Feathers? Why would you give feathers to Skiitari?

I want to say Dan Abnett's book describes Skiitari as having a lot of tribal markings along with their high-tech weaponry. I thnk Mechanicus does as well. I believe somewhere in there they say some of them are wearing feathers.

Before I could even say it, he said that it was (he believes) going to be Imperial. The more I think about it the more I think it is going to be Ad Mech. In the last year we have seen three Black Library novels that involve Skiitari (Titanicus, HH Mechanicum, and HH Fallen Angels). I envision plastic Skiitari kits with tons of weapons options as well as feathers and all kinds of extras.

Abnett's book also had Skiitari performing at near Space Marine levels in terms of raw combat ability.

A bit more that the 'weird looking guardsman with a lasgun for an arm" that you've been seeing for years...

I've got high hopes for the eventual Ad-Mech Codex.

I'm not sure why I do, but I do!

All that means is that Skitari are relatively better than Guardsmen and unaugmented humans.

Like, say, Halo's Master Chef

I'd rather see Forgeworld do Adeptus Mechanicus than GW. Not that I don't trust GW to do them justice, but I don't trust GW to do them justice. I think we'll end up with far more interesting models and vehicles from Forgeworld. GW is likely to do something more minimalist like another very straightforward Leman Russ variant or something in that vein.

From a rules stand point Skitarri are probably equal to Marine scouts, having recieved some but not all of the same sorts of augments. Unfortunately having lasguns for arms do not make the lasguns any more effective.

The Skiitari in there are way, way more than that!

Perfect time to get some more catachan love, what with the last film only being released 'recently'

Codex: Sly Marbo

the battle force is essentially a Sly Marbo figure and trees, lots of trees, in your deployment phase you put your trees on the table and sly can move from tree to tree each turn without being seen

Aren't Skitari essentially 'borgs? They start with small augmentations and end up as a brain in a tin can inside a fully armored android/walker/crawler that can dish out damage comparable to a tank.

Depends which Admech fluff GW decides is canon this time. Tech Guard were the same as IG, just extra augmentations and better equipped, I think Storm Troopers were used as an equivalent for the how well equipped. You don't get massive augmentation unless you are an adept of the cult, and the grunts wouldn't be. Their equipment is the same stuff as the guard, just higher quality. The experimental stuff isn't mass produced, so its just guard with a couple toys. But GW could easily throw all that out anyway so who knows. Guard have ultra-rare Executioners all over and every minor SM engagement involves a chapter master as it is.

I am torn if I actually want Admech because I have been converting an IG army and its just more stuff to buy.
If it is, I think it would work best as an allied army similar to Inquisition anyway. Admech and Inquisition wouldn't be side by side anyway.

No, I don't read GW fiction.

I won't argue the point that Master Chef is worse than a Skitari, much less a Space Marine.

The Master Chief was enhanced anyway. All Spartans were taken at a young age. Trained in the art of war and combat. Then when they reached maturity they were biologically augmented and enhanced to the point of super human reflexes and strength. Sounds familiar? They are the video game jock version of the space marine. Only in the Navy instead.

Somewhere in south-central England.

The game does not need a new faction of any kind.

There are currently five alien and several human factions awaiting renewal for 5e.

Any completely new faction just dilutes the effort spent on the existing factions. The only reason to do this is for GW to sell a new range of models. (That's exactly what they want, of course.)

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

I don't know I always thought the game could use a really generally slow moving, tough, and short semi-alien race. They'd kinda have similar weapons to imperials but with a slightly different slant. If it weren't for Space Wolves they could certainly have that viking slant. I guess they might always go the route of artisan creator craftsman types with a bit of trader caravan tossed in. *cough*cough*

There's already so many great themes and armies in the game now.. necrons for undead, tau for anime, elves, bugs.... there's really just no original ideas left except for maybe the pan fo.

I'd love to see an CODEX: INQUISITION. Update and combine the old DH and WH codecies with a combined codex and remove the whole allies thing from the lists, there's no option to give imperial guards, space marine allies so why any others, I say bulk out the list to be standalone... I'd also like to see astrates aribites back, my poor models have been sitting on my shelf now since 2e.

As for a new race there are always possibilities and I'd be interested in what they come up with, but I will agree with the majority and say NO MORE IMPERIAL factions. I can just see it now introducing Transformable mecha (it's a walker - but that was last turns it's transformed now into a skimmer, but only until the end of the movement phase - uh oh!)...

LET SQUATS RIP!!!

Don't get me wrong. I am all for them updating the stuff they have out. But this is a "what is the new race thread". Don't step on our pipe dreams because you have a blood vendetta have to try and force it on everyone else here. WE can still dream.

This generally slow moving, tough, and short semi-alien race you speak of. Would they be squatish? Much like midgets? OH! They could employ a Squat Launcher! Short, stout, mean jerks flying through the air wit ha battle axe. I would be down.

I partly agree with a combined Codex: Inquistion, to some extent. The non-SOB, non-Ecclesiarchy parts in WH (e.g. Officio Assassinorum operatives, Orbital Strike) should merge with DH to make a proper Inquisition list. The Inducted units should be redone entirely as standalone units of "Inducted Guardsmen" and "Seconded Marines" and easily gives the Inquisition enough units as a standalone book. That just leaves Inquisitional Allies as an issue, which should be limited as a strictly limited Guard option, only (i.e. "an Imperial Guard force may take up to 1 HQ and 1 Elite choice after fulfilling any mandatory requirements").

That would totally break the game. It'd be worse than Daemons being broken in WHFB.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Agreed. Plus, if it is furry then all template weapons should auto wound and cause instant death regardless of strength.

My guess... A combining of WH and DH into a single codex.

QFT

As if on cue, you hear two people singing from the stairwell, and the door is opened and a pair of very smelly, very dirty guardsmen stumble in, completely drunk, and covered in vomit, and immediately collapse unconsious on the porch. You drag them to their beds, realising that they will not be waking up for some time.

Haha awesome!

Cheese Elemental - I don't game anymore (though thinking of getting back into that side of things) so I don't know how broken the daemons are, but you gotta admit, it'd be priceless to just set up a forrest on the board as your deployment phase just to see the look on your opponents face!
