Camkhieri: Thanks, tackling the stompa bit by bit to keep it manageable.

So, post-LARP-crew coma has finished, new codex leaks are looking brilliant... Time to get some paint going methinks . Did some more work on the mek gun, getting there slowly. I need to finish the tires, add graffiti, and then weather it all. Could be worse .

This side is a tad bland, will need lots of grafiti and weathering IMO.

Enjoy the pics, hoping to get this guy finished soon(ish)!

For today's piccies, nothing too spectacular; I finished off the mek gun. Now, I just need to finish the krew and I'm good.

I might go back for a second round of weatherign at some point, not quite sure yet. I also messed around with plasticatd, since I'm starting to run out of black orc shields for my doomchickens:

Slightly too big, but I'm getting there. I tried bending the plastricard to get the sloped effect for the jaws, but for my next attempt I think I'll just glue on bits of pc at an angle and mooth it off wilth file and gs. I'l let you know how it works out

More great contributions to Orktober...well of the smaller Squeaky Waaagh variety.

For even, straight bends in plastricard. You use a metal straight edge (ruler) and a sharp knife, you can score the top face of the plate and then bend it back with a sharp edge rather than a full cut and glue.

Dr H: Thanks! this is the biggest I want them to be though, or they'll start looking very head-heavy.

Captain Brown: I'm definitely going to try that, thanks for the tip!

stonned_astartes: thanks!

Not much modelling time these days, mainly due to my hobby room being away from the kids and dog who need quite the supervision, but that doesn't mean I can' t paint since moving paints is easier than moving all my modelling suppplies . Since I had a mek gun finished, I figured I'd start on the crew:

Not quite there yet, but one more painting session should see them all finished to an acceptable level. I'll also be getting my codex today, so expect some ruminations on how the new codex will affect the squeaky waagghh! Since both the MA warboss and the big mek with KFF have been relegated to the index, expect some new characters being produced shortly

monkeytroll: thanks! Let's see where my next distraction takes me...

Gitsplitta: thanks, they're great minis, a joy to paint.

Captain Brown: thanks!

inmygravenimage: Thank you!

So, with the new codex, I've got my first game scheduled for Thursday. This means I've had to take along, hard look at my current minis, to see which are still playable, and which will need onvertin, or be relegated to the mini cabinet only. It's also a bit of a trip throgh memory lane, if I'm honest . Luckily, the victims see to be reasonably limited. My HQs and my buggies are the only obvious casulaties so far, with some salvageable. I won't be running index stuff, since I figure that's going to end soon enough.

Let's do the rundown, HQ's first:

Both the mega-armoured warboss and the nog-MA big mek with KFF are scrapped. Thank you GW for acting like sulky kids after the chapterhouse rulings.

The warboss can still be grotskull, though I'll never play goffs witht he grot revolution, or he could serve as a regular warboss with a PK. I'm a bit concerned this may lead to confusion with my meganobz being around and looking rather similar; opinions welcome!

The Big mek with KFF: I could clam he's in mega-armour, but that seems pushing it; I could also run him as a warboss with PK, but he doesn't 'feel' like a warboss to me. This guy may be relegated to the cabinet for now, and serve as eye-candy and a reminder of happier times.

Then, onto the buggies. As you may know if you've been following the squeaky waaggh's antics, I have 6 buggies total, with 4 fully finished:

All of them are equipped with rokkits. No way any can count as a scrapjet, so that leaves the dragsta, which is equipped with rokkits and the shokk gun. I believe two of my buggies could easily have a shokk gun added somewhere:

The one on the left can have one rokkit replaced with the shokk gun, and the one on the right has plenty of empty space to add it .

Then, I have two with magnetized weapon options, so rebuilding a turret could turn either into the snazzwagon or the boosta-blasta, who have their main guns in the turret. Here's how they both look without their old turrets:

the wartrakk might be a tad on the small side, but the one based on the trukk should be good. Adding a snazzgun and a big shoota or a rivet kannon in the turrets should be relatively easy.

One guy is pretty much dead in the water:

Rokkits attached quite solidly, no 'need for speed' look required for the dragsta, no easy way to add more weapons.. Not to mention I like the little mini-diorama in the back. Eye-candy it is.

Last but not least, a great looking buggy (IMO), sadly with an attached rokkit pod:

I'm considering removing the whole turret here: the rokkit pod is attached to the grot gunner's bits quite firmly, but I could recycle most of the buggy, especially since the whole gunner assembly comes out. I'll be rebuilding the magnetized turrets and the shokk rifle first though, before I tackle this guy. If I ever diced to do a rukkatruk buiggy, this one seems quite doabler: I could cut off the rokkits, and launcht he squigs from the remaining tube.

So, with some effort, 5 or 6 out of 8 models should be salvageable.. Could be worse I guess. I'll need to add some new characters as well: a waaggh banner nob, two weirdboyz, some warbosses, a MA KFF big mek... Interesting times . I'll be trying to build a list for Thursday, time to experiment a little!

Gitsplitta: Definfitely could, and the bottom one will most surely get converted. The other one.. I just might, but he's very low on my priority list right now .

So, played a fun 2k game with the new codex yesterday, no batrep since my opponent gave up bottom of T2. In all fairness, I had eaten half his army by then, with a very agressive central assault on his firebase: 2 battlewagons and a big trakk, defkilla wartrike, kans, a dread,... kinda ran him over, supplemented by KMKs and a dakkajet. He had two 400 point- FW dreads who hit really hard, but killing two vehicles wans't really all that hard for this list.

Lessons learned:

- orks, even non-evil sunz, are pretty god at getting into combat
- deffskulz kultur is brutal if you have lots of units
- shokk jump dragsta is pretty lethal
- deathguard are pretty tough, but also VERY expensive; I outnumbered him 4 to 1, and I wasn't running a horde at all.

I also tested out my new weirdboy, but he obviously didn't have much chances to cast. I also had him running behind the BW's, meaning he was out of range for fists of gork when I need it. Needs some reworking, methinks. On the bright side, here's the piccies of the weirdboy!

I figured that, with grots being thievin'gits, they'de be tapping the skull of a weirdboy for power .

monkeytroll: thanks, fun conversion indeed . Still tryingh to sttle on my second one, thinking he'll be on his knees, with a huge cloud of waagh energy pouring out.

Captain Brown, Gitsplitta, Coh Magnussen, Dr H: thanks guys, glad you like him

For today, I decided to put my home-made doomchicken face to the test, and build me a 7th doomchicken. I'll be needing somewhere beteween 10 and 15, at least, methinks, to be truly competitive. So, building these guys up seems like a smart idea

Seems to blend in quite decently, I'll paint this one to make 100% sure before I start grinding these out.
