LOL, acid rain? Nope, just a big monster made of cardboard.
Actually I'm pretty sure toward the beginning of this thread the mastermind of this awesome project said that the cardboard is only a base for a layer of fiberglass.

Maybe some built in fans would be a good idea Could get pretty toasty in there with fiberglass.
Awesome work! Definately gonna keep following this one!

make sure you place it where your eyes would have a viewing slit or it will be pretty wierd walking around with the wrong perspective.
Oh and also, just imagine you wearing that at a halloween party or something, you've got plenty of attention due to... well..... you're dressed as a dreadnaught, and the camera somehow fails.
I can see the complete chaos you manage when trying to handle the situation blind
I am speechless due to the amount of awesome ambition in this thread... Good Luck...

I think I don't want to believe you can do this, but it's really because the awesomeness would be unbearable. A fiberglass, detailed, electronic, scaled, dreadnought costume wins you Awesome of the year.
DreadnoughtMC wrote:Jabbakahut youll see how possible it is in a few days
Didn't you say earlier in your thread that this would be to scale? because judging by the pics you showed however cool this is no were close to scale.
Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!
Call me dense but I can't see how you are going to move in this thing. If you use pneumatics to counter the weight you are going to have to fight against them to move. I think you will end up with a great looking, but static costume. Good luck though.
het if it don;t work it will still make a great model/satue if you paint it up nicely. still i am waiting of your pics with you wearing what you have done! cant keep me waiting D:

My only questions are how are you tackling the weight issues? I mean a 12 foot tall construct made of cardboard and fiberglass will not support itself. The top will have tremendous weight impacts on the legs which will colapse. You would need a metal skeleton. Is this thing going to be electricly operated? As in cameras and a coolant system? Without a coolant system any electronic compnents on inside of what is in esence a nut shell will fry before long. Building it 12 feet tall will require an insanely complicatly and expensive electric and hydraulics system that would coast you upwards of 5k USD. There is no way to move it on your own without electric and hydraulic assistance. I am very much curious as to how you will acomplish these feats and how you have the necesairy amount of money to do this. This project is quite literally impossible within such a short time you need to fabricate a metal skeleton need to wire it and so on and so forth. Not to be a naysayer friend im just pointing out true issues that will need to be tackled to make a working 12' dreadnought costume unless its just going to stand still all day. Even in that event you would need the skelton frame. Id say a project like this is very much acomplishable with the right crew and money supply and close to at least 2 years of work. But please prove me wrong. Just make sure that whatever proof you provide is tangible and not something i could photoshop on my spare time.
Lol for those of you who are worried of the weight issue lets put it this was the weight of the cardboard usually doubles after being fiber-glassed right now the actual torso is exactly 6 pounds so the torso should only weigh 12 pounds + so if i do it right it the whole suit should be only 130 pounds max which is only 10 pounds more then my original mc armor
If I was you I would forget the pneumatic springs and spend your effort eliminating as much weight from the costume as possible. ie instead of solid fiberglass panels maybe just a fiberglass frame with paper or fabric panels. just my 2 cents
Dreadnought MC, I have to say that you're the coolest member of the entire Dakka community. You remind me of Luffy from the manga Onepiece: Everybody keeps saying that the stuff he wants to do is impossible, but he just walks up and does it!

MC armor..... We don't carry that much into a fight it end up being more like 70-80 pounds. If you ahve that much you were a POG!

I keeping thinking along the same lines, depends on how it turns out though. 5 pages on a thread with one idea and a couple photos is quite impressive.
