I for one hope the DLC will be free. Not giving my credit card details to PSN any time soon!

Well yeah, but I'd have to find those first! Not a single one in any of the three supermarkets nearby, and I have yet to find a videogame store nearby.

I haven't seen or heard anything about combi-weapons...the only CQC weapons I know of are the chainsword, power sword, power axe, and thunderhammer, and I'm pretty sure the TH is the last one you unlock. One of the coolest weapons I saw was the Storm Bolter...what I didn't like is that the Melta Gun is supposed to be a "shotgun", but you have to charge it to get a decent attack...

It's a "shotgun" in that it is a short-ranged, high damage attack which has a somewhat slow rate of fire and hits things in roughly a cone/cylindrical shape.

It's also massively different to the one in Killteam, even though Killteam is the prequel...

With his stats, I could just field him by himself against armies in tabletop.

Using the Dev's special attack while having the Rapid Fire perk made me lol like crazy...especially when using the Missile Launcher

Ah, so that's why there's no missile launcher in Space Marine.

LOL, quad fire with the special attack meant that I effectively couldn't see anything except explosions. Just to be on the safe side, I'd twirl in place firing until everything xenos was dead. I'm sure the emperor didn't mind!

I made a dude at work cry becuase I explained to him the errors of DoW compared to the table top.

He brought up the subject due to this game...

Meanwhile, I don't give a rat's ass anyway ^.^ Tabletop 40k is hardly some masterfully designed piece of gaming art. Nor are the models (The paint jobs... maybe). Breaks from tabletop are perfectly acceptable... so long as the game is fun and internally consistent.

Oh but it was deliciously malign when I told him that a Leman Russ could whipe out an entire squad of Terminators in a turn, or that Chaos Space Marines are better all round troops than Space Marines.

I would say majority of the models are well done.

Hmm, I've had regular leman russes shoot at my terminators plenty of times and not lost any. If you spread out your models like you should, its pretty rare to lose many.

If its a demolisher cannon, well you're just clumsy if you let it get with 24" of you.

Why do all the multiplayer levels just look like wide open spaces with barely any cover?

Because the game's not about cover. You're a Space Marine, one of the Emperor's Chosen. You don't cower behind knee-high walls like Guardsmen! You take the fight to the enemy, and wade through fire, trusting your armour and the blessings of the Omnissiah to protect you.

Literally, that's about what they said in one of the interview questions. No cover system, because SMs don't use cover, or shouldn't, fluff-wise.

GENERATION 8: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

While I fully respect their choice of not having a cover system, saying that its consistent with fluff is bs. Space marines take plenty of cover in both the tabletop game as well as the stories. The problem is that gullible fanboys will believe that stuff and keep spouting it.

Hey though, they have both regenerating shields, as well as a health bar that refills if you're awesome enough. Kind of refreshing, seeing a different system than "Hide until the red goes away at the edges of your screen, then pop out to take some more bullets!

Also ,they aren't just wide open spaces, they have bridges, underpasses, cliffs, etc, to make use of the Assault/Raptor's jump pack.

I don't really mind about the fluff inaccuracy I'm just saying the multi player will be crap if all you do is stand in the middle of an open space firing at people and it's pot luck who kills who.

I don't think I'll bother with this one tbh.

You weren't paying much attention during the videos if you honestly believe that.

I recommend you try playing Global Agenda. It has similar map styles to what has been seen in Space Marine-- and every class has jump packs of different efficiency levels. It's free to play.

Believe what, that the levels are full of open space? I can't really see much cover myself. If you run into someone in a corridor it's pretty much going to be whoever pulls the trigger first.

I watched 1 gamplay vid on youtube and saw more strafing than I could possibly ever tolerate. ...oh and now straf jumping, lots of that too.

This is basically what these kind of games come down to when there is no cover. people running from side to side and jumping up and down. No thanks.

TBH, I don't give two gaks about the gameplay.

Its 40k, and this is the first "mainstream" game of the universe, and it looks damn good.

As for cover, there is plenty of it that I saw in the various gameplay videos. Pieces of scrap metal standing up that you can crounch behind, open crates in the middle of an area.

I suggest you go look through a couple of gameplay videos again.

Where is the proof of this actual crouching though? XD
