The gnolls' paint jobs really work for them. Too clean and they'd be hyenakin or something, and someone might mistake them for dogs. I'd like to see what you do with one of the Tre Manor Bones gnolls. They're still my favorite gnolls.

The trenchers look great. Is that chainmail on their faces?

Anyway I'm glad your wizard is okay and hope your apprentice has a speedy recovery.

All of my trenchers are wearing visors similar to the splinter masks WWI tank crewmen wore. Some of the heads in the set have full-face masks, too. Anvil designed them to have more of a gladiator feel to them, which I think works pretty nicely for trench fighters.

Trenchers and gnolls coming along nicely.

You have any corresponding wizard to go with the gnolls?

You planning on running those Trenchers as Guard for Shadow War?

The gnolls are looking good. They lend themselves to your basecoat/wash technique quite well.

Now showing The Fellowship of the Ring, along with some Dreadball Captains!

Ooooh weeee! Tonight was a doozy! I finished the last of the plastic gnolls!

Next step for that lot, make a wizard for them so I can run an entirely gnoll/hyena based Frostgrave warband.

The big accomplishment of tonight though, I painted my Forsaker!

and a bit of a more detailed look at his bone sword.

I love the design of these guys and I was so disappointed that none wound up in KDM. Sure, the Butcher is technically a Forsaker, but it's just not the same. I was so worried I would somehow mess this guy up though. Kingdom Death, like Infinity is one of those lines where I'm afraid if I start painting, somehow I'll screw the figure up. Not only am I extremely happy with how he turned out, but I didn't even break him once! And he's got some thin, tiny pieces, too. I'm kind of afraid to even handle him, those pieces are so thin and tiny. This guy is probably a figure I'll never be able to transport due to how easily he'll break. Still, I love this model and I'm so happy to have one.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
One more pic, this one larger and under different lighting. The bone details on his mask weren't coming out too well in the previous pic.

I really like this guy. He's got a damn pickaxe! Although, the previous guy had an entrenching too, a mace, and a spoon for melee weapons.

Everyone who has read The Tick comics knows that the mace and entrenching tools are for melee, while the spoon is used as you charge into battle .

Great job on all of your progress. Really liking the gnolls, local FLGS started carrying the frostgrave stuff, I might have to look into it more now.

That Forsaker looks amazing. I finally pulled the trigger on some Kingdom Death minis. Really excited for them to arrive. Hopefully 1.5e drops soon so I can get the game!

The Forsaker going to show up in the next Frostgrave game?

He going to get one shotted like a certain Inquisitor's Twilight Knight.

I'll make sure of it!

It came out really nice, so it deserves to get death piled upon it as soon as it hits the table!

I'm looking forward to seeing your Bray Shaman conversion when it's done. You start that yet?

Thanks everyone. I was so worried I would screw him up, so I'm happy he came out well.

He will not be seeing any tabletops though. His horns and sword are so fragile, they're sure to break off if I try bringing him anywhere.

I haven't started the shaman yet. I'm taking a break tonight, so I'll probably start him during the week. If you happen to have a masked gnoll head around that I could use, it would make things a bit easier.

That's a really impressive paintjob on a fantastic mini. I am envious.

If you need a masked gnoll head, I have one that I haven't used. I also have some C:AoR wolfen that could work as wizards, as well as some Bones gnolls if you need one.

Don't worry Bob, I know Highlord Tamburlaine has a pile more of those gnoll sprues. Hell, I have a bunch of spare gnoll heads myself, I just need one with the mask on to make things a bit easier.

It seems that the Forsaker was a pretty popular figure. I suppose I'll have to actually paint some more Kingdom Death minis sometime.

For now, I finished my ZAS Command Squad from Critical Mass Games. The last figure was the generic officer. I guess he's supposed to be used as a squad leader? I can move on to some other 15mm figures now that I've finished that command squad.

Also, finished my third Trench Fighter.

About a week or so ago, I came across a bunch of old metal Catachans in the consignment case at the FLGS. I figured, what the hell? Bought a set of them and I figure I'll paint them and then try to resell them in the case when I'm done. I didn't want to do anything too crazy with them though, so no camo or eyes. Here's the first figure, the old female grenadier.

This figure is clearly channeling Vasquez from Aliens. After painting her, I noticed that her sculpt is very similar to that of some of the female figures from Void. I wouldn't be surprised if they shared the same sculptor.

I actually don't. The ones I had are at Pegasus in the consignment case. But, just compare her to the various marine sculpts from Void, there's a lot of similarities.

Last Trench Fighter is finished. This one's probably my least favorite since none of the arms other than the shooting ones really looked all that good with the kneeling legs.

Now they just need basing and they'll be completely finished!

I also painted up two more metal Catachans.

Yeah, I know the running guy's teeth look weird. That mostly because of the lighting.

I finished off the Trench Fighters today. They just needed their basing done. Now I have about half of my planned Shadow War: Armageddon warband finished.

I'd placed an order for some parts from Anvil and Mad Robot last Friday to finish off the warband. I got the Mad Robot bits today, so hopefully the Anvil bits will arrive soon.

First update in today's post, I painted something random. This is the engineer class figure from Greenbriar Games' Zpocalypse.

She does have a face, it's just hidden by shadow and her helmet. I did not see that paint blob on the back of her leg until I took this picture though. I'll have to fix that. And yes, she does indeed have a little RC robot drone on her back. In game, she's supposed to be able to deploy it.

Next, I did about twelve 15mm figures this week, all space themed. All of the figures come from Ground Zero Games' Stargrunt line and both pics are much bigger and zoomable in my gallery.

First, we've got the Starship Crew in heavy-duty vacuum suits. They look awfully familiar, don't they?

These guys I believe are also available with weapons and in zero-g floating poses.

Next, you'll probably recognize these guys. I painted a whole one up a long while back. I finally got the bug to paint a set of them up. These are US Marine Corps Extra-Planetary Expeditionary Force Luna troops, or just plainly, Space Marines. Proper Space Marines at that.

Depending on how long I have this itch to paint space figures, I may actually do more of the Space Marines. I still have the other pack of the USMCEPEFL riflement, rocket launchers, rover, and rocket sled, plus I have some OPFOR still in the form of the People's Liberation Army Space Force, their rover, and I have more civvies in space suits.

I don't remember seeing those Starcom guys. You sure you showed them here? I'm assuming 15mm?
Ain't Starcom without any magnets though.

Nostromo crew look good. You need some 15mm alien eggs now. I'd imagine Khurasan has some, seeing as how they made those guys.

I like the random stuff on your blog. The 15mm stuff looks great.

Those Space Marines look like they're wearing cricket pads

I've gotten that cricket pad comment a number of times about them. I think the sculptor was trying to visually reference the suits from Alien and Alien 3 a bit. Regardless, and despite the fact that they do look kind of like cricket pads, I love the look of them.

I got the rest of my Kill Team's parts assembled tonight. The plan is to work on them one at a time and hopefully, get one done a day this week.

Click the pic to see a larger, zoomable pic in my gallery. The figures are a hodge podge of Mad Robot and Anvil Industries bits. You've seen my Veteran Guardsmen with carapace armor and shotguns, these guys are going to be my Recruit Guardsmen with las rifles, veteran sergeant, and special weapons operators with plasma rifles. I've tried to go for a WYSIWYG with them. They all have scopes (can be telescopic or holographic) with laser sights. Troopers both have spare clips, so they have reloads. Sergeant has a las pistol and a power sword. I have a number of spare parts leftover though, I may make another order to kit out a few more guys.

I got further along last night than I expected. I got two more finished tonight. Both are the standard riflemen. One will be a Veteran Guardsman while the other will just be a basic recruit Guardsman.

By tomorrow night, I should have the whole team finished.

That's it! My Kill Team is complete.

Here's the two completed plasma gunners.

and a crowded shot of the full Kill Team (I statted them up, with the options I chose, 8 is the total number of members).

So, I think I've earned myself a day or two of not painting anything. I think I may try and take a better pic of the team though.
