If you're so mad at them still you shouldn't even be putting yourself through the ringer looking at their new product much less still voicing your disgust for the changes the company made that were for the betterment of their company. either get over it and get back in and enjoy the hobby or stop garbage posting please.

there is a difference in saying you dislike the aesthetic of the models or wishing the models included something like a giant crab (weird they wouldnt include something like that) and saying you like them but screw GW for what they did.

It may be time for you to move on to another thing.

There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

These Deepkin look excellent! I'm really happy at how GW has spun AoS into something very different from a LotR/D&D style fantasy game, to something very much it's own new(ish) take on fantasy.

It's almost as though they looked at what things they'd made for the previous WaFaBa armies which sort of broke those stereotypes, and expanded them into their own armies.

AoS has certainly widened the possibilities. In the Old World, a mish-mash of fantasy tropes and historical aesthetics, things were arguably too defined.

My gut feeling is that if they are in the "dark elf" alliance block then they won't be the fast glass cannon army; that's the Daughters of Khaine.

I'd wager they've got good solid speed and would likely be middle of the row. That is not a hard tanky force that moves slowly with rank and file and heavy ranged support; but once that's swift and hits firmly but not super fast. The turtle suggests that they've got some much more "tanky" units and their shark cavalry could be very tough to beat (sharks being rather well known for a touch sandpaper skin)

That is one of my problems with Fantasy as well. I really dig the way that Age of Sigmar Grand Alliances works with what can be in it or not. It establishes frame but allows new ideas for factions to show up. The Deepkin is a good example of this.

Necoho did get mentioned in a short story already.

But he's a lesser chaos god so I wouldn't expect to see his followers for a long time. Even then they're probably gonna be a little confused on how to serve a god when gods don't exist.

I really love all of this over the top crazy stuff they've come up with recently for AOS, but I still wish to see more focus on just some plain ordinary humans. It is just if everyone is some bizarre fantasy creature it kinds loses some of its impact. There needs to be some regular people for contrast.

I invested my time and money in a game with ranked formations in a setting that's a fantastical version of our world, with the emphasis being on normal humans fighting horrible things.
GW, through the incompetence of their previous management, ended up killing their own and first franchise, and replaced it with a skirmish game system that's like 40k, in a world that's more or less a take on norse mythology, with an emphasis on gold supermen fighting horrible things.
That is not what I invested in.

So yeah, I'm still a little miffed, and I will not simply "join or stop posting".
I will give them where credit is due on good work though.

Yeah, where are those free guild guys? You'd think they would be one of the first factions to be released, considering how in the old world they were the Empire, a major faction.

The best thing about AoS is that GW and it s designers clearly adore the creativity and felxibility they have in producing things for it, in a models and rules setting. There is a clear freshness to them that simply isn't there in 40k. I'm a bit on the fence with Deepkin (and KO), but I love how they are being so weird and different. if they went back and just did what they did in the Old World then it defeats the whole point.

Yeah, I can see that. The nature of the Mortal Realms does allow for some weird stuff, which does grant a degree of creative freedom
I just wished the Old World could have existed along side it, so those who want a more grounded setting can have something to toy with.

At the moment we have 40k and AoS, two ott, highly fantastical settings. Whfb was a slightly less ott, not quite fantastical setting, that was mainly about ordinary humans. And that had a narrative appeal.

Its not as if there wasn't room for expansion in the Old World. You still had Arabia, Albion and Cathay.

Ditto.

Now.. bringing back Bretonnia has ghostly Grail guardians with forest themes... that might be just enough. The quality of the new AOS sculpts is amazing, first Daughters of Khaine now Idoneth.. they are outdoing themselves each release.

Shadow Elves next will be something to see. Hoping Malekith (never will call him Malerion) is a giant freaking Shadow Dragon.

To the unfaithful, I bring holy plagues ripe with enlightenment. To the devout, I bring the blessing of immortality through the kiss of sacred rot.
And to you, new-born sons of Gulliman, to you flesh crafted puppets of a failing Imperium I bring the holiest gift of all.... Silence."
