Great to see some more DA out here, and they are great, I love the gothic look to then that you have got with the hard edges and simple colour choice just as the sons of the lion should be! I'll hopefully put up some of my own soon.
I would love to see you paint some Guardians of the covenant- Your blending would really suit their scheme.

Oh and btw do you have a day job or do you just paint all the time??

I gotta' say Les, Lysander looks a little too gloppy. But I really like the shading you're using.

Lol someone tell me what "Gloppy" means? I'm sure paint judges have it on their list of things to look for lol.

I can't fix what is wrong if I don't understand what you are telling me.

It looked familiar so I went back and this is the second time you hit me with the "gloppy" stick.

Lol Les what I mean is that the paint looks a bit too thick so that it looks uneven and bumpy in some areas, such as the edges of the pauldron. But great job anyways, keep us updated. It may just be that the metal model is uneven, but I think it's the paint.

Yeah he was all airbrushed.. so no "gloppy" can happen and I thin my paints way down. More often than not, it's the underlying metal surface.

i can see all the tiny imperfections on the armor around his head in the close-up...
looks like you either need to file more, or give your metal minis a milliput wash before spraying...
some deeper shading may hide the bumps on this guy (Lysander)...

personally, i just file the hell out of my metal stuff, until it looks smooth as can be...

cheers

Yeah but Jah you are perfectionist. I'm painting these models to sell for about $$45-55 each so if I go over 2 hours of work into the model I'm losing money.

For competition I agree that you MUST fix imperfections of the model but with time being an issue it's just not practical. Thanks for the feedback guys. Good and bad it all helps

Yeah, metal models tend to do that.... Why does GW even make pewter? It's more expensive to make, isn't it? Or do they just want a reason to drain our money.....

"Oh, well it's a special character, so it can't just be plastic. That's too plain and boring. Oh, and by the way: the pewter will cost you an extra 18 bucks. Thanks for flying Games Fething Money Horde Workshop!"

It's actually cheaper to make a metal miniature than plastic mainly due to the molds that are used. Plastics are made by cutting the sprue design into metal plates. The molds/plates are then subjected to a vacuum and the plastic is injected into the mold using specialized equipment and allowed to set. It really takes a lot of money to cut molds like that. GW make their money be producing many copies and selling them. If a model isn't expected to sell well enough to make a profit when done in plastic, GW has them made out of metal instead.

I really like the lightning claws on him.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!
