Albatross, your vocals didn't sound nearly how I pictured your voice

Sounds great.

Seems like some pretty good stuff. If you don't mind (I'm doing it anyway ) I'm going to post my thoughts as I listen to the tracks. I'm no music expert though, so I'll likely get a few musical terms wrong here and there, just bear with me - we music heathens can't be expected to know all your fancy words

1. Annihalation. (Craig Connelly Remix).

Not much seems to have changed here, bar a bit more synthyness on the backing. It's a little longer than the original as well. I liked it.

2. Pressure(d? what is this D doing in the title?) (Gristlemix)

Wow. Where have your vocals gone? Everythings drowning in bass synth! It's got a completely different feel to it, and it's a lot deeper in tone. Not really my thing, but it's got an interesting sound to it.

3. Enough is never good Enough (Reina Lamour's Itsuki Lounge Remix)

Ooh, birds and waterfalls? I don't remember them being in the original! Lots of Synthy noises here, and you seem to be using the word 'Enough' slightly more than you did the first time round... It's a lot more electronic and (I lack the correct term) trancy than the first one. Still, not a bad listen overall, but probably not one I'll be hearing regularly.

4. Hospital (Craig Connolly Remix)

The original was already quite electronicky, but this one has taken it in an entirely different direction. The opening especially sounds like the backing track to a lycra-suited safe-cracking scene from a film. Again, I lack the words to describe the musical style, but it sounds good, and I'll likely listen to it again.

5. Scars (Lewis O' Brien Remix)

Sorry to say it, but unfortunately, I don't like this track at all. It was one of my favourites from the original, and it's lost something, I feel, in remixing it. What's with all the computer noises and the quieting of your awesome Vocals? Full credit to you for making the track in the first place, but the remix could have been better. That's all I really have to say about that.

6. Hospital (From the Kites of San Quentin Remix)

Plenty of Synthy weirdness here, which I don't really enjoy in huge amounts. That's a matter of personal taste though, as all of this post has been. Still, it's a nice take on the original.

In conclusion:

Good Stuff! Keep up the good work chaps, although I'd certainly prefer some new stuff over remixes. Overall, I give it 8/10. (9.5/10 for the original)

I guess we'll never know. That is, until Frazzled releases his long-awaited solo album 'Touch My Weiner'. Then we'll know.

Incidentally, there are a fair few musical Dakkaites aren't there? I know FITZZ plays bass, and Guitardian was in a band that had a deal and did pretty well. There's also folks like Shadowbrand and Rubiksnoob (IIRC) who play instruments, amongst others.

Perhaps we should turn this thread into a 'Promote Your Band' thread so everyone can have a go at posting their music? What do you guys think?

@DD - Thanks for taking the time to analyse it mate - just to point out, I didn't have anything to do with any of the mixes; the raw tracks were just given to the remixing bods to play around with. FACT: 'Scars' on the remix mini-album is assembled entirely from audio off the original track, which is mad when you think about it.

Quite well done sir.

I know how much effort it takes to create your own album if you're not using to doing it (The first few times I recorded back in high school for various stuff, it's a hell of a lot of work), and this is beyond that, creating a professional-standard album instead of something you can just show to a few interested people as a snippet.

Once again, I salute you.

Sounds like you put alot of effort into it and it is very polished, kudos to you for making this available for free.

Didn't like it though, but it is really not my cup of tea. Sorry.

But I can appreciate how much talent you have regardless.

I'm enjoying the music sir. Here on the left coast there is a revival of vocal driven electronica, I will definitely be passing this album along to my friends.
I'm particualarly enjoying "Pressure." It's my fav so far.

Hi folks, just thought I'd update interested Dakkanauts on a few recent developments:

We are in the final stages of negotiating representation in the shape of management/record label.
We've been in talks with a small local indie label/management/PR company with a view to them representing us. Just a few little things to iron out, but the plan is to release a single this summer, supported by a small tour, press/TV/radio etc. The single will be chart eligible, and recording has already started.

Here's a video of our keys player working on the outro:

Please note that the vocals are only a guide track - the final version will feature an autistic children's choir and a brass band. Seriously.

Downloads are going very well.
We were approached by a leading torrent site to be their featured artist for a month. They interviewed me, and have placed the record on the front page of the site, which has around 150,000 users. It's a community which is heavily accented towards emerging bands sharing music with listeners, so nothing too dodgy - I guess they just liked what we were doing with the whole 'gratitude box' thing.

Anyhow, this week we received 8000 downloads. Crazy. We've also heard that people have been seeding it on other torrent sites, some as far afield as Russia! In reality, the total number of downloads could be much higher. There's no way to be sure.

Only problem is, for some reason those people aren't joining our social networking platforms in very great numbers, which is quite strange. I would put it down to people simply not liking the record, but the response to it on the sites has been overwhelmingly positive. I can only conclude that people are paranoid about about their affiliation with file-sharing sites, and so do not want to reveal their identities by 'liking' our facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/?sk=messages&tid=1167282438964#!/pages/Dresden/190817380944216), joining our group (http://www.facebook.com/?sk=messages&tid=1167282438964#!/group.php?gid=111025802286939), our following us on Twitter (http://twitter.com/Dresdenmusic) - although to be fair, we *have* only just created the Twitter account.

Other stuff....

Oh yeah, our bass-player made a video for one of the songs on the record, 'Annihilation', using old stock footage from cold war public service videos. Check it out:

For anyone who hasn't downloaded it yet, the record is still available from: http://www.dresdenmusic.com Pay as much as you like!

And finally, thank you all so much for all your support - everyone in Dresden ( the band, not the German city) has been absolutely blown away by the level of interest shown in us by the good people of DakkaDakka.

I joined and liked your facebook stuff. Don't have a twitter account, so I can't humour you there.

And for people feeling scared about being affiliated with file-sharing sites, don't worry. Your browsing information is generally already available to the highest bidder anyway, so even if you don't have it on facebook saying you're affiliated, someone probably already knows what you're doing anyway.

Bugger all to be honest mate, we mostly have dodgy clubs where really bad dubstep and hiphop is played or the equally dodgy "furnace" which is almost exclusively for angry white kids and terrible metal. Best your going to get is the oasis centre though again its pretty shoddy as its mostly a leisure centre with the occasional music event (fun fact, the band oasis named themselves after the place after/during a gig there).
