Thank you Neil.
I don't know if I can give you any tips, as I am in the learning process, but ask away if anything comes to mind.
Took a look on perkustin, and it was a good one. They have a red/orange hint, which these won't get.

And here is a picture to prove that I have done something today.

First layer of flesh is done and the main colour of yellow is also done.
Next up is painting all the leather and the shiny metal.

eveing neil!^^

hey gerner

well i think drybrushing just the edges of the armor would be enough... no full steel clad armor for them...that would be too posh in my book...

second layer done...wanna take a look!^^

and some colors have it in them to really demotivate us... yelow is among those... too many layers needed for a crisp look...that is a bugger...

Thanks Vik.

I was thinking that highlighting would be the best after a quick internet search.
Do you think adeptus battlegrey will do the trick?

And I got the first layer of brown added.

Suggestions on what colour the priests hair should be and ideas on how to paint the non-armour metal parts are very welcome.

You will also notice that I changed the models a bit.

ok...you said you added the first layer of brown... i think we need to see a daylight pic.... the flash has killed all details...

as for the highlights with grey...yep that will work...

as for the priests haor... i´d just add some grey too as a means to accentuate it a bit but keep it basically black... as this mini has a lot less black and thus could help to tie him in with the rest of the men...

Some good points you have there Vik!

I have sculpted a hand symbol on his back of his vest, think I will paint it black as well.

welll that symbol is a rather secretive object as you seem to have not want to share it with us but yep...i think doing that one in black will be quite fitting! and the non moving marts of the eviscerator (probably spelled wrong) should be black too?

Hey Vik ;-)

Yellow is looking wicked Gerner, is it the new yellow that goes over black ?

And I agree with Vik , the beard would look best black , with highlights, imo. although that might change as you add more highlighting to the models.

well i had no other clue to the haircolor as fluff and color of minis don´t really determin much the color of the hair otherwise...

@Vik: Not because it's secretive, but because it sucks.

But here is the picture of the hand and khorne symbol I sculpted. They are a bit hard to see since they haven't been painted yet.

Think I will make his hair charadon granite, as well as the eviscerator (that you spelled right).

@Neil: Nope, it's good old Iyanden Darksun, two layers and this is the result.
Dark grey/black it is then.

hand symbol reminds me a bit of saruman´s hand but i think that is a good connection^^

after washes and more layers and so on the whole mini will look completley different anyways...

Thanks Vik.

So a tiny update.

I have re-painted some of the black parts on all of them, and now I have also painted metal on half of them.

(They look a lot better in person.)

Remember they are not finish yet.

I feel like I need a complementary colour for the weapons and tubes, but I'm somewhat blank what colour I should choice..
Any ideas?

So painted metal and black on the four left:

Now I need to paint a few spots of red and grey, and tidy some areas up, and then washes will come.

if you need a complimentary color...i´d suggest going red... for weapons that is always a good choice...blue and green would be too far away from the scheme and you shouldn´t go for yellow on these too... other colors i exclude without even mentioning them^^

what else will you add to the metal parts?

You want a very dark black-grey for highlights on black armor. I 'm not sure about GW's new line, but Flames of War makes a Dark Rubber color that fits perfectly, also Vallejo makes several shades of black-grey. Alternatively, you can always mix your own. Either way though, one highlight is never enough, you should always use several.

@Vik: I will try to get some red in there as well.

dsteingass wrote:Either way though, one highlight is never enough, you should always use several.

Damn it! I think I will try with some adeptus battlegrey and codex grey.

A crises have hit me! I traded Zaamel for several of the chaos decals so I could get some khorne symbols.
BUT, the khorne symbols are black, like their armour.
Now I am quite unsure what to do about it.
Maybe paint the decals red after they have been applied or paint the edges in a dark grey?

A good thing is that I have noticed that I have a lot more brush control than when I started, and that I don't have to strain my self as much to paint the "hard" spots.

well there is always the option to make your own decals...i think there is an extensive libary at B&C in their download pages... you will find there under garantee the stuff you need...

Making my own decals? That sounds difficult.

Added some red and a layer of Ogryn flesh. I will give them some more washing and then highlights.
The wash doesn't show too well on these pictures, which makes me feel like giving up on them.

I soon want to be done with these, they are starting to get annoying..

oh.... if they start to annoy you...then i suggest you do something inbetween... i dunno if finishing them too quickly would do them justice...

when i see the chest armor of your powerfist wielding sarge i say you have created a nice theme... you shouldn´t go cheap on the timescale now... as for the washes... well some washes i have found out are pretty hard to get good results... have you ever tried inks? i even have a yellow ink...maybe that could help you? i dunno... if that could help you i could give you a spare one i have...

@Vik: Very true, but I think it's everything that annoys me currently. You might be right, I think I will give them some more love today.
Nope, what ink brand have you using? I have several of the washes and I'm pretty happy with them, but they are sometimes creating paint lumps.

@Swampyturtle: Thanks, I'm glad you like them.

A bit more done today. Chipping, new wash and more love on the bases.

well...when ever i can get a hold of one then i grab on it for the hell of it^^

as for the new update gerner... everything looks good... one minor issue i have tho... the buttstocks of the lasguns... you did them in red... that looks fishy for me...well iot is only on the priest but still i think that red there is kinda weird?

Made in dk

That is not a lasgun, but a shotgun.
Could be true. I didn't want it to be simple metal all the way, and didn't feel like a wooden stock would be appropriate.
