, and the third order I place on 4/27 today!! I couldn't be happier.
And btw, when it comes to FW stuff I usually can't make up my mind, so I make several orders as I change my mind, lol. Regardless, the customer service is amazing, as well as these new stompa parts and weathering powders.

Last February ('09) I ordered about $800 worth of stuff from them, I had it in Salem, OR from the UK less than 48 hours after I sent in the order. I've never had problems ordering anything from FW.

Royal Mail has been quite slow indeed. UPS is a much better shipping method, I'm glad they're taking advantage of it.

I think the reason you're getting the items so fast is the amount of money spent in the order.
My friend ordered a reaver and bunch of other stuff and had it a few days later. However when I order a set of rhino doors it will take a few weeks, nearly a month really, to arrive.

I ordered 2 sets of Krieg Engineers($80 USD) in December and got them in less than a week. How much you spend has nothing to do with it.

You can think that Foda, but you'd be incredibly wrong.
I ordered a Dark Angels venerable Dreadnought with Plasma Cannon/Mk IV Dreadnought CCW and 4 sets of Deathwing Terminator shoulderpads on Thursday, with "Standard Shipping" selected.
They'll be here Monday, according to a friend of mine who actually checked the package at the mail depot(since the mail doesn't get delivered on Sundays in the US).
And that's about par for the course since the site changeover. I ordered the new weathering powders about 2 days after the site changeover--and had them in my hands 3 days later.
The "amount of money spent in the order" isn't what affects the speed.
It's the demand for the item, and the stock levels. You can't be surprised if you're ordering Blood Angels Rhino doors right now and having to wait for a backlog of all the people going to Blood Angels now.

This is pretty interesting - I'd basically stopped ordering FW stuff during 2009 because each order (I'm in Canada) would take 2 months to reach me. I think I'll place a test order on their new site and see how it goes.

Yeah, well there was a point in time where Royal Mail(which was, early on, FW's sole courier) was going on strikes every few days.
That's going to cause a huge dent in shipping.
