BLACKHAND wrote:No worries Santobell,

I've seen the pads before and they are pretty tempting, they would be great as a contrast to any Sabre Toothed Lion hides I drape over the marines but at the moment I have a power armour and termie armour pads of my own design made up so I will probably only get the scibor pads for an honour guard type unit....which will be long into the future at this point

and for anyone that is still watching the thread I have picked up an AoBR Dread for the Legion as well as a drop pod so once my Skaven project winds down sometime in the next decade I will have plenty of plastic for the Sabre legion!

If you need SM bits let me know I could post you some I'm not using any of my Space Marines ATM and with Dark Eldar on the Horizon I probably wont be for some time.

Damn you Lennysmash!!!!

Yeah you heard me!

So I came home this evening, ready to get some work done on Gitsplitta's Mantis Helmets then finish some plaster work on my second 40Skaven chimera...and I found a package in my mailbox.

Innocently I opened said package, quite excited actually as I saw it was from my friend Lennysmash and was hopefully some lascannons I have been looking forward to receiving. I have a Vendetta design in my head for the 40Skaven that is just aching for a bunch of heavy lascannons....but not only did I get the promised lascannons but also a very generous gift..very generous! I have nothing on hand to send Lenny to say thanks for the very cool gear he sent but he did add a note to the package with the "no pressure but I expect great things, lol". I figure the best way to repay him will be to have fun with the model, still in keeping with the Sabre Legoin, but fun.

Now I have an image in my head of Wolverine riding a harley along a highway, definitely from a comic I read when I was younger, and after half an hour scouring the net I just couldn't find anything like it (damn hugh jackson and his stupid riding a stupid bike in his stupid movie!) But that is what I'm heading towards, a lone rider cruising the wilds looking for something big to take down, the wind in his oddly shaped hair, cigar chomped in his teeth

So here it is the bare bones of my Easy Rider...

Oh and here is the sick resin bike base that Lennysmash also sent me..too cool man , way too cool.

Thanks to the generosity of another Dakkite, I'm looking at you Whalemusic, I have a crapload of DA bike pouches so I will be loading up the back of the bike with them and will probably replace the t/l bolters with a stormbolter and mount it on the front wheel arch instead of on the handlebars as I want to keep it slim an modern day bike looking rather than bulky and SM bike style.

Well I will let you guys mull it over and decide if it is worthy of Lennysmash's generosity and whether this is the right direction while I try and concentrate on Skaven and Mantis Warriors...honestly the damn bike is looking at me while I type, finish me Blackhand finish me!!!!

Cheers

OH-I Wanna get out of here

Looks good so far. Excited to see you drilled the pipes on the exhaust, never seen anyone else do it before. Remind me when I send something else your way and you can have a bunch more pouches.

*raises hand*

I do that for my son's attack bikes! I also drill all the barrels out for our assault cannons. (I love my Foredom.)

Looking sweet Blackhand, can't wait to see it come to fruition!

Looking good BH, loving the extended front forks. Important I guess for copyright and such to point out the the base is not my design but one from ebay. I just felt it had enough savannah potential to be incorporated into your army easily.

No need to send anything else, I sent the bike as fair trade for the quality and quantity of bitz you sent already.

Glad you liked it, looking forward to more, as in full ten man squad more, lol. joking don't worry.

I was considering extending the exhausts but thought it might look too orky so I just drilled them out and left them.

Of course I didn't stop after posting the pic like I said I would so I will post another one tonight with the headlight and pouches in place, I sliced up a stormbolter for the wheel arch but I'm worried about WYSIWYG so I may end up mounting the T/L bolters on the wheel arch to save on confusion.

Funny thing Lennysmash, I read the space wolves codex again last night and found that the units that can take a bit different, he will probably end up in a mixed Lion Guard unit as weird as that is.

I personally use the pintle mounted storm bolter from the rhino kit on the front arch although I have also seen trooper bolters used as newer versions of the T/L bolter, both look pretty cool imo.

If WM has sent you a ravenwing faring maybe you could GS a pelt over it, just a thought.

@Lennysmash - I will take pics of both bnolter systems and let the Dakkasphere decide I think. As for the pelt I iwill probably end up draping one over the back of the seat with a head attached.

@Sageheart - Thanks! I promise not to let the Sabre Legion die off

Yep, Space Wolves all the way!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Here are a few pics of the Logan head I am playing around with,

next is the bike with its new headlight and stormbolter......

...and with the t/l bolters, which do you think is better?

and this is the packs loaded on to the back of the bike, it will probably still get a pelt draped over the packs ad the seat. I also need to add some boot rests to replace the bulky base plate the bike comes with, just by taking it off you change to the whole profile.

Thats all for tonight!

C&C welcome of course

Cheers

The Cigar could use more work but the hair looks great.
Not sure I like the bolters on top of the front wheel though.

But but I must finish my Skaven... the parts to build my airship will arrive soon.

I wonder how hard it would be to shorten an entire SM army to fit Logan's short and grumpy MO

Khorne list would be good option for the Wolvie army

No no no Skaven first Khorne Berserker Wolverines after

I vote for the stormbolter, it looks more in place than the big twin bolter imho.

Wow !! Your work is fantastic !! I really like the way this army has taken shape. Very characterful !!

My only quible is the bolter location on what, otherwise, is a really cool bike. I think they look out of place on the wheel housing and might look better mounted on the sides of the forks up near the handles (unless you plan on using a fairing). Another option might be to mount them on the sides of the wheel housing at the hub (with a pivot mount).

Stellar work !!

Ok so I may look at mounting a stormbolter under the headlight, I am still trying to keep away from mounting guns on the sides of the bike to keep it's slim "harley" type shape.

@Anung un Rama - I realize the cigar is just a lump of GS....but its so damn small!! honest its like 2.5-3mms long!! I intend breaking it off and reglueing it tonight in a better position as it is not quite in his mouth as it is

@Santobell - Come on man! Who doesn't want like 10 armies on the go at the same time Ok so I only have two armies and a bunch of commissions but sometimes it feels like 10. I would love to see a stubby "Weapon X" style armour, course you would have to fend of a ton of squat army rumours
