Considering they FAQ's in the new pattern Land Raiders for Space Wolves when the latest Codex: Marines came out, I would hardly say it's out of the question they'd retcon this into all the other chapters. It's just a matter of how and when.

LRC was originally in a campaign book, for an army that was extremely popular and then put in with the standard Marine 'dex until they got their very own "Codex: Black Templars" some years later..
So the LRC is kind of an extreme example.

Despite the fact I don't have a good BA list with them in, I think the model has potential. Take off the top-turret and the tail, plasticard the back up a bit and it could look great

It's bizarre that it has Chapter symbols for only two Chapters. Chapter-specific kits aren't exactly a new concept - there are heaps of them already - but for a kit to just have two Chapters included is very odd. I would have at least thought the kit would be like the Land Speeder and Drop Pod and contain a few symbols for the standard Chapters (Ultramarines, Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Space Wolves) with GK's added in for flavour.

Not convinced those are part of the landing gear. Is it not described as having a clamp to hold the Dread in place? Door as labelled is too small for a Dread, so I reckon it's a magnetic clamp for the Dreadnought.

I'm not sure any of them are really much of an improvement on or noteworthy departure from the original.
I actually like the original, and I like some of the conversions well enough, but in essence they are all blocky and pretty much the same as the original.
If I had to pick one to replace the original it would be the bottom right one as it looks the most like the blocky aesthetic of space marines; sort of reminds me of a mini Thunderhawk. Automatically Appended Next Post: Miss Dee wrote:Perhaps they'll do an upgrade kit for £15

yeah, i remember you in the "pro" camp in that thread. in the end, it's a style opinion so there isn't a technical right answer. i like using official models (also because my plasticard-fu is week beyond an occasional floor or strut) and i'll pick up a single model for conversion. i'll probably liberally borrow ideas from all the versions i reposted... i'll lower the engines to flush with the top, use the lascannons without the servitor turret to resemble other marine vehicle remote turrets, straighten out the tail to resemble a thunderhawk's more, and trim down that huge intake behind the turret to just the small part on top.
edit: i get the feeling that the hurricane bolter sponsons will look very bulky compared to the small central transport frame but, ruleswise, is a must if you're kitting the bird out for anti-infantry.
