That's probably a local fad, as I haven't seen people wearing those in actual public (IE, outside of yoga classes) here...
Everyone aside from the fashion fanatics themselves knows that fashion fanatics are sad, sad little people.

yeah that is happening at my school too. Its kinda well, annoying and kinda revealing, I don't like it when girls do that just makes them look slutty.
And also wearing ripped clothing is very high in demand or looking sk8r -.-

Just in case this is some weird little cultural thing... here, it goes like this:
Nephew = son of one's brother/sister
Niece = daughter of one's brother/sister.
IE, my sister's son is being dressed up in ripped jeans despite the fact that he is only two and a half years old.

Funnies aside, it's not really a question I'd personally ask on a forum. How are you going to tell if the answer is true firstly, and secondly and more importantly, why does it matter.
