If they were simply discontinuing certain colours then they wouldn't be advising FLGS owners to sell all their existing stock and be prepared for a significant outlay.

Hate to say this but it all points to smaller bottles and a price rise with maybe a minor pot design change (probably something like adding that small tab that keeps the lid open on foundation paints but is missing on the regular ones).

I would expect a reduction to 5 to 8 ml range and a minor price adjustment up of 25%

They already do this. All of the newer pots are lacking the small catch that was on the Foundation pots so simply cannot stay open. Fething annoying trying to get paint out of them it is!

Though I only use GW for metallics it is still daft...

Changing paint suppliers eh? Last time that happened they reduced the volume in the pot and put the price up.

They do that with everything Howard. Gaunts, Guardsmen, Orks, lots of Warhammer regiments whose names escape me. Less product for more price is GW's MO. Don't act surprised that they'd do it with paints as well. We're lucky that you don't have to buy two separate halves for the GW clippers and put them together yourself!***

I get that you don't like it, I think its poorly implemented as well, but bringing it up at every opportunity is getting tiresome and adds nothing to the overall conversation. There is an entire thread dedicated to that discussion, I believe.

Ah c'mon. Can't you tell that n0t_u and I are just joking around? We don't actually think they'd release a new set of paints called FineCoat (great name n0t_u!!!).

Besides, after the FineCost debacle, it's not that GW don't deserve it...

Anyway, yeah, buy pots of Devlan Miracle now, in case they make them go away.

***No, I'm not being serious about that.

Yep, just playful joking I actually dislike all the complaining myself. Rather neutral on Finecast as I've yet to even see any models made of the stuff for any of my armies I don't already have in metal, conversion, don't need or simply (in the case of SoB) doesn't exist.

New pots for CItadel were introduced with manufacturing going to China. It returned very fast to England. Maybe they now found a permanent solution.

Think this could all be a conspiracy to drive sales, and when they come out with this new formula there's hardly anything new about it?

I would LOVE for GW to put their paints in a dropper style bottle. Right now I am in the process of switching over to Vallejo, but it is annoying because I have to buy Vallejo online vs being able to buy GW paints at a shop down the road.

I think I will stock up on Devlan Mud and Badab Black however, just in case something happens to those washes..

H.M.B.C, you're a bitter man, but justifiably so IMO

I'm expecting a 2ml bottle and a 100% price rise. Lids will probably be sold separately

Runnin up on ya.

Thicker paint to fill in all the gaps and air bubbles.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

Optimism will get you nowhere.

Expect single use brushes with a small supply of integrated paint.

I never made the switch to Valejo because I'm a geeb that wants the color names from Citidel (as I have poor color recognition, and would make a terrible sensor-servitor)... But I love the droppers.
I HATE the new pots, not because of the missing tab, but the fact that you can't take the lid off, and be able to put it back on, without making a mess (my wife can attest to how many times I've tried).
I love the dropper bottles, and as geeb as I am... I currently buy Citidel paints, and transfer them to droppers that I get from "The War Store".
I would love it if they switched to just putting them in droppers.
If they increase the price by 25% and lower the amount of paint by 10%... I'd still be saving money over the current situation, so... Meh.
Not that I in any way, shape or form endorse the idea of getting less for more money, mind you... Just that it wouldn't affect me as greatly.

Take that for what it's worth.

Of course they can't confirm it?

For what it's worth, the information also talks about how paints can still be restocked--but not in the same way as normal. Usually paint restocks are done in boxes of 6 for the color, but they are now being done as single pots.

Ask an independent retailer about it, rather than an official GW shop(which may be getting the same restock method for awhile due to differences in volume of sales) and see what you get then.

They probably wouldn't say anything official until they have depleted old stocks.

Unfortunately it is the case that quite a few people won't buy the old product when the new is available. My old LGS found it slow to get rid of the older black lids when they released the current clear lids. Even though the contents are the same and he had the older, lower price on the older paints. Plenty of customers wanted only the newer ones even though the older paints were only a matter of weeks/months older. Dumb but true.

I found alternatives that are reasonably close, but I still prefer the GW stuff.

Have you tried Coat D'Arms, which are the old colours in the old-style pots with slightly tweaked names?

I haven't. To be honest, I probably won't because I'm pretty picky; I find every paint line has their own weight, dry time, coverage, texture (plasticy vs. chalky) etc. I find when I switch paints I have to actively focus on adapting to the properties to blend and shade properly, or to use as a wash, or the detail it will allow. That changes painting from relaxing to "work". Yeah, I've got issues

I do appreciate the suggestion though!

I believe Coat D'Arms was GW's supplier for paint for many years. They know the original formulas because they made them.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.
