Ok, one last bit of CC: I think you need to reduce her overall size by roughly 15%. I know it will take a lot of resculpting, but in the end... No, I'm just kidding

Well done on the arm and the axe! Much better on both!

Here's a little something to look foreward to:
Setting: The end of a friendly game of 40k at the FLGS
Time: Approx. 2 months from now

Opponent: Wow, your traiter guard sure showed my lousy loyalists what for. I haven't taken a beating like that in a long time. BTW, that's a great commisar you have there! What model is that? I've never seen it before.

RSJake: Oh her? You've probably never seen it before because I SCULPTED IT FROM SCRATCH!

Anyway, looking foreward to paint like everyone else.

@NakedBatBoy - Thanks! Yeah, she'll be an imposing figure on the board. And I got the skulls on the ebay, some guy in China, great price, great skulls, but it takes FOREVER to ship from there!

@Howard A Treesong - Thanks, yeah it was an interesting experiment! but I feel confident to sculpt other things now too! Not saying I'm an expert, but I don't need to fear messing it up, I can just re-do it! I was sweating bullets a few times, worried I couldn't do what I wanted to do, but then, I screwed it up, and was able to remove the offending part, and re-do it!

@LazzurusMan - Thanks for stopping by! Looking at her, even my wife can't belive it started with a paperclip! And she hates my "toys" as she calls them. She doesn't like the face though, it creeps her out.

@dsteingass - you would be right! I have been giving thought to the fluff for this army, and although it will be primarily female, I might have a few males here and there, but not officers. I don't know yet, we'll see, I might adjust the fluff as I build the Army up.

@LordWynne - Thanks!

@Amaya - Thanks, you never know until you try. This was my first sculpt. I have been doing convertions and such for about a year now, and I added some muscles to a genestealer to turn it into a daemon, which is my avatar, but nothing like this. The worst that can happen is maybe you waste some GS.

@alabamaheretic - Thank you very mcuh! The only other god I like is nurgle, but EVERYONE seems to be doing nurgle. I hadn't thought about it. We'll see.

Rawson wrote:Ok, one last bit of CC: I think you need to reduce her overall size by roughly 15%. I know it will take a lot of resculpting, but in the end...

I started reading this and said "Well, that ain't freaking happening!" Hahaha! And thanks! Your comments really got me to add the final touches she needed.

@M0rdain - Patience! I don't think I'll have anything to look at until Monday.

Thanks Dee, but really, I gave as small of boobs as I could! They're barely a C cup! You have to admit, the boobs are better then the first pair she had!

Anyway, no paint yet. I know, I know, it's dissappointing, but I was obsessing over the seams on the side of the coat. I just couldn't make them look right. Well, I finaly did it! I think they look fine now, and have given myself the OK to spray on the primer tonight!

So, here are the final pictures before paint:

Wow, when you zoom in like this, you can really see all the imperfections! I'm glad you can't see them in person!

Looking really great man! I know you are getting prepared for painting, but before you lay down a primer coat, have you considered having her cast up? If you wanted to ship her out my way I could have a go at making you some copies in resin. Might be a tad tricky on the bottom of the coat, though.

Anyway, something to think about perhaps for your next piece. After how well this one came out, there had better as hell be a next piece!

I actually need to have her painted up by the end of Ocotber. And I am a slow painter. How long does it take to do? And would you have to take her apart to do it? I know next to nothing about casting, except what I have read in blogs.

If you need her painted by the end of Oct, better get to painting her. It takes me at least a week to get molds made, cast, fixed and recast Plus, I might need you to excise her coat tails to a different piece since the undercut is very heavy. Likewise with the holster. I wouldn't want to do that to someone else's model myself, especially such a nice one!

Still, if you start making custom troopers or what-not to go with her, let me know and I can get some cranking for you!

@Wehrkind - I think I'll skip on this one...I don't want to cut her up. And yeah, I'll need all the time I have to paint her.

But you touched on something I just PM'd you about. I might want to make "Female Military Personnel" figures to go along with the Commissar. And those would almost HAVE to be cast multiple times!

@Viktor von Domm - You are right. I just spent about 15 minutes googling (oggling?) C cups & D cups...most of which was NSFW And they do appear to be more of a D. Sorry Miss Dee! *gasp!* Miss DEE (D) ? Hmmmm..

Ok.....so this thread has degenerated somewhat. My fault. Sorry.

So, I got primer and a base coat of black on her last night...

Poor photo quality...we have really bad lighting in our house...I need a photo box.

And then I got some paint on her early this morning, just the skin so far:

I wish I was a better painter, but you can't improve if you don't practice, and I need practice!

You can't see it in the picture, but both eye are actually looking in the same direction! Which is new for me. I usually have some derp going on when I do eyes.

So, my questions:
1) Is the skin looking ok? And if not, how can I improve it?

2) I know the sash should be red...so red for the corset is out, what color would look good for the corset? (black would be too much black I think)

3) Hair color? I'm thinking I'll try red, but let's take a vote!

I mean, you all pretty much helped me to sculpt her, so you might as well get some input on the paint scheme.

Your painting's better than mine, for sure. Skin looks okay; how about a sort of brass for the corset? Or dark grey.

Black or dark grey with gold trim on the corset, maybe? Especially if you go with the reddish coat. That would be pretty khorney.

Excellent input! What I have in my head at the moment is: Dark Red coat, Red Hair (I'll most likely make it the same color as the coat, but just continue with brighter highlights than the coat), Black Boots (either with extreme white highlights or painted with gloss varnish), Black Gloves, Black Corset w/ brass trim (which will look gold, because, unlike Berzerkers, she would be more inclined to keep her stuff shiney and new).

One more question: Inside of the coat, same as the outside? Or a different color for the lining? Maybe a brighter red lining?

jake id be slightly careful of using red hair against the red coat...unless you are real careful about making sure that they dont get lost at a distance, and by doing so you almost will have to highlight the red to another color, or just use different shades of red...Also, I never had much luck using Gloss coat over black to represent patent leather. You have no control over where the highlights lie and it can make it look very messy. (the first commissar that i painted, the bill of his hat was done that way and you can see in the pic that it looks messier than it really is) I think its safer to paint the highlights up to white Anyways just my two cents, the model is pretty stunning
