Core infantry has always been problematic with GW regarding updates. I think the turning point was the release of the Necron Warriors in 40k about 10 years ago. Since then I think the chances are much better.

Skeletons would be more than welcome, but since they just re-updated the AoS Vampire Skellis, I am not sure.

Still hoping for the best.

Ps: Empire knights might even be older.

Those guys are great, certainly put the old ones to shame and a nice evolution into classic looking chaos warriors.

Well those are LOVELY.

But also, Nooooo! I need the old Marauders for a bunch of conversions I need their bits for. Guess I'm finally going to bite the bullet and grab a box before the disappear.

Wow, those are incredibly good. Are these brand new sculpts? I don't remember many good Marauder sculpts from GW, and I've always looked out for them because I like the archetype a lot.

So remember in the past when i said that I had it on good authority that TOW chaos warriors were going to have lighter armor than their whfb/AOS iterations?

Well, looks like I was incorrect, I did not think these would be marauders.

Note there's no side-by-side with a Warrior. I fear the scale creep will make the warriors look tiny.

Absolutely superb. A nice adoption of the AoS greater detailing in a rank ‘n’ flank friendly posing.

Absolutely love them, perfect designs

In hindsight though, man, Tomb Kings really keep getting shafted with the plastic updates, huh. Throw the Skeleton Warriors a bone, or 206.

I like them ok, they are what they are. It would be sad to see the horseman kit go (the old one) as its one of the best kits still available for parts for projects, where as the news ones look fine but I guess they will have 'modern tooling' for the parts (meaning no separate arms/weapons/horses)

I would love it if those background huts were a new plastic kit though! I'd buy like 10! They would also work great for MESBG for my huge orc/evil human collection! Trying to match them up tough, it does look like the leather/skin is not the same, so it looks like they are custom terrain builds by someone rather than a kit. Shame. We need more decent plastic terrain options.

I was thinking that the other day if theres one mini that would count as Conan in GW catalogue what would it be?

They look amazing! Honestly even better than most of the recent AOS releases for me.

I think this increases the chances of Tomb Kings Skeletons at some point in the future by a lot. I mean the old chaos barbarians were almost as old as the Skeletons.
And it is the first time since the ToW release that a core infantry unit is updated imho?

The guy who's quite literally Conan from the Darkoath Warcry warband. Also these look nice. Wonder how well they would blend in with the existing Darkoath range.

Wow. I liked the look of the AoS darkoath marauders, but these guys are just better.

I think so - most of the other new releases have been character models or centrepiece things like the Bone Dragon.

There were also the very pretty Knight on foot for bretonia but this is core infantry!

I dunno why, but these guys don’t do anything for me. There better than Darkoath and the older kits, but these just don’t do anything for me

Maybe in person they’ll be better

Those maruaders look really nice and remind me of the hill tribes from Game of Thrones.

Spoiler:

I'll echo the concerns about the potential scale creep as, like Jon Snow, I know nothing about the base sizes in Old World compared with classic WHFB. Are those the same size square bases they used for decades?

Just looked at GW’s website to see what marauders were for sale, and was shocked to see those old guys. Not only are they ancient, but also horrible models. Not enough rose colored nostalgia to make them look good. They cannot have been selling many of those old kits. Especially since “feral warriors from the cold north” is not exactly a bespoke niche of minis that only they were providing.

Wow. Best miniatures GW has ever released in my opinion (and for my tastes).

Blow the good Darkoath out of the water. Dual kit so you’ll get lots of interesting pieces left over.

The Darkoath are strangely weedy, but these look like they will have table presence. I’m going to buy boxes and boxes and boxes.

Largely, what was 20mm is now 25mm and what was 25mm is now 30mm.

Also, these are great.

Ironically, Marauders are not one of the 25mm that switched to 30mm. They're still on 25s.

Funnily enough, even though the core skeleton bodies were released in 1998, the actual Tomb Kings Skeleton Warriors kit came out 6 months after the Chaos Marauders. (The horsemen in turn came out six years later with the phenomenal Warriors of Chaos refresh in November 2008)

Back to the new Marauders though, do we use this reveal as the springboard to start spamming requests to see the Chaos War Mammoth get retooled and returned?
