$1,000,000 and a 50% discount

I'd wait until seeing the price before opening the wallet.

If it keeps open: great.
If it contains more paint: awesome.
If it's higher quality than before: fantastic!
If it goes from $6 to $10 overnight: dealbreaker.

Though I have to say, any change which means that the lid of the pot does not randomly twist off is welcomed.

With more in the pots I suspect that they will be more expensive. If they are comparable to other manufacturers (PP and Vallejo) and the quality is good then they may well get me back as a customer.

Naturally I'm not holding my breath.

For comparison:

Vallejo £1.75 - £2.00 17ml
P3 £2.25 - £2.50 18ml
GW (Current) £2.30 12ml
GW (New) £?.?? 18ml

My guess is the new ones will be about £3.00 - £3.50 a pot. I am prepared to be pleasantly surprised though.

That would actually break the GW trend of less in the pot being more expensive. *looking longingly as my soft plastic hex pots*

Given the current cost creates the illusion of being similarly priced despite being a smaller pot, I don't see them going up too much. £2.50 would match the typical 5 - 10 % price increase we normally see and then would match the top end of P3's line. Straight £/ml would put an 18ml pot at £3.50 with no increase :( As for those who say GW paints are crap, their washes, foundation paints, and metallics are better than Vallejo and P3 from my experience. Would go with P3 for more of my paints, but one LGS has been waiting for months on a restock and another that just opened couldn't get a display. Not a big fan of Vallejo's droppers. They have some nice colors, but hate having to squeeze out my paints drop by drop.

Those are just p3 bottles with citadel labels.Or at least it looks that way. I doubt they would make their bottles look so similar to a major competitors

Well, it is possible that someone faked it. Esp.as Vasarto said it will be Vallejo bottles. On the other hand, the HMG Ltd makes paints for P3 and Coat d'Arms with the same bottles, so not impossible that they make Citadel paints with the same bottles.

Those are the pots that Citadel paint used to come in too. back a long time ago when they introduced colors like scorpion green and warlock purple.

Hopefully they go back to these. I still have my original pots of the two colors above and still use them quite often. That puts them at over 20 years old...

I wouldn't be surprised if one thing they're doing is going to narrower pots to save shelf space (or jam more paint colors/types into a rack).

I believe if it was a container change, then they would gradually change pots, similar to how they did the recent change. By asking to keep low paint count, they are preparing the stores to have newly manufactured paints delivered. With a new paint manufacturer, every paint would have to be switched out at one time. This does make sense considering the last metallic paints I bought from GW where so watered down that it was pretty water with metallic flecks in it. I attempted to trade in the paints and much to the store operator's surprise, every dwarf bronze was similar.

In my opinion the quality of the current manufacturer is not acceptable to GW.

Please, please, please let them be improving the paint pots. There are certain colors (I'm looking at you, Chaos Black) I use straight out of the pot, and I hate having to fiddle with the lid every time I go for more paint.

Droppers would be okay, but well-constructed flip-top pots would be my ideal. That's admittedly only because I thin colors in the pots and then dole them out straight onto the mini. I use Vallejo for controlled amounts (and opaque coverage) and Citadel for large volumes (and more translucent layers (which is odd since Citadel Color costs more than Vallejo...)).

What I wanna see more of!

1. More variety of paints to include fantasy type models as well. Like more shades of green like scaley and special colors just for "HAIR" of different browns black and blond and orange etc.

2. More WASHES! I wanna see ten new washes!
I love washes!

3. The Return of INKS!

4. Better bottles and NOT squeeze bottles.

5.The Return of the OLD GW Tank Brush! This new tank brush is a POS and no one likes it at all!

You mean the Large Drybrush? As there is no "tank brush".
The large drybrush is great, everyone in my immediate gaming circle uses it for so much stuff- pretty much every model I paint gets a base coat using it...

Personally I would love to see them release more colours, not reduce them further - there can't be that many colours that don't get used much. They definitely need to release an Ogre flesh colour - most if not all the other races have a flesh tone, why shouldn't they?

I would also love to see a return to the old P3 style pots - had many of those, and never had a pot dry out. Dropper style bottles would be OK too - easier to get just what you need & easier to mix paints, as 1 drop = 1 part.

I guess we'll just have to wait & see what happens here, but whatever it is it will probably mean taking another hit in the pocket.

There used to be an actual wide headed paint brush they called the tank brush. It wasn't a dry brush type head. I had one that I used for terrain, tanks, large areas, etc. It was great.

You can get something comparable from an art store. It doesn't have to be an expensive brush for areas that large.

OMG it's not like they were the only company that made a wide brush ever.

The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.

17-18ml dropper bottles at about the same to +20% price would be ideal for me, except for the washes...those need to stay in pots. I could stomach pots for their other paint if they cut the viscosity of their paints by about half, otherwise I'm already transferring them to dropper bottles anyway so I can cut with water on the palette.

I asked my gw did they have any order about sellin out their stock and they said they haven't had any orders and they are stocking as normal.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

Just a quick FYI, those pots are also used by Forgeworld to supply their rebranded MIG powders.

So it's not to unreasonable for GW to use them too.

Wow, yeah, good observation!

If there is some purchasing control in house over volumes of the pot, then it would make sense to unify supplies.... if it is contracted out, there may be complications to doing so, but internal purchasing/inventory management could really make this feasible. Interesting!

Also with all the 25yrs of 40k stuff going around, those pots are very retro. Another factor is that you can't easily stick a mini on top of the current pots.

BUT I MUST HAVE THE GW ONE THAT COSTS 5 TIMES MORE!

I don't understand why anybody buys GW supplies. The miniatures I undestand, but nothing else.

Oh how I miss the big pots of Ral Partha paints. That was a big pot of paint at a good price.

Well the old bursh was called the Tank Brush. It ws Round and had a semi pointed tip. This new Large Dry brush with its flat tip and bristles is just plain horrible compaired to the old Tank brush that GW had.

That was the majesty of the "tank brush" that GW Used to have and discontinued for a brush they now call the large dry brush.

Broke out some Vallejo the other day to use some colors that GW doesn't normally have and was reminded why I didn't switch to them. Can't get consistent colors and no matter how hard I shake, get a poorly mixed stream of color. Trying to get a couple drops and get a giant squirt. Friend brought up why he stopped using them. The dropper cap can come off. Squeeze too hard and cap shoots off spraying paint everywhere. Any container capable of catastrophic failure that sprays paint everywhere is a deal killer. Hope GW doesn't switch to the dropper pots.
Would like to use P3 more, but my LGS still hasn't been able to get a restock
