Yayyyy, leave it to Siggy to get us back OT with a bang!

Do some Austrian cavalry, then you could model my Great, great, great, great Grandfather!

Those historicals look great, Siggy! Nice little details and the added floral touches on the base add some fun to break up the color blocks.

@Gitsplitta: Was your Great-great-great-great-grandfather a horse by any chance? Sorry, sorry, I got this fixation with horses on my head recently. Actually, I'd love to do some cavalry to match the infantry, especially as there was some amazing cavalry uniform around back then, especially on the famous Hussars. Oh well, maybe next year. Latest plans for new things: 15mm American War of Independance using the Muskets and Tomahawks rules.

@Moltar: Thanks very much. I've become a massive fan of flowers recently. And they go oh so well with either pretty uniforms or as a counter-point to really drab uniforms (as seen on my Cold War brits).

@Nafarious: Thank you for the very kind words!

@Solar_lion: Cheers!

Between picking up the models for the next commission project and preparing the next reviews I even managed to paint the last 12 Cold War Brits figures (which means I'll be playing Force on Force - Cold War Gone Hot! on Thursday. Very much looking forward to it.). Good thing about that is that I could classify that as "producing showcase stuff for historicals" (despite the paintjob on the figures being FAR from "showcase quality").

Anyway, I'm back to proper things and there hardly is anything more proper a thing than Space Marines, right?

So here's the first WIP shot of some new Sternguard:

I also have a Hunter/Stalker in the works. I have to say that those kits are really, really nicely done. I worked with lots of plastic models from different manufacturers in the past weeks and going back to GW stuff for now made me realize that these guys really do tip top quality product.

@sing your life: Thanks!

@nerdfest09: Thank you, I do enjoy painting Crimson Fists a whole lot.

Sternguard done!

..and with a background, once again showcasing how dramatically a background alters the look of a mini:

Hope that you like them! Next up: Hunter/Stalker.

I wish I was brave enough to have such a high contrast on cloaks like that.

They look awesome, as has all the other things you have been showing. I may not comment very often, but I am watching and I like what I see, whatever it is you show. Keep it up.

Love the Crimson Fists Sigur, I think they look better on the darker background it really does show what a difference the background makes.

Nice work on the Crimson Fists, Sigur.

Were they (and the Hunter/Stalker) preassembled, or did you have toput them together?

@Dr H: Thanks very much. The weird thing is, that my painting got a LOT more high contrast over the past few years.

@GIraffe X: Thanks, mate. This is a really immature thing, but I love that mask. Anyways, yeah, backgrounds do make a ton of difference. For some instances I need pictures with white background so I'm still making those as well.

@Dysartes: Thanks very much. As with all the Crimson Fists models I've done for this army, I had the honour to build, in some cases convert the models as well as painting them.

@Gitsplitta: Thanks, thanks for so much praise.

@nerdfest09: Thank you, buddy. he colour scheme works very well.

Update! Hunter/Stalker!

I'm happy to announce that it's dead easy having both variants from one kit. You can basically assemble both turret attachments that go on top of the top hatch of the Rhino chassis. The only part the turrets both share is the antennae. I just ended up gluing them to the Hunter turret. Maybe I'll add some antenna to the Stalker top as well but as it it looks pretty busy already. Apart from that, an antenna in the middle would further limit the turning of the gun turrets.

When I had the camera out already, I took the chance to take a picture of the last few of my Cold War British I finished a few days ago:

Tonight they're going to get their baptism of fire, in a most probably fun game of Force on Force: Cold War Gone hot.

Very sweet job on the hunter/stalker... looks like it could have been the model for the codex!

@Gitsplitta: Thanks very much.

@Nafarious: Cheers. At this point Space Marines go rather fast to paint.

@Moltar: Thanks, I love them too.

@Solar_lion: No tracks I'm afraid, this is why they had to put it on stilts. Just kidding, the tracks will be added next. It's more convenient painting them on sprue and the gluing them to the model lateron I found.

Update!!

So it's mostly done actually. Some more detailling and then I'm off to weathering this mother of a mother. Or something like that.

Fantastic job on the chipping. Been working on that myself lately. No where near your level but I keep practicing... eventually I may get there. There is an art to it... the painting mechanics I can figure out, but having the right "feel" for where the chips and scrapes should be is another story entirely (and where most of my challenge lies).

I'm with Gits, your chipping is great and some of the best and natural looking out there! I can't get it even close to how yours looks and I've been practicing behind the scenes so I don't embarrass myself :-)

Hmmm, Tank on stilts just made me think of the marines driving through a rough neighborhood of Orks and getting their tank on blocks when they stop at a checkpoint lol!

@GItsplitta: Thanks! I guess with everything the technical stuff can be figured out rather quickly and after that the real learning starts.

@Nerdfest09: nice mental image. Pretty sure they als obrought a hose to nick the petrol from the tank.

@lipsdapips: Cheers, glad you like them! It's a nice quality kit indeed. Not cheap but oh well.

Finished!

...

Here are some shots with white background:

In the last shot you can see some of the stowage and such I added. The long silver tubes contain either additional ammo for the missile launcher or additional extra barrels for the guns for the Stalker variant. Then there's some jerrycan and an additional stowage box welded on. You'll notice that there is more dust and such on the outside hull than on the 'stilts' because naturally, more dust and dirt would be thrown up when the vehilce's on the move rather than when it's employed for shooting at stuff.

Hope you like it.

@Nafarious: It's weird, so far throughout my "career" (note the huge apostrophes there) as a commission painter I only painted one Warmachine figure.

@nerdfest09: Thanks very much, mate!

@Dysartes: Thank you! Recently I've been cought up with preparing that painting workshop at the historical wargaming show this month and since then I've been working on something secret I may not talk about until around the beginning of 2014.

@bebopddrums2424: Heyhey. Thanks muchly for the comment! Much appreciated.
