I know it just makes me sad as I always liked Rodan as a kid. His update isn't really a radical change like Mothra so there really isn't as much to discuss there either. He was in a volcano at the end of the original film iirc so there is that I guess.

Healing surges are for fools. Fools and liberals.

He has better feet in this one. Though thats not hard. Original movie rodan looks ridiculous.

If viewed through the lens of 'today', a lot of things from the 50's look pretty ridiculous!

Just look at some of the hi-jinks everyone was up to in some of these clips:

Love it!

Mothra looks like a great modernization, other than the rear legs need to be right behind the other sets. I like how she shares a bit of biology with the first bugs, like shes a "good" one.

I am stoked. The wife told me to calm my t..s when I started talking about it.

-"Wait a minute.....who is that Frazz is talking to in the gallery? Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG
-"Don't mind Frazzled. He's just Dakka's crazy old dude locked in the attic. He's harmless. Mostly."

I have a riddle for everyone.

What happens when you take Serj Tankian

Have him backed by Dethklok and a full orchestra

Throw in a side of Taiko drumming with a bit of a mens choir

And have them cover Blue Öyster Cult?

The answer?

You get this...
Spoiler:

There is also this. Takes a few cues from some old G songs

I cannot even begin to explain how insanely excited I am for this movie. Like, it could be utter dog gak and I wouldn't care.

S.H. Monster Arts has apparently revealed their toy line for the movie. So you can get some pretty clear looks at the designs of the monsters if your interested in seeing them not surround by color filters and cgi smoke.

Spoiler:

Toys actually look REALLY good with a lot of possibility in them.

I like em, particularly Rodan. I see they fixed the problem with Mothra-how does a moth become a threat to a giant TRex? Turn it into a flying preying mantis like the first movie...

I thought Mothra's deadliest weapon was unconditional love.

Or poisonous sprinkles.

Pretty sure she shoots lightning a few times. Or is that the evil Mothra from that one movie not even Godzilla fans remember the name of?

I will second that. I was a huge fan of Rodan growing up. Also, the Autobot Swoop.

Rodan looks to have some awesome moments in this movie - but he's probably high up on the 'Most Likely to get Whacked by Ghidorah" list too.

Though personally I'd have Anguirus and Kumonga on that list before Rodan.

Actually, I wouldn't have Rodan on that list at all!

Mothra should (and will!) get killed...

...only to resurrect via worm, of course!

Mothra is the Sean Bean of Godzilla movies.

He's Godzilla's Millhouse, and who doesn't like Millhouse?

I might get guff for it, but I always enjoyed the first Rodan movie more than the first Godzilla movie.

I think this is definitely a film for the IMAX format - I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Probably won't get a chance to see it until next week, but I'm really looking forward to it as well!

Well, I'll kick it off--I really enjoyed the film. There's a lot of human-scale stuff, but it's almost always about the monsters and where they're going and when there's a monster fight going on, it never felt to me like it was cutting away for too long. Ghidorah was really good, coming across as a primal force of destruction with just enough personality to qualify as a villain. The monster fights are well...choreographed? In that it never feels like just two scaly mountains bumping into each other, but there's some clever tactics and surprises, with the cutaways to human-scale characters reminding the audience of the scale of what's going on.

There's a post-credits scene, but nothing too critical in it.
Spoiler:
Maybe setting up Mechagodzilla?

"The 75mm gun is firing. The 37mm gun is firing, but is traversed round the wrong way. The Browning is jammed. I am saying "Driver, advance." and the driver, who can't hear me, is reversing. And as I look over the top of the turret and see twelve enemy tanks fifty yards away, someone hands me a cheese sandwich."

See, I felt let down. I know that most people don't watch these for the plot, but it is supposed to have one beyond 'Godzilla is going here'. Anything beyond that the actors struggle to portray as something that humans would actually SAY. It makes Godzilla Vs Megalon look like high fething Shakespearean Drama.

Spoiler:
Also, a bomb with a timer needs ABSOLUTELY NO ONE to STAY WITH IT. IT HAS A fething TIMER AND THERE *IS NO MANUAL DETONATOR*

Wow this movie is bad, really really bad, the monster fight were ok, but that is the be all and end all of this film, everything else was horrible.

Spoiler:
Mecha King Ghidorah most likely, but it could also be setting up Destroyah since it was torn off in the area where the Oxygen Destroyer bomb went off as well.

I loved the movie myself, but I'm also a big King Ghidorah fan and the movie was basically "King Ghidorah the love song"

The film was neither good not bad. It was OK. I enjoyed the callbacks to the classic film scores. The monster fights were fun but there wasn’t enough brawling, just finishing move after finishing move. The human stuff was largely boring, as usual. i give it a C.

I saw it on preview, and it's AWESOMELY GREAT!

If you're into giant monsters, and especially giant monsters fighting other giant monsters, that is. Seriously, if you wanted to watch giant monster fights, this is as good it gets.

If you're looking for good acting, solid characters, and other film school stuff, go elsewhere.
