So having decided to attend Games Day, I set about finding out who and what else will be there - basically I wanted to know what cool stuff I could go and look at on my lunch break. I was particularly interested in what the Studio were taking, I'd heard rumour it was something never seen before. Now normally I can pass through the Studio without incident but this morning I found my way blocked by Studio pit bull Matt Toone. Now, just in case you think me a wimp for turning back at the first hurdle, I've taken a photo of Matt to illustrate his scariness.

So whatever's going on in the Studio its ultra hush-hush. But don't worry, I have a plan - at some point they'll have to move whatever it is from the Studio to a van and when they do I'll be waiting....

All the energy put into secrecy could actaully be used positively to inform the customer what is happening with products.

I ain't going to buy twice as many codices just because it has been kept under wraps for twelve years then SURPRISE! looky here new shiney codex.

I tired ordering some stuff for my DE as well, couldn't find anything that wasn't discontinued....GW seems to be the only site that even has DE stocked presently.

You do realize that whining ad nauseum about GW using a tried and true marketing strategy isn't going to get them to change it,right? I'm sorry if you feel it's "disrespectful" for GW not to tell you all their plans/projects months ahead of time,but if you consider that "disrespectful",then you must feel disrespected by just about company on the face of the earth.

Funny but Tamiya have just announced their release schedule for the month and new releases to the end of year will be at a show early October. So yeah, I feel that every other company is being disrespectful of their customer base.

The reverse is true. GW are the only company I can think off that behaves this way.
TBH I am not overly concerned whether or not DE gets sorted out or not. I am not overly concerned that they are being disrespctful to me. What pees me off is that they have been pulling the wool over eyes from people like yourself who seem to have very little practical wordly wisdom, but far more so that there are people on this forum that have been stitched over year in year out waiting for a much needed revamp for there armies. GW was perfectly happy taking the cash off gamers for their army, which got screwed over.

So yeah I feel like whinging again and again when I see apologists making fallacious statements defending the indefensible.

Maybe if we start a thread called "Who lives nearest the most hot tail and how GW is screwing you by not releasing some model you want" we'll get some Dark Eldar rumours.

My gripe was that there was a link with no news but some nonsense regarding sneaking around the GW offices. How is that more valid than a questioning of GW's non news?
That sneaking around may have bugger all to do with Dark Eldar releases. That hardly seems On Topic.

I am complaining that there is no news, when there is no reason for there to be none.
I was also pointing out that other companies don't fart around with cloak and daggers but do indeed release schedules.
As far as I am concerned that was the end of it, and I apologise to John Hwang who it seems was correct after all.

All we need is a person on the inside willing to take the fall for leaking DE pics before GD UK. They'd actually be doing GW a favor.
Every day that passes without DE news, GWs popularity dies a little bit more with the people looking forward to the release.
Once upon a time I planned to buy a couple thousand dollars worth of new DE stuff. At this point, I might get the codex. If I have to wait much longer, I'll forget about 40k entirely. That's just what happens when fans are kept in the dark for so long about what's going on. Nature takes it's course and people move on to better things.

@Archonate: I'm sure GW has more than made it up in additional Space Marines sales...

If GW is smart they'll make the DE kits compatible with the Eldar kits so they'll actually cross sell boxes to a large play group (Like.. space marines which is their best selling range!)

I find it very amusing that the vocal DE player / would-be-player-if-GW-only-did-an-update / would-be-player-if-GW-only-did-an-update-by-Jes-Goodwin-and-Phil-Kelly won't actually buy when it's possibly finally going to be "put up or shut up" time... Perhaps this kind of thing truly vindicates GW's decision not to have bothered updating the model range in the previous several years, nor releasing new models. And, of course, this sets further precedent for no Lost and the Damned nor other stuff which used to have lists, but now isn't supported. Nice job.

As far as compatibility goes, the old DE Warriors were Guardian-compatible. But please, let's not have GW make 8-part DE Warriors, just because they can...

And the DE rumour thing? I think it's stupid of them to not foster an online community with sneak peaks etc. but I don't think it's _insulting_ to the consumer. That's just internet hyperbole. GW could argue that they're saving the big announcement for people that paid to go to UK Games Day (assuming anything happens there), or that things just weren't ready yet.

What can I say? I'm just not as excited as I used to be. I've explained many times that I used to be incredibly excited about the prospect of new DE. But as the only army keeping me in the hobby, how long is the laughable current DE codex and model range supposed to keep me interested? It's been years since I last played 40k. If GW doesn't care about the one army keeping me in the hobby, then neither do I. I'm pretty much already out. This release could potentially bring me back, but the longer they wait, the less likely that becomes.

...Of course, had they released some pics of new DE, I'd have been much more likely to maintain my now quickly deflating enthusiasm.
