The Void Shield thing is kinda neat, but it seems a bit overpriced.

I would have liked the craters if they hadn't, as always, assembled them with Dead Cadian© spackle.

Even if this stuff was likeable, and I think some of it is slightly likeable in a sick, perverted way, the Void Shield Generator is ostensibly the size of a bastion for twice the cost. Would it need to be $150 or even $200 to wake you up? Hear that, GW? Troll harder next time.

Some people like this stuff, just because you don't doesn't mean it is bad or trolling. Heck, H.B.M.C. loves the void shield generator and has made it known. I'm thinking of getting one. You don't like it. We get it. (Bonus points for implying that people who like this release have to like it in a sick, perverted way. )

Re: Price,I'm pretty sure an Imperial Knight is the size of a bastion for three times the price. Guess what, GW stuff is expensive. It keeps getting more so. That really has little to do with trolling though and has to do with their pricing schemes (which are crazy).

So maybe pick some new words that aren't totally overplayed and inaccurate? How about "I do not like this Void Generator. It's price to value ratio is insufficient for my needs. Also, I am not a fan of the design aesthetic. GW has missed out on a sale this time."

You know what I like about you, pretre? You have a great sense of humor and are really good at not taking posts about overpriced toy soldiers too seriously.

I don't question whether or not there are folks who absolutely love the VSD. As you mentioned, there's always at least a few. At the same time, it's not hard to tell it's a minority position ... and why that's the case. And then there's the price tag. It gives a very strong impression that folks in Nottingham are gathered around a table wondering what customers absolutely won't buy.

Really? Because to me it looks like you're trying to make a case for your opinion to be the majority position, and a self evident one at that, from a very small pool of data (namely this thread). As we know from constant discussions on an issue, the negative voices are generally louder than the positive. You shouldn't assume just because of 'This release makes me want to buy bolt action' that the majority of players dislike it. Even if you did assume that, it is a big leap to think that 'GW is trolling' from 'a lot of people dislike it' which is what I was calling you out on.

And then there's the price tag. It gives a very strong impression that folks in Nottingham are gathered around a table wondering what customers absolutely won't buy.

GW will keep raising them as long as it works. And from the look of how well a lot of the limited editions have sold (that have been derided by the 'majority' of people as just slipcovers), they are right to.

It's clearly a minority view overall on here,

but a lot of the 'no' votes have come from the 'old guard' who have either moved on entirely from GW, or who only pick up the odd bits and pieces on ebay

(although I agree it's hardly a well prices, well designed kit)

And IRL as far as my gamer buddies. I don't think the topic is serious enough to warrant a gallup poll. But the VSD does clearly fit into a line of WTF releases from GW, with the major exception being that this thing is astoundingly overpriced even for the latest GW Eyesore©®™. With the dreadknight, storm talon, khorne mower, centurions, and taurox, I just figured -- eh, I just don't like it. Seeing a pile of skull-encrusted vehicle kit bits stacked up for $100, however, feels more like being made fun of.

With the added bonus that even all those that want it wont be able to buy it because, you know, GW can't possibly provide people with what they want, that's just a path to crazyness.

I appreciate the price is patently ridiculous, but I think publishing rules for an object in an unlimited format, so every player can buy it, whilst creating just 1000 of the object to sell is about as stupid a concept as I have ever witnessed from a company.

It's a technique they developed through Black Library, selling a crappy short story in hardcover for ridiculous prices. Making garbage seem exclusive is a great way to sell it.

It doesn't make any sense at all. Less, even, when you consider the court case they're still fighting.

Straight up baller. We need an orkmoticon with a gold grill making it rain.

Maybe there will be a one-click collection to buy like ten at a time. I guess not, it being limited and so on. Does GW ever do limits per customer on such releases?

It's totally bonkers. There's got to be a subtlety to this we haven't seen yet - like resin is limited but they're doing a plastic run later? Or it's limited if you want it in a "lavish box"? Something. It can't really be this stupid. Right?

Otherwise... yeah, this is extremely stupid, even by recent standards. Couldn't care less about the price - GW is expensive, it was ever thus, it shouldn't surprise anyone - but this was a *horrible* choice for a limited edition item, any way you cut it.

Well because if this GW has got some money from me, I ordered a bastion kit from element games so I can combine it with my bits box to create something far more aesthetically pleasing. Why they didn't do a one sprue plastic add on for their existing kit I'll never know.

This thing doesn't even have those lights in it, why does this cost this much?

IIRC, from my Adeptus Mechanicus days, didn't the titans themselves have void shields as equipment on the larger vehicles?

Craters are already on from the foam cutter and some sand and glue, This "Void Shield Generator" looks like something I could cobble together with some foam-core boards, and some wedding cake pillers, add in a couple of lights in some ping pong balls, and call it a day. I'd even throw in a baby skull from Halloween for a drivers seat.

I'll crank out a few and I'll sell them for 50.00, each. I'll even throw in an extra set of batteries.

The more GW pushes, the more I'm really leaning to push back.

It's not bad terrain, its just bad execution I see here.

I agree. I want to like this thing, but I cannot due to a design that feels haphazard and functionally stupid. In a way it looks like someone took a an altar from Warhammer and added a bunch of techno bits to 40k it up. If this was a fan creation I'd think it was okay, but as an official product I can't see myself buying one of these for anywhere near approaching the asking price (even with internet discounts if those are possible). Maybe additional pictures will help change my mind but I kinda doubt it. The four pillars and the elevated platform upon which they reside are just goofy looking. And that Servitor? WTF, mate?

OOhhhh, it looks like the parts are held in individually-molded plastic protectors, I think I have discovered the secret of why it cost so much!

Seriously though, I feel like some of the more recent kits, specifically kits that GW does not have old background imagery to pull from, have been increasingly lackluster. The Taurox and Centurions are the same sort of "MOAR DETAILS" that I think just looks junky, no reason for added details other than it looks kewl (in comparsion the Imperial Knight, which has a ton of old materials, turned out great).

I wonder if GW themselves realized this wasn't their best work, and figured their most loyal would buy off these 1000 kits.
