I also dislike the "pluck-it" trays. Had way too many problems with them.

And looks like we'll see if McVey is bluffing about the 600k since we're less than 5k from hitting it with 61 hrs to go. It would be down right silly for them to turn off the money spiggot now that it's proven to sustained.

I see 5k to go, but close enough!

It's a testament to the success of a Kickstarter when the mistaking $2000 and $5000 is considered "close enough".

And I think it's a testament to Sedition Wars for making it this high without a plug on Penny Arcade.

I think its a combination of the Pedigree of the creators (Mike McVey! Rob Baxter!), a desire for a pure SciFi game of some sort, outstanding miniatures and some original concepts.

At the moment, there is a lack of a true SciFi wargame, the only exceptions being 40k, Warpath and infinity. However 40k and Warpath have their problems or differences: 40K and Warpath need large amounts of miniatures, 40k is expensive in the extreme, both are similar with their fantasy archetypes and I suspect a lot of long term 40k players are suffering from burnout. Infinity has the most to offer currently but has that whole Anime thing going on. Sedition Wars offers something different and promises a lot.

For me, Battle for Alabaster feels very System Shock 2 to me and that can only be a good thing. I can only hope that we'll see a Shodan homage (hint hint!)

That's the feeling I got when I first looked at the fluff of Battle for Alabaster.

ThaneCawdor wrote:Well for those wondering how the CKPM worked for Zombiecide, when the kickstarter closed, Amazon charged the amount pledged. Afterwords they sent out a link & password for their web based tracker (rather than the usual kickstarter survey) It reflected the base level you plegded and allowed you to assign the "leftover" cash on extras as appropriate (and update your address).
Now the Zombiecide one did include an option to go over your pledged amount and Paypal the difference to them, including adding in extra Abomination sets (though not core) at the $100 point (no discounts like in the actual pledge) keep in mind they also announced this BEFORE the close of zombiecide, and haven't mentioned this YET that i have seen for SW.

While it's certainly possible they're playing coy just to increase pledged sales, it could also be a case that Kickstarter themselves whined about losing their cut of the extended sales, and pointed to some clause of the TOS that it violates.
So while I'm hoping that I can add extras later (as T5 closes Saturday too, and my next check is the good one i can spare some cash on), in which case i'll add some THIs, Terrain, Lights out, and maybe extra opticamos and maybe another Biohazard and a bag, as it is i pledged $200 to cover my biohazard and 2x Ridleys, Hexens and Calamaities, with one Banks & Ramirez, and i might try to squeeze an extra $30 out to guarantee opticamo just to ensure i get the limited versions i want

Well, in the end it'll be the difference between them getting $300-odd from me or $500ish. The problem with tacking on so many extras as the kickstarter goes on is many of us simply run out of disposable cash at the end since Amazon charges you instantly. (And I'm not eating any "transaction declined" fees, either). If we can't add extras at the end, I'll be dropping the 2 sets of terrain, the Lights Out figures, and 5x Carapaces. I'll also be examining the extra $10 figures really carefully rather than going in blazing. So basically, quite a drop in what I spend.

Hm, just filled out my Mantic survey - they're allowing extras to be tacked on and invoiced for as well.

Me too. It sits there next to the Thief games. I'm really hoping that the BfA involves a mission or two dealing with the stations AI who, due to the strain virus, is slightly unhinged and sociopathic!

Sure would, the hard bit is finding good sculptors, casters, web savvys and artists to help with the work. Its a plan in progress

We'll have to keep an eye on you, then

Project Update #52: Iron Lily arrives! Ashoka disapproves....
Posted by CoolMiniOrNot

Every Biohazard set gets Iron Lily! She may be a little squishy without her THI carapace though... (hint hint).

Vanguard forward operators often find themselves adapting to "close encounters." Akosha has decided to switch up to full kick-murder wetwork gear! Ready to get surgical on some Strain mutant freaks? She is.

Every Biohazard set gets the battle damaged version of this deadly cyborg if we hit this stretch! Ships March 2013, unpainted and unassembled.

Pretty sure it is in verse as she is one of the starter set minis.

Vanguard miniatures

Kara
Morgan
Akosha
Drone Tank (50mm base)
Male Samaritan with Laser Rifles x 12
Female Grenadier x 2
Male Reaver Heavy x 2
Female Lancer special x 2

Perhaps she is harder to infect due to her metallic nature?

Ah ha, good looking out. Seems a bit of an odd last leg stretch as well. There were about a hundred potential awesome references they could have gone with.

Ahh I knew I forgot something in the whole process. I blame work distracting me. I've fixed it for you.

I'm actually pleased to see more in-universe characters as it gives us more of an idea on how the Vanguard work as a military force

Well, there has been a bit of grumbling about the constant use of pop-culture references, so this may represent a happy medium. Personally, if the figure matches the concept art, I'd be very happy (looks great!), and it's news to me (had no idea that that character was a cyborg).

Of course, if one was inclined to look at things in the lens of pop culture, I suppose that she could be a reference to Cameron. Which would mean Ms. Summer Glau has 2 different versions of herself in the set already...

Thats either Kerrigan, or the Terminator from the Sarah Conner Chronicals.

( Course it could always be The Major, from Ghost In The Shell. )

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

'Bout time for a $650k stretch goal. I doubt we'll make $700k.

I think at this point he needs to release a coupe more $10 characters. With almost 3,000 backers each one would probably net $15,000+. I feel like this kickstarter has gone a little too quietly into the last few days.

If you check boardgamegeek, "grumbling" is a nice way of putting it, lol.

I personally like the balance achieved between Geek-service and universe-expansion they've done with SedWars.

C'mon Studio McVey finish strong bust out something breathtaking!

It is interesting I wonder about this. For instance I am getting all of the homage miniatures but I really don't care about the homage part except for the Serenity crew and Niven Banks. It would be interesting to poll and see how many people bought them just because they looked cool as compared to wanting them more for the homage.
