Also not a fan of the Hover Marines, but I suppose they aren't the worst looking things I have ever seen. I was hoping for an angrier assault unit of Prime marines too.... We can only hope they are not too far off.

Wish they would show off the supposed new chapters created from Prime Marines as I need to decide what kind of of army to make!

I can appreciate the grotty looks of the DG, but good lord most of the mini's come off as looking terrible... and not just in the way a Nurgle player wants...

I'm hoping that the Primaris codex shows us some of the new chapters. I agree that they do need to give us a posterboy for the "27th founding"

Was I just dreaming when I heard that the core rules and datasheets were going to be free for the 8th edition? I was expecting online PDF releases like AoS. Perhaps I just made that one up in my head or something.

I know it's all about the scale but come on, should have at least one of the special weapon Marines take a knee and aim down the sights, that would look cool.

I find the special weapon marines to have the most boring poses.

Everything else is fantastic.

A fairly good suggestion over in the rumour thread was that they may be grav-plates ala land speeders and the like.

Given the setup, that seems plausible to me (I had just assumed they were skids for landing at high speeds).

that amkes a lot of sense, those combinerd with the jet pack would proably give a fair bit of precise manuverability

Seems logical.
High speed slides would probably be the easiest on the old joints - probably makes the take off and charging easier too.

Looks like the new starter is going to be one of those "Shut up and take my money!" releases, at least for me. First time I've ever been excited about anything Nurgle-related. I love that drone thing!

lol I can't un-see that now.

Overall I feel fairly unimpressed with the P-Marines. Lazy, almost illogical, fluff behind them and 'hey, let's just make BIGGER space marines.' idk, I would have rather had a couple cool new units (maybe some new bigger skimmers with swivel turrets, or some cooler looking artillery, or something humvee like, or like scout demolition crews that can blow up terrain or lay booby traps of some sort, or some more cool variations in the drop pods) or rather had new factions or reboots of factions that could use a makeover

True scale...Or are they? If they are then we need to start campaigning for true scale custodes!

And orks, nids, eldar, and everything else. Once again, the only models not in scale are Imperial Guard.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

The easy way for them to update points cost without it invalidating the fact that people have paid for points costs by buying a codex is simply to put a unique code in the back of every codex which you have to use when you log on to the website. Therefore they can update it continuously rather than once a year in an FAQ, and those who have paid for a codex won't feel cheated that everyone else got the points for free a year later.
This method has been used successfully on most 'install' CDs since the late 90's.

Edit: or even better allow the code to download the digital version on upto 3 different devices (like most paid VPNs do for example), this can then be a automatically updating digital dex (think app) and the max 3 device thing will mean that people can't just search for a code online.

Yeah, rest of the models look fine but Assault NuMarines are awful.
-two pistols doesn't make any iota of sense. I know it's a movie cliche, but seriously carrying pistol in each hand is LESS effective than carrying than just 1 pistol and using it properly. For Cypher, there is at least kind of justification that he carries two different pistols, presumably he shoots mostly with his Bolt pistol and disposes tougher comers with Plasma.
-what the heck are those shields? Putting shields on pistols is senseless. First of all, you can't see where you shoot. Second, putting thick enough shields to pistols to actually protect anything, you end up having pistols which are heavy and cumbersome. It would make far more sense to use the weight for making the pistol more powerful and wield the shield separately a'la Combat shield.

One thing they said that I don't really care for is that apparently, unlike AOS, the 40k warscrolls (datasheets?) will NOT be available online but will come in the boxes (and be in the books). That seems like a big step backwards, most everyone I know has printouts of the warscrolls they need for AOS in a binder. Not being able to get the sheets for 40k easily means that people can't view the stats without the books, which seems to defeat the entire purpose of how they did it for AOS. They seem to have backtracked quite a bit on "free rules" like they initial stated.

They are Space Marines. They can process way more data in their brains and likely can track two different targets while shooting at them. They also don't need the iron sights on the pistols/bolt guns, they have targeting systems in their helmet.

Welp....I might actually drop money on this if the price is right. If hellblasters are suppose to be the devastator equivallent, you got a pretty decent army for the SMs right out of the box.

The nurgle side looks like it's mostly troops + 1 heavy and 3 characters, but still looks like a decent force. Ironically I'm more of a fan of the Primaris marines (If only because they look better as duplicates, the nurgle marines are too unique to use in multiples).

I don't mind the dual pistols (if Seraphim, ordinary women, can do it, so can super humans), but the shields on the gun do look pretty stupid. What are they supposed to be protecting? They don't cover enough of the marine to protect him from fire.

I'm on board with that, they look horrendous. I like the rest of the set a lot, though.

That's cause the jump pack ISN'T a jump pack.

Let's take a close look at the model
Spoiler:

take a look at the feet of those minis their feet are clearly on some brackets, which might be good for keeping feet locked into position etc, but they'd be a pain to walk on etc. then take a look at how they're based, notice they're on a flier stand (as opposed to assault marines whom useally are depicted landing or jumping) those are jump pack Marines. those are JET PACK Marines.

I saw a pic from the back where they also have jets on their knee pits.

So the Primaris "jump" marines are more like T'au Crisis Suits then? I can dig that
Hopefully Primaris Marines are going to be limited to Infantry and the 'jump' guys. Leave Assault, Bikes and Terminator armour to the regular Marines.
