Well I was at my GW on the weekend with my friend so for fun we joined in a public game with the kids there, so a guy that works there helped a kid write rules for a commander:

WS BS S T W LD SV
5 5 5 5 ? 10 2+ and 3++

Extras: Storm shield counts as str 5 power wepon on charge
Apocolypitic hammer: str 10 thunder hammer, kills anything on 6 no save or invul from it
Special rules: Fury of Vulkan gains an attack for every wound lost.

Is think this the super over kill because every game that kid played he won just with that charcter.

Depends on the points really.

It's too much, T4 is more appropiate if he's a space marine, probably 3 wounds. The storm shield shouldnt count as a weapon and any weapon that ignores inv saves is a bad idea outside of C'tan.

He would cost a heck of a lot of points, and even then, ignoring inv's is harsh.

It is overpowered. Unless he cost >300 points.

I would take away the hammers ability to ignore invuls, get rid of the storm shield attack, and get rid of the fury of vulkan ability. Then it would be fine.

Theres no suck thing as overkill, but overpowering by mangling rules is a deadly sin.

One word to sum up that Character up... Never.

You are going to need a really, Really good reason for ignoring Invul. saves, and him just having the magic of might on a '6' doesn't work. C'tan get it because they're C'tan...yeah. Warscythes get it because it's made from C'tan metal and I think the old C'tan phase swords got it as well for the same reasons. If there was anything else that ignored invul. saves then it probably had a really good reason for ignoring them to. Invul. saves are ignored by very few things because only a very few things make sense to ignore them.

His points cost 190-230 I don't know I just looked at his profile real quick.

Then no. Most definitely no. I would never play against that if it had 5 wounds, and only cost around 200 ish points. That is ridiculous. Without any fluff to back it up, this feels like one of those things where someone just decided to give a model straight 10s on its stats, witrh no justification.

It's definitely broken, and you either need to tone it down, or up the points a ton.

And this is why making up your own units is a BAD idea, even if you are employed at a GW retail outlet.

That's why kids should not be able to make up character.

But anyway, yeah OP. if you going for a character with TH/SS why not just use the rules for Lysander and make life easier?

Yes, they are, but they're still a separate unit from c'tan and lords.

I agree with everyone here though, this unit should cost upwards of 300 points to make it remotely allowable. Especially since he basically has a force/Str D (toned down) weapon in CC.

This character is stupid. The lack of the Initiative characteristic is stupid. Its rules are stupid.

Nobody tell me to give constructive criticism here; anyone with half a mind on this website realises the stupidy of these rules. I mean seriously, you have to be an insecure little kid who has little skill with this game and an obsession with winning to actually write these rules. There isn't even any justification, and I don't think anything could justify it anyway.

No offense, but if people let him play with these rules, then they're just being stupid as well. And a guy that works for GW helped him write these rules?

I really have little faith in GW anymore. There're reasons I only play amongst friends.

I would say that I wouldn't say a redshirt writing crappy rules is bad. It's not like he's part of the games design team. That being said, I would have hoped a GW employee would be more sensible than that...any veteran player could see that this guy is stupidly overpowered and undercosted.

I think you're reading it wrong -

WS - 5
BS - 5
Str - 5
Tough - 5
Wound - ?
LD - 10
Sv - 2+/3++

I'm guessing it's Initiative 5 as well to keep with the unbalanced aspect.

So to be realsiitc you're looking at scaling it down to:

WS 5, BS 4, S 4, T 4, W 3, I 5 (maybe, at a push), Ld 10, Sv 2+/3++



which is essentially any decent IC in the marine codex anyway.

well i was trying to work out the costing and it came to 302.2 which is a silly number so rounded it to 300pts it would help if i knew the attacks and other statistics though so if you know them tell.

300 and up would be a decent cost for this character as it stands.

This is why you don't let kids make there own characters. They don't understand balance, they want to give it a super statline "Because he's the commander," they want him to have every USR in the book, and then to top it off they come up with the most ridiculous special rules ever.

If you want to make the kid happy, don't give him a super game-breaking unit, just go a little easy on him by "accidentally" deploying to far forward/back, and "forget" stuff like your boys having furious charge or something.

OH thank god it wasn't T10. And 5 on everything is quite ridiculous.

match him up to lysander. This guy (with original rules) ignores invuls, can have up to 5 or 6 attacks (7 on the charge) and has a S5 power weapon.
with my rules, he has on less wound and can't teleport. Lysander's SR's cancel out fury of the vulkan.
against SC's and IC's, this guy wins. He could take out vulkan, khan and shrike at the same time.
