Man I hear you on the "justify $$$ for the hobby". I've been taking a long hard look at the miniatures I know I'll never use (let alone paint) in my lifetime. I've been looking into swap / trades lately and have had a couple successful so far. I'm going to be putting up almost all of my swap / trade in the Swap Shop and once that's done (meaning people have had a shot to swap / trade for stuff we both want) I'm going to eBay the rest. If it sells low, oh well. It sells. I'm looking to trade off the stuff I haven't painted (or will never finish) and none of it will be things I know I'll use (or want to at some point) like Chaos or Guard stuff.

I owe you a swap, RS. Let me know what you're looking for and I'll bet I have something.

Hey Skalk! Don't know how I missed this post! Weird! Anyway, most of the money I need for the hobby is for supplies, you know GS, sculpting tools, CO2 tank for my airbrush, saving up to get a mold and resin casting kit...you know...stuff.

But I have actually been giving my squads some thought the last couple of days...
I had said that I wanted to make some Chaos Marines converted up with extra armor so they can "count-as" Plague Marines in my World Eaters army. Well, who says my World Eaters can't ally themselves with actual Plague Marines? Or even that some of the World Eaters started following Nurgle instead of Khorne during the Heresy? So, yeah I've been looking into getting some plague marines lately, they go for a pretty penny on ebay! But I have one bid that will end in 5 hours. It's only for 4 PM's, but that's enough. I just need an idea of how I want to convert my 20 or so old metal loyalist marines into Nurgle's Finest!

So, swap? Nothing that I can think of. But, thank you! Maybe some Nurgle hints and tips when I need them!

OK, I am about to commit a scandelous act! I am going to post pisc of Plague Marines on my World Eaters blog! Mostly because they will be aalies of my World Eaters' Army, in fact they may even wear World Eaters Shoulder Pads! *gasp!*

So, if you are a Khorne Purist, please stop reading now. If you want to see my "Loyalist Marine to Plague Marine Conversion", please keep reading!

So, I started with one OOP metal vanilla Space Marine, that had already been desicrated, and had the Chest Eagal removed, like this:

Then I added a helmet spike, Chest re-breather, and some hoses:

Then I added some Pustules, and gooey bits. I also had to alter his feet, as he was leaning way too far forward:

And here he is with arms and a bolter:

Still working on adding gooey bits to his arms, helmet, and backpack. So, well see more of this guy later.

That is a very very impressive conversion. I would re-post in the tutorial section if I were you as well.

Thanks guys!

@ Lennysmash - I'll do that! I just have some more nurgly goodness to add before it's done.

So far the Nurgly goodness is great It ties in great with the Audio book i am listening to at the moment. Horus has just been fighting Nurgleths Hordes

How do you create your tubes? Because they look so good.

Mordain, Thanks! What is the book you are listening to? I need to get some more HH books, i think I left off on the 3rd, but it was a long time ago, and I may need to re-read them!

On the tubes, well, I just roll up a bit of GS the length and thickness I want, and stick it to the area I want, and then take my sculpting tool and make the groves. That makes it sound easy, but it takes a while, my hands shake sometimes, and that slows me down, and I have to re-do stuff alot when I add nicks in the tube that I don't want.

Next one I do, I'll take more pics and do a "Nurglification" Tutorial!

Urm checking ... False Gods (2nd book in the series) I have Galaxy in Flames as well. I have a train journey to a meeting tomorrow so will be able to listen to it on the way

I look forward to the Nurglification tutorial, being able to make good tubes would be handy. All be it for no nurgly goodness

I know about the tool Vic, I want one, just other things to spend my money on! But it's on the list!

But when you don't have, you make do.

Mordain, I must have read that one, but I'm coming up blank. I definately need to re-read the series! Also, if you want to make tubes easily, look for the "Tubetool" that Vic was talking about! I hear amazing things about it!

Wow. That is a great job. Not that I'd expect anything less from you, but still... wow. That was quite the transformation. Father Nurgle approves.

Thanks Skalk!

Oh, and I did do a "Nurglification" tutorial, http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/433013.page in case any of you missed it.

But I also have un update for this thread!
I have been working on making "Extra Armor" plates for my Mk I Rhinos. What I have so far is a riveted plate, with spikes, and a place to put a bunch of skulls in the middle! On this one though, I'll use what I learned from my skull bases, and make sure there are no really deep areas that the mold has to go into. Like fill the skull eye sockets in a bit, so they aren't so deep, and keep the space between the skulls filled in too.

Here is the plate so far:

And tacked onto a Rhino:

ohhhh....be carefull where you drive that thing...you could poke ones eye out with that...!!!

for me i have to say the spikes are a bit too long... but then agian i am known for my distaste in spikes^^ so i guess i shan´t have said this^^

That's OK Vic, I guess there is a reason you don't have chaos armies!

I am also planning on making some without the spikes, and having boils and puss and stuff for my Plague Marines. But I'll wait to see for sure if this one turns out.

Well, if I had a tank, I would have all sorts of spikes on it, it would make people think twice before trying to jump onto it to try to disable it. Well, it would make the NEXT person think twice anyway!

Will the spikes cast. ok at that length or will they be separate and stuck on?
