Well, I didn't mean to suggest that you had to do him for your boys... You should stick to your theme. I was just musing on the topic in general. Your wallet is safe my friend... at least from that idea!

You should make a speech bubble for deadpool out of plasticard. Make sure it's yellow.

In all seriousness, the deadpool conversion looks amazing. Although maybe you should make him with a knife stuck through his head.

So I have a couple of WIP pics of Walks-in-Shadow's legs, again these are cut down legs designed to give him less bulk and more movement.

I figured the thick shin/ankle armour covers a reinforced joint and as I have cut down the armour there I added a peice of plastic rod to represent the joint.

and don't worry they don't stick out as much as it looks like in the pics

On other news I have decided to scrap my experiment in biggerising a set of legs as they ended up waaay to long and thin, and next to the other marines the pride leader looks like he is wearing stilts..so I am thinking of picking up some terminator legs and seeing if they will work out, anyone had any success using termie legs to bulk up a normal marine?

Cheers

BLACKHAND

Hey man, that's exactly what I've done with my Vanguard model. Give me a day and I'll take a side-by-side pic and post it for you.

I love the ankle joint. Good thinking and well done.

I wholeheartedly agree with you about the models. They are moving away from arms and legs sprues for the orks/goblins and beastmen too. It's lousy. Are you listening GW? No? :/ didn't think so...

Anyhoo, great work on the torso in this new model, too.

thanks for the comments guys, I'm glad people are liking the torso.

No pics this post as I spent the short time I had last night GSing "purity feathers", teeth, beads and other native american gubbins on to legs and torsos, nothing huge but its the little touches that will make them stand as a chapter in their own right as opposed to standard tac marines with a different name.

Cheers,

They're looking really good so far and I can't wait to see the recent GS work you've been doing. I totally agree that the little things will set these boys apart from other chapters.

All the best,

Hey, true-scale/ embiggened/ biggerised (etc!) marines look sweet with termie legs. For some great examples check out Migsula's Alpha Legion, Sersi's True-scale black templars log, or Apologist's 'Praetor's of Calth' log for a detailed how to. Good luck and I eagerly await the results.

Oh, and I musn't forget to say, great work!! The whole concept for these marines is amazing!!

Blackhand, here's the pic showing my Vanguard prototype with terminator legs vs. a black reach marine w/ normal legs. Unfortunately the vanguard melted after a week in pine sol, but you can see the size and mass comparison, and I know you've seen the unmelted figure on my blog. It gains you 1/2 to 3/4 head in height and considerable mass. I do not like the reenforcements on the legs though and plan on filing them off in the rebuild (they completely destroy my ability to blend the colors by over-compartmentalizing the leg armor.

Thanks splitta, the pic helps (bummer about the pinesol ) I will probably end up taking out the supports as well as I plan on adding a disc of plasticard to add even more height. Have you tried a product called "simple green" for stripping plastic, models never melt, I've had some marines in it for like hree months and they are still whole.

@soupdragon - Thanks for the comments, I think we will have to keep in contact as both our chapters progress. Best thing about Dakka is being able share ideas like this.

@vitruvian - I'll definitely look up those threads, I had heard you need to begin with termie legs when scaling up but now that I look at the results of lengthening nortmal marine legs I understand why. They just don't have the bulk to upscale well and if you are using like $10 worth of GS to get the shape you want you might as well start with termie legs anyway

Cheers, better get back to work,

BLACKHAND

Did you ever come up with a chapter name?

I plan on getting a couple more of the marines painted up so the look and feel of the chapter is more defined, then posting my chapter name choices and taking a vote..with final veto power in my hands of course

course that means if anyone has anymore ideas you are welcome to post em!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Progress!, got some actual pics for you tonight.

First off, a shot of my version of a "purity Feather" a dark angel style purity seal.

Walks-in-Shadows Lioncloth, complete with sabretooth trophy, I may add a few more bone medallions yet, I'm not sure.

Another Sabretooth, strapped to his left leg, He sure likes his trophies!

Next is a head shot, showing his black warpaint covering the lower part of his jaw.

and another shot of his que (warrior braid)

Only worry is that his black hair makes the black warpaint look like a beard, I am thinking of making his hair brown rather than black to differentiate the two.

What do you think, Native American enough? while still retaining an Astartes asthetic?

C&C very Welcome

Cheers,

BLACKHAND

Very nice Blackhand... just like your other models, very characterful! He look very resolute.

And yes, I also hate automatically amended posts... I usually go begging for a bump...

looks nice Blackhand. I like the teeth but the man pony tail thing needs to be a different colour, just don't let anybody cut Walks-in-Shadow's hair or he can't go back to the forbiden city, even if he gets the Emperor's gold back.
