Thanks, MegaDave.

Exalt much appreciated, Cap'n.

Page rollover needs a pic. So here's Maugan Ra roughly blu-tacked together. Extra bits of cloth left off for this shot, but they will be there in the end.

Here's hoping for priming weather in the next couple of days. Thanks for looking!

I like that pose much better than the official one, and your new head seals the deal. Excited to see paint on it

Nice. Now there is a model laying out some death!

That is a seriously good modification of Maugan, he looks much more like he means business! The official pose just looks like he’s rocking out with his guitar on some wind swept album cover photo shoot! Is his armour pretty much intact under his shredded robes or have you needed to resculpt bits that merged with them?

Thank you, guys!

Vaul forbid GW ever make a version of Maugan Ra actually FIRING the Maugetar. Glad the re-pose is working for you.

gobert, the robes will be intact when all is said and done, but if you wanted to leave the front off you would need to resculpt the side of the right leg.

Got him primed. Don't think I will enter the monthly comp. Doubt I would finish in time. Things are weird and I am moving slow.

Hope to get something going soon.

Thanks for looking!

(kicks tumbleweed) Hello there.

Firstly, thanks Viterbi. Sorry, that was way overdue.

So, I stopped painting for a while there. Since April, I guess. No reason. Just happened. Has happened before. Most likely will again. Don't like it, so let's not dwell. What's important is that I am back at it. On with the show.

Started playing Song of Dice and Fire. Pretty much because I wanted to paint this duo.

Now, most of what I have to show will be a direct result of having adopted techniques that give results I am ok with in a reasonable amount of time. Nothing that is going to set the world on fire, but they're painted, and sometimes that has to be enough.

Also caved in and picked up Marvel Crisis Protocol. Blast it. However, I have been able to buy with restraint and keep up with painting what has been purchased. This is in no small part due to the ease with which these models are painted. Pics taken as batches were finished.

All together.

Couple individual shots.

A shot of the rattlecan zenithal prime I am using on these. Then it is all Contrast. I am liking the speed, and how it suits the comic book theme.

Also, I got to work on Maugan Ra. Here he is base coated and fully assembled for the first time.

And complete. Not going to lie, happy to see how he turned out, and happy to see him done at all.

And things to come. Hopefully not after another hiatus. Have Thanos for MCP done and awaiting varnish. Plus another car. And this guy:

Pretty sure he will be opened and painted. Least I can do for the old timer.

That about catches us up. Hope you are all well, and as always, thanks for looking!

Nice selection of comic heros/villains. That’s just prime/contrast? Very impressive!

Maugan Ra came out amazing. Great paint on an inspired conversion.

Alway fun to see retro models get fresh pain. And that’s an old bit of lead.

Welcome home bud.. Great to see you back at it.

And very much as good as ever. Maughan Ra has to be one of my all time fave figs. Great job on him. You also make a good case for this contrast millarky.

Wonderful to see you.

Great to see you back!

The painting motivation comes and goes. Sometimes it takes days, sometimes months to get back to it.

The contrast work looks really good! Seems like a very effective way to produce minis.

Maugan Ra turned out amazing, been looking forward to seeing that one!

Good to see you back at it youwashock, I missed being able to catch up on your projects! Maugan turned out fantastically well, the highlights on his gun are spot on. The repose looks even better all painted up. As the others have said the Contrast work on the MCP stuff is great. It’s a really good way to get minis painted quickly and effectively, giving you that painted mini buzz!

Thank you, all!

So, the school has a burgeoning Warhammer club, and I snapped up a couple of the club kit minis to paint as an example and hopefully as inspiration for the kids. One of them happens to be a Space Marine (shocking!)

Couldn't leave him stock, of course.

Will be throwing him into the monthly challenge because, why not? Will most likely be donating him back to the school when he's done. We'll see.

Thanks for looking!

Thank you, Syro. They have shown a lot of enthusiasm so far. Unfortunately, I cannot spend a lot of time working with them because I have other things to attend to when they are allowed to work on their minis. Still, I offer them lots of encouragement.

Bit of WiP.

Solid stuff here lately, loving Maugan Ra in particular. Also nice to hear about the club, here's hoping it'll pick up enough steam to keep going for the foreseeable future

Thank you for the comments!

Well, the Marine is done, but the club is already starting to lose steam. Not sure why, but I hope it picks up again after break.

He turned out well enough. Nothing spectacular, but an interesting diversion. Also took a pic with the other Marines that the club has painted so far.

Also finished a few other minis. Sort of a random batch this time. First, Enchantress from DC Comics and Knight Models.

I bought this model on a whim because I thought the sculpt was cool. I have no frame of reference for this incarnation of the character, being more familiar with the green shirt/black leotard look from days gone by. I also have zero intention to play the game. Anyway, the cast was pretty rough. I don't see why they insist on making such spindly models in a substandard resin. The flash on the hair was so bad I said forget it and painted everything that was there rather than figure out where the scrap ended and the model began. And those arms. So thin. In my mind she is a slightly vampier version of Professor Trelawney out for a walk on the Hogwarts green. She gets to stand next to the Dementor in the mini cabinet.

Darkspace Fiametta from Relic Knights. I didn't like the original model, so picked up the Darkspace version instead. Like I will ever play this game again. I tell myself many lies. Anyway, because I have trouble letting go, I finally finished her up and took a pic with the rest of the Doctrine models I painted when the KS delivered. Almost done with this faction.

Sigh.

Painted up a few mooks for ASoIaF. Nothing very exciting, but they should look good ranked up on the tabletop.

And what's coming up next. Never a shortage of things to do. Thanks for looking!

Your Marine looks really good. Am I correct in thinking that you did most of the work with Contrast paints? If so, your brushwork on top really takes the model to the next level.

That final model really creeps me out. It gives me a Dunwich Horror vibe.

Now showing the Kalyshi team for Dreadball, and WIP on a Strider for Deadzone!

Painting total as of 5/6/2024: 49 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain

Painting total for 2023: 79 plus 28 Battlemechs and a Dragon-Balrog
