The peltasts from the armies of the Autarch. (via Gene Wolfe's Book of the New Sun)

Sure, they're lightly armored, but every single one of them is armed with a potent energy weapon at least on par with a plasma rifle from 40k. I say it'd be a "who hits who first" kind of thing.

...Well... The Space Marine would probably hit first, now that I think about it... But still!

Master Chief/Any Spartan in MJOLNIR armor

Nah, I don't think so. Like people said earlier, the MJOLNIR armor is pretty dang weak once you strip away the shield, which admittedly is pretty dang easy to do. Plus, a Spartan's strength is impressive, but you don't see them busting through walls very often. All in all, I'd say a Space Marine has the Spartan trumped on pretty much every aspect of war.

So far, there seems to be a few actual examples within the context of this, mostly slowed though actually interesting, discussion.

A Predator (predator)
1 on 1, a good match. Warrior preds are armed with plasma-like weapons, so they're good to go. Largely inferior, not near as tough or strong, but gunz win.

An Alien (alien)
A good fight for sure, if the alien gets close. Not sure if this really couns as a super soldier though. Depends on the backround you subscribe to.

A Spartan (halo)
Probably the best match up, the spartan has roughly equivilent strength, though inferior toughness. Crappier armour and basic guns (the spartan laser would roughly compare to a small lascannon however, at least AP3) though he'd at least have an invuln (40k forcefields are all invulns). Comperable balistic skill though inferior weapon skill (he's kind of a one trick pony).

Hunters (halo)
The hunters from halo would also match up well against the marines. Strong armour, brutish strength and massive firepower make these (very alien) super soldiers a great match.

Things from starcraft/starship troopers
Many of these would put up a good fight, but are all clearly inferior.

A terminater
These could put up a great fight, and are roughly equivilent to a necron, but in CC the marine would rip 'em apart.

Anyway, the rest of the examples had nothing to do with anything, but clearly granted many people much amusement.
Also, why is that retired chuck fellow so popular!? He was mentioned about 2 dozen times, and each time like he was a great revalation. Very strange... =)

The Fetts (Boba & Jango) might, although they'd be at a disadvantage.

SW stormtroopers might, if they're from the 501st (the ones that stormed Tantive IV, the Blockade Runner from Episode IV) since the 501st seems to be less affected by the lack of marksmanship found in their brethren.

Also, some Brotherhood of Steel member from Fallout, since they have power armor as well

Predator: They are almost 90% muscle, equal in height to a Space Marine, and can use stealth to their advantage. It'd be a close fight, but in a melee fight (Chainsword vs. Dual Wristblades) I'd put my money on the Predator.

Brotherhood of Steel are a good match for Space Marines at range. Their laser rifles wouldn't pierce Space Marine armour, and bolter shells would probably burst harmlessly on the reinforced metal surface of their own T-45d power armour. With good tactics and careful use of missile launchers, they could win.

In melee, no contest. While both have augmented strength, the Brothers are still human. An arm-wrestling match could be a tossup, but in melee Space Marines have far superior reflexes and melee weaponry.

As an all-round opponent, I think the right Eldar could out-ninja a Marine on a good day. The gifts of the Chaos Gods could empower a human warrior to defeat a Space Marine, and a skilled Sentinel pilot could do the job at range and up close provided the Marine isn't toting a power fist.

On a squad level I give it to Stormtroopers. Better armour-piercing weapons mean that as long as they get the drop on them and don't get charged, the Marines won't even know what hit them.

Arnold could take down a SM...he did take down a Predator remember? and i think there's not that big of a difference between a pred and a SM...

As for Chuck Norris, he can take down just about ANYONE...(Incl. Khorne, Nurgle, Khaine, The Nightbringer and so on), so he doesn't count

Oh, and a wife would do it too, if a Space Marine would ever get married...:-?

Well, all that genetic modification does a number on the equipment, as it were. Marriage is not part of a Space Marine's life plans.

While people have largely dismissed Starcraft creatures from consideration, I have to say that I think an Ultralisk could munch a Space Marine. It wouldn't be easy, but it could do it. I mean, it IS a giant organic tank with enormous blades on its face, bred solely to kill.

May have already been said, probably has after 8 pages but I've decided I should be lazy to facilitate sleep.

From the Honorverse, Royal Manticoran, Solarian, Andermani or Havenite Marines, so long as they have battle armour. Normal humans, bad-ass tech.

I believe David Weber mentioned their armour is roughly the strength, firepower and durability of a modern MBT. plus it's bigger than Tactical Dreadnought Armour

EDIT: They also deploy plasma weaponry quite casually.

On Jedi- I think the biggest thing would be which Jedi it is, as well as Light or Dark (or Grey? I guess Katarn and the like are light, but I'm more interested in force abilities).

On terminators: SM wins in CQC, and bolter round tear them apart at range. A liquid terminator would just get blown to droplets until Plasma Weaponry could be deployed.

On predators: I doubt it. The governator was at least able to kinda-sorta stand up to one in CQC, plus the predator has no real armor. I'm not sure how the predators cloaking would interact with a SM's improved senses and autosenses, so I'd have to side with the SM.

On Brotherhood of Steel: None of their weapons are any good (AFAIK the BoS doesn't deploy any of the Fat Boy type weapons in-game, so...). The armor doesn't really do that much for your strength, so the SM still has a vast advantage in CQC and is impervious to most of the BoS ranged weaponry.

On Spartans: The SM wins on strength, toughness, armor*, and basic weaponry. The spartan does have the advantage of speed (I'm fairly certain the Spartans are faster than SM) and some armor characteristics (AI capabilities and rechargable shield). The Spartan does have weaponry capable of damaging an SM. Plus, how many SM have ever pimp-slapped an anti-tank missle out of their way?

On Nemesis: Blown/torn apart.
