Off Topic: Anyone who honestly believes the new Star Wars movies are better in every way has a serious imbalance. I highly suggest you log onto http://redlettermedia.com/ and watch Mr. Plinkets reviews of the the 3 prequils. He will set you straight. In addition to being funny, they really are the most insightful criticism of Star Wars I've ever seen.
To all 4 of the Matt Ward appologists out there,
Calm down man. There's plenty of Ward hate threads, this is not one of them. People are just channeling their frustration by having some light hearted fun.
To Matt Ward,
Thank you, for teaching me to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away, and know when to run.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Matt Ward's Parents,
Thank you for saving 40k. Your plan worked.
Playing "Bolt-Thrower" for your baby while in the womb.
The Brass crib mounted on top of a mountain of skulls.
Codexes replacing Dr. Suess books.
A steady diet of Human Flesh and Vodka instead of Formula.
Promoting worship of the Emperor instead of...."Christianity".
Moon Pies instead of Dolly Madison Treats.
Sending Mr. Ward on the 'Agoge' resulting in his first kill at age 7.
All these things successfully created the perfect being for writing 40k lore. Thank you for your wonderful parenting technique.
Sincerely,
A 40k gamer

Thanks for your efforts. There has NEVER been a codex or rules release without naysayers. No one could do it perfectly, or satisfy everyone. It's so easy to criticize...yet none of the critics have ever even written a codex. I doubt any of them are even published. I like the GK. I like the SM (except Power of the Machine Spirit ) I like BA. I play Necrons, and my hopes are high for them. Keep doing what you're doing, and let the bilge and filth from the naysayers slide right off of you.
Good job, man.
Automatically Appended Next Post:
40k players are like Star Wars fans: they won't like anything new that comes out, because they've made the earlier versions or originals so "perfect" in their mind's eye that nothing will ever compare. Even though the new films were superior to the old in almost every way, few fans will admit it because the older stuff has become iconic.
If by superior you mean they were pig schlop in comparisn then you are right on the money=D
Does not writing codexes also mean you can't say they're good because you have no experience in writing them?
Like someone said before, watch the Plinkett reviews
Not only great for a good laugh, but very insightful and an excellent discussion on how to create movies, even if you don't particuarly care for the subject matter

Well, the fluff for about two decades stated that they were incorruptible, so it's not like they weren't basing that off nothing.
True, but my counter to that has always been, that fictional text in a book for a game can be changed and that is exactly what Ward did. People told me I was crazy. I guess buying Ward off with my winning lottery ticket was worth it. And to think it was only a winner for $5.00!!!
Please provide a citation for where even in Ward's crappy writing he states the GK are corrupted. The first piece of text in the codex states no GK has ever fallen. Nice try at a troll, though.

Which definition of corruption are we talking about? It can either mean falling to Chaos and becoming its servant, or falling victim to its mutagenic properties.
No Grey Knight has ever bent a knee to the forces of Chaos. Ever. In this sense of the word "corruption", they Grey Knights indeed CANNOT be corrupted. Case in point, the second sentence in the codex describes them as "an incorruptible army of genetically-engineered warriors".
However, nothing in all their brainwashing/neurosurgery/indoctrination renders them immune from the various effects of the warp. Resistant due to the Aegis, sure, but far from immune (okay, except Draigo, he's immune). Hell, in the Grey Knight Omnibus, Alaric's hexagrammic wards were overloaded/shut down and he became a mindless berserker for a time. But even in this state, he never gave his soul to Khorne, and in fact ended up tearing down his cities. Of course, the total slaughter that required probably worked out to Khorne's benefit anyway, but that's the cruel irony faced by all the Grey Knights. They can never win, but they fight anyway.
Think of it like this, the Grey Knights have a 2+ invulnerable save against warp shenanigans, but the blood of the Sisters gave them a re-roll just to be sure. The idea is actually not at all bad, it was just clumsily implemented (perhaps limited by space or the fact that it wasn't told from the perspective of a participant).

??? Just go back and read all the countless threads. I will leave you with one tidbit from the hundreds of posts on the subject: "if they grey knights are uncorruptable, then why did they need to anoint themselves with the Sisters of Battle blood to avoid corruption?" If they can't be corrupted, then it the ritual was unnecessary. As for which definition, the fluff never says which one it is "flesh or Spirit" as others have put it, so it is safe to assume it could be either one.

So you're going to choose to be purposefully obtuse. Okay, I can live with that.
I don't need to read "hundreds of posts" of histrionics and communal nerdrage when I have the book in front of me and can read it for myself. Considering how many untold innocents sacrifice their blood (and flesh, and bones, and very souls) to provide raw material required to equip the Grey Knights, a few Sisters of Battle (who at this point were a liability and were going to die anyway) in exchange for an extra edge against a planet gone cuckoo for cocoa puffs. I don't think people would even mention it if the Sisters in question were stated to have willingly sacrificed themselves.

Dear Withershadow You don't seem to have fully grasped the meaning and intent of this thread. It is to prove categorically the medical efficiacy and superlative aphrodisiacal properties of the humble pickle. Healther and more nutrious than viagra, I fully endore the preserved veg for engendering creativity both physically and mentally. I do most honestly and forthrightly believe that were it not for the foodstuffs steeped in vinegar, that the Grey Knight codex would be the book it is. Please accept this trial size jar of pickled walnuts to prove to your own satisfaction the sooth of my proclamations regarding such viands. Yout obediant servant Matthew Ward.
