And we don't have that now?

And for God's sake, stop calling it Warhams. You sound like some teenage girl talking about her favorite star/starlet combination of the week.

@infinite_array: It's a dialect of English known as 'Channesque', specifically from the /tg/ region. It’s a bit like ‘l337 sp34k’ in that it’s spoken by two groups of people:

1. Those who think they’re clever.
2. Those who do it ironically.

Doesn’t take a degree in rocket science to work out which ol’ Worglock is.

Ah, and here I was wondering what that horrid smell was that wafted from my computer whenever I saw one of Warglock's posts.

It's 'Chanstink'.

If Hasbro were making Warhammer we'd be seeing action figures and pre-painted models.

Don't be so sure. A bunch of the hasbro guys used to play 40K at my store.

"a bunch of Hasbro guys" doesn't really mean that much. They could have been the janitors and had no actual input into anything other than sweeping the floors at night."

You think GW is bad with Kirby and company? Your head would spin if Hasborg got their claws into Warhams.

Actually a bunch of them were design staff/conceptual guys. A couple of them had some sick 40k conversions.

A few more were toy painters (paint prototypes/test models to be sent out for mass production facilities to emulate) .

A few others were heads of teams/departments (once of which was big in the transformers team and another Star Wars).

In general they had awesomely painted armies, with cool conversions, and loved the game.

Maybe try to put your e-peen away and not be so doom and gloom...

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest!

With all this said, I actually don't know why GW doesn't license action figures, t-shirts, etc. I would think this would be an excellent way for them to increase profits.

Why indeed. It makes one wonder why on the release of one of the biggest computer games of the summer in 'Space Marine' the company isn't doing anything to draw more players into stores to pick up GW games.............................

........other stuff.............

Yeah, they should be stuffing their stores to the gunnels with Space Marines to tempt in the games fans, prehaps even at the expence of other races............now wait a gosh darned minute?

Is the assertion, then, that there is a proportional link between the relative costliness of one's army, and the seriousness with which one takes the hobby?

I meant in terms of marketing outside of the limited confines of a GW shop. As it is, you can't even pick up a WD in WHSmiths any more, and there are no crossover games (such as Space Crusade/Heroquest) which are purchasable in toy stores. Considering the new opportunities for advertising opened up by the internet, the footprint of GW is unbelievably small. I think it's quite possible for large quantities of customers to pick up Space Marine, and have no conception of W40k beyond 'that nerdy game or something', which I think is a massive missed opportunity.

Well, obviously it shouldn't just be Space Marines, but there's no denying that Space Marines generally are the most appealing to the masses, so it would make sense for their to be a disproportionate amount of Space Marine merch. But that's a bit beside the point; you'd think they be using this Space Marine game to hype the ever-loving gak out of their tabletop game... but they're not.

Or Merchandise! t-shirts, lunchbags, posters. George Lucas is a multi-billionaire today because he was smart enough to cut merchandising deals with the original Star Wars, instead of just a cut of the movie profits.

I'm astounded you can't buy t-shirts made up to look like different chapter armour.

As soon as jackets with padded shoulders come back, this will be released.

Although if any budding dakkanauts fancy starting a little business with me, with GW's permissions and equal rights to profits, speak up!
