Thanks Skalk! I'm happy they turned out. I have made enough copies for all 3 of my Mk I Rhinos, but I'm not going to put the originals on a Rhino, so I can make more copies if I get more Mk I's. If I get some newer Rhinos, I'll have to make new doors, not really looking forward to that.

@ spudkins - I use Instand Mold to make the press molds (amazing stuff by the way!). and I have used eveything I have to make the copies from, Green Stuff, Gray Stuff, Brown Stuff, and Apoxie Sculpt. Gray Stuff works best, Green and Brown Stuff are also good, Apoxie Sculpt works, but not as well, but it's cheaper than the others and I have more of it, so I use it more.

I'm almost done with the first Rhino, I didn't have much free time at all this weekend, so not much of anything done. But I just have to add the lettering to the front plate, and then paint it. I still need to do the Extra Armor plates, but that can wait.

No updates yet, I'm hoping to get some paint on the Rhino this weekend.

I do want to post though that I am selling one of my painted minis.

Don't get me wrong, I like the model, I put a lot of work into it, I just don't ever see myself putting together a Pre-Heresy Army, at least no time soon.
And I have a long list of stuff I want to get, and I'm not allowed to spend money on the hobby unless I make money on the hobby. Wife's orders.
So anyway, it's on ebay already. I didn't think it was worth putting on the swap shop for one or two models. Here is the ebay link.

Look at it like this Jake, if you are in a position where you can't buy anything new for awhile, you can challenge yourself to finish what you do have lying around, old abandoned projects, etc. You can make some bitz box raids, etc. and just generally maximize your current resources. I have often thought that if I were quarantined to my house for some reason, that I would seriously get some things done that I wouldn't otherwise do when something new and shiny shows up

Yeah, there is that of course.

But talking to the wife last night, I will most likely have use this money to register my truck instead anyway, so I will have to finish my project list before I get new stuff anyway.

The wife took off 3 months to be with the new baby, so money will be tight for a while. And if I don't want my "New to me" truck to be hauled off for not registering it, I need to get that done pretty soon.

Oh yeah- better do that!

Well, nothing on the Steampunk guns, but the concept drawing is on my work bench!
I did get some airbrush time this weekend!
My AutoCannon Havoc got some love:



And my Rhino got some paint as well. I used a zenithal lighting method, to get the top-most areas the lightest. It shows better in person, in the pics it's hard to see the darker shadow areas. I'll emphasize it by adding some washes to the lower areas, and where shadows would be.
Here is the base Rhino:



I also used magnets heavily, and most things are removable and can rotate if they are supposed to, like the turrets and the Havoc missile launcher.



I sculpted the skull on the front plate. This will be the Rhino for the "Mortis" squad, but the front plate is removable so it can be for any of the squads!

Here is a close-up of the top door I made.

Obviously, everything will show up better once I get more colors on it, but it's a start! And knowing my painting speed, it might get done before next Winter.


I have also bee working on the OOP metal Space marine I wanted to give extra armor to, if you can remember for way back a couple of weeks ago or so...

I still need to add some chaos arrows and more rivets and stuff to the armor, but I'm pleased with how it's looking so far...but I don't think I'll want to do this for 16 models...I think there will be some models with different ways of showing heavy armor, and some will have Bionic Parts. I do like how the Helmet came out though, so that is a plus!

It's the lighting... I had to use one of my daylight bulbs for the kitchen, and I haven't replaced it yet.

as for that extra armored marine... the head i like...but it somehow reminds me still of an evil earnie form sesamstreet...^^ and with thsi stance of him...you should sculpt him in a surfing stance^^

The sculpted skull on the front is amazing. it makes mine look so fat and lame lol. Gives me something to aim for though. Maybe it's that i am viewing it on my phone but it does not look salmony at all.

EDIT : now corecting spelling at work, the pictures also do look a bit salmony lol.

Mordain, thanks! I started by just putting a glop of GS on the card, and moving it around for a half hour until I liked it. I couldn't have done it at all a year ago.

Yours is good, and it's your second ever sculpt of a skull right? You're doing fine! Just keep practicing!

And the color of the tank is a bit on the orange side in the pictures, but I don't think it is in RL.

@ Vic, he does look like he could hang ten! I have (had) his arms done, the arms that just hold a bolter, but my cat stole one of them! I don't know where she hides all the random bits she takes off tables and stuff, but when we find her stash, we'll have to have a yard sale!

maybe she is secretly doing her own thing with all those stoeln bitz...ever checked the glue? maybe she has enough points already worth for a small killteam?^^

I was wondering where that glue went to...if she's been using my paints too I'll really be pissed!

well...cats are pretty clean living...i would rather be more worried what she might have done with yon brushes...
