Here's a shot of my dakkajets, safely at home... assembled and on their stands. Unfortunately, one of the supershootas didn't make it home. Ramos swears he sent it, I swear it didn't come out of the packaging, we've both torn our studios apart looking for it... but no dice. So, I'm left trying to figure out how come up with another half a wing-mounted gun (luckily it's the bottom half). I've tried the bits merchants... no luck. So I'm looking at using some of that re-usable casting stuff to make a GS mold, then scratch building the gun barrel.

Sorry for the blurry pic... not the best depth-of-field I'm afraid.

OH-I Wanna get out of here

There's gotta be someone who built a dedicated Burna bomma or Blitza bomma. Maybe try to find said folks and ask if they'd part with the bit? Or could you just use an ork big shoota?

It's not the gun I'm worried about so much as the mount for it. Oddly shaped, rounded thing set up to function on the slant of the wing. I suppose I can ask around.

Still real sorry that bit didn't make it back to you- It blows my mind how something like that could just vaporize

As to the bit in question, Its these wing mounted shoota bitz

Thanks Ramos! Yeah... can't fathom it... like the dozens of stranded socks floating around the house.

Did a little work on my own. Didn't have enough time to do the airbrushing for Ice that I need to do... but after a week or more I wanted to do a little something. So, I dug out a couple of ork bike "rescues" (i.e. purchased cheap & needed to fix up) and with a couple of added bits and a partial re-paint... I have a new Nob biker!

Before and after... sort of, the other bike is the second rescue project but you get the idea.

... and a somewhat nicer shot of the improved bike.

Some nice quirky bikes there. A bugger about the mount.

@HO: Thanks mate, PM is on it's way.

@Denua: Yeah... that's a hard one to explain.

When I originally started my orks... I bought a large lot of orks, some of which were very nicely painted in this blue & ivory/yellow scheme. I still have & use them... my trukk, battle wagon, wierd boy, tankbustas & 3 bikes. As I started to add bikes, I just kind of adopted the blue coloring as in the beginning... I wasn't good enough to re-do them in the quality they were originally done it. Since then, it's just kind of stuck. I did think *really hard* about doing the big bikes in yellow & leaving my grot "lesser" bikes in blue... but in the end I thought it would just be best to continue with the blue theme. Kind of the bikers "doing their own thing"... wild and free spirits that they are.

It wouldn't be a major project to change them... but I'm not sure it's something I really want to do at the moment.

Finished the last warbike rescue project today. You've seen the before shot (previous pic), here's the after.

And here's the "Nob" bike squad all together. Eventually, I'll re-do the skin on the older orks to match the new ones (which matches the skin on the rest of my army better). I've got 3 NIB bikes left. At this point, I'm planning on 1 pain boy, 1 big choppa & either another big choppa or a warboss.

Looking awesome, colours are great, I actually don't mind the various skin tones, kinda nice.

I'm generally pleased with the way they came out & look together.

I've got 3 models that I have to at least build by next week for the "leagueament" I'm in... The FW biker boss model to stand in for Wazzdakka, a Necron flyer and a communications array. Luckily the painting comp for the series is based on a single model, not the entire army. Refreshing that... good for the new folks!

Yeah they look great as a group. I think a variation to the skin tones gives a more natural feel to the group.
Good work.

Here's where my warbike units stand at the moment.

1 unit of 9 "grot" bikes (to be normal warbikes)
1 unit of 5 regular ork bikes (to be my Nob warbikes)

Ultimately, I'd like to get each of the grot bike units up to 7, including a special nob/runtherd (to be consistent with the whole grot mob idea). The nob bikes really only *need* a pain boy, though a couple of big choppas to mix in would be nice.

I do need Wazdakka (I have a FW model for it which I'll be building this week) & a warboss on bike. That may be a special 3rd party model that I pick up somewhere or perhaps something I cook up on my own.

So, the bike contingent of my army is coming into focus... very happy about that! Just wish those little bikes weren't so darn expensive. I do have one more grot bike that needs to be painted... at least that gets the two squads to 5 and 5 (sans nobs). Playable at that level, if a bit thin.

Yeah... I've been working on this army for years now and it's just recently that it's finally started to resolve. Got some help painting and with my own contributions the pieces are finally falling together. Still a bunch of bikes to do, but since there's really no pressure... I can relax and knock them off here and there whenever I'm in the mood. Makes painting them much more enjoyable.

This is my first time making it over to your orks Gits! They are beautifully done! You've done a great job matching the Blues on your bikes, I bet they provide a great contrast to the yellows of your bad moons on the field.

Introducing... "Frankenbike".

In the true spirit of the name... this bike was cobbled together from the corpses of 3 other bikes of its ilk. Add a bit from a Kan as a front fender, an extra exhaust pipe from a grot tank and a bad moon symbol instead of an evil sun... and we have a nob for my regular bike squad! This is one of those crappy, cheap, plastic ork bikes from back in the day. They're poorly made, evil suns bikes that I'd never normally field. However... they've got the same overall design as my RT bikes... just larger. Makes them perfect for the nob (or runt herd). Took a bit of work, but I like the way it's turned out so far. I even have an old metal runt herd that fits pretty darn well on the bike (though making the arm that grasps the handle bars took quite some effort). His right arm is a mechanical hook, which I think is credible enough as a PK, if rather understated.

I need one more of these bikes. If you have one that is complete and in good condition that you're willing to part with for not too much $... please PM me.

Thanks,
Gits

I think you need to add a Squig in-between the handlebars with its tongue out

Actually, I think if I was going to add one it would be on the ammo box behind the driver. However as no such squig exists (not in the proper size anyway), I think it'll have to just be a nice, but unrealized... idea.

Finished the biker nob/ grot herder. The driver is actually a metal runtherd from waaaaaaaaay back in the day. Snakebite clan and everything (that's why he looks so unhappy... he's not really comfortable on a bike).

Looks awesome, Gits. I really do love the ultra bright skin tone.

Heh. His face kinda gives me that sad indian vibe. You know the one:

What you have here is a biker who realized all the harm he and his boyz do to "da Erf"
Either that or he remembers he left his squig at home.... one or the other
