Thanks, Weety!

I ended up with this army as the result of retail therapy - When mini Slinky #1 was tiny wee thing he had a hole in his heart (all fixed and good as new now) and he had to spend a couple of months in hospital - I had a stressful life of rushing between work and hospital, and I used to unwind when I got home by perusing old Orks on eBay Given that he's 5 now, I thought it was time to finally get it all finished off

3rd and final Carnosaur finished up, now I just need to wait to seal them when it isn't all super gloomy outside looking like it's about to rain.

Believe it are not they are different colors. Just a bit hard to tell from the lighting.

Repainted the bulk of the Saurus unit (they were originally the same color as the standard and the standard's base)
.

And did my best to at least get the base coats on the Stegadon.

Stegadon is going to be a pain, as I have no idea how the howdah actually goes together, or what's supposed to be inside it, or if I even have all the right parts.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

I've gotten halfway to my goal for this month, here are the first five Tau Breachers and their drone:

I know, their bases aren't done, but I'm gonna do them very soon while I paint the other five dudes.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

So close to done with these orcs that I can taste it... or maybe that's just the boltgun... probably shouldn't be licking my brush painting with metallics huh... Putting the metal on and then it's just a couple of quick detail passes, touchups (sparingly, they are RnF...), dip, seal, and bases... and the unit base... Ok fine I've still got some work to do.

I had less free time than I expected over the weekend. But, as of last night, the fourth Prussian soldier is finished and troopers five and six only have highlights left. Aside from that and sealing, my goal for January is reached. As a secondary objective, I'm going to force myself to complete those Brigade Prussians and the Warjack before the month is over. If I can finish them all before the end of the week, I think I'll reward myself with an order from Miniature Market or Ebay. I've been eyeing some Bauhaus Blitzers on there.

Lovely Contemptor!

I was taking my bookshelves and weapon racks to spray them, and managed to spray myself in the eye with my leather brown spray, fall down the stairs and break the top off the spray can.

I'm sure it would have looked hilarious if anyone had seen, especially since I'm wearing giant novelty slippers.

Okay so I need to change my pledge. While KOW sounded like a good pledge I'm still not motivated, so back to Zombicide:Black Plague.

Started the a bomb and be romanced before leaving for work, base skin tones done.

Nice. Looking forward to seeing those painted up since I skipped the set myself.

I'm still gonna do orcs though damnit, even if it kills me! GAH. Probably as few legitimate orcs in the list as possible though, chariots, riders, monsters, etc.

I'm trying to figure out how to make a list of nothing but big giant mounted guys.

A "Riders of the Apocalypse" if you will. Nothing but big stuff on chariot sized bases at least.

All my big stompy dinos, maybe Tyrant Xerxis on his far too large of base, all the mounted Mierce stuff I'm still waiting on... it'd be great once I get it all!

Use Orc rules.

Krueger on slasher
Gore riders
Gore chariots
Flagger on gore
Godspeaker on gore
Can also use giant to represent big critters

Low nerve test numbers, but crushing strength everywhere and lots of thunderous charges

Nice work on those old-school boyz, Slinky. Will the old-school Ork Dreadnought be February's target or a bonus model for Jan? Or just depend on when you finish it?

Highlord, you could contact GW for the Stegadon Instructions, or even this bloke

Tau Breachers are looking good, Zergsmasher. Any close-ups? How do you plan to do the bases?

That's a sweet Contemptor, Jackal. A bit brighter than we often see for Sallys, but it works. I like the freehand(?) flames on his ankle as well. Really well done there. Will you be drilling the barrels or adding decals/additional markings?

Theo - I've left you as listed with Zombies and the KoW Terracotta army. Feel free to go back and forth or however you feel at the time.

@Az: Thanks for the compliment! There will be some better pics at the end of the month; should give you a better look at them then. As for the bases, I'm keeping them pretty basic with just some texture paint, shade, highlight, and then perhaps some grass tufts. Nothing too fancy.

Considering I've been away for ages and just saw this thread today, is it still possible to sign on board for this? I have plenty of stuff to paint. Orks, mostly and also an entire city terrain set. Can I sign on to do both?

My January contribution. A converted Hive Tyrant I got in a job lot of Nids that I recently picked up. I like the whole "coming up from underground" and extra armor vibe, so I left it the way it was.

This guy is the test piece for the color scheme I'm using for the Nids.

Base looks nice too.

Yeah, that's what I thought when it was done, too.... Like these nids are the descendants of the ones that almost ate the entire Iyanden craftworld... they ate so much blue & yellow that the colors stuck. I'm calling it Hive Fleet Taraka, after the world-dominating monster from Indian mythology.

I would love to join in on this. Extra push to finish painting things is always welcome. I will be painting/already started my Maelstroms Edge box. I have 2 boxes but the 2nd will remain sealed until the first one is finished. And if that does not last me 6 months I have Dungeon Saga to paint as well.

I just finished the squad of Tempest Elites last night so here is January's entry.
Edit: just made a lightbox so I am replacing the picture with a much improved one

That purple armor really is a nice touch.

In other news, I FINALLY, and I mean, FINALLY, finished up these damned cold ones.

I started these guys before I even joined Dakka. So that was at least 2010, 2011. They've been sitting unfinished for that long? Jeez.

So thanks to this, they're finally finished being glued and painted. Still going to fix up the bases, as that's very 90s with the green on them.

Here's the rest of their buddies.

Now it's off to finish the Stegadon, start the pteranodons, and I can dig in to the Khorne collector box and Skarbrand that's supposed to arrive today!

(Skarbrand will probably steal the hobby spotlight as he's the big new shiny, but the others WILL be done before the end of the month. Mark my words!)

I got my Prussians sealed last night. Only thing I have left to do on them is hit their helmets with a gloss varnish. Pics to come tonight. It looks like I'll hit my self imposed secondary goal as well. Last night I got the final two Brigade Games Prussians painted and washed. Basing and sealing is all that's left for them. It looks like I'll be making a Miniature Market order after all. I'm going to be working on my Covenant of Antarctica stuff starting next month. First up will be the Skorpios Heavy Bombards. I'm going to start one early though so I can get a better idea of how I want to paint them.

I won't lie, I forgot to drill the barrels out lol.
I'll go back and add that.

And yea, I'll be adding more icons to it, waiting on my etched brass to turn up first though.
I tend to paint sallies a bit brighter, some of the darker ones look more like dark angels.

And I must admit, I got side tracked badly this time.
Had my knight lancer and castigator turn up today so been getting the lancer assembled slowly.
Didn't realise how much bigger than a normal knight they were!
