A long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away...

I'm still eyeing up some of those Heresy gangers and they'll become a must by when Specialist Games is up and they re-release Necromunda (as rumoured) - really great sculpts. Nice work on them LT, doing them justice. Should also post some images over on the Heresy showcase board on the Forum of Doom

@Briancj:

@Ruglud: Ditto, really nice sculpts and casts, you should take the plunge!

@JJMelo: Will stick to putting them up here then,

Brief interlude (can't remember the last time I got some painting time during the week, summer downtime FTW!), started with a quick zombie-job:

Not much (and even worse pics) but happening!

Thanks for dropping by.

Not anotber zombie thread! Looks good though.

Gangers etc all looking amazing. Good to see you at it still.

Worry not, those are just a quick(er) job among more serious painting projects!

Not to mention terrain, there's quite a few unfinished (some even un-started!) things over on that front too...

Zombies are finished now, normal programming will be resumed shortly.

Camera really does not like them.

A rather quick (for personal standards) job, nothing fancy, but decent enough for a game.

Groups of three/four seems to be turning out as a good number for batch working; usually paint is already dry on the first one when the last one gets done, allowing for some sort of "continuous" work on the lot, without getting overwhelmingly - and potentially tedious - too many.

That'd require some note-taking for consistency's sake when colour schemes coherency is required (On the gangs, for example), might have to get serious about that too.

Rambled enough, better go grab a brush.

C&C are welcome.

thanks for stopping by.

I think I've been here before. Here like in ...it's been a month/two months since last post, real life, work, got distracted, whatever... getting back into it post.

And it is still true (Summer, off-time, getting the new year in gear et-al, all bite off from hobby-time), and yet, something got done, some more started but still WIP (eternal problem hereabouts, it seems), and plans and ideas are still coming, so here again.

First in the list, 'cause they are done, the last of the Delaque Gang, one more heavy and some crewmen:

(Sunshades' rims have been cleaned up a bit since. Pics are overlit, but minis are already packed for delivery, will have to wait forr theiir chance for some decent shots)

Put together a Basilisk, but kept the options open (Gun platform is removable):

Heavy stubber, turret hatch and Earthshaker breech are movable too. Not news on paint for this one yet.

Last addition to the painting cue, an Ogryn test model:

Mostly done except for the flesh and touch-ups, might tackle that next, though that would put it dangerously close to being actually finished...

And that's about it for now.

I did some buying here and there - compensating not having hobby time with hoarding supplies. And I got some presents too: amazing how, even at my (ancient, according to certain standards, like the Cubs', for example) age, getting toys for your B. day still beats clothes!, but none of that has touched the workbench yet.

Thanks for (still) dropping by.

Cheers, and Happy Easter!

LT

Bas looks good so far.

And interesting Ogryn!

Thanks, Cam.

Heavy's concoction, sorry, conversion, is JMMelo's; I just coloured the guy!

Forgot to mention, Basilisk's HB is magnetized, in case I get around to play and want to swap for a (didn't get one, so I'd have to build it first) flamer instead. Or, if I don't play it, just for having the chance to play around with some magnets!

As for the big 'un, I built this one as-is to get a feel of the model, but I might try something a bit more elaborated (not saying when, mind you) with the rest of the kit, for kicks.

Lots of catching up to do too.

Cheers!

I can't help but think that there should be a pair of braces or something on the front of that gun. It's just so huge that it doesn't look quite right being held casually by a rather sparely built ganger. Heck, even the space marine scout heavy weapon comes with a bi-pod for the heavy bolter... and that's no where near as ungainly as that gun & is being held by an augmented marine!

@Red H: Visit's through, all is well and calm again . Aye to more building and paint, will try!

@Graven: I know it's going on, and I'd love to join in; just hate doing so and then dropping out; again, I'll try!

@Gits: Agreed. And a third brace behind, keeping him from flying away from the recoil !

Ogryn's done, base and all, but camera's dead, hopefully I'll be able to take some decent pictures once batteries have recharged... (No promises, though, )

Cheers.

@JMMelo: Thanks! Delaques are all packed up, ready to go home! And yes, current Militarum Auxilla Bullgryns/Ogryns Kit. Built as a base Ogryn, no add-ons (Saving on bits, )

Calling it done:

(Now that I see it this close, might have to add some colour to the eagles on the bracers, )

Started on the next pair of the Not-Escher TGG too, but didn't get far enough to be picture worthy yet.

Thank you, Gents.

Yesterday I thought I needed a tree, so I tried to put one together from sprue, and a torch, a la Camkierhi:

Clipped some rods, cleaned up a bit, grabbed three long pieces in the vice, lit it up, and twisted them around.

It came up a bit too short for the idea in my mind, so added a rock beneath for extra height. Shapped and distressed it with a Dremmel (trying to erase some of the more "obvious" twists in the process), and reheated. Lastly, I filled in some gaps:

And this is what I wanted the tree for, dry-fitted:

[

As seem in the bottom left pic, fitting the birdie's feet to properly grab the branch took some work. I re-separated the feet from the legs, soften them up with plastic cement, and curved them around the branch (bottom right, properly blurred to disguise the detail loss) before calling it for the night.

I'll try to resculpt/carve a bit of detail back into them now (lost to the cement and finger-pressure meltdown while forming and glueing) and drill pin-holes for reattaching the legs, preferably after painting.

I was thinking I could try to drop this one in a a late entry into the Dakka (Unofficial) Painting Challenge Round 14: April 2016: The Relic (Maybe somebody's unfortunate hero, hung out to dry, could be considered a Relic by someone?)

Sadly, there'll be no priming today, raining again, so no idea when/if it'll get any paint on.

Comments and critiques are very much welcome.

Cheers.

Thanks, Cam, you sure did. Plenty of material for inspiration, copy and blatant rip-off in your work!

Edited for awful typing.

Thinking about grabbing a brush, or maybe chopping some plastic. Ahh, decisions...

@Dr H: Optional extra from the Ogre Kingdoms Thundertusk kit. Vulture too, it's from one of the alternative Ogre rider arms, with the bird standing on the wrist, falconry-style. I shaved the feet from the arm and repositioned them on the branch).
