Really Nice work mate !

I find painting bright colours the most difficult , if its dark and murky you can hid a lot of mistakes !!
Your choice of colours leave little room for error but you carry it off really well !

The NMM on the orc is also pretty damn good in my opinion , like you say its a choice really , I like it over true metallics , I'm just not good at it !
If pushed it think the scale armour doesn't carry it as well as the rest , but the rest looks superb.

Hey, Have been reading this thread for like half an hour now, and gathered you like replies not views. So, here goes.

I love the kroot, Really nice work mate. The weathering, the posing, the basing...It all comes together very well to create that 'in the jungle' feeling.

Awesome conversions, only let down by some mold lines (1st figure, meat hook and grenade/pouch), gaps (1st figure, right shoulder, front) and lack of drilled barrels (personal choice). When doing such awesome work, it just pays to go the extra mile - and I know you are capable!

Hey arakasi! Good eyes! Those mold lines escaped me, thought i got most of em. Good to know youre looking hard! Easily fixed though, i dont see the one on meat hook. EDIT:: now i do

The gap, less easily fixed, we'll see, the severity might be amplified by the angle of the photo? Maybe tell me what you think once paint is there? I suppose i could sculpt it even but i havent had to with any of these previous yet.

Gun barrels, i usually drill....the pulse carbines though, for some reason did not beg to need it. Not really sure why it struck me this way.

Hey Guys! So yeah im alive. Maintaining areally busy tour schedule! Next week im going to singapore then after that brazil! Really excited Anyways, got my desk set up in new york city! Nice!! And as many of you know, Minus won the best painted scheme so i have ro take it upon myself to paint a model in minus scheme. Well i stated that it would not be an exact copy but very very close...and...seeing as im painting a squad leader, ive decided to take a little liberty and make it slightly more ridiculous. The pink armor plating in Minus' entry is now..pink jewel plating. This is a very very very WIP shot and ive been painting all over the model..nothing is really finished, TONS of cleanup to do and many stages of blending left. But you can see how its coming along. I wanted his left shoulder pad black because of the free hand im going to do on it. The Right one...will be a big jewel.

DUUUUUUDE! that model is already looking amazing! :-) i'm blown away by that face and we all know how I love faces !! not to mention the armour! what a delightfully creative way to approach it and it works so well! it's going to be a stunning show quality model when you're done man! simply breathtaking even at this stage :-)

@Mordain: You can do it Its only three colors! Black, White, and Xerxes Purple. And alot of mixing...and red/purple glazes...

So. Heres more WIPP shots. I went with a more aqua green osl than minus used simply because thats more my palette. Did more work on purple, the face...the osl is solid but needs a touch of tidying up before im satisfied. It may be that i over did it but i dont mind it much. Also scrapped the idea of the jewelled shoulder because of the pose of the model. Also added some NMM to the rank patch on his arm. Id say im around 50% done. Enough talk. WIPP!!





And a much bigger zoomed in pic so you can see all the mistakes and touchups needed 50% done!!!

Jeez. The jewelled armour is spiff as. And the purple fatigues are quite... um... lustrous. A very deep, rich colour.

I'd love to see a whole army done up like that.

Um, does he bleach his hair, do guys bleach in the 40th? Just really dark beard and complexion for a blonde. Please don't get me wrong, he looks perfect. And I mean perfect.

Why are the bullet hole green?

Um well... I saw it on a mini that was " just shot by plasma" . i liked it. so i did it. It gave me something different to do to break up the armor and add a color i wanted to add. I take it you dont like it? Or....?
Cam, youre probably right about the stubble being darker than his blonde hair color. I wanted it dark to be a bit more exaggerated; comic booky. I think the affect is strong.

I actually thought it was an 8 until I looked at an older model. I think it needs some inner glow or something, looks a bit strange to me atm. I think the idea is a cool one though, so I hope you figure something to make it pop a bit more.

Hmm inner glow...yeah that makes sense...i dunno...ill revisit it. i kinda just "did" it...didnt really think about it...i liked the color so i left it. I wanted something bright on that side of the body and i didnt want the bullet holes to just be chipped. its supposed to be like burned rings from the las blast or something.......hmmm.....ive got an idea though...it wont come till later...

No i really like it. I like Minus' scheme and i'm really digging your interpretation of it.
