Simple really, in your opinion, should the next Space Marine Codex include the Stormraven?*

Yes, because Space Marines will be needing a Flyer for 6th edition that isn't a Thunderhawk.

Nope. Personally, I'd like to see flyers done away with. If the Space Marines simply must have a flyer, I'd prefer it be anything that doesn't look like a dumpster with wings.

Well, it does seem flyers are being added in rather than done away with.

I think something other than the SR would be good, some variety between armies is nice, if your going to have all the marine armies getting the same vehicles and such why not just make it one book.

Dark Eldar- 1500pts Completed
Grey Knights- 1500pts 1 Guy done
Chaos Daemons- Approx 5000pts
Slaanesh Daemons- 1500pts, in progress
Khorne Daemons- 1500pts, in progress
Death Korps of Krieg- Plans being formulated.
---------------------------------------------------
High Elves- Approx 2000pts
Vampire Counts- Raising the dead once more

This is just an opinion poll, we all know the official answer will be "Yes", cause GW wants to sell even more stormravens

The StormRaven shouldn't be in any codex until a redesign of it.

A vanilla dex may be far off, because there are zero hints on a new one. The next space marine codex could be a green or black marines one, and then I hope we get something different.

Says who? GW doesn't publish sales numbers on specific models, so that's just conjecture at this point.

Anyways, I don't think the next Space Marine codex should include the Stormraven. As accepting as I am of it as an "experimental" piece in the hands of the Grey Knights and Blood Angels, I don't think it should be made a general piece. The Land Speeder Tempest would be a far better option for a "Marine flyer".

The Stormraven specifically - no. But I wouldn't be adverse to seeing other types of flyers in upcoming MEQ codices altogether, as long as it had a useful role.

I agree. The Stormraven is interesting, but the Tempest would be pretty cool. If I could get it as a plastic kit, I would buy one over the Stormraven. I'm fine with my Rhinos and Razorbacks having tracks, not wings.

I don't get it, most of the Warhammer 40k mechanized things look like dumpsters with Etc.

Rhino, dumpster with treads. Razorback, dumpster with treads and machine gun. Predator, dumpster with treads and heavy gun.

Leman Russ, tractor dumpster mix with big gun and side guns.

Valkyrie, flying dumpster with wings.

Manticore, dumpster that can launch missiles.

Baneblade, really big dumpster with really big treads and a really big gun, and lots of smaller guns.

Really?
Except the russ chassis, all of them could work in their given role.
The SR however, has a acceptable profile from above but is so bad it would gain a lot of criticism if one posted it as his scratchbuilt design.
What they have done is, chop'd a chopper , glue some wings on and call it a SR.

Flyers don't fit in 40k. Instead of flyers, maybe a choice for any army is an air strike type thing that represents a flyer making a bombing run then flying off.

Stormraven is weird. It's got huge amount of firepower but it's easily destroyed...and it can carry troops and a dreadnaught. And it's pretty expensive.
I've never really seen the merits of a storm raven, it's too fragile to be used as a gunship, it's also too fragile and expensive to be a transport.

Ever thought 40k would be a lot better with bears?

It works extremely well for GKs if you have a Librarian in them for the Shrouding power. One of my SRs has yet to be shot down due to the 3+ cover gained from flat out movement and Shrouding. I prefer taking them over LRs.

To the OP, I'd rather not see SRs all over the place, but the other marine codecies should get some kind of "flyer"

Yeah, I have had many a GK player lose all his Stormravens to my Hydra batteries.

I am surprised some sort of errata hasn't been put out yet for that. Sales have to be slumping off the storm raven, seeing as how only two armies currently field them. That would be the only reason GW would add that to the normal marine Codex.

As long as you don't get within 12" of plasma vets. Or anywhere near a hydra (even with cover you're looking at 1 damage result from two hydras firing). I don't trust anything that can fall to S7 when there's so much of it on the board, especially Guard.

No they have plenty of transports.

If you're gonna give them the stormraven, give Wolves, BA's and GK's the land speeder storm.
