Right there with you, and I just got back from a similar absence. Still subbed and will (likely) be here when you get back. Take care and I'm looking forward to your next project, I really like your work. A lot.

Thanks buddy!
I'm at work behind my desk just wishing I was behind my favorite desk, my painting desk! I have been working so much and with the new baby my inspiration has come to an startling halt. I've been checking in on all of latest updates of my subscriptions and I must say I'm jealous.
Perhaps one day soon I'll be back to the glory days of my city of death but as soon as I sit down to do anything I stop do to many different things ( mainly inspiration.)
How do you guys get over your "droughts "?
Any ideas would be incredibly appreciated!

New little one is always going to cause this; they are glorious and overwhelming. From about 4 months to a year you get a bit of your life back, and by the point you become a bit more adept at juggling. My only other piece of advice would be maybe paint/build something else entirely / might help you get your groove back, as it were. I find that always works for me: 20 PAGK to finish in a week, but a bit sick of doing gks. Solution: paint a character standard Fire Hawk instead. And now, I feel like I can go back to the gks.
Hope that helps!

I'd agree - something small like a CD size or smaller terrain piece that is something a little different from what you have so far. Something that can be terrain or maybe an objective marker? I'd suggest some kind of pillar/advertising doodad with fliers for missing persons - I tried to get a picture of one I am sure is at the start of 28 days later where a round advertising pillar is covered in missing person notes, but my google-fu was weak.
Some rusted old advertising pillar with plenty of posters and notes and prayer papers etc stuck to it randomly several layers deep.
Something looking like this: http://thumbs.dreamstime.com/thumblarge_611/13079839689Q1We4.jpg

I'm slowly rebuilding a Warhammer Quest set from the ground up. I'm finding this good for getting over inspiration bumps because there are so many different things I can do with it. If I want to paint a character, I can do. If I want a squad of something... I can. Scenery? No problem
There's also no deadline on it as I don't have a gaming group yet... so there's no pressures to do anything with it.

I have every Warhammer Quest set, character, and miniature made. TWO of the base sets. I <3 it so much.
When I hit a drought, I switch projects, do some organizing. A cleanup/sorting project is great, because you can do it in small 'bites' of time. Hey, I have 15 minutes, I'll clip some sprues. Or I'll go through THIS box of random bitz. Etc.

When I hit a "functional" flat spot I switch gears and work on a completely different project. When I hit a "dysfunctional" flat spot I'm gone from Dakka for a few months. Trying to minimize those moments in the future. I've gone through a LOT of changes / improvements during my absence, and to get back in the saddle I've been focusing on really small projects that I can put a decent amount of attention and detail into w/o hitting burnout because each one takes a few days at most and I get to keep that "accomplished" feeling rolling over from project to project.
I expect I'll start tackling some of my more "time intense" projects very soon, but I'm ready for the challenge and I've prepped some ideas for quick projects to work on in between the waiting periods (drying glue, drying paint, etc) of my larger pieces.
Glad to hear you're looking at joining the fray again! Your work has ever been an inspiration for me and seeing what madness you come up with next is worth waiting for.

MArty, the Imperial Sector box set is probably your best value option for more fencing at $100, unless you can find them on ebay/bitz site. However, it looks badass next to the walls!
