I'm not sure why DA should need a new codex. I just bought one and I tink it's fairly decent (thought I'm not an extremely experienced player)

Look at the Space Marines codex, and compare the point values and options. Now put your Dark Angels codex in the fireplace and keep yourself warm while you buy the Space Marines codex instead.

It's an old codex, there are some things that don't match up with 5th ed rules

It's a bit strange how we had slight necron rumours for months before we got any solid evidence, but the only rumours I see circling at the moment are mainly about 6th edition next year, so I have no idea what they'll do next, I can only assume it will something like BT, Eldar, Chaos or Tau.
As a Tau player I wouldn't mind waiting until early 6th edition so the codex remains current for awhile, I think it might be BT or DA next, but that's just because I would be interested to see what Games Workshop would do with them.

I honestly think Tau will come before the new Chaos codex. It is more severely outdated and has gotten less model love, which (I like to believe) means that they are holding back sculpts for the upcoming release.
It would mess up the xenox/imperial/xenos leapfrog schedule, though. Maybe Black Templars, though I have heard nothing in that regard.

BT will probably be next. If if it's true that Chaos Legions will be in the starter set for 6th, then that Codex will come right after sixth, since they wouldn't use a really old codex like CSM for the 6th starter set.
So, BT>Tau>6th>Chaos>?
Is how I see it.

That's exactly what I'd like to see, but it wouldn't leave much room for a WHFB release. There was a rumour a while ago saying that 6th would be out before the 2012 olympics (end of July), is it realistic to think they'll get round to launching 2 codex's, a new edition of 40k and at least 1 WHFB army book in 7 months?

Black Templars, they were to be released before or after Necrons ( that was on the beginning on the year ). So they are next for sure. Automatically Appended Next Post: Evil Lamp 6 wrote:The real Sisters of Battle Codex.

Well, considering previous releases have gone Space Marines, Imperial Guard, Space Wolves, Tyranids, Blood Angels, Dark Eldar, Grey Knights, Necrons, it would stand to reason that the next codex will be Space Marines of some sort, followed by Xenos.
The most likely progression I see is Black Templars, followed by Tau, followed by 6th edition and Chaos (taking the place of the usual Space Marines released between every codex), followed by either Orks or Eldar, then another Vanilla Space Marines codex. Space Marines get a new codex every edition, but I have heard rumors that Chaos will be released with 6th edition.

I know we're wishlisting, but this is probably the release schedule. You might substitute Dark Angels for Black Templar.
Also, I would say that chaos would be Chaos Legions and/or Chaos Renegades, as I'm really hoping that those rumors are true...

Dark Millenium is apparently pretty BT-centric, so my suspicion is they'll hold back on the BT release to capitalize on whatever popularity boost they can get from that particular MMO.

Personally of DA or BT came out then a 2nd wave for necrons (not a rumour just I feel like it'll happen because of the whole nid thing and how DE where released ) then 6th it would be prefer able as then all the books that came out in 4th ed don't get strong to be comptley naffed by the new rules.

From what I understand, GK and Necrons are written for 6th edition rules, so I wouldnt see why BT or Tau before 6th edition would be any different.

You'll have a relevant codex if it comes out before 6th. Necrons are written with 6th in mind and even have a few hints towards what 6th will have (Monolith is a Heavy vehicle, it makes some distinctions between power weapons and weapons that ignore armor, etc.) so I think it's safe to assume that Tau will be fine either way.

Haven't the main rummor mongers like Harry/Hastings et all been hinting at;
- Tau?
- 6th ed (1st Saturday of July '12?!!)
- Chaos Legions + WD Chaos Renegades list
- Templars
DA's aren't too bad since the faq gave them the equipment & company veteran squad amendments. Their tactical squads are slightly more expensive, but they can min/max their special weapons as a small trade-off.
Their assault squads are crap - about 45pts more costly than their codex counter-parts and they get fewer options to boot! They also lose out on the newer toys like the redeemer, but overall their competitve build/s have gotten better.
Going by the latest rummors, next year we'll be seeing;
Jan: Vampire Counts (about god damn time GW!!!)
Feb: 40k wave. (IG tanks, tyranid gribbly?)
March: Empire
April: Tau
May/June???
July: 40k 6th ed
