probably has a handle on the other side behind the skull that bends up to the top part, like most modern chainsaws.

This has got be hinting towards the Cawdor specialist box. There is no way they'd introduce a new gang before the main 6 had all been updated, it wod mess up the gang of books lineup, and the production run surely.

Assuming that it is the Reds, it'll probably be like the Ogryn Slave gang and just be in the Cawdor book.

You mean, no way they'd do exactly that a...fourth time?

The context of the article seems pretty clear. 'Something big' doesn't really lend itself to '6 special gangers and some rats.'

It looks like the flamer nozzle might be offset from the centre-line of the blade, but we can't tell because it's a 2D illustration. But if the "pipe" part to the right of the fiery skull is in-line with the blade, then it looks like the "tube" and "nozzle" details are not in-line. It would still be a ridiculous design, since the offset nozzle would interfere with the blade slicing through anything.

The only issue it's the article mention of Kal Jericho and Cardinal Crimson seems to hint towards Redemptionist more than Cawdor.

Could be the Cawdor Noble House equivalent. A small conclave of Redemptionists which can join your Gang as part of an alliance.

2 questions

-why wasn't the BSF pseudo-eviscerator on the table for flamer design?

(my take, because I like the model, yes, I could have found a less self-promoting one)
Spoiler:

-excuse my ignorance, but now that the basic gangs have been more specialized since way back when redemptionists were a faction the core gangs were pretty similar/these were a divergence, what thematically or mechanically demands redemptionists not just be rolled into a related/subfaction of cawdor? Back when I played old necro, I never saw a huge difference, it always felt like redemptionists were just more defined cawdor.

Agreed to a point. Red pretty much made cawdor redundant. Still, redemptionnist will always have a special place in my heart. Will always rebember their fluff at the time said that they considered fornication and even thinking about fornication sinful. As a young kid at the time, had no idea what the word meant and asked my mother. She was wondering what the hell was i reading :p

The main difference was that redemptionists started as an outlaw gang as far as in recall, while you could keep Cawdor within the fold of normal.play.

Looking back at the images, the book looks like it may be resin piece, seems to be far to many cuts otherwise for it to be plastic. Could be a hint at a Character pack, to further tie in with the Kal reference?

Yeah that was the main difference. But even then, iiec red were pretty much half outlaws. Had access to a lot more ressources than the others outlaws gangs

I wonder if the Redemptionists will be kind of like the bounty hunter gang in a way; specifically with access to house legacy gear and alternate profiles, since the Cult of the Red Redemption is supposed to draw from all Houses, not just Cawdor. They just get way less traction in the other five.

I'm excited about the idea of new redemptionists but also worried. I hope they retain some kind of hood even if it isn't quite as pointed as before. They already censored the cawdor executioner. Maybe they'll just end up looking like less armored versions of pious vorne.

Well HERE WE GO. We're about to find out what the Redemption looks like now, presumably along with Cawdor.

The “controversial” hood was previously only on a couple of models at most.

It’s hardly a defining feature.

It’ll kick out sideways like a Heavy Stubber. Or maybe even curve back like a chainsaw handle.

A possible downside to this is that, if the "second plastic kit" for Cawdor is going to be Redempionists, we won't be getting the Sisters of Battle inspired female Cawdor any time soon.

Ooor, as has been pointed out previously, they could just drop an extra sprue like they did for the Slave Ogryns. Absolutely no-one was expecting them, but yet…

Even if you assume they had the Ogryn brutes ready-made and built the gang around the kit, that’s still an extra mould they found the resources to do because they thought it was important/interesting enough.

The only question at this point is “are redemptionists important and/or interesting to the design team?”

The female Cawdor operate in separate groups, right? In which case, it wouldn't make sense as a gang expansion set - unfortunately, as I'd love to see their design. Maybe possibly perhaps in resin; if not several figures than some mercenary character with that background perhaps.

Yeah, exactly - for the Sisters of Cawdor it would have to be a whole gang sprue of basic fighters. I'd be surprised if that doesn't happen at some point, but I don't think it will be now given the Reds appear to be incoming. Also they should have different equipment lists, as the Cawdor polearms are to mimic the Custodes, and therefore the SoC shouldn't get them.

However - does the redemption itself segregate? Could end up as a sprue that can be used with both flavours of Cawdor gang, or by itself. To do Cawdor justice, the book would need 3 gang lists.
