Sorry yakface... since it was relating directly to Ice's wargaming project I though it would be OK. My bad.

+1 So so true xD
OT; Really liking that devastator Ice, especially the highlighting on the scope, very nicely done indeed, keep 'em coming!
P.S: One thing I would pick up on, are you going to leave the aquila on top of the banner grey? Or are you going to paint it in a more traditional gold at some point?

Thanks Sandyman! The aguila on top of the banner is silver and I think I'll leave it that way. The Star Phantoms always wore very dark drab colors, even their turquoise seemed very subdued so I don't think they would have had a gold symbol on their banners. I think had that banner been from some of the other chapters that would have been a good idea though. After doing this banner I now have high hopes of making others so keep an eye out for the gold aquilas in the near future!

Ice Angel demands pictures! lol, how are you going to do the airborn thing? Use wire? The standard clear plastic bits? The hidden wire with some sort of "smoke" effect? Or perhaps clever placements of ruins or bodies or trees nearby? So many options!

LMAO, by the time I had posted this you had already added your picture, thats fantastic!

I using chapterhouses jumpbacks, as they look more like the one in the past. I'm using roleplayers jumppack painting tutortial. Most likely just wire. Still work to be done. More detail work. Paint the jumppack is like painting another figure. Yeesshhh.

Oh man, your guys are coming out great. All you had to do is show me the checker pattern and I'm sold. As for the jump pack flying base thing, I had to show you these.

These are some of my OLD Ice Angel Death Company models. I made these guys for my first Grand Tournament, good lord that was a long time ago. They are the closest thing to flying that I've gotten and as you can see, not all that great. I think the wire thing can work better, but you need to have a nice base to work with. Put a dead Minotaur on there first before you add the wire. Also, don't put all of your models at the same height, that always bugged me. You already have some dynamic poses, but if I were you I would try to do something a bit odd with at least one model, like maybe a Lamenter dropping the body of a dead marine as he slides of his sword. How cool would that be?! You know, something that wouldn't require the wire but still give the flying effect.

I recommend staying away from the flying base pillars... they break off frequently and then you're pretty much screwed. Have to drill out little pin holes to fix them. I think the wire is a good idea. Remember these will have to travel a long way & will probably be handled roughly at the tourney.

Nice stuff SL... they look beautiful!

Ah ok, sorry it looked grey in the picture Never heard of the Star Phantoms, not sure what they're colour scheme is, are you planning on painting any up, ie, as detritus on bases etc?

@Solar_Lion: As to the Assault Marines I think a simple wire painted black would serve admirably. If you try to go to lots of effort with trees and ruins and such to disguise the 'flying' effect, I think it would detract from the model/unit as a whole, there would be too much 'going on'.

I'm not the baser you guys are. I usually keep it fairly conserivitive. Black wire sound good. anyone got any examples?

Ice.. Love the horizontal marine ( pole vaulter? ) Did you weight the base?

I was hoping to have my IA 10 book to look at the minotaurs livery. Has anyone already recieved their copy - In the USA?

Why yes, he is pole vaulting at the moment and yes the base is weighted. I would also like to add that that death company model killed Jan Zar (spelling) in that Grand Tournament. Pole vaulted that eldar douche right in the face!
I think you should paint the minotaur the old way not the new IA way. The old minotaurs had their yellow and red stripes, they were aggressively obnoxious. My Astral Claws and Gits MW are painted the old way, it would only be fitting.

If you need a good reference check out the bell of lost souls Badab download. lots of good pics and info.

I actually got some real painting done today so here is my latest WIP, a couple touch ups and he should be good to go.

And because I was super excited about having a completed unit, here is a lovely group shot!
